The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way. 

This role sits within our children and families directorate, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country. 

We are currently looking for an experienced Young Carers Service Manager to join our dynamic, ambitious team. 

A key part of this role will be your ability to manage and support our Young Carers Service in Plymouth within The Children's Society's performance management procedures, in accordance with current legislation and safe practice, and to be the safeguarding lead for the service. 

In order to be successful in this role, you must have: 

• Substantial experience of working with vulnerable children and young people

You will also represent Ygam at various conferences and events, showcasing our impactful work and raising awareness of our cause. You will collaborate across the Programmes Team, developing long lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders and expanding our reach and influence. Occasionally, you may also deliver our City & Guilds assured workshops, both online and face to face, and provide support to delegates post training, updating all relevant records and CRM systems.

This role provides advice and advocacy to LGBTQ+ people who contact Stonewall Housing because they are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The goal is to help people understand their rights and navigate their housing options in order that they have somewhere safe to live. People usually contact us because they are in crisis, the Case Worker’s job is to calmly assess their housing needs, provide them with immediate advice and sign posting and, where necessary, provide advocacy case work to ensure they get access to what they are entitled to.

Key Responsibilities

· To provide a high quality, flexible and responsive advice and case work service to LGBTQ+ people, supporting them to exercise their rights and get access to safe accommodation.

· To assess the individual needs of each person and provide a bespoke advice and advocacy plan.

· To ensure that effective service user participation mechanisms are in place.

· To ensure a high level of customer care and practice at all times.

· To develop links with relevant external agencies.

Main Duties of the Post

Casework Sessions

· To give holistic support to LGBTQ+ people accessing our advice and advocacy service and to provide proactive support to these service users who are sometimes hard to engage.

· To assess each individual’s current housing situation and form a view with regards to risk associated with their case.

· To explore all options available to the service user allowing them to make informed decisions.

· To work with LGBTQ+ people accessing the advice and advocacy to develop and review individual work plans and risk assessments.

· To have regular case work sessions to provide structured support, in relation to Housing specific issues.

· To liaise with other service providers ensuring service users receive the necessary support to sustain their accommodation, acquire relevant independent living skills, maintain or improve positive physical and mental health and access into meaningful occupation of their time.

Liaison with Landlords / Other Agencies

· To support service users to report repairs and work with landlords and advocate where necessary.

· To support service users to contact local authority, voluntary and private sector landlords to report anti-social behaviour issues and advocate where necessary.

· To support service users to present to local authorities as homeless, where appropriate, and advocate where necessary.

Other Duties

· To establish and maintain accurate and complete records in all areas of work

· To complete statistics for the collation of performance and funding information

· To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and regulations in relation to funders and other key areas.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Experience

· Lived experience, or experience of working with homeless or vulnerable LGBTQ+ people, in a voluntary or paid employment setting

St Neots Foodbank was founded ten years ago by the town’s churches; and is part of the Trussell Trust network and is still managed by trustees from those churches. At St Neots Foodbank we have our own warehouse and run four distribution centres across St Neots each week; all currently staffed by over 70 volunteers.

As Operations Manager, you will oversee the operations at St Neots Foodbank, giving particular attention to operational efficiency and standards in line with the terms of the franchise, including the implementation of existing policies and standard operating processes. You will be instrumental in enabling our Foodbank to continue to support our community and support and guide its future development.

Our ideal candidate will have relevant experience and be able to demonstrate great leadership qualities to build strong teams based on trust and understanding. Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the UK’s leading health and research charity for pulmonary fibrosis. We are seeking an organised, driven individual with excellent written communication skills to help us grow income from grant making trusts and foundations. As Trusts & Grants Coordinator, you will produce inspiring funding applications and reports, and develop relationships with new and existing funders. As well as building on our pipeline of grant making trusts, you will also support the development of income from statutory bodies such as local authorities.

As a Debt, Benefits and Money Adviser, you will provide a comprehensive community-based debt advice service to beneficiaries who are experiencing difficulties, advising on their legal position and all the suitable options available through a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and email interactions.

In addition, you will carry out income maximisation through identifying and advising on benefit entitlement, and the take up of appropriate benefits. The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within the National Mobilisation knowledge group, where we work tirelessly to raise much needed funds to help us reach children and young people who urgently need support. If you have direct marketing experience, are passionate about young people, and create communications that inspire action, this could be the role for you.

As one of our Senior Public Engagement Officers, you'll develop communications across multiple channels such as mail, online, email, SMS to name a few, that deepen audience understanding of the challenges that young people face. You'll manage projects end to end. You will commission insight projects that support the delivery of compelling campaigns with young people right at the centre. Your work will inspire audiences to give their time, money and voice.

Key skills and competencies

-Relevant experience of multi channel direct response marketing skills, including email, social, online, (telephone and direct mail are desirable)

About the role 

The Capitals Coalition is at an exciting time in its history, as it embarks upon an ambitious ten-year strategy to catalyze action towards accounting for what really matters with key decision makers in the economy.

The Interim Communications Director will play a pivotal role in developing and leading the communications strategy to strengthen Capitals Coalition’s positioning as a credible and trusted voice as we transition into our new strategic phase.

With a strong background in strategic communications you will work with the CEO, Executive and Leadership Teams, as well as a wide range of stakeholders to champion the Coalition’s brand and narrative for the new strategy. Managing a small communications function and leveraging our cutting-edge projects and networks, you will amplify the Coalition’s voice and inspire key audiences in business, finance and government.

You will report to the Executive Director and directly manage the Communications Manager. 

What you will do

• Develop - and oversee the implementation of - a new communications strategy and the positioning of the Capitals Coalition with external stakeholders. This includes bringing cohesion across initiatives, amplifying and promoting key outputs and targeting communications to achieve organizational goals.

• Lead and develop a strong narrative for action that is supported by messaging and visual assets and ensure these are embedded across Capitals Coalition communications. This includes determining key audiences, messengers and moments, and identifying key indicators to track and monitor progress. 

• Develop, maintain, and disseminate strategic messaging that underpins both reactive and proactive communications tactics in line with strategic objectives and policy positioning.

• Identify, foster and manage productive and impactful relationships with key communication and engagement stakeholders, including press contacts, communications specialists in partner organizations, and key partners for outputs and events.

• Promote an innovative approach to communications using all media, staying abreast of advancements in the profession to ensure the Capitals Coalition can make best use of a mix of communication channels.

• Drive creative insights and strategic thinking across the Capitals Coalition with respect to communications to maximize impact and reach.

• Build relationships by representing the Coalition on external working groups, at events, and in the media as appropriate.

• Support, prepare and coach staff, spokespeople and board members for media interviews and visits and provide guidance across the organization about dealing with the media.

• Manage the Capitals Coalition’s in-house communications team including setting objectives, leading on annual appraisals, and recruitment.

• As a member of the Leadership Team, support the Executive Team in fostering cohesion and collaboration across the Capitals Coalition. 

• Take on additional tasks as required to support the delivery of the Capitals Coalition’s strategic and operational plans. 

What we’re looking for  

• 12+ years of experience in strategic communications and/or PR and at least 5 years of experience managing others; 

• Experience developing and executing a communications strategy for a global organization, using knowledge of how communications supports the delivery of wider organizational goals; 

• Experience developing, supporting and executing advocacy campaigns;

• Experience in economic transformation, new economics or sustainability fields including excellent understanding of economic transformation, sustainability and business issues and ability to anticipate and adapt messaging in relation to context and audience; 

• Ability to summarize and synthesize complex reports, findings and information to make them accessible for a diverse audience; 

• Knowledge of branding and design is an asset; 

• Proven leadership with seasoned judgment, the ability to make decisions, justify recommendations and be responsive, clear and firm with colleagues and partners;

• Comfortable advising and engaging with subject matter experts and senior leaders;

• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, motivate, and lead colleagues; 

• Experience working independently and also collaboratively with a small team, and comfort with adapting to changing situations;

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
