the3million is looking for a new Community Organiser to help us build the power of EU citizens in the UK and of their non-EU family members, working alongside two other Organisers in our team and the members of our EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network
Since Brexit, EU citizens in the UK and their family members have been brought under the Hostile Environment. the3million has been providing information to EU citizens and has continuously advocated for a fairer immigration system, especially in making the EU Settlement Scheme more accessible to all.
We provide a platform for EU citizens to become politically active and use their voices to advocate for themselves. The Community Organiser will be part of a team to create opportunities for EU citizens to have increased capacity to engage in activism and lead the change they want to see in the UK, their home.
This role is at an officer level and suitable for people who are looking for their first paid role in Organising, but have had some grassroots experience, even if on an informal or voluntary basis. You can expect to be mentored by an experienced Community Organiser and thereby learn a lot while on the job. More experienced candidates are also welcome to apply.We are currently in the process of applying for funding to extend this role. If we are successful, the contract will be extended by 2 years and we will work with the successful Organiser on a progression route, reviewing the job holder’s salary level after they have been in the role for 6 months.
Position type: Part time, between 3 to 4 days a week, depending on the successful candidate’s preference
Duration: 4 months (September - December 2024) with possibility of a 2 year extension from January 2025, subject to funding
Salary: £30,000-32,000, depending on experience, with possibility of salary increase subject to funding and successful probation period
Location: Remote, must be UK based. Regular travel across the country to meet local community groups. All travel expenses covered.

**About the3million**
We are the leading organisation representing EU citizens and their non-EU family members in the UK. Our vision is a world where our communities can thrive, reach their potential and have an equal voice in UK society.
Our work ranges from monitoring the implementation of the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement, advocating for the integration of EU citizens throughout all sections of society, informing people of their rights, promoting access to justice, and giving EU citizens a voice in British society to change the narrative on migration as a whole.
We are a grassroots and non-partisan organisation, working with a variety of stakeholders, from MPs to NGOs, legal advisors, the media and community leaders across civic society on specific issues affecting migrants’ rights. We regularly engage with the Home Office and its monitoring bodies to advocate for change.
**Duties and responsibilities **
1. Co-lead the3million’s “EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network”

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to recruit more members of the EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network by regularly reaching out to relevant communities and booking 1-1 meetings with key community leaders;

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to support and guide our existing Network members made up of over 40 community leaders who have a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience in campaigning, developing their confidence and ability to become effective change-makers and encouraging them to take coordinated, strategic actions to advance our campaigns;

Co-facilitate monthly Network meetings: setting agendas, facilitating Breakout rooms, taking minutes and following up with Network members on their agreed actions;

Support the3million’s campaigns by supporting our Head of Policy and Advocacy on our MP-facing work in Parliament and our Communications Manager to ensure that our campaigns are featured on our social media, newsletters and clearly communicated to key stakeholders such as partner organisations in the migration sector and to key community leaders on the ground
2. Relationship-building and in-person workshops

Rolling out a series of “listening sessions” and “Know Your Rights” workshops with community groups across the country: liaising with relevant community leaders to visit them and their communities, this may include working on Saturdays (and taking time off in lieu during the week) and running in-person sessions. You will receive guidance on the format from the Community Organiser - Campaigns but will be the main person delivering such sessions on the ground.
3. Professional learning and development
- Taking a proactive approach to your learning and development towards becoming a confident and versatile Community Organiser and Campaigns specialist, you will have regular check-ins with your line manager (Community Organiser - Political Campaigns) and engage in an ongoing process of evaluation, thereby reflecting on the work you are carrying out to draw out learning and being willing to stretch yourself. Depending on your current level of experience as an Organiser, you may be set assignments such as reading recommended articles/books, listening to relevant podcasts, attending specific training sessions, etc.

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is a 21st century youth hub located at the heart of Blackburn and a dedicated site in Darwen, open to young people aged 5 to 25 years old, aiming to change the prospects offered to young people in the area. We are one of the leading youth organisations in Blackburn, with a membership of over 2,500 young people. We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year and offer over 40 different activities and opportunities in our open access youth club.
Context of Role:
The Youth Club Coordinator role is a crucial role within our mission of making sure B&DYZ is “the Number One Service for young people”. You will be responsible for the coordination, leadership, planning and delivery of Darwen Youth Zone Youth Club provision for young people aged 13 to 19 years (21 with a disability). Working positively, collaboratively and at pace with an enthusiastic and energetic youth work team, you will ensure our programme and offer for young people is of high quality, meets the needs of every young person in Blackburn with Darwen and ensures our offer reflects and exceeds on the wishes, needs and views of young people.
You will hold line management responsibility seeking to ensure that there is strong evidence of effective performance in line with our vision, mission, values and strategic objectives. Senior Finance Business Partners (Academic) provide strategic and financial management support to faculties; ensuring finance remains at the heart of decision making by providing expert advice and rigorous challenge and assurance.
The role will support the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & engineering Sciences (NMES) and our Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) providing executive support to Faculty and executive leadership, resolving issues and representing Finance at senior committees. You will regularly liaise with senior stakeholders, building rapport, trust and demonstrating your ability to problem solve.
This role is expected to lead on the production of monthly management accounts, providing valuable insights and analysis to support senior decision making. Both areas are significant in size and scope requiring multi-disciplinary finance expertise in both finance business partnering and management accounting. Continuing focus on finance capability and strengthening the finance span within the areas you partner will be an important aspect of the role in delivering effective financial management. You will be expert, enthusiastic and an approachable finance professional with strong interpersonal skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate the FBP team supporting NMES and CIEL in relation to the regular forecasting and reporting cycle for faculty income and expenditure budgets; including tuition, research and operational expenditure
- Providing finance business partnering support across at both a senior and operational level; working closely with finance contacts for routine financial reporting
- Providing rigorous challenge and assurance to stakeholder across all financial aspects including business case development, financial controls and routine financial management
- Ensuring timely, accurate and insightful management information to budget holders; providing expert analysis to support decision making

The role holder will be based at Lavington Street in central London with the option of regular co-location with senior stakeholders situated on other KCL Campus’ in central London. Location: The role will be based out of the BookTrust Offices in Cardiff. The funding will be used to engage our local community in nature and climate learning activities, connecting them with the rural environment, increasing their connection to their surroundings and encouraging them to understand what it means to them. About this key role
You will provide an immediate safeguarding response, supporting children and young people back to London when they are arrested outside of area, utilising the reachable moment to provide meaningful intervention to young people at risk of exploitation, plus provide follow up support once the young person has returned to their home region, which will include one-to-one and telephone contact.

Role Purpose:
As the Pathway Coordinator – Hospital Discharge you will work closely with colleagues within the Wellbeing Collaborative and across the organisation, to develop and deliver our innovative offer in the acute hospitals and community reablement across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, to co-create local solutions enabling the community to better access the support the voluntary and community sector (VCS) has to offer.
The role will see you:
- Interact with patients on a face-to-face basis, actively listen and understand their needs ahead of leaving hospital.
- Provide connection to appropriate community support, ahead of discharge. Helping them to return home safely, avoid re-admittance and stay healthy and independent for longer.
- Following a referral from hospital teams, ahead of discharge.
- Develop relationships with professional teams including the Discharge Coordinators and Discharge Key Workers
- Engage in multi-disciplinary discussions in relation to community support available post discharge.
- Work with colleagues efficiently and effectively to distribute one-off wellbeing grants to enable discharge from hospital in a safe and timely manner.
- Identify and highlight gaps in provision at point of discharge from hospital, and work with community groups to identify how best they could support.
- Support the team in the trialling of integrated volunteering into community wellbeing pathways.
- Work as part of the team on a duty roster for a minimum 2 days a week signposting people and professionals to relevant local community service providers.
- Work with the team to monitor and evaluate the Wellbeing Collaborative to ensure our objectives are achieved and evidenced.
- Support the Pathway Coordinator Team Lead to implement a robust and effective communications strategy which not only champions and promotes the work CAN does but also its members.
- Champion the CAN membership and the support we can provide to communities and grassroots groups as well as to our statutory colleagues.
- Maintain a good level of understanding and information on related CAN services and work closely with other colleagues across the organisation to represent the wider organisation at community events.

About you:

About the Role
The Reconnect Worker works closely with the Deputy Prevention Services Manager and the housing team at Adur and Worthing Council, you will be responsible for setting up and running our new Reconnect service. Through offering a structured support package including family mediation, you will help young people to return, or stay in, the family home, and where not appropriate we will enable young people to rebuild support networks vital to successful independent living.
You will work collaboratively with all Depaul colleagues and services across the region, as well as with external agencies, to build and maintain a caseload of clients experiencing family difficulties and at risk of homelessness. You will work with clients facing a variety of situations, including young people who are experiencing a breakdown in their family relationships and are experiencing homelessness for the first time, as well as those who have left their homes and are temporarily staying with our volunteer Nightstop hosts.

About You
You will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience working with young people and families in crisis; reflective, creative and solution-focused in your approach and committed to working in an assets-based way.
- To hold or complete a Level 4 Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner’s Certificate (IMPC). Training will be provided if the candidate doesn’t have the qualification, but training will have to be completed before the end of the probation period.

About the team
A key part of a broader Communications, Policy and Campaigns division, our media team serves the media needs of the whole organisation. Collaboration and relationship building skills are the name of the game, as we work closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders and external partners to generate influential coverage across Shelter’s campaigns, fundraising, community and services outputs. Our aim is to make sure housing and homelessness rides high on the political and public agenda through timely and powerful storytelling. We help Shelter to deliver change by amplifying our hard-hitting research, giving a platform to people directly impacted by the housing emergency, profiling our incredible services, capitalising on high-profile supporters and partnerships, and by swiftly seizing reactive opportunities.

This senior media officer position is an exciting role that’s been created in partnership with our High Value Partnerships team to help boost the media cut through and support the smooth running of our partnerships with big brand names like Ikea, HSBC, B&Q and Marks & Spencer. It is a new role that you will have the opportunity to mould within a supportive framework and team.
But you won’t just work closely with our corporate partners and internal income generating teams, you will also have the chance to flex your skills and get stuck into a whole range of media activities that drive forward our organisational strategy. You’ll also play a big part in the day to day running of a busy press office, get to matrix manage high profile projects, and deputise for the Media Managers as necessary.

About you
Creative and results driven, you have extensive knowledge of media across print, online and broadcast channels, as well as the different tools and tactics in the PR toolbox. You know what makes something newsworthy and how to land high-impact coverage, and , you’re great at translating research and information into pithy soundbites and key messages suitable for public audiences. What’s more you’re used to thinking on your feet and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
A knack for building rapport and relationships with lots of different people is essential too, as is the enthusiasm, expertise, and collaborative approach to work that can help to upskill other teams to better understand and utilise the media to meet our shared goals. Crucially, you have a keen grasp of what journalists and producers are looking for and are as comfortable speaking to a consumer journalist, as you are the policy editor of the Times– and you will know how to tailor your pitch accordingly.
Adept at managing your own time and projects, and happy to contribute new ideas and try different approaches, you also know what it takes to support, enable and motivate others. Your keen eye for risks and opportunities, and strong attention to detail will help ensure your team and colleagues deliver to a high standard. Finally, while prior knowledge of housing and homelessness is not a requirement, you must have a passion for social justice. There’s a huge amount we need to achieve together, and you’ll need to thrive on this challenge.
