Role description, July 2024 Reports to: Senior Communications Manager
Direct reports: None Location: Our well-equipped office is in King’s Cross, London, WC1X 9NW. Staff are currently working in hybrid locations with a general requirement to meet colleagues once a week including a Communications team office day once a month, and an all-staff meeting in London five times a year, although we will always take into account personal circumstances.
Status: Permanent Hours: Full-time
Salary: D1L: £31,437 - £34,659 (possibly more for an exceptional candidate), plus benefits
Role Summary
Our Communications Officer plays a key role in our central Communications team, working collaboratively with colleagues to create impactful messages which are consistent, clear and well-planned. Through this work, you’ll support thousands of people across three key work programmes – Behaviour Change, Culture Shift and Information and Advice. You’ll have a particular focus in supporting the Senior Communications Manager with messaging across emails, our website and other digital channels, and play a key role in developing content with people who want to share their own experiences of alcohol and alcohol harm. You will have responsibility for wider tasks across the team, including monitoring inboxes, creating reports and supporting colleagues flexibly, particularly during busier campaign periods.
7 Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Communications and content
1. Support the Senior Communications Manager to develop year-round content strategies and planning
2. Create clear copy for a range of channels (including website, emails, social media) which influences and motivates audiences to take action and support Alcohol Change UK’s work
3. Ensure all communications are well-framed, on-message and fit with our brand guidelines
4. Lead on our monthly newsletter, developing, writing and scheduling on Mailchimp, and using reports and insights to think creatively about how to engage our audiences effectively
5. Play a coordinating role for the organisation’s wider email communications, collaborating with colleagues from other departments to ensure regular engagement emails are on message, and on brand
Website maintenance and development
1. Create clear, well-written content for our website – particularly focusing on engaging Information and Advice content
2. Make regular updates to website content, and troubleshoot issues as they arise
3. Ensure ongoing implementation of our Search Engine Optimisation and accessibility best practices
4. Support the Senior Communications Manager with annual planning and implementation of improved user journeys and experiences
5. Act as a champion for the website, developing relationships with colleagues from across the organisation to support new projects, content and campaigns across the site
Enabling people to share their experiences
1. Empathetically and respectfully work with individuals to share their stories, creating a wide range of content (blogs, quotes and case studies) to be used flexibly across Alcohol Change UK’s channels
2. Follow up leads for people who want to share their experiences publicly
3. Utilise our CRM system to manage relationships and coordinate content by themes
4. Support colleagues from all teams to include impactful personal experiences, bringing our content and campaigns to life
Team support
1. Monitor team inboxes including dryjanuary@ and contact@ ensuring great customer service and that all enquiries are dealt with in a timely fashion
2. Complete monthly team KPI reports, with a specific focus on email and website engagement data, providing analysis for optimisation throughout the year 8
3. As required, support the Behaviour Change team with Facebook Community Group monitoring, completing slots on the agreed team rota
4. Provide ad-hoc support to the Digital team with social media monitoring and responses as required
Cross-organisational Role
1. Work closely with colleagues across the Communications team and wider charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’
2. Contribute actively and positively to charity-wide strategies
Other Duties
1. Continually develop your knowledge of alcohol harm and solutions to it
2. Act as a positive ambassador for Alcohol Change UK at all times
3. Know, embrace and actively uphold the values of Alcohol Change UK at all times
4. Work flexible hours as necessary to meet the needs of the charity – time off in lieu will be earnt for any work required outside of normal working hours
Support through campaign periods
The post holder will be expected to support the team with additional tasks through our busiest period from November-January. All members of the communications team are expected to work at times during the Christmas and New Year period, including bank holidays. A rota system is in place and Time of in Lieu is provided for additional hours worked.

About us
Action for Conservation is a grassroots charity using pioneering approaches to inspire and empower young people from diverse backgrounds, between the ages of 12 and 24, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We have recently embarked on an inspiring and ambitious new, three-year project funded through the National Lottery Community Fund: Intergenerational Action for Nature and Climate. This will see us working across two sites, Grow Wilder in Bristol and Heartwood, near Matlock in Derbyshire, and using our proven intergenerational land stewardship approach to restore biodiversity and connect young people to nature, empowering them to become life-long climate activists and advocates for nature.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and be a part of the project from the very beginning, playing a key role in its success. You will work closely with other members of the project team, as well as our partners Avon Wildlife Trust, to support the development and successful delivery of the project at Grow Wilder in Bristol.
Through regular online engagement and monthly visits to the Grow Wilder site, you will support us in facilitating an intergenerational co-design process, using eco-cultural mapping and other participatory methods. Involving key stakeholders, including Avon Wildlife Trust, a Youth Leadership Group of young people aged 12-18 living locally to Grow Wilder, land knowledge holders and the wider community, this process will enable participants to collectively develop an ambitious vision for the future of Grow Wilder. One of the outcomes of this process will be a shared plan for restoring nature and improving biodiversity at Grow Wilder, which will be implemented throughout the lifetime of the project and beyond.
Working in collaboration with our partners Avon Wildlife Trust, you will be responsible for coordinating all project activities, providing high-quality administrative and organisational support to the project team. You will also lead or support a variety of engaging sessions, webinars and hands-on activities with the project partners, young people, community groups and other project stakeholders.
Start date: as soon as possible, ideally mid/late October
Contract: Fixed-term for three years, with scope to extend subject to funding
Starting salary: £28,121.27 - £29,317.92 (FTE , pro-rata if working part time) depending on experience
Location: Bristol. This role requires regular travel within Bristol and the South West region, as well as occasional national travel
Working hours: full-time (35 hours) or part-time (21 hours). This role requires regular evening and weekend work, as well as occasional residential stays/work. Time off in lieu (TOIL) can be taken for work outside of usual office hours.

- Support the South West Programme Manager and Land-based Projects Lead to design and facilitate an intergenerational co-design process, using eco-cultural mapping and other participatory methods, to develop a future vision for Grow Wilder.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver monthly visits of the Youth Leadership Group to the Grow Wilder site.
- Facilitate the activity of the Youth Leadership Group outside of Grow Wilder visits to ensure young people are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence to engage fully with the project.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver school/youth group visits and community nature restoration action days at Grow Wilder.
- Support monitoring and evaluation activities to understand the impact of the project and facilitate learnings.
- (If applicable) Support the delivery of our core programmes for young people, helping young people to experience, connect with and take action for nature.

THE ROLE
The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for leading the London team’s overall fundraising strategy and activities. The role requires the postholder to motivate and support their team, and ensure regional and individual fundraising targets are met, in alignment with Islamic Help’s fundraising strategy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Innovate and introduce new fundraising approaches and techniques to enhance donor engagement and increase revenue.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and key stakeholders to secure funding and support.
- Develop tailored proposals and presentations for high-value donors and strategic partners.

St Neots Foodbank was founded ten years ago by the town’s churches; and is part of the Trussell Trust network and is still managed by trustees from those churches. At St Neots Foodbank we have our own warehouse and run four distribution centres across St Neots each week; all currently staffed by over 70 volunteers.

As Operations Manager, you will oversee the operations at St Neots Foodbank, giving particular attention to operational efficiency and standards in line with the terms of the franchise, including the implementation of existing policies and standard operating processes. You will be instrumental in enabling our Foodbank to continue to support our community and support and guide its future development.
Our ideal candidate will have relevant experience and be able to demonstrate great leadership qualities to build strong teams based on trust and understanding. Self-motivation, organisation and excellent interpersonal skills will be essential for this role. - Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively. Alongside excellent budgeting and attention to detail.

About the team:
This is an exciting role, joining our newly formed Digital and Content team. As the organisation continues to invest in its digital estate to support organisational goals, the role of Senior Digital Project Manager will play a key role. In 2023, we launched an online information hub for our carers where they can find out about services that can support them in their journey. This currently sits separate to our main site. We are now working with Studio24 to bring these sites together, to create a unified user experience, with new website functionality. A key consideration for this development is our recent Department for Education contract to deliver high quality training to carers across England. As part of this service, we must ensure that carers can seamlessly book online or face-to-face training through our website. Additionally, they should have access to a wide range of online information and advice content. While some of this functionality exists within our current digital estate, not all of it does and there is room for improvement. Therefore, the redevelopment project aims to create a cohesive website experience with clear user journeys and new functionality.
The type of person we’re looking for:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in project management and UX. You will be experienced in managing complex digital projects throughout their lifecycle. You will be able to work collaboratively and have excellent communication skills to engage both internal and external stakeholders. You will have a genuine passion for working with and involving users in meaningful ways and have a particular interest in accessible and inclusive design. You will be able to build rapport with internal stakeholders, keeping them up to date with digital developments, explaining things in easily accessible language and obtaining buy-in from across the organisation. Engage with residents regularly to address their concerns and ensure their feedback is incorporated into safety plans.
- Safety Management Systems: Develop and maintain robust safety management systems and procedures. Ensure regular fire risk assessments and other safety inspections are conducted and documented. Oversee the implementation of safety measures, ensuring they are effective and up to date.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the Head of Building Safety and Building Safety officer and other team members to integrate safety measures into maintenance and liaise with external contractors, ensuring they adhere to safety regulations and standards. Coordinate with regulatory bodies and ensure all statutory notifications and reporting requirements are met.
- Training and Development: Ensure that all staff and contractors are adequately trained in building safety protocols and the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022. Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for all buildings. Conduct regular drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness for any safety incidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor and review building safety practices regularly to identify areas for improvement. Implement new safety initiatives and best practices to enhance overall building safety.
