Salford CVS is seeking to appoint to the position of Director of Operations.
The Director of Operations will have wide-ranging responsibilities for the development, implementation and performance of all operational delivery projects and programmes of work. This is a senior role within our well-established charity, and we will expect you to play a proactive and productive role as a member of the organisation’s small Senior Management Team.
You will lead, direct and manage all operational delivery projects and programmes across the organisation. Responsible for all aspects of operational management, you will ensure the high-quality delivery of programmes in line with contract and funder requirements. You will personally line manage all operational Programme Managers, ensuring that service/programme operational plans (including KPIs) and individual staff work plans are in place and being adhered to and delivered against.

Working closely with the Executive Director, senior team members and trustees, we are looking for an Executive Assistant and Company Secretary who has knowledge and experience of working with senior management and trustees in the arts and/or charitable sector to support the effective governance and leadership of the organisation.
You will be highly organised, diplomatic, and proactive with good attention to detail.
Contract and Hours
Permanent, full or part-time, 1.0 (36.25 hours / 5 days) or 0.8 ( 29 hours / 4 days) per week, 9.15-5.30pm per day, including lunch break. Minimum two days per week are to be worked at Crafts Council office, with requirement to attend all relevant Board and committee meetings and key staff events.
Crafts Council aims to support flexible working and part time arrangements where it is appropriate for the role.

Reporting to

Key Responsibilities
- Act as Company Secretary for board and committee meetings - Organise meetings, planning up to a year in advance and working with trustees to ensure availability
- Prepare papers, ensure that they are issued in a timely manner, draft minutes, keep log of follow up actions
- Support the Executive Director with email and correspondence
- Drafting responses and acting as a first responder, provide personal assistant duties and leadership administration, such as arranging internal and external meetings, travel itineraries and diary management
- Meeting preparation: Prepare agendas, gather necessary materials, and follow up on action items from meetings
- Support the Executive Director in drafting briefing documents, reviewing policy documents and providing succinct summaries
- Project support: Assist with project management tasks, including research, data compilation, and presentation preparation
- Make use of time-saving tools (AI) and ensure that Executive Office is run efficiently and productively
- Support Craft Council Executive team with administration duties, including diary management, presentation design, meeting and travel co-ordination and follow up, processing invoices and expenses

- Support the recruitment and induction of new trustees, ensuring that induction packs are up to date and accurate
- Provide administrative support to the Chairs & trustees as required
- Reconcile financial expenditure, such as credit cards, raise purchase orders and code invoices as required

Volunteering Coordinator

Purpose of the role:
Volunteers are the backbone of our operation at FSSW, we recruit over 350 volunteers from a myriad of backgrounds, who make up around 90% of our team. The volunteers help with every aspect of the operation from driving our vans, picking orders to administrative duties. They gift their time to FSSW for many reasons including wanting to be part of the solution to food waste, ensuring perfectly good in-date surplus reaches people in need, giving back to their local community or some are looking for professional and/or personal development.
We have built a volunteer programme which supports a wide demographic of people. This role will primarily lead on:
Rota and Data Management

Work with the Warehouse Managers and the wider FSSW team to ensure the roles advertised reflect the needs of the operation

Work with the Volunteer Recruitment Manager to ensure the rota is filled and monitor patterns, themes or fluctuations.

The overall purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of CSE’s Future Generations programme. This work programme focuses on ensuring that all young people feel inspired and able to play a meaningful role in catalysing and delivering the transition to a more sustainable and fairer energy system.
Pay and conditions
- The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
- The salary for the role will be £41,802 - £53,956 (starting salary will depend on skills and experience).

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Programme leadership - To lead the continued strategic development and coordination of the Future Generations Work Programme across CSE; to ensure that all staff are able and encouraged to engage young people in their work; to maintain a portfolio of youth focused projects which provide opportunities for young people to develop capabilities for effectively participating in the energy system transition.
- Development – To pro-actively lead the development of innovative and impactful project ideas and funding proposals for the Future Generations programme, and work with the Development and Communications teams to build and manage the relationships, evidence, and plans necessary to secure investment.
- Representation – To provide inspiration and practical guidance both internally and externally (through targeted public speaking, network-building and online media) for the better inclusion of future generations in sustainability and resilience planning; aligning the Future Generation’s programme with CSE’s strategic objectives and fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and excellence.
- Team and project management – To take responsibility for the planning and overall delivery of Future Generations projects: ensuring that the Future Generations team is well-resourced, highly motivated, and continuously developing their skills, and that project teams are well-led, efficiently coordinated, effectively using CSE systems and processes, and able to deliver work on time, to budget and to client/donor expectations. Provide mentoring to junior members of the LACE team and provide effective and timely senior management support to contribute to overall team wellbeing and cohesion.
- Safeguarding – to act as a safeguarding lead for our work with children and young people. This includes supporting the handling of any handling of reports or concerns (in conjunction with CSE’s dedicated safe guarding officer); pro-actively working to ensure that risks are well understood and managed; keeping policies and procedures up to date; ensuring that safeguarding is prioritized and that expectations of staff, volunteers, trustees, student placements, agency workers and sub-contractors are clear and adhered to.

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.
We work as movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, using the law in pursuit of three interconnected system-level goals:
- Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to protect the climate
- Safeguarding nature
- Delivering climate and environmental justice
We pursue these goals not just by supporting legal action directly. We believe in growing the strength of the climate and biodiversity legal movement globally, and in enabling people and movements to use legal action to shift narratives.
As movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, we at FILE do not ourselves bring litigation. As a regrantor, FILE is not an endowed foundation, but rather we engage in fundraising to secure resources to support our partners globally.
The Role
This is an exciting role with a wide remit where you will be responsible, under the supervision of the General Counsel for a range of work, including the following: general contracting, corporate governance, compliance, support on policies, and legal advice on a wide range of subjects.
Offering a wide view of the whole organisation, this is not a role for a heads down only technical lawyer – you’ll need to have your finger in many pies and display a wide array of skills. In return, you’ll get to be involved in a variety of interesting and engaging projects.
Key Responsibilities
Contracts
- Under the supervision of the General Counsel, review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of legal documents and agreements, including, but not limited to technical aspects of donor contracts, grant agreements, supply of goods and services agreements, IT agreements, and property leases.
- Draft, user friendly templates and guidance; improve contracting processes.
- Support in the drafting and delivery of contract management training to embed a good contract culture within the organisation.
Governance
- Support the General Counsel to manage governance queries and provide support to entities in complying with their governance obligations,
- Assist with the preparation of board papers and resolutions as required,
- Support the General Counsel on insurance review and renewals.
Policy/Compliance
- Support the General Counsel to design, consult on, draft, review and/or input into key organisational corporate policies, processes and /or guidance, including but not limited to fraud and bribery, data protection, document retention, terrorism, money laundering, due diligence.
- Input into the design of, and provide training on key policies, processes and legal principles, including but not limited to legal privilege and confidentiality;
- Work with all departments to ensure implementation/compliance mechanisms are in in place and function as they should.
General Law and Advice
- Advise on contractual law, charity law, company law, lobbying, data protection and other laws and regulations as required.
- Support FILE’s trademark management.
- Conduct legal research as required and support the General Counsel in keeping informed and up to date on any applicable new or developing laws and regulations
Other
- Support the maintenance of the Legal Team’s intranet page, including maintenance of policies and templates in a user friendly form for all members of FILE.

Role Summary
Are you an experienced project and relationship manager, passionate about changing the food system? You could soon be leading an exciting new programme to make hospital food in the UK healthier and more planet-friendly. You’ll support our Head of Programmes, carrying out a wide range of tasks, including securing new partnerships with hospital trusts, providing advice on menus, managing relationships, and collecting data to measure the impact of the programme. You’ll develop and deliver an effective strategy, starting with a pilot project with one NHS Trust before rolling the strategy out across the country.
Hospital Plates is the sister programme to our successful School Plates programme. Since the launch of School Plates in 2018, we’ve supported over 90 major school caterers, responsible for the food in over 8,000 schools, feeding over 1.3 million children every day, helping almost 50 million school meals become meat-free or plant-based. Our plan is to replicate this scale of impact in the hospital sector, using the experience and insights we’ve gained within schools.
Reporting directly to our Head of Programmes, you’ll also work closely with our School Plates team including our Programme Coordinators and Chef Trainers, as well as our Public Health Lead, Communications Manager, Director, and the rest of our team.
We’re looking for someone to join our team for 3 days a week with the potential for the hours to increase over time.

Responsibilities
- Create a clear and effective strategy for delivering impactful menu change in UK hospitals.
- Launch and complete a pilot of the programme, managing the process from the start.
- On successful completion of the pilot, roll out the programme across the rest of the country.
- Conduct outreach to hospital trusts to build a network of contacts, engage new partners, and manage and develop these relationships.
- Coordinate with a range of different stakeholders within hospitals and trusts, including catering teams and nutritionists.
- Collaborate with other organisations in support of healthier and sustainable hospital food.
- Develop a range of resources and templates for hospitals and trusts to support and guide them through the programme.
- Contribute ideas for developing recipes that meet the nutritional guidelines for hospital food.
- Work with the School Plates Awards Coordinator to develop an equivalent menu awards scheme for hospital food.
- Work with our chef trainers to deliver presentations and training to hospital staff, including organising and promoting sessions, liaising with trusts/hospitals and attendees, presenting, and collating feedback.

Purpose of the role
The Production Manager plays a key role in delivering all aspects of the production process, coordinating all production activities and operations on time and within budget.
The role works closely with the Head of Technical, Production and Building services, Senior Producer, and Events team in scheduling, and delivering all technical and production services for all events and activities across their programme.

Responsibilities
PRODUCTION
- Efficient and quality realisation of all their productions, Co-Productions, visiting productions and events on time and within agreed budgets
- Collaborate with directors, creative artists and colleagues across the creative process to deliver their artistic vision, and ensure this positive collaborative culture is embedded across all production departments
- Lead their production team to deliver high quality production values across the range of the theatre’s work

Working arrangements
Please note this is a 6 month fixed term contract. This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office (NW1 7AW).
Interview process
1st stage interviews are due to take place Wed 30th April via Teams. 2nd stage will be on Thurs 8th May in our London office.
