The Communications Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) informs, inspires and engages the public about dementia and the progress being made in research. This role sits within the Corporate Communications team, which forms one of several specialist teams in the wider Department.
The Corporate Communications Officer will be responsible for producing high-quality and compelling communications to raise the profile of the charity’s flagship fundraising initiatives.
The postholder will also support Alzheimer’s Research UK’s own corporate communications function, and with the development and delivery of other strategic communications initiatives.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Work with the Corporate Communications Manager to plan and implement communications projects and programmes, working through multiple channels including media, social media, web articles, video and staff newsletters.
· Prepare, write, issue, and promote press releases about the charity’s strategic and corporate activities, highlighting the charity's expertise, sharing insights from spokespeople and ambassadors, and emphasising our key messages.
· Identify opportunities to work with the media to sharetell Alzheimer’s Research UK's story, highlighting the charity's expertise, key messages, and insights from spokespeople and ambassadors. This includes proactively pitching media stories and issuing press releases.
· Establish and develop valuable and productive relationships with journalists; respond promptly to queries, including occasional out-of-hours queries.
· Monitor relevant media coverage; keep up to date with social, scientific and charitable sector issues which could benefit, or have relevance to, Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK).
· Develop effective relationships with teams across Alzheimer's Research UK’s Fundraising & Marketing (F&M) Directorate, in order to identify and deliver on communications needs.
· Proactively work with the Corporate Communications Manager, and relevant teams across F&M, to identify additional communications opportunities.
· Seek additional ways to tell ARUK’s corporate story, including our fundraising work, through the traditional media and social media, including ARUK’s news and views site.
· Liaise with ARUK spokespeople, the public, scientists, journalists, freelancers, ARUK colleagues, Trustees, Patrons, other charities and organisations, IT and other support agencies as appropriate.
· Attend and/or organise appropriate meetings and events – these will require some travel and occasional unsociable hours.
· Ensure activities comply with ARUK’s branding and style guide.
What we are looking for:
· Experience working in the PR (or similar) sector.
· Experience of working with the media.
· Experience of supporting or co-ordinating partnership working.
· Experience of delivering communications programmes through a variety of media (e.g. press, social media, email, events).
· Ability to communicate appropriately with people affected by dementia and to translate scientific work for lay people; knowledge of dementia and/or science is advantageous, but not a requirement.
· Excellent journalistic skills and news sense.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Confidence working with computers; knowledge of Microsoft office packages and databases, good keyboard skills.
· Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage a large number of tasks with internal and external stakeholders to multiple deadlines.
· A confident and friendly manner; would feel at ease representing the charity to a range of audiences.

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

The Head of Support Services will work with the Director of Support Services to create a positive, supportive culture of personal growth, underpinned by a holistic and empowering health and wellbeing approach.
Supported by the trustees, the CEO, staff and service users, the postholder will be a leader and will provide a constant stimulus for self-improvement in a learning, supportive and diverse environment. A candidate with a proven track record of delivery, they will provide high level and efficient management of Betknowmore UK support and community programmes, including all three primary services, GOALS, New Beginnings and Peer Aid, as well as bespoke projects which include the development of Hubs within key London Boroughs and creating digital activities.
The postholder will work to ensure impactful service provision and outcomes; recruit, train and supervise a team of staff/mentors/volunteers to deliver support and community activities; and oversee service integration and collaboration with the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN) partners and other key stakeholders.
A key aspect of the role will be to work closely with people presenting with gambling-harm issues and/or people impacted by someone else's gambling. The Head of Support Services will oversee sustainable recovery interventions which may include structured psycho-social 1:1 and group activities, counselling and therapy, peer and mentoring support, with services co-produced by clinicians and health professionals, and insight and knowledge from experts by experience.
The candidate should demonstrate previous experience of management and oversight of similar programmes of work, within mental health, addiction or community NHS or voluntary sectors.
Experience of gambling support and treatment and/or harm minimisation programmes is desirable, but not essential.
Working with other members of the Senior Management Team, they will input into the management of the charity, as well as supporting grant, contract and tender submissions, operational management, governance, performance and contract monitoring and outcome reporting. This will include financial planning and budgeting.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Development and Delivery
- Manage the strategic and operational performance of services to agreed standards and targets with the Director of Support Services and CEO.
- Provide management oversight to service teams and ensure the activities they are leading on are delivered to set quality and outcomes, that they are safe and operate in positive environments, and adequately supervised, monitored, audited and reviewed.
- Provide management oversight to the charity’s portfolio of programmes and projects, including those within the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN)
- Ensure strategic & performance coverage of all areas of service delivery outlined in the services’ SLAs.
- Review service delivery and implement necessary changes, to ensure high quality service, reflecting best practice and clear impact for all service users.
- Conduct regular supervision with staff and service users about service effectiveness and maximise client involvement in service design and development.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Produce a monthly service review, linked to the charity’s strategy and business plan.
- Manage monitoring and evaluation framework and oversee CMS/CRM systems.
- Liaise with external support networks, such as universities and research organisations, to aid data management requirements.
Line Management
- Ensure staff are recruited, supervised and developed in accordance with Betknowmore UK systems and processes, in particular annual planning and review and objective setting.
- Support the provision of staff training to the highest standard and in accordance with Betknowmore quality assurance standards
- Provide HR support and on-going staff line management.
- Liaise with Clinical Supervisor to ensure staff have adequate support and resources.
- Contribute to the development of services knowledge and practice, by keeping up to date with current research and practice and ensuring that the clinical and support approach of the teams reflects such current information as appropriate.
Partnerships Building and Collaboration
- Develop our operational and strategic relationship with external partners and stakeholders to maximise the success and impact of Betknowmore UK services.
- Co-ordinate Betknowmore UK contribution to service-related networks ensuring attendance at relevant operational and strategic meetings and provide feedback and sharing of information.
- Represent the organisation at events, webinars and other meetings to inform service development and promote best practice in service delivery.
Financial Management
- Oversee budgets and expenditure related to the services and help meet targets.
- Provide oversight to petty cash and day to day expenses.
- Assist with other fundraising associated with service development as agreed with Senior Management Team.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, clients and other beneficiaries is intact.
- Oversee Betknowmore UK premises and risk assess external sites, ensuring all working environments work correctly to policies and procedures.

The role will support Disabled people to sign up to the Priority Service Register, leading to longer term energy savings and ensuring sufficient support through winter. This role will also be be able to help people heat their homes and stay warm in winter, with access to hot food through the provision of fuel vouchers, winter essentials and appliances.
In addition, the Involvement Officer will also set up a peer advocacy service to facilitate Disabled people and people with long term health conditions to come together to discuss issues and support each other.
Introduction to the role
We know that the Cost-of-Living crisis has disproportionately affected Disabled people therefore we want to do everything we can to support our members during this difficult time.
This role will support Disabled residents in Surrey to apply for energy efficiency upgrades to their homes as well as set up and run a peer advocacy service for Disabled People and those living with long term health conditions.
Main responsibilities
1. To set up and deliver group advocacy – Hold a bi-weekly peer support virtual meeting.
2. Run 'Ask a peer' sessions on our community forum each
Month (for example completing PIP applications etc)
3. Fuel Vouchers – 200 residents supported via the fuel vouchers scheme
4. Winter Essentials – 250 residents supported
5. Energy Efficient Appliances – 100 residents supported
6. In Home Visits/Phone calls to residents to assist with applications to Priority Services Register and energy efficiency home upgrade schemes.
7. Help run social activities organised by The Coalition
8. Carry out further tasks requested and agreed with the Involvement Lead, appropriate to the role and grade of the job.

Our client, a prestigious London University, is currently seeking a temporary, full time (35 hours per week) Quality Assurance Administrator, running for 2-months in the first instance, based onsite 5-days per week in East London.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- Evaluating curriculum management processes and assessing learning processes within the school.
- Supporting academics in developing new or amending module specifications, including module proposal/amendment forms, ensuring relevant documentation is accurate & timely.

Waddesdon Estate is an historic estate of approximately 6,000 acres located in the Chilterns owned by the Rothschild Foundation and Waddesdon Estates LLP. The Estate enterprises include residential and commercial property letting operations, farming, forestry and a hospitality and private events business. The wider portfolio consists of properties in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, London, Scotland, and Europe. The Rothschild Foundation portfolio incudes buildings of significant historical significance, for example, Waddesdon Manor, the Dairy, the Stables, Windmill Hill Archive.
Waddesdon Manor was created by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild from 1874 and set in a Grade 1 listed garden, it is home to the Rothschild Collection and was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1957. Key Responsibilities:
