Mentor Liaison Officer - Youth Mix Mentor Programme

We need a Mentor Liaison Officer to join our award-winning small voluntary education charity, to support our exciting new mentor programme, Brighter Tomorrow, linking with our two partner charities, Women in Prison and Together - for Mental Wellbeing.
Youth Mix is a young people’s award-winning charity that’s about “Inspiring A Generation” empowering young people to be change-makers in their communities, as well as through projects that UNITE communities, EDUCATE on social issues, INSPIRE a generation of leaders and CREATE active citizens.
ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Mentor Liaision Officer to join our team supporting our exciting new mentor programme. This role will be reporting to the Operations Manager but will also work closely with the HR Manager as well as other key project people.
This volunteer will be our key contact for our Youth Mix Mentors. They will provide regular communication between Youth Mix and mentors, such as induction emails and meetings to confirm expectations as a mentor, monitoring the completion of mandatory training, updating them on progress of the project, updates on assigning a mentee and supporting their needs as required.
ROLE TITLE:

4 to 8 hours per week.

RESPONSIBLE TO:
Operations Manager / HR Manager
LOCATION:
Remote with in person meetings in London
Key duties will include the following:

Work with the HR Manager to complete the onboarding of mentors.

Work with the team to ensure timely allocation of mentee to mentor.

Work with the team to actively resolve any issues that prevent mentors from performing their duties.

Ensure mentors complete mandatory training. Check on progress, assign the right courses, collect and store certificates, updating the tracker and ensure timely reimbursements as necessary.

Keep up to date with any changes required to training courses and/or processes to ensure they are relevant. Suggest updates and improvements to mentor documentation as required.

Obtain feedback from mentors to improve the Mentoring Programme as appropriate.

Support the charity (from a mentor lens) as required by the Programme Manager/HR Manager and CEO to achieve the objectives of the project.
You must have:

Read Easy Hackney is a small but very impactful charity that supports adults living in Hackney to learn to read. Since becoming established in 2018, we have supported over 30 local residents to improve their literacy skills.
We are now seeking a fundraiser who lives or works in Hackney (ideally) to take over from the present post-holder who has been in the role for two years.
As Fundraiser, you will work closely with the Team Leader and Treasurer and, as a member of the Management Team, you will be expected to attend monthly team meetings, which take place on a Wednesday evening. (There are no meetings in January or July and August.) The Merchant’s House is embarking on an exciting new phase as we embed our new strategic plan, having opened for full visitor access for the first time in 2024. The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) is looking for enthusiastic volunteer ESOL teachers to support refugees and asylum seekers in in-person classes in Birmingham.
Who we are:
ACAA works to empower and support refugees and asylum seekers by providing vital services that enable successful integration. You will have the opportunity to shadow teachers and gain practical teaching experience before leading lessons. This is alongside training sessions for CPD (continued professional development), as you progress in the position you will take on more responsibility and develop your role. Classes meet both in-person and online and all days of the week (except Sunday), meaning you can teach any day that fits your schedule.
Duties will include:
- Preparing and delivering lessons to students of different ages and abilities
- Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and weekly hand-outs
- Assessing students' class work and assignments
- Creating an engaging and fun teaching atmosphere
- Ensuring all our students engage in academic learning despite their ability, to achieve their highest potential whilst developing personal and employability skills
- Setting effective targets to monitor students’ progress
- Supporting and motivating students to allow them to grow and enhance their own skills by both achieving qualifications and becoming ready for work
Personal requirements:
- Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not essential as support is provided
- ESOL qualification or equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Good listening skills
- DBS checked or willingness to be
- Planning and organisational skills

We hold a position in the UK’s cultural landscape as a diverse-led company that is internationally renowned, award-winning, and making transformative theatre through a collaborative devising process we’ve refined over 18 years.
Our purpose is to highlight complex but urgent socio-political issues through theatre which is entertaining and accessible. We create ambitious, experimental productions that contribute to national conversations and provide opportunities for audiences to engage, respond and contribute to lesser heard perspectives on universal themes.
Looking towards an exciting future, our current trustees wish to further transform and develop the board. Through broadening the skills, knowledge and lived experience of the trustees we will ensure Ad Infintum's board is representative of the work we make and the people we make work with and for.
In 2024-25, we wish to recruit new trustees to our board from across the following sectors and areas of expertise:

People with finance, organisational development, fundraising or governance expertise working in the public or cultural sector

People with experience of working with and in communities, particularly in Bristol and the surrounding area

We want our board to represent and give a voice to the collaborators we work with, our core team, our city and our audiences. We believe that a diverse board will lead to stronger and more effective governance.
