We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Policy and Practice Change team promotes practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and secures systems change through research, policy and advocacy.
About the role
This senior role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC, particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Policy and Practice Change team. Through systematic and efficient management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability.
The role will oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through oversight and line management of finance, operations and administrative staff. The post holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children's Rights and department heads in the successful running of our services. Where appropriate they will deputise for the Managing Director on financial, operational and compliance matters.
Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for specialist financial functions within CCLC, particularly legal aid billing. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who focus on grant fund management and overall accounting for CCLC.
The role would suit a highly organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, are welcomed. However, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, candidates with broad operational and financial management experience but a strong aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems will be considered.
This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).The finance team are split between the London and Colchester offices and the post holder should expect some travel.
Whilst this is a full-time position, we will consider requests for part-time working and we will endeavour to offer some flexibility with days and hours to be agreed.

Job Title: Fundraising Officer (Trusts)

We have an opportunity to join our Fundraising Team as Fundraising Officer, raising the funds that enable young people to benefit from our life-changing programmes.
The majority of the successful candidate’s time will be spent in growing an already established Trusts and Foundations income stream; you will be responsible for writing applications to and managing relationships with small and medium grant-makers (giving up to c.£10k). You will have the autonomy to manage your own portfolio of new and existing funders, with support from the Head of Fundraising, and will support the wider fundraising team with research needs.
This is an exciting time to join the Power2 fundraising team, as we aim to grow and diversify our income sources. The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to be involved in the growth and development of new areas of fundraising and to be involved in activities reflecting their own interests and career aspirations.
Direct experience is not essential for this role – more important is that you possess transferable skills and can demonstrate experience in distilling complex information from a range of sources and communicating it in a persuasive, engaging way to different audiences. The successful candidate will therefore have excellent communication skills, be highly numerate and a great team player and collaborator.

Strategy
• Work with the Board to successfully deliver the CiC future ambitions and 5-Year Roadmap. Specifically, lead the 5-Year Financial Plan; the Organisational Development Plan – including the 12-month Operational Plan; and the 5-Year People Plan
• Ensure organisational readiness to ensure TMS can respond positively and at pace to new opportunities
• Lead the development and implementation of the TMS 5-Year Financial Plan to support delivery of the 5-Year Roadmap
• Support the Business Development Officer (BDO) to deploy effective horizon scanning and networking to keep abreast of relevant international, national and local opportunities that provides opportunities for business development and community impact.
Governance
- Lead oversight of project delivery and responsibility for flagging matters for escalation as appropriate to the Board
- Lead operational management and administration of TMS within the frameworks established by the Board
- Ensure the Board are kept fully updated and advised in line with the 5-Year Roadmap. Specifically, lead the 5-Year Financial Plan; the Organisational Development Plan – including the 12-month Operational Plan; and the 5-Year People Plan
- Lead development, implementation and adherence of TMS policies and procedures and ensure they are regularly reviewed against current best practice
- Ensure that TMS meets all of its obligations as a CiC with all regulatory and compliance bodies
- Implement, manage and develop the TMS Operational and Delivery Governance framework on behalf of the Board
- Co-ordinate monthly reporting and provision of performance data to support delivery of the TMS Operational and Delivery Governance framework
- Work closely with the TMS Finance partners and management team to formulate budgets and forecasts
- Keep the Board appraised of the financial performance and position of TMS, monitor against budgets/forecasts and take any necessary corrective action

Quality
• Ensure that all TMS services are delivered to a high standard, and to identify, recommend and implement measures to improve the quality of services
• Ensure the organisation continues to demonstrate good quality by compliance with the quality requirements of service agreements, and with existing quality marks and accreditations
• Ensure management of projects to meet stakeholder expectations with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Marketing, External Communication & PR
• Support the BDO to be an ambassador and spokesperson for TMS at events, meetings and other networking activities with key stakeholders in order to promote TMS.
• Support the BDO to maintain and develop effective networks with principal stakeholders and TMS collaborators within respective area of responsibilities outlined in the 5-Year Roadmap.

Partnership Lead
Job Purpose
The Partnership Lead will play a key role in operationalising and overseeing the support for approximately 34 school hubs across England, contributing to local school improvement. They will also take the lead in operationalising the renewal of all schools across the Challenge Partners network.
Schools within Challenge Partners subscribe annually and join forces in local hubs, spanning England from Cornwall to County Durham. The hub works together over the course of the academic year pulling together a Hub Action Plan, which aims to tackle collectively agreed priorities using funding from Challenge Partners. Challenge Partners hubs provide the local element of our collaborative partnership.
The Partnership Lead will build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and hold responsibility for ensuring all hubs have everything they need to provide an excellent experience to schools. They will also support the renewal of all schools, through leading excellent Customer Care practices and operationalising the annual retention campaign, working with the Partnership Development Manager. They will work closely with the Partnership Experience Manager and the team of Partnership Coordinators to ensure excellent delivery.
Established in 2011, Challenge Partners is a well-respected nationwide network of practitioners who engage in hard-edged collaboration and mutual accountability to ensure every school community can benefit from the combined wisdom of the education system.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Partnership Experience Manager, the Partnership Lead will have the following key areas of responsibility and will be expected to undertake other responsibilities commensurate with the role as requested:
Partnership Delivery and Development
Individual Partnership Delivery and Development responsibilities:

Implement the annual cycle of hub work, including planning and implementing key partnership correspondence, activities and events.

Support up to five hubs of their own, working closely with internal teams to ensure a high-quality experience for schools across all selected Challenge Partners activities.

Lead the renewals campaign for all schools across the partnership, proactively escalating any renewal concerns, and monitoring and reporting renewals data.

Oversee the monitoring of the Partnership inbox, ensuring all queries are dealt with by a member of the team promptly and effectively.

Manage the Partnership budget; monitoring spending and signing off invoices within agreed budgets, including hub funding.

Lead on ensuring an excellent experience for schools in Challenge Partners. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring risks and mitigating/escalating as appropriate, and leading on Customer Care and Pricing Governance issues.

Support the Partnership Experience Manager to deliver improvements to the quality of our hubs, ensuring all schools are getting excellent value. This includes, but is not limited to the engagement of new technologies, processes and ways of working.

Data Management and Systems

Ensure school data is accurately recorded on Salesforce (our CRM system) and work closely with the Data and Systems Lead to improve systems and processes.

Monitor and report renewals data to inform renewals progress, predictions and strategy.

Implementation of annual partnership evaluation work with the support of the Partnership Experience Manager.
Event Planning, Organisation and Monitoring

Lead on the planning, logistics and delivery of an annual National Induction event for all new and rejoining schools, working with the Partnership Experience Manager and Leadership Team to agree event design.

Liaise with speakers, venues and suppliers to ensure high quality delivery of the National Induction.

Coordinate the team effectively to ensure excellent event delivery.

Work closely with the marketing team to create a social media plan to showcase the National Induction.

Monitor event quality and delivery, including dealing with and escalating issues to ensure positive solutions are reached.
Line Management

About the Role

Purpose
This is an exciting time at CBM UK, as we continue to grow and develop our philanthropic
fundraising. To help us achieve our ambitious long-term goals this role requires an
experienced and passionate individual to be part of our Philanthropy Team.
This vital role will lead the programme to build and grow our relationships with High-Net-
Worth Individuals (Major Donors) over the next five years and beyond. Working alongside
the Head of Philanthropy, you will seek to build upon current relationships, as well as
identifying, researching and cultivating relationships with new and lapsed major donors to
increase income for CBM UK’s work.

You will be part of a dynamic and highly skilled Fundraising and Communications team,

Responsibilities and areas of work
This important role will seek to develop our Major Donor income stream, seeking to grow
both numbers of donors and income raised. At CBM, a Major Donor is considered to be
one who has the capacity to give £5,000+ per year and who relishes the opportunity to
have one-to-one, personalised interactions with CBM.
This role will seek to identify new high-level donors, as well as help to develop existing
relationships with our generous supporters.
Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Leadership Team, other team
members and (occasionally) external consultants, this role focusses on building and
consolidating our major donor portfolio, so increasing our donor base and thus our in-year
and pledged income.
Main Goal:
To successfully steward a portfolio of new and existing major donors through tailored
approaches, so securing repeat and multi-year gifts to achieve agreed income targets and
KPIs.
This will be achieved through:
1. New business acquisition:
a) Analysing our current supporter base to build a prospect list, using our database
(Salesforce) and external databases, to assess the potential to upgrade active,
lapsed and prospective major donors.
b) Researching, identifying and securing major donor prospects, through the
identification of high-net-worth individuals who may have an interest in CBM’s work,
and through proactive and effective networking, including working with our Trustees,
Patrons and Ambassadors.
c) Identifying next steps and determining tactics for engagement, including 1:1
working, giving group presentations and delivering pitches at various levels, and
leading on their facilitation.
d) Attending networking opportunities in Cambridge, London and the surrounding
areas to represent CBM and to engage potential major donors in our work
2. Stewardship and cultivation of current and active donors:
a) Developing and implementing tailored cultivation and stewardship plans, so that
individuals are engaged in a bespoke manner, ensuring that they feel a part of CBM
and that their generosity is recognised, through regular reporting, interactions,
updates and tailored approaches.
b) Developing donor-centric applications, proposals and initial approaches (by post,
email, phone and face-to-face) that are driven by insight on donors’ individual needs
and preferences and are tailored to their interests and requirements, following up as
required.
c) Reporting to donors in both formal and informal ways, as appropriate, to ensure
they are kept up to date with CBM, the impact of their grant and project
developments.
d) Hosting and facilitating face-to-face and online meetings with high-level donors,
including organising dates, venues and agendas/ talking points, and creating
Meeting Briefs for all attendees to ensure positive outcomes as far as possible.
e) Promoting the importance of legacies, and legacy income, where appropriate, and
to steward those who have pledged.
f) Organising and managing the successful delivery of at least one Major Donor Event
annually (cultivation, stewardship, thanking etc), to ensure positive relations and
potential new business, in collaboration with our Fundraising and Programme
colleagues.
g) Supporting the Head of Philanthropy and the Philanthropy Officer on the
identification, stewardship and cultivation of potential corporate partners.
3. Proposal and Report Writing
a) Crafting compelling proposals and reports that meet the bespoke needs of major
donors whilst meeting the needs of CBM and our Programme delivery colleagues,
within agreed deadlines.
b) Working with members of the Programmes Team to ensure the accuracy of major
donor proposals / reports, and with members of the Fundraising & Communications
Team to ensure consistency of messaging.
c) Working with the Philanthropy Team to develop new projects/ themes/ appeals for
potential projects.
d) Supporting the Head of Philanthropy on collating information and providing reports
to Foundation donors as needed.
4. Planning and Budgeting
a) Contributing to the development of an Income Generation and Engagement
strategy, led by the Director of Fundraising, Impact & Communications.
b) Closely monitoring income and expenditure, reporting to the Head of Philanthropy
where necessary, and contributing to the creation of yearly fundraising budgets and
plans and quarterly Board Reports.
c) Establishing, monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, milestones
and targets to facilitate informed decisions and improved working practice.

a) Ensuring all information, donor activity is recorded and kept up-to-date on our
database to fully-inform any approaches/meetings.

About CARIS Families
CARIS Families is a small, frontline charity that supports families who are homeless and living in overcrowded multi-occupant hostels in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Camden. Life in temporary accommodation hostels entrenches children and their parents in poverty and disadvantage. Families suffer from acute overcrowding, inadequate basic facilities and a permanent sense of unsafety. The nature of hostel life isolates people from their support networks, decimates their physical and mental health and becomes an adverse life experience in itself for families already suffering the trauma of having become homeless.
CARIS Families exists to provide early intervention to mitigate the worst effects of hostel life and homelessness for children and parents in our four target hostels. We do this by providing hands-on play, learning and social activities to help children meet their potential, improve families’ wellbeing and build their support network. We provide a holistic family support service that case-works with each family individually to reduce financial and other pressures on them as they wait for a permanent home. We also use our data and learned experiences about temporary accommodation to join campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation policy and practice, both locally and nationally.
We have just received funding to employ a dedicated Housing Rights Manager for the next two years. This is an exciting addition to our team, as it will be our first staff member dedicated to helping our homeless families with their housing case. The housing system is notoriously opaque: families tell us it can be a hopeless minefield to navigate independently and that they often can’t access meaningful help with it, resulting in years-long hostel stays. Our Housing Rights Manager will step into the gap and work with families on an individual basis to gain the information and support they need to progress their housing case and expedite their move-on into a suitable home.

They will manage a weekly drop-in clinic from within the hostels where they will assess new housing cases and develop a support plan with families. They will manage a full housing caseload of housing support work, collaborating with relevant local groups, local authority partners and law centres to progress families’ housing cases. They will learn from the barriers families tell us they face, develop CARIS Families’ housing advice service in response and use these learnings to contribute to campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation practices and policies locally and nationally.
In their first year, the Housing Rights Manager will work in partnership with housing solicitors at Shelter to write a Housing Information and Rights handbook tailored to the processes of our target boroughs. The handbook will aim to demystify the temporary accommodation system in our two boroughs, explain residents’ legal rights and help them understand their options. It will form a key part of the support we can offer and allow us to reach many more families in hostels than our small staff team can individually casework with.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed staff team of just 5, working in a person-centred and community-minded way to make a real difference to families on the frontline of inner-London’s housing crisis.
