We have a new opportunity for a specialist Dual Diagnosis Worker to join the team in Croydon on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a new role to the team and you will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will work to the long term support needs of our residents and work towards facilitating improved outcomes.
Our service has 27 residents across 4 sites, which specialise in Forensic Mental Health aiming to enable and empower our residents to achieve their maximum levels of functional independence and enhance their sense of wellbeing.
Shift Pattern: This role is full time 37.5 hours per week. Hours to be discussed, you will be based in service.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant needs.
Include appropriate substance misuse interventions within support plans for those with co-occurring substance dependence and mental health need devising systematic plans for care; implementing this plan; coordinating the input of others and evaluating effectiveness. - Undertake joint holistic assessments and risk assessments with residents/participants to help determine service and support needs and identify where these can be met. Provide outcome-based support measured against goals, recovery, and achievements.
- Encourage residents/participants to identify and define their own goals and work towards being resilient and independent as possible, support with reducing reliance on clinical interventions and hospitalisations.
- Promote active involvement of those with dual diagnosis, assist residents/participants to identify their own strengths, personal interests and goals and support them to access and participate in activities of their choice.
- Undertake time-limited, SMART, and a range of evidence-based interventions such as 1-1’s, including harm minimisation, increasing awareness and motivation through stages of change and relapse prevention.
- Support in creating and maintaining a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents/participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
- Positively promote and support connections with local communities and boroughs of SIG’s services and liaise with other teams to maintain and share knowledge and links to support people to access resources which include print, personal and digital.
- Develop community links and liaise regularly with a range of agencies and individuals across voluntary and third sector services in the community including but not limited to; drug and alcohol services, supported employment schemes, gyms and healthy living programmes, recovery colleges, and benefits and advice agencies.
- Act as a role model for staff of all disciplines and grades working with people with co-occurring mental health, alcohol and/or drug problems.
- Share knowledge and skills to help enhance awareness around dual diagnosis and best practice, challenges, and services available with other services of Social Interest Group.

KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with people of complex backgrounds. Ideally ex-offenders, those with enduring mental health, substance misuse and challenging behaviours
- Experience of assessing needs and strengths, and supporting people with dual diagnosis and complex needs
- Previous experience in a similar role, providing holistic assessments and support for people experiencing mental illness who use substances
- IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
- Able to recognise ill health and additional support and need for interventions
- Knowledge of the interactions between mental health problems and drug and alcohol use and the issues facing people trying to stabilise their situation
- Applied knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and risk management, particularly in relation to harm minimisation
- Ability to engage those who may be hard to reach, able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others
What we would like, but not essential:
- Experience in delivering training in motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Theory informed approaches and other relevant recovery models

FareShare Midlands is the region’s largest food redistribution charity. We take good-to-eat surplus food from the food industry and get it to our Members - frontline charities and community groups all over the Midlands. We turn an environmental problem into a social solution.
Last year we redistributed almost 5,794 tonnes of food from our warehouses in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham. It is sorted and stored by our dedicated teams of staff and volunteers, and then redistributed to around 800 Members including food pantries and cafes, homeless shelters and drop-in centers. These local organisations turn the food into food parcels, affordable shopping and delicious meals for people of all ages. As well as food, our Members provide vital support to families and the elderly, many of whom are facing challenging circumstances and living in poverty.
Last year our food reached more than 83,000 vulnerable people every week, providing 13 million meals. At the same time, we are growing our Employability Programmes to help people gain work experience, skills and jobs.
Hunger is a growing issue in the UK and while there is surplus food that is otherwise going to waste, we believe that this food should be used to feed people first.
The Role
At Nechells we are fortunate to have over 80 dedicated Volunteers that commit their time to ensure our 200 local Community Food Members receive the much-needed food to support their communities. Working with a wide range of Volunteers, you will be responsible for all aspects of volunteer support including but not limited to recruitment, induction, administration, co-ordination and engagement of our Volunteers. Essential health and safety compliance documentation and record keeping is a crucial element of the role as is working closely with the Operational staff, to coordinate all the Volunteer scheduling rota. A large aspect of the role with be overseeing the Corporate Volunteers that regularly attend the depot for their day of Volunteering. This customer facing element of the position is exciting and rewarding. You will also be the first and key point of contact of our diverse group of Volunteers, organising engagement events to completing risk assessments when required.

The Senior Communications Officer role:

About the Role
Could you be an integral part of the Bedford service by delivering support to individuals to improve their mental wellbeing, raises aspirations and increases confidence?
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our Bedford Mental Health Prevention service for adults which aims to improve people’s mental wellbeing, raise aspirations and enhance confidence.
As a Recovery Worker you will be at the heart of the service, delivering all aspects of the service, building positive relationships with those using the service and strong links into the wider community resources that Bedford provides.
Service Delivery
You will deliver topic focussed, group wellbeing sessions along with facilitating drop-in, activity sessions that provide a safe environment for service users to talk openly and develop practical tools, techniques and coping strategies in order to manage their own wellbeing. Sessions will enable people to have a better understanding of their own mental health, what is needed to keep them well, and to engage in wider community activities, be socially active and develop aspirations in expanding their skills and ambitions.
You will also offer informal 1-2-1 support where needed, to offer guidance and information that reduces the chance that people will fall through gaps, be isolated and ensuring the right support and the right time that manages a range of needs.
In addition, you will assess individuals’ suitability for the service and signpost where necessary. There will also be opportunity to support events in the community to raise awareness of our services and build links with local organisations
You will need to be empathetic and deliver a person-centred approach in a non-judgemental way, collaborating with people to empower and engage them.

Big Issue Changing Lives CIC is looking for an Support and Outreach Assistant to support the direct the direct delivery of services to individuals participating in Big Issue enterprises, including selling the Big Issue magazine. The core of the role is facilitating access for members of our Roma Communities to the Hand Up Service and other local services, resources and networks required to address the barriers they are facing to moving forwards out of poverty. Where local services and resources are not available you will also support the Outreach Team with the delivery of information, guidance and some direct interventions, such as training sessions, directly.
This is self-starter role in which you’ll be responsible for connecting with potential service users within the Roma community, introducing the service to them, sharing information from our Hand Up plus services and supporting them to engage with the core Hand Up service. You’ll be working within a small team of Outreach workers and will work to maintain a set of Service Standards which help maintain the quality of the service nationally.
The role is highly flexible and no two days are the same. You’ll bring your own experience and knowledge to the role, as well as your ability to speak Romanian. We will support you to build on that through an ongoing training and development programme which aims to ensure all Hand Up Service Team members have up to date, relevant, knowledge in key areas including housing, benefits, debt, immigration and more. In the course of a day, you’ll usually be working with service users across multiple of these issues and supporting engagement with a wide range of external agencies such as health services, local authorities, charities and more, to get access to services for those you are supporting.
Your main roles and responsibilities will be:
- Undertake phone and in person outreach to introduce the Hand Up service to Roma Big Issues vendors
- Delivery of direct intervention to Roma vendors using guidance and resources provided
- Join meetings with Roma Vendors and Outreach Workers to support with action planning and provision of support and guidance
- Support with translation and interpretation within your local team to enable accessibility of the service for Roma vendors
- Support the local Hand Up Service to build current knowledge of local and national agencies that can support Roma vendors
- Support the organisation and delivery with Roma Vendors of 1-2-1 and group training sessions and drop-ins
- Ensure that your work meets service standards and targets and complete surveys with vendors as required
- Involving Roma service users in the service design and delivery as local and national opportunities arise
- Adhere to all required policies and procedures including with regards to safeguarding, lone and safe working, case work management and expenses and finances

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a Recovery Worker to join our women's only refuge in Hove. The service supports 18 women with a trauma informed approach using a psychologically informed environment model to provide high quality, person centred support to all our residents.
You will support with a range of frontline care and support activities within the service, in a varied role. We provide mentoring and peer support groups to people in Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and the neighbouring boroughs.
We’re open to everyone, but we target those who face the most challenges: 93% of the people we work with describe themselves as coming from a racialized group, 85% of the families we support are single-parent households headed by a woman, and 75% of the children we support are eligible for free school meals. We also run specialized programmes of support for people seeking asylum and those with refugee status. Last year we provided one-to-one mentoring to over 246 people, and group support to a further 252 people. With increasing demand for our services, we expect to provide direct support to over 350 individuals in the coming year.
In our programme of support for parents, we have two primary programmes, a ‘Mentoring for Mothers’, for women with children aged 5+, which aims to improve well-being, confidence, connectedness and reduce loneliness. We also run Women’s Support Groups, which are friendly, relaxed spaces for women to meet, socialise, share challenges, offer support to one another and find out about services that meet their needs.
POSITION SUMMARY
In partnership with the local authority, Unfold is developing a new programme in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in support of the families who have been made homeless or are at risk of homelessness who are accommodated in Bed & Breakfast and commercial hotels, within and outside of the borough. Collaborating with local family services and public health team, Unfold will offer

As an Outreach & Programme Coordinator Officer, you will be visiting the families and carrying out a screening to identify priority needs for appropriate signposting and connecting the families back to local services in Kensington & Chelsea. Part of the role will be to set up and run a weekly Women’s Support Group aiming to support the families build connections and find about further services in Kensington & Chelsea or in their new areas. Mentoring is part of the support women will be able to access, and as the Outreach & Programme Coordinator Officer you will be identifying women who are ready to engage in mentoring and working with Unfold colleagues to match them with a mentor, supporting mentoring pairs in their time together.
At Unfold, we work with people with different needs, ages, and backgrounds, so the right person for this role needs to be a great communicator, enjoys connecting with people, has empathy and understands the challenges families face in temporary accommodation arrangements.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Outreach
- Create a plan for visiting on a regular basis all Bed & Breakfast and commercial hotels in five main London boroughs where families have been placed.
- Act as a friendly face who families will trust, building recognition and local knowledge.
- Conduct an initial screening on location to summarise the families’ – both parents and children presenting circumstances.
- Following project referral pathways, share findings of the screening with partner services in Kensington and Chelsea, ensuring that appropriate services are notified.
- Assist families to engage with family support services in Kensington & Chelsea.
- Assist families to access local services in the borough the hotel is located within if appropriate.
- Signpost to local wellbeing activities to meet needs identified by the family, taking into consideration their specific needs and interests.
- Update appropriate resources and signposting materials.
- Identify risks and escalate them in a timely manner to appropriate services.
Women’s Support Group Facilitation & Coordination
- With the support of the Programme Manager, set up and coordinate one weekly Women’s Support Group, following Unfold’s peer support model.
- Create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere so that members feel at ease and able to determine group activities.
- Conduct monitoring of the WSG, including new member registration and attendance.
- Coordinate resources and materials needed for the smooth running of the sessions and signposting.
- Plan groups to meet the needs of members, with lively and engaging sessions in response to needs of group members, coordinating visits from external partners in health, wellbeing, culture and arts.
- Be proactive in outreach and communications to the group, maximising participation and ensuring that everyone feels welcome.
Mentoring Support
- Promote mentoring to women in hotels and B&Bs, so that they’re aware of the benefits and feel they can take up the offer when they’re ready.
- Identify and onboard participants who are ready for mentoring.
- Organise and run assessment and matching sessions for five women, periodically reviewing with mentors and mentees.
- Support mentors to connect mentees with services and activities that meet their needs, using knowledge of local services
- Ensure all participants are aware of and follow safeguarding measures in line with Unfold’s policies.
- Provide ongoing support to volunteers to help them flourish as mentors responding to any questions and concerns.
- Support in the delivery of virtual and in-person mentor training and monthly supervision sessions.
- Make sure our monitoring systems are being used as intended providing support to mentors and mentees as needed.
Administrative Support
- Manage cases with Beacon, our CRM system, making sure all the data is inputted correctly and is up-to-date.

FareShare Midlands is the region’s largest food redistribution charity. We take good-to-eat surplus food from the food industry and get it to our Members - frontline charities and community groups all over the Midlands. We turn an environmental problem into a social solution.
Last year we redistributed almost 5,794 tonnes of food from our warehouses in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham. It is sorted and stored by our dedicated teams of staff and volunteers, and then redistributed to around 800 Members including food pantries and cafes, homeless shelters and drop-in centers. These local organisations turn the food into food parcels, affordable shopping and delicious meals for people of all ages. As well as food, our Members provide vital support to families and the elderly, many of whom are facing challenging circumstances and living in poverty.
Last year our food reached more than 83,000 vulnerable people every week, providing 13 million meals. At the same time, we are growing our Employability Programmes to help people gain work experience, skills and jobs.
Hunger is a growing issue in the UK and while there is surplus food that is otherwise going to waste, we believe that this food should be used to feed people first.

We are searching for an exceptional Learning Disability (LD) User Involvement Project Manager to work in our well-regarded learning disability user involvement services.
The post holder will be responsible for managing the ‘Synergy’ Learning Disability User Involvement Project, supporting and supervising ‘experts by experience’ - learning disability representatives, volunteers and participants - and actively reaching out to the wider Camden learning disability community, reporting their views to Council, NHS and CCG representatives, helping to shape the services people from this community receive.

- Support the user-led ethos of the Synergy project, and provide line management, supervision, support, and annual appraisal of the Synergy Reps. This also includes managing volunteers, work experience/internship opportunities, and recruitment to the Synergy project; and processing reward & recognition, salary payments and queries.
- Manage and deliver consultations, training, groups, and workshops that align with local and national priorities, as well as the Advocacy Project’s strategic priorities, feeding this into decision-making forums. This will include involvement in the Camden Planning Together Board, including agenda setting, creating Easy read documents, and supporting the co-chair.
- Design and conduct consultations, through a variety of methods including interviews, surveys, focus groups, meetings, and forums; with individuals or groups; in person, online, and via telephone or video calls. Collate consultation results and write up evaluation reports.

They have a small but generous group of funders who have supported The Difference and as Trust & Foundations Manager you will work to grow the pipeline of trust funders and work closely with the Head of Fundraising to develop a fundraising strategy.
You will manage, develop, and grow The Difference’s portfolio of trusts and foundation donors, supporting to diversify their donor base and secure high value, long term support. This post will manage trust income in line with donor requirements, identifying and building relationships with new prospects and submitting high quality and engaging reports and proposals. You will feel real ownership over your work and need to be self-starting, flexible and hungry to grow with the charity.
The position will:
- Write compelling funding applications and grant reports to trusts and foundations at 5- and 6-figure level
- Grow multi-year restricted and unrestricted income from existing and new donors and support the growth of overall income from £1.25m to £1.9m annually in next 3 years

Our client Peter Bedford Housing Association (PBHA) is a housing association with charitable aims that create positive change in people’s lives. As well as homes and support, PBHA empowers people to learn, access work and discover their creative talents. Based in Hackney, Islington and Newham, PBHA work with people who are homeless, have mental ill health, learning difficulties and multiple needs. PBHA’s work enables people to move on and lead independent lives.
The role:
The postholder will work in partnership with the support service provider to deliver a quality housing management service to 11 tenants with learning disabilities. Post holders will work from a purpose new build service in Islington. The postholder will have access to PBHA local offices where appropriate. The post holder will be issued the IT equipment necessary to facilitate mobile working.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• To be responsible for working a caseload of tenants at this service.
• Identifying individual tenancy needs through assessment and an identified Housing Plan detailing risks, needs and move on plans.
• Provide a weekly housing management drop in.
• Ensure that tenants apply for benefits where eligible, and signpost tenants to information on how to maximise income.
• Record and monitor any breaches of tenancy agreement and work proactively and within procedures to resolve them.
• Liaise with support officers, the Income officer, and the finance department to provide effective prevention and management of rent issues.
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure void targets are met and properties are let within agreed timescale.
• Assist in the moving in/out process.
• Deal with complaints, nuisance and tenancy disputes as they arise. Work with tenants to promote self-help and mediation approaches to dispute resolution and address and escalate in line with procedure.
• Carry out regular building inspections, reporting repairs.
• Enforce the conditions of tenancy that enable PBHA to undertake urgent works such as electrical testing.
• Carry out H&S and fire checks and assessment, liaising closely with others to ensure that follow up actions are completed.
• Report safeguarding concerns as appropriate.
Customer Focused Services:
• Promote and support tenants to access participation and co-production opportunities.
• To take collective responsibility for any shortfalls identified through complaints.
• To act within the Professional standards for engaging with complaints as set by the Chartered Institute of Housing.
Team Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that proper records are kept, and information is passed to other team members as necessary.
• To ensure that PBHA’s computerised and manual systems are accurately updated specifically in relation to contact with tenants and stakeholders.
• To meet required standards and contract compliance of commissioning bodies where PBHA delivers a service.
All staff are expected to:
• Work co-operatively as part of a team and with other teams.
• Participate in staff training and development activities.
• Ensure the observation of all PBHA’s policies and practices, including those relating to equality and diversity, data, health and safety, financial control, standing orders, sustainability, recruitment, supervision, appraisals, sickness and disciplinary.
Access Information:
The post is based at the project, Rosehip House and Isledon Hub. Rosehip House has step-free access and is accessible to wheelchair users. Isledon Hub has step-only access. The role may involve some travel within Islington and working in tenants’ homes.
Main Conditions of Service:
This is a part-time position. The post is for 15 hours per week. Duties will occasionally be carried out over evenings and some public holidays. Overtime is not paid but in line with Agile working, hours can be averaged out over a 2-week period. PBHA implements Agile working practices which are to be negotiated with the line manager.
In common with all posts at PBHA, confirmation of appointment is subject to a probationary period (6 months).
