Home-Start Essex is seeking a professional Volunteer Development Officer to recruit, train, manage and support our fantastic team of volunteers. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated and well organised individual, able to motivate, develop and support a large team of volunteers and deliver programmes of training and support. Knowledge of office systems, excellent communication skills and experience of training and working with volunteers are essential.
Experience of delivering training is desirable.

What will you be doing?
We are looking to recruit a committed individual to support the delivery and development of our criminal justice practice work, with a focus on women’s justice. This is an exciting opportunity where the successful applicant will be actively contributing to the design and delivery of our expanding women in justice area of focus within the Centre.
The role will primarily support our work to expand and enhance community justice for women. This means working in partnership with statutory partners such as police, probation, the judiciary and court staff, as well as 3rd sector organisations including women’s centres to support evidence-led practice.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting our women’s problem-solving court network. This will involve (i) identifying and convening practitioners and others who are interested in women’s problem-solving approaches; (ii) facilitating and delivering training and practice sharing workshops; and (iii) developing briefings and toolkits that support the spread of good practice.
Problem-solving courts are specialist courts that focus on addressing the underlying issues and problems that drive offending behaviour. They specialise in a specific set of issues or around a specific target group, such as women with multiple unmet needs. They operate with multi-agency teams to provide tailored interventions and supervision, combining this with judicial monitoring, where individuals regularly appear before the same judge to review their progress.
The Practice Officer will also support us to expand our reach in Out Of Court Resolutions (OOCRs) and pre-court diversion, working directly with police and other agencies to develop or improve their gender-responsive diversion schemes.

About the role
Using your legal expertise, you will play a key role in tackling housing in justice and unfair housing practices. You will be working under our Legal Aid contract, delivering legal advice and representing tenants at court where needed. Delivering systemic change through legal challenge to prevent homeless will also be a considerable part of the role. You will also work with the team in the Hub to help make sure people in the community are aware of their housing rights and how to enforce them, as well as providing support to Trainee Solicitors and Legal Advisers, ensuring good practice and compliance.
About You
Qualified as a Solicitor with at least three years post qualifying experience, you will have a strong knowledge of housing law and substantial experience of managing a wide range of housing cases. You have strong skills in court advocacy, litigation, report writing, file reviews and are able to meet financial targets. You will be able to meet the 2018 SQM supervisor standard in housing and be able to demonstrate experience of working under a legal aid contract.

About The Team
Our Legal Service provides specialist legal knowledge across Shelter through four teams covering Community Legal advice, Strategic Litigation, the National Legal Team and Legal Support Team. You will be part of our Community Legal Team, who are based across our 11 hub locations and work alongside hub colleagues every day to fight housing injustice and deliver systemic change relating to housing practice in our local communities.
Shelter Sheffield has a housing legal contract as well as a contract to deliver the County Court Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service at Sheffield and Doncaster. You will be based in the Sheffield community hub which has the overall aim of preventing homelessness and improving homelessness services for the people of South Yorkshire.
The advice and support team in Sheffield has been established for over 20 years, taking a holistic approach and focuses on emergency homelessness, support for children, families and people experiencing domestic abuse, as well as those with multiple and complex needs.

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry, to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse.
Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, providing trauma-informed, holistic support, to women who are/have been involved in selling sex. Whilst the service has been established for over 10 years, we are entering into a period of change, and are seeking an experienced manager, to lead the team through this transition.
Working as part of a team in our East London office, you will be responsible for providing oversight and support for the day-to-day operations of the team, who provide regular telephone support to a caseload of women.
These calls will be often the first point of support for women involved in the sex industry, offering a listening ear for them to process some of their feelings and experiences and providing emotional support; as well as providing more practical assistance to overcome the barriers they face in accessing support. About the Role:
This role is based in Bedfordshire with consideration given to hybrid working. As an Non DA Related Independent Stalking Advocate you will be:

We are looking for a Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join the team to work on an exciting new three-year project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Officer is to work closely with the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Head of Advocacy and Communications to develop viable, evidence-based policy solutions and deliver influencing plans to engage stakeholders from across parliament, the civil service, industry and charities to address economic abuse. Your focus will be on developing policy and influencing government on coerced debt – one of the most insidious yet devastating forms of economic abuse – to drive forward public and private sector responses. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our frontline partner Money Advice Plus and victim-survivors to ensure our policy and influencing work is grounded in women’s lived experiences of economic abuse.
You would be joining us at a significant moment as we launch our ambitious new three-year strategy. As part of this, we will build on our influencing work by ensuring victim-survivors’ voices are heard by the new Government to deliver lasting change.
About you
You will have experience in policy development, including undertaking research and analysing evidence to form credible evidence-based solutions and producing policy outputs like reports, consultation responses or briefings.
You will have strong public affairs skills, including excellent knowledge of parliamentary processes, sound political judgement, and proven ability to build support among a variety of stakeholders.
Your communication skills will be outstanding, with the ability to land complex messages clearly, concisely, and persuasively for different audiences both verbally and in writing.

You will be responsible for a team of Caseworkers supporting young people who have witnessed Domestic Abuse from the age of 5 - 18 years. Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.
This role consists of three weekly shifts from 22:00 to 08:00, with double cover for each shift.

- Provide psychotherapy sessions on outreach to female clients
- Flexible approach to meeting vulnerable female clients
- Deliver specialised outreach psychotherapy to female clients in the five boroughs we operate - Hackney, Tower Hamlets, City of London, Newham and Redbridge. A day per borough.
- Work collaboratively with Street Outreach Response Teams and other specialist agencies
