The role:

The person:

They will have had experience of working in a busy Finance department, with a broad understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation and financial reporting in addition to excellent database and IT skills. Accuracy will be absolutely essential to success in this role in addition to being able to relate sometimes quite complex information to a wide variety or audiences.

Main Purpose of the Role
The Head of Volunteering will manage, develop and grow StreetVet’s Volunteer programme. They will have overall responsibility to recruit, onboard, induct, train, support, communicate with, develop and recognise volunteers as well as ensure good governance and compliance. The Head of Volunteering will act as an ambassador for volunteering across all StreetVet locations and externally. The Head of Volunteering will monitor and evaluate the impact of StreetVet’s volunteering programme and will identify and assess opportunities to develop the programme further.

• Develop and implement the StreetVet Volunteering Strategy

The role will primarily focus on high value including grants, charitable trusts and corporates, generating funds and support for the RSPB against annual income targets and contributing to the organisation's' purpose of saving nature. This role is home based (within Wales preferably), with travel to meetings in a range of locations and some overnight stays required.
What's the role about?
As Fundraising Officer you will be part of a busy fundraising team within RSPB Cymru, proactively researching and pursuing funding opportunities and relationships that meet the need of Wales Delivery Plan and overall strategic objectives of the RSPB.
You will work to agreed income targets, maximising funding opportunities and playing your part in delivering the agreed fundraising plan, working with a range of departments on specific projects to meet funder and project timescales.
You will be responsible for managing the delivery of funding conditions to maximise revenue and maintain positive supporter relationships. You will compile financial claims and monitor and report progress, and action needed against targets and KPIs to stakeholders to ensure appropriate oversight of income streams.
You will play a critical role in updating and utilising contact databases and CRM systems to ensure accurate records are kept to facilitate effective contact management across the organisation.
You will provide excellent customer experience to all existing and potential funders, donors and supporters to ensure ongoing relationships, future donations and support, and safeguard the RSPB's reputation and brand.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Working knowledge and application of relevant Chartered Institute of Fundraising, Fundraising Regulator and Charities Act regulations and guidelines.
- Relevant understanding of fundraising, including supporter motivations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret complex information and present it with clarity.
- Persuasive negotiator with the ability to influence.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office.
- Able to work under own initiative and prioritise work in order to get the right things done, with the confidence to ask for support and direction where needed.
- Able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with external and internal stakeholders, delivering a high level of customer service to a variety of audiences.
- Good level of numeracy; ability to analyse data, identify trends and make recommendations for change.

- Manage a caseload of specific, residuary, and reversionary legacies across the UK.

As our fundraising compliance officer, you will play an essential role in ensuring our fundraising and marketing activities meet the highest standards in an ever-changing regulatory landscape, to mitigate potential risks for the charity and to maintain the trust of our supporters.
The varied role will work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues from across the charity. About you
The successful candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, interpersonal abilities and a keen eye for detail to ensure adherence to regulations and internal policies.
The ideal candidate will have some prior understanding of charity fundraising and the needs of working in an assurance role, but training can be provided. Prior knowledge some data protection legislation and fundraising regulations would also be beneficial, such as the data protection act, fundraising code of practice, CAP code, gambling commission code, and HMRC gift aid rules. You will also be self-motivated and have an eagerness to learn and develop in line with the ever-changing regulatory landscape and the charities needs and goals.
Ideal attributes of a candidate include an analytical mind, with the ability to review information, ask questions and make informed decisions to support the charity to meet its objectives, whilst also mitigating unnecessary risk.
