Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.
Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.
Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.
You will play an active role within the community, promoting the service through the delivery of presentations and representing the service at public engagement events. You will also work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

About you
To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.
You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.
There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive and have access to your own car.

The Institute for Addressing Strangulation (IFAS) is a Home Office-funded organisation working to increase awareness of the risks of strangulation, develop a research evidence base, and improve responses to victims and survivors. About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a lively, dynamic and driven fundraising events team. Over the last decade, Breast Cancer Now has built up a strong events function, with community and events currently accounting for nearly a quarter of the charity’s overall voluntary income.

Job Purpose: Fundraising Officer
The Fundraising Officer position is responsible for proactively driving fundraising growth from new and existing supporters (predominantly with individuals and corporate partners) generating the income that will enable our ambitious organisational strategy. The position also plays a significant role in strengthening support through community engagement activities, including with schools, community associations and corporate groups.

You will be working at the heart of our community to bring our cause to life and build lasting donor relationships with old and new supporters.
Key responsibilities
● To identify and submit applications to potential grant funders who indicate that they offer support for foodbank and community activity.
● Proactively identify, engage and build good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. Alongside this you’ll deepen engagement and grow our relationships and partnerships with existing corporate donors.
● Work with colleagues across Barnsley Foodbank, to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning grant funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
● Design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular stewardship communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems. You will grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations. You’ll also explore and implement ways of promoting Barnsley Foodbank to successfully attract an ever-greater number of individual donors.
● You’ll proactively build new fundraising relationships with local community groups, associations and schools in and around Barnsley.
● Evolve, develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £150,000 per annum. You’ll establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
● Forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. As part of a network ‘learning set’, you’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.
● You will engage with the Communications and Development Officer to ensure that social media is used to engage with funding partners and also used to promote the financial needs of the project. You will ensure donors receive regular stewardship communications that bring the Barnsley’s work and impact to life so that donors keep engaged with our work.

Person specification
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
● Experience as a fundraiser and a proven track record of fundraising success with individuals, businesses and/or community fundraising.
● Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate existing and prospective supporters, provide excellent stewardship and craft compelling and winning funding proposals and appeals.
● Experience of setting, managing and reporting against fundraising priorities
● Strong IT skills
● A tenacious and enthusiastic approach and the ability to embrace, develop and shape a new role. You’ll be well organised, proactive, and a self-starter who is able to self-motivate to plan, prioritise and manage your workload.
Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience
● Knowledge of the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice
● Experience of costing projects for grant applications
● Experience of monitoring and evaluating outcomes of grant and bid applications
The person appointed will be based at the Wombwell hub. They will need to be able to travel independently, however it will not be necessary for them to be a car owner or driver. If they are a car driver, they must have no more than 6 penalty points on their licence.

Key Responsibilities
To work closely with the Evidence & Advocacy Manager (EAM) to develop and implement a series of impactful evidence and research projects that support our advocacy messaging, as well as internal and external learning for inclusive programmes and advisory work. These projects will build on established workstreams alongside developing new ones to maintain and extend CBM UK’s evidence base.
Disability Evidence, Policy Research and Learning
With EAM support the ongoing CBM UK Research and Evidence workstream, through:
1. Translating evidence from our programming countries and projects to produce and contribute to a range of resources to influence FCDO and other stakeholders. Tasks to include managing and maintaining established outputs, such as the CBM UK Project Evidence Briefs and Disability Voices paper series, generating new thematic papers, as well as policy and position papers to enhance effective advocacy submissions, briefing notes, blogs and other messaging on key disability rights issues.
2. Working collaboratively within CBM UK and across CBM Global to help develop and to deliver new policy research, drawing on mixed methods and data sources including national and international databases, using qualitative approaches including participatory or citizen generated data, and new empirical work.
3. Supporting Programme staff to improve impact and learning practice in CBM UK funded projects, provide technical support for the implementation of programme related research and data collection, including MEAL.
4. Providing technical research support into the development of proposals for new grant funded projects, and, where successful, support the management of subsequent research projects.
5. Keeping abreast of new research and publications on key themes and priority concerns within the CBM UK Advocacy and Influencing Strategy, taking into consideration sector trends and developments, and ensure this is disseminated to relevant staff within the CBM UK Team.
6. Keeping watch on UK policy environment and conducting research and analysis to support CBM UK advocacy messaging on disability and human rights.
Dissemination and Communications
1. Maintaining and developing internal knowledge management systems for research and information on disability inclusion and rights, and related areas, to be used by Advocacy, Programmes and Fundraising & Communications teams.
2. Ensuring communication plans are developed with CBM UK and Global Federation colleagues for CBM UK evidence outputs.
3. Maintaining the Advocacy and Influencing pages of the CBM UK website ensuring rights-based communication and focus to support CBM UK and Global campaigns.
4. Liaison with Fundraising & Communications colleagues to amplify media stories, case studies and compelling evidence from country programming for advocacy purposes.
5. Participation in and building good relationships with UK-based disability and development networks, including relevant research networks and membership of the BOND Disability and Development Group.
6. Supporting the professional publication and printing of CBM UK outputs, for dissemination at advocacy engagements and public events.
Other
1. Work with other CBM UK teams to maximise cross fertilisation opportunities and integrated working.
2. Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of CBM. Play an active role across CBM, promoting positive working and innovation. Ensure that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and always reflected in communications.
