Director of Partnerships and Engagement

Position: Director of Partnerships and Engagement 

Location: Hybrid (two days a week in either the Bolton or London offices (based in White City) combined with home-working and travel across the Youth Zone Network as required) 

Salary: £75,000 - £80,000

About the Role 

A crucial role in the Network, you will need excellent communication skills to hold honest and respectful relationships with Youth Zone CEOs, senior leaders, Chairs and Trustees across the country. You will be as comfortable challenging Youth Zones as a ‘critical friend’ as you are being creative, bringing fresh ideas and encouraging innovation to support changing priorities across the Network. 

An experienced line manager, you will motivate and lead a multi-disciplinary team to be high performing in their support of Youth Zones, ensuring the focus is always to build capability in the Network. And, you will be supporting Youth Zones in achieving their own ambitions and targets for young people’s engagement, aligned with the collective aspirations in our Network DNA. This will include more effective ways to increase engagement with under-represented groups of young people, such as girls and young women. 

About You 

You will have experience of holding highly effective relationships with Boards, CEOs and senior leadership teams, with the ability to influence to achieve shared commitment and direction. 

You will also have experience of: 

• Managing multiple work streams/projects at one time and meet various, demanding deadlines 

• Effective, multi-disciplinary team management 

• Working strategically to maximise engagement and drive high performance 

• Safeguarding, volunteering, systems and/or impact measurement 

• Working at Board level and an understanding of excellent charity governance

The role:

This is a key role within the Executive Leadership team, with accountability for Finance, Procurement and IT at the Globe. The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead and manage the Finance and Corporate Services functions, ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and strategic planning. You will deliver the Partnerships and Philanthropy income targets as well as building a pipeline to achieve growth in key income streams for future years in line with the three-year strategy. In 2026, the organisation will hold its biannual Gala, and as Associate Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy, you and your team will be responsible for delivering this successfully.  

To be successful, you will have proven ability to achieve income targets and secure significant new income both personally and by empowering your team. You will bring expertise in major donor and/or corporate fundraising, and you will be a strategic and experienced team leader and manager. As the Director of Governance and Assurance, you will provide sector-leading company secretariat, governance, and assurance, ensuring the governance structure efficiently manages regulated activities and commercial group entities. The post-holder will also advise and support the Chief Executive, Chair, and SLT on all aspects of regulation, corporate governance, and effective business conduct for the organisation, ensuring the highest standards of probity and according to statutory and legislative requirements.

The Director of Governance and Assurance will oversee risk management and assurance functions, ensuring effective systems for internal controls and regulatory compliance, including internal audit management. They will provide administrative support for Board and Committee meetings, including agenda planning, minute taking, and record keeping.

This role is a key contact with the Regulator of Social Housing and other external government or regulatory organisations including CQC and Ofsted.

The Director of Governance and Assurance must embody a strategic and principled leadership style, ensuring the highest standards of governance, risk management and regulatory compliance. This individual will demonstrate exceptional integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes with confidence. Role Purpose

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the Royal Hospital Chelsea as Assistant Director of Audience Engagement on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.  A core focus of the role is to develop the Royal Hospital Chelsea into a national heritage destination while ensuring our community of veterans remains at the heart of everything we do.

During this fixed term contract, you will be responsible for delivering our public engagement strategy, and drive visits to, and engagement with, the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s heritage, supporting sustained and manageable footfall and increased income through public programmes, secondary spend and commercial visitor opportunities.  

You will oversee the successful delivery and operation of the new Visitor Centre within the recently restored Soane Stable Yard, ensuring the visitor experience both onsite and digital is inspiring, inclusive, and impactful. You will also lead our contribution to the Chelsea Heritage Quarter, including co-delivering the annual Chelsea History Festival, working alongside key partners: the National Army Museum and Chelsea Physic Garden.

This role carries senior leadership responsibility, including line management of a talented team covering public programmes, community engagement, visitor experience, and retail. You are also responsible for managing RHC’s relationship with a café concession. You will work closely with colleagues across the Royal Hospital Chelsea and externally to grow our public reach and income potential, positioning the Royal Hospital Chelsea prominently within London’s cultural landscape and the wider heritage sector.

About You

We are looking for an inspiring, strategic leader with a proven track record in the heritage, museums, or visitor attraction sector. You will bring significant experience in audience engagement or similar roles, including at least five in a senior leadership or management capacity. You will be adept at developing and delivering public-facing programmes, and leading a high-performing, multidisciplinary team.
