About the role
The Director of Operations leads all our member-facing services and operations to ensure that these services run effectively. The post holder is responsible for overseeing business planning and managing income streams, ensuring financial sustainability. They will maintain all relationships with local authorities, Integrated Care Boards, and private funders, ensuring the quality of services and adherence to best practices, regulations, and legislation.

- Provide strategic leadership to the service leads for all our member-facing services, and the administration and premises team to ensure the efficient delivery, quality, and consistency of services, guided by the principles of co-production.
- Oversee the development of plans and strategies for each team and instil a sense of collaboration, common goals, and working together across the departments to ensure the sustainability of our services.
- Oversee all budgets within the departments.
- Build good relationships with stakeholders in the boroughs we serve to develop opportunities for growth and development of our services.
- Lead on commissioning/tender/framework contracting arrangements with the local authorities we serve.
- Lead on safeguarding and health and safety to ensure we are compliant in all areas.
- Work with staff to ensure our members’ voices are at the centre of everything we do.
- Work with the managers and the Finance team to ensure unit costs are correct and work to ensure full costs of the service are recovered from customers.
- Support the teams and work with the Director of Development and Fundraising to explore new opportunities to develop our business to generate income.

The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director of Locality Impact our Locality Impact Directorate is responsible for the effective delivery of high quality commissioned and non-commissioned support to stroke survivors and carers. We provide a range of support for people from the early days after stroke throughout their recovery and into the longer term, working closely with our network of volunteers, Stroke Association support groups, and independent groups as part of the Stroke Group Network.
You’ll lead a motivated and engaged team of staff and volunteers to:
· Champion and support improvements to NHS stroke services, building effective relationships with key stakeholders and influencing local stroke policy and practice
· Increase the reach and impact of locality delivered services to ensure all new stroke survivors in the East of England receive the support they need to rebuild their lives after stroke
· Engage with the wider stroke community to put stroke on the map and ensure stroke survivors have the support they need, with a focus on addressing health inequalities
About You
You will have:
· Senior-level experience in advocacy/influencing; service delivery or community engagement and development.
· Senior level experience influencing local or national policy change, ideally in health and social care.
· Substantial experience of holding senior-level relationships with partner organisations, ideally in health and social care / the NHS and a strong understanding of systems leadership.
· Substantial experience of leading high performing teams and large distributed teams (paid staff and volunteers) and an inspiring and motivational approach to leadership.
The East of England comprises of the areas within the Integrated Care Boards of: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Norfolk and Waveney, Suffolk and North East Essex, Mid and South Essex, Hertfordshire and West Essex, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Primary function of the role
The primary function of the Finance & Operations Director is to manage the operational, financial and legal aspects of The Big House. Abortion Support Network is a largely volunteer-run charity that helps people living in European countries with bad abortion laws and provision access safe abortions in clinics abroad. ASN provides practical information, support, funding, travel and accommodation.
We are looking to recruit a new Managing Director to lead the team. ASN began as a group of activists and a mobile phone, and spent its early years running on passion. While remaining true to it’s radical roots, ASN are navigating the realities of building a sustainable organisation which offers the best possible experience for our clients, staff, volunteers and supporters. To do this, we need a strategic thinker who has experience leading a team and works pragmatically to get things done.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will have complete oversight of ASN, from service delivery to IT system procurement. We don’t expect anyone to be an expert on every part of ASN’s work, but we’re looking for someone with robust relevant experience who is willing to learn from our incredible team.

The European Network on Statelessness (ENS) is a civil society alliance of over 180 members in 41 countries, committed to breaking the cycle of statelessness in Europe and realising everyone’s right to a nationality. We are dedicated to raising awareness about statelessness, supporting legal and policy development, and building civil society’s capacity to act. At the heart of our work lies the understanding that stateless people and their communities should be leaders of change.
The Head of Operations and Development will work as part of the Senior Management Team, which includes the Director and the Head of Policy & Advocacy, to ensure ENS's continued success and growth. The role demands a high level of aptitude, leadership, flexibility, initiative, and commitment.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and developing ENS's strategic and operational planning, monitoring implementation, financial management, fundraising, and organisational development. They will contribute to the management and sustainable growth of ENS by ensuring that efficient systems and procedures are in place. They will oversee financial management, working closely with the Finance Manager, and will manage our HR function, helping to foster a positive organisational culture aligned with our values.
Collaborating with the Director and Head of Policy & Advocacy, the successful candidate will also work to diversify income streams and build strategic partnerships to support our growth and ensure that we fulfil our strategic objectives. They will implement robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes to measure and enhance our impact. The role involves coordinating pan-regional projects and events that engage our members across Europe.
The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in a senior operations role, preferably within the non-profit sector. They will have a proven track record in financial management, fundraising/development and operational excellence. Strong leadership skills, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to human rights are essential for success in this role. Given the wide-ranging nature of the role, we are open to candidates who have relatively less experience in a certain area provided they can deliver in the role and clearly demonstrate their aptitude to develop any skills as necessary.
The candidate will be contributing positively to our dynamic organisational ethos and cross-team working where all ideas are valued, and innovation is encouraged. They will be able to fit well into a fast-paced and demanding environment with an international focus.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will help lead and motivate the organisation through transformational change to more effectively and sustainably deliver our mission – to help those affected by addiction to heal, transform, and thrive.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills are essential. As a Christian charity, we want to bring our faith to the work we do and the men we work with, so you will be someone with a deep-rooted Christian faith, able to lead and inspire others in their own faith journeys, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all key decisions (Schedule 9, Part 1:3(a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies).
