Background to the Role
Do you have helpline or call centre experience? Are you good at communicating on the telephone? Do you enjoy helping people to find information and solutions to challenges? Are you approachable and a good communicator? We need you to join our high volume, friendly helpline team of staff and volunteers, answering calls and providing information and support to older people in Croydon.
Our helpline is a first point of contact for many older people and their families and carers as they tackle a variety of issues around finance, social engagement, housing and council tax, travel concessions such as Blue Badge and Taxi card. You will play a crucial role in answering our busy Information & Advice Helpline phone: listening carefully and sympathetically to callers, finding solutions to their queries or issues and. The role is varied and very rewarding, and no two days are the same.
Main Duties (but not limited to)
- Providing information and signposting to callers to our Helpline and to people enquiring by email
- Entering new client referrals on our database and recording each new enquiry on our systems
- Supporting and supervising volunteers within the I&A Team

- Offering a friendly and professional first point of contact for people phoning or emailing Age UK Croydon’s I&A Service
- Listening carefully to what clients say and ensuring the response to every enquiry is centered around them.

Purpose
The HR Administrator role is an excellent opportunity for someone with HR or admin experience, who is interested in starting/progressing an HR career and looking to gain experience in a friendly but busy small HR team. The role provides a day-to-day HR admin service to employees and HR admin support to the part time HR team (two HR Business Partners and the Head of People & Development). The HR Administrator will be involved in using an HR and payroll system, ADP, and have an important role in the employee lifecycle processes e.g., DBS checks, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, payroll, appraisals, and have day-to-day responsibility for the HR and Recruitment Outlook mailboxes.
Main Responsibilities
Working in the HR team, reporting to a HR Business Partner, your main responsibilities will cover:

Play an important role in introducing new and improving existing HR processes for a better HR service delivery and employee experience.

Achieve work targets effectively

New Starter Onboarding Process: creating documents for HRBP approval (offer letters and contracts), ensuring all starter paperwork is returned, requesting and tracking the return of references, right to work checks, and setting up new starter compliance training.

Leavers: leading on leaver admin process, ensuring it is completed in timely manner.

Recruitment: becoming an expert user of Applied, our applicant tracking system. Advertising jobs (on Applied and external jobsites), arranging interviews and supporting colleagues with recruitment queries.

Invoicing and Credit Card Reconciliation: processing invoices on Finance system, Kissflow and the monthly credit card reconciliation for HR transactions.

Payroll - accurately updating and maintaining ADP, the HR & Payroll database. Uploading documents, running reports. Supporting HRBPs with payroll queries.

Regularly updating and auditing other HR data to ensure information is up to date (e.g., pensions data, new starter training, wellbeing data).

Employment checks: maintaining the DBS list and processing DBS checks for existing and new staff.

SharePoint: maintaining HR Self Service folder, ensuring documents are up to date.

Appraisals: ensuring appraisal forms are logged and uploaded to ADP.

The Children's Society is delighted to embark on an exciting new partnership with BBC Children in Need in partnership with The Health Foundation and Impact on Urban Health to develop and deliver an innovative programme to improve children's mental health.
The funding is going to create a brand-new early support programme which will support children aged 8 - 13 years-old across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland with a strong focus on those children and families within marginalised communities. Our ambition is to support children and their families as early as possible to help prevent children developing and experiencing and mental health difficulties as they become teenagers.
The programme will offer one-to-one time-limited psychosocial interventions to children and their families. We will utilise solution-focussed approached to provide children and their families with a toolbox of strategies to help support the child's emotional health and wellbeing and manage their feelings. The direct work with children and families will be supported by digital interventions, through the use of our own wellbeing app “Me Time”.
About the role
We are looking for a creative, empathetic and organised practitioner who has experience of working with children and families around their wellbeing. You'll have excellent relational skills and have the ability to quickly build positive and trusting relationships with children and their families.
The role will be responsible for engaging children aged 8-13 and their parents, carers and family members where appropriate. You will deliver short term interventions to children who are struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing. These interventions will be face-to-face, over the phone and utilising our wellbeing app “Me Time”. The role will also work in partnership with other organisations and agencies such as schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHs), GPs and early help services.
In addition to working within your local team in Leeds you'll also form part of the National Programme, where you'll have the opportunity to connect with colleagues working across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

About the Role:
