Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a Practitioner to join their team. Solihull Integrated Addiction Service (SIAS) is a partnership between five organisations jointly responsible for the delivery of the drug, alcohol, homelessness and gambling services, in the Borough of Solihull. We offer services for adults who use or are affected by substance use, homelessness and gambling.

The aim of the outreach practitioner is to ensure that key services are available to those who need it most. Working in the community and office based setting, the role will include completing treatment assessments, home visits/outreach visits, prison visits, multi-agency working (with WMP, CMHT, GPs, probation and other supporting services). The role entails reaching out to hard to engage clients and supporting them to overcome the barriers they have to accessing treatment. Taking treatment into the community, the outreach practitioner will carry a caseload and provide intensive support to encourage people to try different approaches to engaging with support so offering home visit assessment, prison in reach visits on preparation for their release or meeting in a place of safety for example library or probation office. 

Alongside getting to know people in a non-judgemental setting and treating them with empathy we hope to help break the cycle of clients entering and leaving treatment without the right support, letting them know they have choices and support to achieve their goals. We will be introducing the SIAS service and all it has to offer and continued support from ourselves and partners that will help to build confidence, self-esteem and choice.

Your challenge? As a Practitioner you will be working specifically with clients to support the delivery of interventions and to empower change in individuals. You will support people through an outreach approach in addressing their substance needs.

We are looking for an energetic and confident self-starter, you have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse or housing and homeless field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you're used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. What’s more, you have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.

Due to the nature of the role, a driving licence and access to a car is essential.

This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

About this key role

As our specialist worker you will provide peer supervisory support to the team within the wider hospital based services, which includes deputising for the Senior Caseworker, and supporting the Data Coordinator and Senior Caseworker with the collation of information and data for project monitoring purposes. We will also count on you to develop and maintain strong relationships with clinicians and hospital staff, while also identifying onward referral pathways with other services in the hospital such as CAMHS, IDVA, COMPASS and other statutory and voluntary sectors in the community.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will also help to identify and assess young victims of violence and to provide support, advice and advocacy for both them and their families as they plan to be discharged from hospital back into the community. • Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families.
• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team, working together to achieve positive outcomes for young people and establishing links to further the aims of a project.
• Experience of using support plans to enable people to successfully access support services.
• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people.

As a Membership Recruiter, you'll have the exciting opportunity to work at various pre-booked venues and events in the Essex area, urging others to make a monthly donation by direct debit to support their local Wildlife Trust and their crucial conservation work.

• Competitive pay: With uncapped commission, our top performers regularly earn above £40.00 p/hr, and the average is £17.00 p/hr (£32,000 FTE). 
• Guaranteed income: In addition to uncapped commission, you will enjoy a guaranteed minimum hourly rate of £15.00 during the first 60 days of employment, and £12.00 p/hr minimum safety net rate thereafter.
• Flexible contracts: We offer permanent, part-time contracts to fit your busy lifestyle, with 3-day work weeks at various pre-booked venues and events. You'll enjoy working weekends and bank holidays, maximizing your earning potential.
• Comprehensive training and support: Starting with 4 days of paid training at our head office and in the field, we ensure you have everything you need to excel in your role.
• Exciting benefits: From a quarterly bonus scheme and holiday entitlement to a pension scheme and travel contribution paid at 35p per mile, along with a full 'Recruiter Kit' provided, including a charity-branded uniform, gazebo, and display materials, you'll have all the support you need.

 

Who we're looking for:

• You hold a valid driving license and have access to a car/van for transporting equipment and materials, essential for the role.
• You're warm, friendly, and able to engage with all types of people, with excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
• You're comfortable working in the field and not afraid to work outside in all weather, with the ability to work towards realistic targets/KPIs and a love for nature and wildlife.
