About the role

At Breast Cancer Now, we’re seeking a Senior Press & PR Officer to join our ambitious press, PR & celebrity team for 12 months. The role is focused primarily on the charity’s Fundraising portfolio, including our corporate partnerships and high-value fundraising events, all of which raise vital funds that help the charity to deliver world-class research and provide life-changing support for anyone affected by breast cancer. 

About you

As an excellent communicator, you’ll be great at building trusted and influential relationships across a range of stakeholders including colleagues, journalists, external partners and advocates and ambassadors of Breast Cancer Now. This will help you bring our work to life, working collaboratively and effectively and at pace. 

With significant experience in developing and delivering impactful PR campaigns, either in-house or in an agency, you’ll tell powerful stories around our fundraising activity to achieve cut-through in the media and drive further engagement and support (including financial) from our key audiences. 

Always putting the patient voice at the heart of our work, you’ll be innovative and creative in your approach to secure maximum profile for annual events and campaigns, building on previous years’ successes and bringing fresh angles to this work to maximise engagement with the media and key audiences. 

With strong written skills and an instinct for what makes a good news story, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced press office, and always consider how content can be integrated and delivered across communications channels for greatest impact.   

The successful candidate will be excited to be part of an ambitious, focused and supportive wider Fundraising, Communications and Engagement Directorate, which has a remit to reach and engage more people with our work than ever before, and to develop our fundraising to become a sustainable organisation for the future.

We're looking for a Clinical Lead Behaviour Analyst to join our Complex Specialist Directorate in London, Kent & Hertfordshire.

In this role you will be a key member of the Complex Specialist Directorate operating across Look Ahead's geography in Learning Disability and Autism services. The Clinical Lead will be a qualified Behaviour Analyst, responsible for conducting assessments, deciding most appropriate PBS interventions and supporting service teams to deliver effective strategies and develop practice. The postholder will be expected to obtain information from all relevant stakeholders to inform decision making. This role will operate off-line reporting into the Director of Specialist and Complex Care and working alongside the Director for Business Development and wider team.

This is 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension.

What you'll do:

To be successful the postholder will demonstrate capacity to implement sustainable, person-centred PBS interventions working collaboratively with Look Ahead PBS Coaches, Service Managers and wider stakeholders.

This role will be varied and responsive to the needs of the customers that Look Ahead supports across our Learning Disability and Autism services and will likely include:

• Conducting initial needs assessments from referrals
• Developing individual PBS plans and support proposals sensitive to customers cognitive, social, emotional and sensory needs
• Facilitating support planning for individuals in receipt of Tier 2 or 3 of our PBS Framework
• Performing Functional Assessments for PBS planning
• Conducting training sessions for individuals and teams
• Providing coaching and guidance to service teams to develop practice
• Observe practice, collate and record data, provide feedback
• Designing and implement training programs:
  In-house RBT training and supervision with a view to developing capability of those selected for RBT to deliver regional specific assessments.
  Autism, learning disability and communication
• Provide clinical supervision to PBS Coaches and support their development to apply PBS strategies and interventions
• Attend management meetings and write reports

Fundraising Manager - Scotland

RSPB Scotland is looking for a Fundraising Manager to help generate and maximise income from external funding sources. The role is primarily responsible for raising money for work undertaken by RSPB Scotland, and as such the successful candidate will ideally be based in Scotland.

What's the role about?

We are looking for a motivated individual with relevant fundraising experience who will take the initiative to seek out new funding opportunities and create high quality funding proposals.

This role will have a particular focus on raising income from grants and charitable trusts but may require flexible working across fundraising streams. Therefore, experience in corporate and/or individual fundraising would be desirable.

Excellent writing skills and attention to detail are crucial to the success of this role, as is the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and prioritise to meet tight deadlines. The successful candidate must also be confident in building and developing strong relationships, both externally with funders and internally with RSPB staff from other offices and nature reserves. This role will also include line management responsibilities.

Knowledge of the threats facing nature and our climate, and a passion to contribute towards tackling these issues, is required.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Proven, successful track record in securing five and six figure donations from grants and/or charitable trusts
• Excellent writing skills for compiling funding proposals and projects reports and claims
• Good numeracy skills, attention to detail, and ability to collate project budgets and grant claims

About the Role

Working under the direction and support of a Regional Prevention Services Managers, the Deputy Service Manager will lead a team of client-facing workers to deliver effective and high-quality services that strive to prevent homelessness.  You will be responsible for young people needing longer term placements, as well as sharing responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all hosts and staff at the service.

The postholder will be accountable for the day-to-day aspects of service delivery in line with Depaul’s expectations and procedures. You will oversee all aspects of project delivery of our Supported Lodgings service, including the line management of client-facing workers, supporting the to deliver high-quality services.

Your work will be underpinned by the Depaul Endeavour model of assets based, psychologically informed delivery, the aim of which is to ensure that every client leaves a Depaul service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self determining in their lives.

Key responsibilities include:

•  Ensure every client accessing Supported Lodgings service is welcomed, kept safe and has a suitable support plan for longer term accommodation and support

• You will lead on the assessment of needs and risk, predominantly focused on suitable risk management plans for engagement in Supported Lodgings Services

• Develop and deliver key partnerships with referral agencies and support related projects

• Work with the Regional Prevention Services Manager to continuously review and develop the services under your responsibility

• You will have responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for Supported Lodgings’ guests and volunteers through regular checks and reporting.

• Work with the Regional Prevention Services Manager to monitor project budgets and petty cash systems

• Participate in internal/external local and national meetings and supervision meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary

• Lead on the safeguarding of all clients accessing your services including clients who are not in receipt of support from other staff

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological disease that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide.

Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK providing direct support to children and adults with M.E. We provide vital support services, campaign for change and invest in ground-breaking research to help put an end to the ignorance, injustice and neglect experienced by people with M.E. 

We are looking for an empathic and resilient individual to join a friendly and well-established team of part-time, remote-based Information and Support Officers, on a 12-month contract. The purpose of this role is to provide a holistic, client-centred, effective and efficient Information and Support Service to people affected by M.E. We do this primarily via outgoing calls made in response to triaged voicemail messages, and also via email.

You can choose to be home-based anywhere in the UK, work from our Bristol office, or a hybrid of the two.

Our Information and Support Service team has a deep understanding of the issues affecting people with M.E. and their family and carers. Some of our clients come to us in considerable distress so this work isn’t always easy, but it can be incredibly rewarding and is valued by our clients and the wider organisation.

You will need experience of working in a service providing information, advice, support or advocacy by telephone and email (or proven transferable skills). You will be experienced and confident at working with people in distress, and identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, with the courage and emotional resilience to set and maintain realistic boundaries.

• Offering emotional support via active, empathic listening, including to people in significant distress.
• Setting and maintaining boundaries; managing clients’ expectations and ensuring commitments to them are met.
• Helping clients unpick a situation which seems overwhelming and break down complex situations into discrete issues which can then be progressed.
• Working with the client to understand their needs and wishes, empowering them to make informed choices and to take action to achieve their self-identified goals.

1. Educated to A level standard or equivalent experience in a similar role is preferred, however no one specific qualification is required. 
2. Experience working on a helpline as part of an information, support, navigator or advocacy service, supporting clients to identify options and services available to them. 
3. An understanding of the challenges facing people with a long-term health conditions, physical impairments or disabilities, such as M.E. 
4. Demonstrable experience of working in a person-centred, needs-led way. 
5. Experience identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, working strictly within organisational policies and procedures. 
6. Experience of working with people in distress, including people who disclose suicidal thoughts. 
7. Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, systematically and with nuance, both verbally and in writing. 
8. Ability to demonstrate empathy while setting boundaries; emotionally resilient and resourceful, with ability to adapt in the face of challenging circumstances to maintain your wellbeing. 
9. Strong team player and also able to work on own initiative; ability to work remotely while building strong relationships with your manager and peers.

About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic and organised Office Administrator to join our team. To manage the overall running of the Carers’ Hub office, including overseeing HR admin, implement policy and procedures, including Health and Safety, maintain administrative processes, manage stakeholders, serve the trustee board, and work closely with the Carers’ Hub team in the implementation of events and projects.

The Senior Communications Officer role:

As our Senior Communications Officer, you will assist with the development and the delivery of the Communications Strategy through use of our various communications channels and functions: websites, social media, newsletters, leaflets, posters, press releases, events etc. You will also increase the visibility of St Luke’s and its brand to the wider community, with the aim to reach new target groups for membership, increase visitor participation in our events and activities and generate income from fundraising and commercial activities.

Responsibilities of our Senior Communications Officer will include:

• Support the Senior Communications Manager to develop and deliver the Communications Strategy for St Luke’s across the spectrum of communications disciplines: media and public relations, internal communication, brand marketing, advertising, marketing, social media and production of materials.  
• Design and produce key marketing materials promoting larger events at the Centre. Also oversee production of materials for all activities and events through structured templates and training to members of staff. This involves adherence to St Luke’s Brand Guidelines.
• To shoot and edit film assets and footage for our social media channels, managing our YouTube channel and giving people an insight into daily life at the Centre through our videos.
• To co-ordinate an online events calendar through our membership database, working with Service Managers to ensure events are publicised through the relevant channels including website, newsletter, social media, etc.
• Manage the website content (WordPress) and the membership database, Membership Works, co-ordinating other users who access the system and providing training where needed.
• Provide content for daily updates on social media channels, expanding our scope and keeping up-to-date with developments. Manage sponsored posts. Provide support for staff needing to update social media, including occasional drop-in workshops.
• Manage the photograph library, and assist if staff require specific photos for publicity. Arrange photographers for events and photo sessions at the Centre. Advise staff on GDPR rules around photography where necessary.

Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities we are looking for in our ideal Senior Communications Officer:

• Experience of contributing to and working in a team to deliver a Communications Strategy
• Experience and knowledge of managing and delivering campaigns to build a reputation
• Experience of writing articles, press releases and managing websites

• Excellent knowledge of the English language, particularly with regards to spelling and grammar
