Purpose of the role
We are looking for a creative, organised, and disciplined person to take on a key role within our rapidly expanding organisation. As the Communications and Digital Officer, you will be central in the implementation of Black Thrive Global’s communications strategy. You will be supporting our Communications Manager in the delivery of all aspects of communications and marketing activity with both key stakeholders and the public.
You will help to support the creation of a compelling and consistent narrative about the work that Black Thrive Global does across all our communication channels. You will be integral in helping to disseminate key messaging for core projects and work-streams working closely with our internal teams and external partners. Black Thrive Global’s communication approach aims to be both reactive and proactive, and you will be expected to be well informed about events and trends in the media and public arena.
Duties and responsibilities
- Produce compelling and engaging content for internal and external blog posts, newsletters, and digital content across our communication channels.
- Produce in-house design for publications and promotional materials and social media assets as required.
- Lead on delivery and scheduling of the Communications Calendar, this will include horizon scanning of the news agenda as well as regular yearly campaigns i.e., Disability Week, Refugee Month, International Day of the Girl, LGBTQIA+ etc.
- Deliver and implement our social media strategy across our various platforms.
- Lead on managing and developing social media channels to engage and grow our online audience.
- Maintain and update our website and digital content.
- Support the Communications Manager and internal teams with producing reactive media and digital outputs.
- Support with PR and media relations tasks, including monitoring coverage, building up journalist databases and drafting statements and releases.
- Support internal teams with event coordination and marketing campaigning.
- Collecting and analysing data and information of communications activity to assess our impact and opportunities for brand growth.
- Support the Communications Manager with the quarterly Directors’ Communications Report.
- Work with freelancers and volunteers as required.
- Spend up to 10% of time supporting corporate business such as strategy and administration.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
As a Social Welfare & Digital Support Adviser, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive advice, casework support, and digital support to the residents of Tower Hamlets. As a dedicated and empathetic Social Welfare Advice & Digital Support Adviser, your role will be essential in empowering individuals with complex and multiple needs, helping them navigate the intricacies of the welfare benefits system and access the financial support they deserve. Additionally, you will provide vital digital support to enable clients to manage their welfare claims online, enhancing their digital confidence and independence. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Holistic Client Assessment and Support - Conduct detailed, confidential interviews with clients, applying a holistic approach to assess their needs for advice and support, including digital needs.
- Comprehensive Needs Assessment - Assess various aspects such as financial situation, social welfare entitlements, debt, digital literacy, and other significant issues affecting clients and their families.

The role
We are looking for a new Editor and Content Manager to lead the production of the magazine, help specify and develop a new digital version to run alongside the printed magazine, and to support the wider communications team, especially with content creation and the website.
What you will be doing
You will work closely with members, staff and suppliers to commission, edit and polish articles for the magazine and ensure that every page is top-quality and that it goes out to members on time and on-budget. On any one day in this exciting and varied role, you could be interviewing members for stories and spotlights, writing engaging articles for the magazine or our website, creating new website pages or editing existing ones, or sourcing on-brand images and photos.

Role overview
This key role manages our flagship and award-winning project supporting refugees with IT Hardware. The project collects IT Hardware, refurbishes and repairs it through our network of technicians, matches it with a suitable recipient through our referral process and then distributes it to charities and individual refugees and asylum seekers at no cost to the recipient. The project is in its third year, in which it will grow to overseeing e-waste collection and tech re-sale.
This role has two central arms: project management and volunteer management.
Overall management of the project includes key decision-making on tech refurbishment and distribution, building and maintaining key partnerships, impact reporting, staff management, external representation, developing and recording institutional memory and supporting the project's strategic growth with support from the Director. The postholder will be responsible for working with their team to maintain the smooth running of the project and deliver the project outcomes. They will deputise for the Director where necessary.
Volunteer management predominantly looks like the recruitment, coordination, training and retention of technical volunteers, many of whom are asylum seeking graduates of our tech training course. The post holder will be the go-to person for the volunteers and provide technical and management support with the help of our Technical Lead.
