The Role

We now seek a Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Research Manager to deliver a step change in organisational capacity in the MELR space, develop our approaches to data collection, and coordinate planning and reporting processes. This will require an experienced, self starting practitioner, capable of developing a long term strategic vision as well as getting deeply involved in ensuring its realisation.

We have worked in Birmingham for five years and the need and urgency for our work is greater than ever, with the many live grassroots campaigns across Birmingham mobilising people to come together to save libraries, youth services and social housing. We know that a shared root cause of all of these crises is the city’s economic system. 

This role leads our work across Birmingham to help build our collective capacity to analyse, strategise and take action for economic system change in the city. It will coordinate our Programme team to deliver different initiatives that support a growing movement for economic justice across the city - particularly focused on building support and engagement amongst grassroots changemakers and communities experiencing economic injustice. It will manage projects and resources, conduct programme development and delivery, oversee outreach and partnerships, changemaker recruitment and contribute to fundraising - ultimately play a key role in shaping our regional impact. This position is crucial in coordinating our work across Birmingham and driving meaningful collaboration with local and national stakeholders, in particular working collaboratively with Economic Justice Brum, a long term initiative working on local economic systems change.

Job Description

Birmingham Programme Development

• Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, lead the translation of People’s Economy’s strategy into a programme of work in Birmingham
• Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, identify the resources People’s Economy needs to deliver its strategy in Birmingham and contribute to fundraising for the organisation’s programme of work in Birmingham
• Working closely with Programme Director lead outreach and relationship building with community and civil society partners, including members of the Economic Justice Brum
• Working closely with the Head of Community, lead the development of People’s Economy’s programme of outreach and relationship building with changemakers in Birmingham including current grassroots campaigns such as Save Birmingham, Save Birmingham Youth Service (SBYS), Ladywood Unite, Save Druids Heath and the Birmingham Fair Housing Campaign.

Birmingham Programme Delivery

• Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the delivery of People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham and ensure it is well embedded, integrated and supportive in the local economic justice landscape
• Play a leading role in our collaborative work with Economic Justice Brum ensuring consistent coordination, support and relational working
• Lead our work on developing and delivering a creative communications plan for Economic Justice Brum, as People’s Economy is its appointed communications partner
• Lead on organising the logistics and resources required to effectively deliver People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham 
• Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the monitoring, evaluation and learning of People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham

To run the next rounds of our 2½-years old Grantmaking Training program, we are looking for a Philanthropic Programs Director to continue finding, training, and advising funders in setting up their grantmaking for maximum impact. In addition, you will provide strategic oversight and guidance to the funders in our five funding circles, collectively distributing $5-10 million annually.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Philanthropic Programs Director, you will lead and keep developing AIM's Impactful Grantmaking training program and oversee our five funding circles. Your primary responsibility will be outreach, program facilitation, and hands-on philanthropic advising for the twice-annual 9-week cohorts of funders giving over $1M annually.

This is a fairly senior position with high stakes, a lot of potential for development, and outstandingly high potential for impact, and thus best suited to an individual with at a minimum 3-5 years of experience and some deep prior expertise in the philanthropic sector.

You will work closely with the Philanthropic Programs Manager in a two-person program team. You will decide collaboratively at the start of your tenure how to divide and/or share responsibilities in the categories below, as well as how to take care of operations and ad hoc tasks and projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Facilitation (~40%)

• Deliver program content in an engaging and accessible manner

• Develop weekly lesson plans and discussion topics for a 9-week program Zoom calls

• Conduct thought-provoking and productive 1:1 coaching sessions with participants for 30 minutes weekly throughout the program.

• Prepare for and run the weekly group calls going through topics covered in our foundation handbook

Outreach and Public-Facing Work (~30%)

• Conduct regular calls with philanthropists, advisors, and other philanthropic professionals to maintain a strong presence in the sector

• Serve as the initial point of contact for new funders interested in or referred to the program, effectively communicating its value without being overly sales-oriented

• Scope and test the best ways to find new prospective participants who would benefit from our program and cause a large amount of impact

• Ensure each cohort has a minimum of 5 participants contributing an average of $1M+ each annually

• Maintain visibility of the program in philanthropic circles through activities such as article writing and regular engagement on philanthropy listservs

• Represent the AIM Grantmaking program at a minimum of two conferences annually and at local philanthropic events in your area

Community Engagement (~15%)

• Foster relationships with our community of 30+ alumni and extended network of funders

• Provide strategic oversight and guidance to funding circle co-chairs, serving as a valuable resource and goal-setter

• Organise regular alumni catch-up calls for the entire community

• Collaborate on planning the grantmaker meetup component of annual AIM network in-person gatherings

Grantmaking (~0-10%)

• For the right candidate, there could be an opportunity to be personally responsible for regranting a sizable amount of money via our five funding circles across some of their five cause areas (global health & development, meta charity, mental health, animal welfare, and AIM seed network)

Program Operations Support (~10%)

• Contribute to iterative improvement of program content, adapting based on feedback, evaluation, and tailoring for the upcoming cohort composition

• Collaborate on revising the program handbook to better serve future cohorts and benefit the broader philanthropic sector

• Ensure the Philanthropic Programs Manager receives adequate management, support, and oversight to maintain program momentum

• Becoming an expert in understanding the philanthropic landscapes in different cause areas, from central funding bodies, key stakeholders and actors, to core methodologies and strategic issues in the space and its related communities

• Becoming adept at small group and individual-focused (U)HNWI teaching, coaching, and advising, acquiring experience working with a wide range of individuals with different backgrounds, interests, approaches, and cause areas

Notices when a participant is less engaged and bring them into the conversation, while able to smoothly direct conversations towards topics that are the most productive for the group and is confident interrupting people when needed.

  • Ideal - someone with experience in teaching, facilitation, or educating, particularly in semi-formal settings

APPLICATION PROCESS

Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). We only invite candidates to the next stage if we think they have a good chance of passing it, and take care to choose tasks and interview questions that will also give you a good sense of the role and our culture.

Applicants will be asked to complete the following stages:

1. Submitting our general application form (30 minutes to 1 hour),

2. A general test task (2-3 hours) with the top 10 to 30 candidates,

3. An initial interview (15 minutes) with the top 10-20 candidates,

4. A test task simulating the work you would do in your role (2-3 hours) with the top 5-15 candidates,

5. A final, more in-depth interview (~60 minutes) with the final 2-5 candidates.

We will also conduct a reference check before making an offer. Each stage typically takes 1-2 weeks from the end of the application deadline, and we hope to make an offer within ~8 weeks of the application deadline. Tender works with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. We are now looking for a Communications Manager to drive this work and establish our position as an influential, informed and powerful voice for change.

You will work closely with the Development Director to develop and implement a cross-organisational communications strategy to maximise our reach and brand awareness amongst core audiences, leading in turn to increased funding and an impact on statutory and policy approaches to preventing VAWG. You will line manage our Senior Communications Coordinator and collaborate closely with the senior leadership team (SLT), who lead on our policy and influencing work. You will also support the Development team to better engage current and potential supporters and funders.

Bridging the gap between senior leadership and delivery, you will be a confident and strategic thinker, but remain excited by the challenge of getting stuck in. You will be comfortable supporting colleagues to deliver activity as well as working independently on your own projects. You will have the knowledge and experience to ensure that the right policies, frameworks and plans are in place for our small team to achieve ambitious plans.

The main purposes of the Communications Manager role are:

• Developing, leading and implementing Tender’s communications strategy, focusing on supporting our fundraising and building engagement with key audiences
• Accountability for Tender’s organisational profile, building profile and engagement through content creation with key strategic audiences, including the website, social media, and print and online marketing materials
• Accountability for the development and management of Tender’s own media channels, ensuring a consistent user experience and organisational voice

 Required knowledge and experience

• Knowledge of audience segmentation and personalisation and of optimising CRMs to improve supporter journeys

• Experience in leading or supporting the development of communications strategies and operational plans

• Demonstrable experience working in a communications or campaigning role

The Financial Solutions (FS) Director will be part of a specialist unit within Shell Foundation (SF) that builds working relationships with a range of private and public investors to mobilise capital into innovative solutions created/supported by SF.

The role will bring additional expertise and capacity, particularly in relation to carbon markets, to the existing Financial Solutions and wider SF team in order to support SF’s ongoing investments into vehicles that mobilise substantial capital toward solutions that benefit SF customer groups.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who have strong experience investing in businesses/funds in Africa and/or India that serve low-income customers, along with:
 

• Significant experience/expertise in venture capital/impact investing/management consulting, with a strong focus on climate finance.
• Specific expertise working in climate finance/carbon markets, with practical experience working with/and or structuring instruments, vehicles, bonds etc that are climate focused and/or have significant carbon component.
• Strong experience working on the structuring and underwriting of innovative financial funds and products, including blended finance vehicles, impact monetization, credit enhancement products
• A proven and demonstrated interest, supported by practical experience, of sustainable development/ social investment.

Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity providing cancer care specially designed for young people, is seeking an Associate Director of Fundraising to play a critical role within the charity as the strategic leader of a multi-million pound fundraising portfolio.

 

Teenage Cancer Trust fund specialist nurses, youth workers and hospital units within the NHS. They're here for anyone diagnosed with cancer aged 13-24, and their loved ones too, to ensure there's someone in their corner right from the start. 

The role will be responsible for providing strategic vision, inspiration and direction to the charity’s fundraising directorate and for developing and implementing fundraising strategies, approaches and initiatives that are grounded in a deep understanding of both the organisation and its target audiences’ needs.

The post-holder will be involved in high level and complex internal and external relationship management and influencing, as well as being responsible for identifying both risks and opportunities from the wider environment. We are an award-winning charity supporting children and young people in care, kinship care, those transitioning to independent living, and care leavers. We also provide support for foster and kinship carers.
In 2017, we featured on a BBC1 DIY SOS & Children in Need special, which resulted in our beautiful centre with three semi-independent living flats attached. Our bespoke and holistic Transition to Independent Living programme helps young people aged 16-19 gain essential independent living skills as they prepare to leave care.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

- Experience in operations management and/or strategic leadership, ideally within a health and social care, childcare, or education setting.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Highly numerate with a successful track record in managing budgets and delivering value for money.
- Excellent IT skills with the ability to learn and use new software and packages.

Desirable Criteria:

- Experience managing safeguarding and an understanding of Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
- Experience working with our beneficiary group, including children in mainstream care, secure residential settings, kinship care, Special Guardianship care, and foster carers.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and/or public speaking.
- Service development and management of commissioned services experience.

As Director of Finance and Operations, you will

· Provide clear financial and commercial strategy and direction;

Role purpose:

The role of the People Assistant will be to provide administrative support to the People Team. You will contribute to the efficient running of the department and assist in the delivery of a supportive, employee-oriented organisational culture that emphasises quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.

This is a busy generalist HR role and will give you a broad experience to many different elements of HR practice including recruitment, onboarding and induction, metrics and analytics, EDI, safeguarding, wellbeing, volunteers and learning and development within the humanitarian sector.

Who are we looking for? 

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is looking to start or develop their HR career. You will be a people person, committed to delivering excellent customer service who is able to work and communicate well with different individuals and teams, both internal and external to ShelterBox.

As the first point of contact for the HR Team the ability to manage different tasks and priorities simultaneously and have excellent attention to detail will be key.

This role will help generate and collate monthly and quarterly people metrics so excellent IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office and database reporting) are essential. As a member of the HR Team, you will be handling a wide range of data, including sensitive and personal information, as such you will work with discretion and adhere to confidentiality.

Achievement of, or study toward, your CIPD Level 3 is preferable but is not essential. Knowledge of basic employment law and HR practices would be advantageous for the role.

Main role and responsibilities

This role will primarily provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of the HR Team as well as delivering administrative tasks for the Learning & Development (L&D) Team and Volunteer Development Manager. This role will also support ongoing strategic work projects of the People Team. This role will also help support the diary management for the Director of People.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

· Administration of all recruitment campaigns including advertising, arranging interviews and candidate management.

· Administer all HR-related documentation in a timely manner. Documents will relate to starters, leavers, Maternity/Paternity, probation completions, etc.

· Management of the HR inbox and timely response to queries.

· Information management of the HRIS ensuring electronic records are accurately maintained and updated in accordance with GDPR legislation including personal details, absence management and employment records.

· Monthly employee file auditing, ensuring records are accurately maintained including return to work, probation, and appraisal completions.

· Support internal communications including organisational updates, wellbeing, and staff newsletters.

· Diary management support for the Director of People
