At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for an Interim Deputy Director of External Affairs to join our team on a 9 month FTC.

While this role covers all our External Affairs functions, you'll be particularly expected to have knowledge and expertise in providing leadership in policy-influencing and campaigns. You'll provide leadership of AaA's External Affairs strategy to ensure the needs of autistic children and their families are high on the political and media agenda.

You'll have an externally-facing role in policy influencing, representing AaA in coalitions with relevant government departments among parliamentarians, as well as increasing AaA's profile through an effective communications strategy.

• Substantial experience, knowledge and understanding of the policy landscape, including political and legislative processes, and local government structures and processes
• Extensive experience of developing and delivering strategic, integrated communications programmes
• Demonstrable leadership of successful policy-influencing activity, including stakeholder engagement and above/below the line influencing strategies
• Proven experience in strategy development

Whether we are communicating through images, video or text, we always try to be straightforward, honest, and to show respect for the people with whom we are communicating. 

Clear communication is particularly important for us because our mission is to level the playing field when it comes to access to opportunities, and a big part of this effort is fair and straightforward access to information. It’s also important for us to be fun, while not talking down to young people. 

Over the last few years, we have created hundreds of videos aimed at students and teachers. 

We now have an exciting slate of new video projects that we want to produce. We want to use video:

• To develop some of the most popular parts of the Unifrog platform, currently used by hundreds of thousands of young people every week to explore different careers, different subjects at university, and topics that matter to them like Climate Change and Wellbeing.

• To help us create brand new tools within the platform, expanding what Unifrog offers to young people, and how we interact with external partners like employers and universities.

We also want to improve the quality of the videos we create, making them slicker and more useful to our users.

Working together 

You’ll join a Video team of five colleagues, and you’ll be line managed by the Head of Video. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across various departments, including the Marketing team, the Employer and HE teams and the Written content team.

Within the Video Team, we foster a collaborative environment where brainstorming sessions are common, feedback is exchanged among team members, and we actively seek input from educators and students at our partner schools. We value and promote innovative ideas, regardless of their origin.

The role 

We are looking for a skilled and creative Producer/Director who will shoot and edit 2-3 minute videos aimed at young people, which will be hosted on the Unifrog platform.

You will collaborate with both internal and external contributors to organise film shoots. Our in-person productions utilise high-quality professional equipment, where you will work independently as the primary shooter, directing video stars, setting up equipment, conducting interviews and filming creative B-roll.
 

Our partners are located across the UK, so this role requires frequent travel for on-location filming.

In the last year we’ve made videos such as:

• Careers guides in partnership with employers such as the BBC, Royal Ballet and Opera and The Royal Navy.

• University guides in partnership with several Universities in the UK and abroad. 

• Explainer videos launching new tools on our platforms.

• Event videos for our Employer Forum event and partner events such as the Global Offshore Wind event.

• A case study highlighting the impact of work experience opportunities from our employer partners on schools from disadvantaged backgrounds. 

You’ll create videos like these, and you’ll also help us with our ambitious plans for creating  completely new types of videos which will allow us to develop new parts of the Unifrog platform.

The role and your key responsibilities

• Working with external partners: You’ll work with other people on the Unifrog team to organise shoots with external contributors, on location. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, and persistence so that you can make things happen. Strong adaptability skills are also required to make real-time improvements to existing scripts, if needed.

• Directing shoots: Working primarily solo on shoots, you must be confident in directing on-location productions, managing video talent, and handling all other aspects of the shoot independently. You will also need strong storytelling and interviewing skills to bring our content to life.

• Technical skills: You need to be able to operate cameras such as the A7S, to be competent with lights and sound, and to be proficient at using the Adobe suite, in particular Premiere Pro for any necessary edits.

• Juggling projects and meeting deadlines: We always have lots of productions happening simultaneously, and we have very high standards for the end-product. You need to be organised to meet tight deadlines and determined to get things done on time, promptly communicating any challenges that may arise.

• Editing Skills: You will also be responsible for editing videos as needed to help with the workload demands from the post-production team. This includes assembling footage to craft a compelling story, working with graphics templates, cutting to refine pacing and length, audio editing, and applying basic colour correction. Strong editing skills are essential to transform footage into engaging content while meeting tight deadlines.

GARAS provides support, advocacy, and integration services for refugees and asylum seekers in Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire. We are a team of 28, both full time and part time staff working across and/or supporting 3 teams: the Advice Team, the Ukrainian Team and the Resettlement Team. There is also a Housing Officer, an Employment Officer, and a team of Therapists. 

Job Purpose

The Director leads GARAS in its mission to support refugees and asylum seekers, with a strong commitment to their rights and well-being.

The successful candidate will be an innovative and strategic thinker, who can work with key stakeholders across Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire to develop and deliver impactful services which navigate complex challenges. The Director is responsible for the strategic direction, financial sustainability, and overall management of the organisation, ensuring GARAS operates in accordance with its values and goals. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Development

• Provide visionary leadership to advance GARAS’s mission and strategic priorities.
• Develop, implement, and review organisational strategy in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.

• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, partner organisations, donors, and community stakeholders.

• Oversee operational policies, processes and practices to ensure the delivery of highquality, accessible services.

• Monitor and report on organisational performance to the Board of Trustees, including financial performance, service delivery, and programme outcomes.

Service Delivery and Programme Development

Advocacy and Public Relations

• Act as a spokesperson for GARAS, representing the organisation’s mission and values to the public, media, and other stakeholders.
• Develop advocacy strategies to promote awareness of refugee and asylum seeker issues within the community and among policymakers.
• Engage with media, attend public events, and foster partnerships to raise the profile of GARAS.

Team Leadership and Development

• Provide inspirational leadership, mentoring, and support to our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture and promoting continuous professional development and well-being.
• Provide direct line management to senior staff including development support, coaching, performance management and access to training, and to support senior staff and volunteers to do the same to the teams they manage.
• Ensure, through the senior staff, that all teams have robust work plans and key performance indicators in place which contribute to the achievement of GARAS’ long-term strategy and annual plans.
• Run regular all-team meetings to ensure good working practice is shared across the teams
• Work with the Trustee Board to recruit staff as required for the running of the organisation using fair and equitable systems.
• Work with the Office Manager to ensure effective oversight and resolution of any HR issues.

Sobell House Hospice Charity is looking for a collaborative and detail-oriented Director of Finance to join our Senior Management Team. With our retail and fundraising teams generating around £4m income annually, this is a growing and dynamic charity.

As Director of Finance, you will manage our finance function and lead our finance team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial management and compliance of the charity and its subsidiaries. The Director of Finance is also responsible for budgeting and reporting on the financial performance to the Trustees and particularly their Finance Committee, as well as communicating financial information and improving financial understanding at all levels of the organisation.

Rethink Mental Illness are hiring a Regional Associate Director to lead our teams and services in the South-East region.

As a Regional Associate Director - South-East, you will: Lead a regional operational team, within our Services Division, who are responsible for delivering safe and high-quality care and support services across the region, which are aligned with our quality and safety standards and meet contractual requirements.  This means that services in your region are delivered in line with/exceed budget, all internal and external KPIs, and quality and regulatory standards. 

The Services Division lead the delivery and growth of our services and strategic partnerships and alliances.  The division is comprised of our four regional teams (north, central, south west and south east) and a separate strategic partnerships and alliances team. Essential skills and experience:

• Experience as a Senior Manager delivering and leading complex social care/NHS service contracts. 
• Experience delivering services which meet internal and external performance indicators and quality standards, including regulatory standards, and ensuring compliance with safety, risk management and safeguarding practices.

CBRL, the UK’s social sciences and humanities research hub in the region, seeks to appoint a new director. With centres in Amman, Jerusalem and London, CBRL fosters, produces and disseminates original, rigorous and independent research and invests in promising emerging scholars. Our overarching mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of the peoples and cultures of the Levant through scholarship in the humanities and social sciences.

The successful applicant will be a leading scholar with a background in the humanities, social or environmental sciences. They will have an outstanding research profile and demonstrable experience of academic leadership and strong general management ability. They will have a clear vision for building on CBRL’s existing strengths as a research centre and regional hub for scholars of the Levant.

Appointment Term: Initial period of 3 years.

Based: UK or Amman

Status: The post may be on secondment from a UK university or other institution, or otherwise the Director may be employed directly by CBRL. The Director must be able to spend time in the Levant and/or be able to travel freely around the region as well as to/from UK. 

Time commitment: Full time. 20% of salaried time funded by the CBRL will be allowed for development and delivery of personal research 

Responsibilities

Strategy and Performance

Working with CBRL trustees, and in dialogue with the British Academy and other partners:

• Lead a review of CBRL’s strategy.

• Ensure alignment with regional dynamics and evolving geo-political landscapes.

• Put in place a sustainable model for CBRL’s activities, setting ambitions for the next 3 – 5 years.

• Develop and promote high quality, visible UK research projects and research partnerships in and with the region.

• Enhance and increase use of CBRL facilities on the ground

Partnerships

• Cultivate productive relationships with the British Academy, BIRIS and other key stakeholders.

• Expand networks across relevant UK and regional entities to bolster CBRL’s strategic and funding objectives.

Research

• The Director will be expected to develop a programme of highly quality personal research for which time will be allowed within the role, as agreed with CBRL.

• Support and oversee delivery of a high-quality programme of research activity in the region, including research partnerships, grants, projects and events.

Delivery

• Develop the accessibility and sustainability of CBRL archives.

• Ensure high standards of project management and administrative efficiency.

• Manage the CBRL staff team to deliver on key priorities, creating a culture of ambition, collaboration and shared values.

This is a new role within the organisation, providing leadership to maintain the operations, finances, and team at the charity, alongside exploring exciting new directions in relation to partnerships and commercial opportunities.

This is a one year cover, with potential to extend.

The Managing Director is a crucial role within the organisation, and will be responsible to the Trustees for the overall leadership, management and strategic development of Fat Macy’s Foundation (including instigating projects and taking opportunities to increase income).

As the external face of the organisation, they will be a strong communicator, raising the profile of the organisation and networking effectively.

Responsible for Fat Macy’s income generation, they will be scanning the horizon for new business opportunities and seizing relevant opportunities to form new partnerships. Equally important will be internal management: developing an effective and efficient organisation.

Structure

The Managing Director reports to and is accountable to the Trustees.

The Managing Director will work in partnership with the Fat Macy’s co-founder and CEO of Fat Macy’s Ltd and will oversee the general management of the charity. They will line manage the senior leadership team at Fat Macy’s Foundation: the Programme and Grants Manager, the Development and Operations Manager and the Training Lead (0.5 FTE).

Organisational leadership

• Provide ongoing leadership, and maintain the vision and strategic direction for Fat Macy’s to achieve its mission of supporting people from homelessness into supported, stable lives.

The SS Great Britian Trust is seeking a12-month, maternity cover, Development Manager to play a key role in maximising income for the SS Great Britain Trust through Corporate, Trust and individual fundraising. It's a really exciting time at the Trust as we are fundraising for a significant capital project, in addition to an award-winning education programme. We are seeking candidates with experience of developing income streams and delivering funding against targets.
