OVERVIEW AND JOB PURPOSE
Pump Aid is a dynamic, award winning and growing organisation, which is promoting a radically different approach to aid and development in the WASH sector by establishing Malawi’s first social impact business (Beyond Water) focused on delivering reliable access to clean water for rural communities. We challenge conventional development programmes by taking a business-based approach that ensures long term sustainability and impact for the communities we work with. Clean water results in better health, increases educational attainment and reduces inequality for women and girls across Malawi.
To support our mission we are recruiting a Communications and Fundraising Officer to help deliver on our ambitious growth plans to reach 2 million people by 2030. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can plan and create compelling communications to increase awareness of our work and engage new and existing supporters. Furthermore, you will lead on key areas of our fundraising strategy including annual fundraising campaigns, individual giving and small trusts and foundations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- You will lead on defined elements of Pump Aid’s fundraising strategy: scoping, applications, reporting and management (to largely small to medium sized trusts and foundations, community funders and individuals.)
- You will develop and manage a schedule of compelling communications across a number of channels including social media, web and print that will grow engagement with Beyond Water’s mission.
- You will support the Head of Development to pitch to social impact and philanthropic investors by finding creative ways to differentiate ourselves from traditional approaches to international development.
- You will take responsibility for managing and administrating fundraising income, using Salesforce CRM to keep up to date records of donations, keeping donors updated through regular reports and leveraging annual campaigns including the Big Give Christmas Campaign to maximise individual giving donations.
- Maximise the value and duration of donor support through excellent stewardship and relationship management.
- While office hours are notionally 9:00am to 5:30pm, the demands of a business focussed on Africa, with donors in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia mean a degree of flexibility is required.
Candidate Profile
1. Strong experience in planning and executing communications plans across a variety of mediums (social media, website, blog posts, impact reports) to grow awareness and engagement with the work of our social enterprise
2. Demonstrable success in fundraising within the charity sector; scoping, prospecting, proposal writing and reporting.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to present to a variety of audiences
4. Experienced in home working and able to self-motivate and develop and execute personal work and action plans with limited face to face supervision
5. Demonstrable ability to prioritise and manage conflicting outcomes and objectives and ensure the right job is completed at the right time
6. Works well in a small, dynamic team
7. High level of computer literacy – Canva, Microsoft Office, Salesforce or similar CRM software
8. Well organised and can prioritise work to meet deadlines
9. Experience working in international development is preferable.

Global Fund for Children is looking for a Development Officer to join our global Strategic Partnerships Team in an exciting new UK-based role. Your main responsibility will be to help steward our active relationships with donors and supporters around the world, manage delivery of key grant outputs, and build relationships with philanthropic funders and foundations.
This role will require engagement with our global staff team, alongside senior leadership and key stakeholders, and our expansive network of community partners around the world. What will you be doing?
• Manage the global calendar of donor deliverables for the Development team
• Consistently create and deliver compelling reports and other donor deliverables, according to our grant agreements, including collecting data, writing content, reviewing financial information, and ensuring compliance details.
• Work collaboratively across the Development team, engaging with key stakeholders, to deliver on strategic goals and KPIs.
• Liaise with Program and Finance colleagues to share grant requirements and reporting expectations, build reports and deliver high -quality stewardship items.
• Work alongside the team to keep an accurate record of donor relationships in Salesforce, including stakeholder information, notes from meetings, reporting and submission deadlines, and correspondence with donor staff
• Build and develop new relationships with prospective foundation donors and foundation fundraising strategy in collaboration with Senior Manager and Vice President for Strategic Partnerships
• Represent the organisation, both internally and externally where opportunities arise, including donor visits, public events, and partner convenings
• Keep abreast and keep the wider team updated of best practices and trends in the philanthropy sector, scoping out strategic opportunities to help us engage new prospective donors
• Contribute to the development of a strong values-based team culture across different countries, areas and streams of work
What are your experience and skills?

Salary – UK-based salary range for this role will be £40,000 - £45,000, depending on experience
Weekly hours – 35 hours per week.

General Statement of Duties:
To significantly increase the hospital’s voluntary income (primarily unrestricted) through the development and management of mid-value fundraising appeals, stewarding mid-level donors, regular donors, and fundraising committees with some event support.
The success of this role will be dependent on developing excellent relationships with our fundraising committees and regular donors. This role will work in conjunction with a small, dedicated team in London to provide fundraising, communications, and events support to two dedicated community fundraising groups.
Key Criteria for success:
· Develop excellent working relationships with Hospital’s fundraising committees, and in-aid of supporters.
· Provide finance, event, admin, and communications support to our committees.
· Represent SJEHG externally at community events, St John activities, and committee organised events.
· Work under the supervision of the Executive Head of UK Office on developing and implementing detailed planning and milestones for the key objectives of the fundraising plan relating to mid-value appeals.
Main responsibilities:
· Manage the key relationships with the Guild fundraising committee and the SOA fundraising committee including communication, administration, and event support. One day per week will be set aside by the post holder to conduct and manage Guild responsibilities and tasks.
· Manage the key relationship with the Knights Templar sub-groups, and the County Priory Groups across the UK.
· Represent SJEHG externally at community events and in aid of fundraising activities.
· Establish and manage excellent client care for all relevant donors. Ensure that timely, effective, appropriate acknowledgement and recognition of gifts are provided to the donors.
· To be responsible for ensuring electronic records are up-to-date and accurate.
· To devise, implement and manage an effective regular giving strategy, under the supervision of the Executive Head of UK Office, with the aim of growing regular giving income, and undertake monitoring and evaluation.
· To steward the mid-level donors (£500 to £4999), ensuring the highest possible levels of donor care.
· To work in partnership with colleagues to identify individual donors that could be cultivated and moved to the major gift team.
· Assist colleagues with the content for the Jerusalem Scene newsletter
· To work under the supervision of the Executive Head of UK Office to develop appropriate income targets and expenditure budgets relating to committees, individual donors, and appeals.
· Manage Shopify store online and Merchandise management. Fulfilling orders and using the opportunity to steward donors.
· Thanking and stewarding donors within the remit (under £10,000).
· Work with the Jerusalem team as appropriate.
General Responsibilities:
1. All staff are expected to report for work on time and fulfil their hours of duty, from time to time some flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the job and this may be outside regular hours of work.
2. Staff of the Hospital Group who do not have a uniform are expected to wear appropriate business dress. Jeans are not considered appropriate attire.

The Role
The Fundraising Officer – Partnerships is an important new role within the Fundraising Team, acting as the face of the Charity and first point of contact for potential corporate supporters and other donors.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
