The Role
The Trust had an income of £4.7m in year ending March 2024, excluding an exceptional legacy of £2.2m. To enable the charity to push ahead with this vital work to restore the natural environment across Staffordshire, income needs to be increased to £10m by 2030.
The Digital Marketing Lead will be the key contact for digital communications and marketing within the organisation, providing input into annual budgets and plans from the perspective of their expertise.
Your role will involve designing, testing, and delivering engaging campaigns, and mapping user journeys to enhance supporter experience.
This position is a new one, and one of the key recommendations of a fundraising research assignment conducted at the end of 2024.

About You
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and innovative storyteller to use their digital marketing skills to drive engagement and fundraising. You will be a motivated, resilient self-starter with experience of email marketing and engagement, including designing, testing and delivery for a complex organisation. The ability to create engaging content for various digital channels, a keen eye for detail and experience of crafting superb copy are essential.
You must be familiar working with data and analytics to extract insight to continually drive performance of communications and have experience of mapping user journeys through all touch points, including social media and the website, to enhance the quality of supporter experience.
Professional in any situation, you will be a strong ambassador for the Trust, passionate about the mission and able to share the vision across multiple audiences.

Digital Marketing
Create engaging brand social media content and publishing it across our channels, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok.

Create and edit photography and video content for our website and social media channels
Create and send out marketing emails using MailChimp and report on their performance.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Digital Marketing
A minimum of two years managing social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linked in.

About the role:
The Digital Officer is a key member of the Marketing and Digital team. We are a friendly, creative, and supportive team, responsible for raising awareness and growing the brand of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, as well as our website, email, social, direct mail, paid advertising and more. As Digital Officer you'll work closely with Marketing and digital colleagues, as well as fundraising teams across the organisation. It is also an exciting time to join our digital team, as this role will begin part way through a redevelopment of our website. - Support day-to-day management and improvement of the website. Includes content updates to ensure information is correct and up-to-date, and editing pages as needed across the site, following digital best practice.
- Support with the blog content calendar and blog content creation. Writing, building, publishing and optimising digital content, then measuring performance using tools like GA4 and Hotjar.
- Embedding and promoting digital best practice. Ensuring new content developed follows digital, SEO and UX best practices and supporting colleagues within the charity to understand and deliver the best digital experience across key campaigns by providing advice, recommendations and feedback.
- Supporting the wider Digital Team in delivering a training programme across the organisation, which will embed our new content creation process and build digital skills across the organisation.
To be successful in your application you'll need:
- Professional experience using CMS (Content Management Systems) and knowledge of website management, on-page and technical SEO and digital best practice. Knowledge of UX is desirable but not essential.
- Experience using data tools, such as Google Analytics for reporting and identifying actionable insights.
- Excellent copywriting, editorial and proofreading skills.
- Experience in writing for the web or digital channels and creating content tailored to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to communicate, work collaboratively and build good working relationships.

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a talented, creative and dedicated marketing professional to join our small but powerful team to help deliver our new strategy.
As a new role in the hospice’s Fundraising & Marketing Team, the Marketing & Communications Manager will join an existing team of fundraising managers working to maximise awareness and support of the hospice in order to ensure its long-term sustainability.
The postholder will be responsible for the operational management, development and delivery of marketing and communications to support the hospice’s income generation strategy, including line management of the Website Editor and Marketing & Communications Officer, and external agencies.
The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing professional, used to working closely with income generating teams. They will oversee the delivery of a compelling programme of multi-channel communications with the sole aim of increasing the awareness of and support for the charity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing and communications planning, delivery and performance management
- Working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, develop a clear marketing and communications plan to support the strategies for fundraising, retail and volunteering.
- Implement, monitor and analyse marketing and communications plans and budgets, producing impactful insights and reports to guide our ever-evolving work through all communication channels.
- Develop and maximise the marketing mix, identifying innovative initiatives and working across online and offline channels, to best support the promotion of all income generation activities across the hospice.
- Ensure compliance to industry standards and best practice at all times.
- Support the fundraising strategy in proactively researching and targeting audiences across the catchment area to ensure a broadening of reach and awareness of the breadth of the hospice’s services.
- Be forward facing and lead on engagement with clinical colleagues to promote the need for strong patient stories and effective storytelling to support fundraising.
- Ensure sufficient opportunities for collection of service user data to share news and promote activities.
- Proactively develop and streamline the long-term internal and external communications schedules across the charity.
- Lead on content creation, coordination and production of hospice marketing materials, protecting the reputation, brand and tone of Katharine House.
Operational delivery
- Lead on the writing and distribution of appropriate and engaging press releases, paid adverts, local village features and articles.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Officer to oversee delivery of a planned (and reactive) social media programme, maximising opportunities to increase our profile, using online planning and Analytical tools to plan and report on digital channels to improve targeting and supporter journeys.
- Work closely with the Website Editor to oversee and optimise the KHH website: creating and updating content for the charity and clinical colleagues, including the EPiC Resource Centre.
- Work with the Website Editor and Supporter Care team to ensure that integration of the CRM (Beacon) and website is optimised, to maximise supporter journeys, supporter preference compliance and insights.
- Work together with relevant charity and clinical colleagues and our designer to prepare, design and deliver high-quality marketing materials.
- Work with the Marketing & Communications Officer to oversee the production of the monthly supporter e-newsletters.
- Alongside your immediate team, manage production of the bi-annual Katharine House magazine from start to finish, with content and thematic planning with fundraising and volunteering managers.
- Lead on content creation to use across the charity. Continue to manage and regularly update our library (filed, captioned, tagged) of patient, staff and volunteer stories with consent, quality photography and video content for use across all of income generation.

The Fundraising and Communications Executive will play a key role in implementing OTR’s fundraising and communications strategies. - Create engaging multimedia digital content for websites, social media and our e-newsletter including written copy (blogs, news stories, content pages), video, and graphics using Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Lead on producing video content to promote CSE’s work, including planning, filming, and editing content using Premier Pro.
- Maintain CSE’s video library, including our internal folders, processes, and YouTube channel.
- Support the Senior Communications and Brand Manager to develop CSE’s suite of branded content. This includes creating branded templates for colleagues to use as well as designing digital and print materials for projects.
- With support from the wider comms team, ensure our online presence including website, social media, email marketing and digital advertising reflects strategic goals.
- Support the day-to-day management of CSE’s website, including uploading and editing content.
- Support the digital communications manager with digital channel optimisation including PPC, SEO, social media (paid and organic) as well as re-designing pages to enhance user experience (UX).
- Commission external videographers and photographers when appropriate, dictated by project and business needs.
- Responsible for producing CSE’s monthly e-news with support from the comms team to ensure CSE’s key work is promoted to external stakeholders.
- Regularly track digital metrics and analyse performance data to optimise messaging and strategies and responsibility for monthly reporting.

Essential attributes for this role include:
- Minimum Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
- 3- 5 years’ experience in communications, marketing, PR, or related field.
- Excellent copywriting and editing abilities.
- Proficient with CMS platforms, email marketing and social media management tools.
- Ability to create multimedia content, including high quality short videos.
