OVERVIEW
Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.
Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.
As part of our passionate and committed team of approximately 50 staff, our aspiration is that you will thrive and develop in this varied role. You will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who are impacted by domestic abuse.
JOB PURPOSE
Liberty House provides housing and support for up to 5 homeless young women aged 16-24 who are single, pregnant or have a young child and have experienced domestic abuse.
The support worker will be required to take on key-working responsibilities for the residents at Liberty House, as well as delivering other support work within the house and within the wider Liberty team. This could be related to pregnancy and parenting, life skills, psychoeducational support, understanding healthy relationships and building supportive peer relationships within the home, and supporting them to live independently.
The post holder will work to provide a secure, stable and homely environment and to act as a positive role model to residents. They will build professional and supportive relationships with residents and colleagues.
The project works to empower residents, providing them with information relating to their rights and enabling them to make decisions based on their options using a trauma informed approach.
As a member of the Liberty Team (16 – 24 year olds), the successful applicant will work collaboratively with the rest of the Children and Young People’s team, as well as the wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery
- Provide holistic, trauma informed, practical and emotional support to residents of Liberty House through regular 1-2-1 sessions. Develop individual support plans, which address any practical and emotional needs the resident may have, such as accessing benefits, life skills and perform risk assessments where needed.
- Organise and deliver group sessions that focus on life skills and strengthening relationships.
- Encourage the residents in positive parenting.
- Manage relationships within the house, act as a conciliator, arbitrator and reconciler in disputes between residents.
- Ensure residents adhere to house rules.
- Assist with the day to day general running of the house and office, to ensure they are fit for purpose and safe for team members and residents.
- Conduct safety checks around the house. Ensure all faults/repairs are reported and that the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.
- Comply with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
- Work effectively in partnership with other agencies.
- Work within our ethos of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at all times and instil these values in all areas of work, with service users, staff and external stakeholders.

- Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure reports and evaluations are completed as required.
- Be willing and available to work some evenings and weekends as required, as part of a rota for Liberty House team members, and also occasionally to support wider team activities such as representing Rising Sun at events (time off in lieu can be taken by arrangement with your line manager).

Knowledge and qualifications
- Good understanding of antenatal and postnatal care.
- Good understanding of effective parenting, particularly for parents of young babies.
- Good understanding of the impact of domestic violence and trauma on survivors, children and young people, families and communities.
- Knowledge of issues affecting survivors, and an understanding of the barriers they may face in accessing support.

Experience

Hours: 32-40 h per week
Salary range: £40-42,000 (based on 1FTE) depending on experience
Responsibilities
- Lead and innovate UK fundraising efforts, focusing on major donors and corporates.
- Develop a creative 3-year fundraising strategy and set actionable annual and quarterly objectives.
- Cultivate and expand relationships with new major donors, moving them along a prospect pipeline.
- Support the stewardship of existing major donor relationships, ensuring continued and increased support.
- Draft compelling theories of change, cases for support, and other key materials.
- Manage our visionary ‘donor circle’ initiative.
- Build and strengthen corporate partnerships, crafting tailored cultivation plans.
- Support the writing of successful grant applications and reports, as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of fundraising experience, ideally within an NGO or a related field.
- Proven success in securing significant funds from donors or corporates.
- Exceptional project management and organisational skills and the ability to write strong proposals and reports
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a confident and engaging presence and an impact driven mindset
- Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships
- Ability to travel nationally as needed.

Women and Girls Network (WGN) was established in 1987 and has spent over 30 years supporting women and girls across London affected by gendered violence. This includes childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape, prostitution (including trafficking and sexual exploitation), female genital mutilation (FGM), and so-called ‘honour’ based crimes such as forced marriage.
Our goal is to promote, preserve, and restore the mental health and wellbeing of women and girls, to empower them to make a total and sustainable recovery from the experiences of violence.
About the role
The Advice Casework Manager (ACM) is a new and exciting role within the Advice Service, and the post holder will spearhead the development and coordination of Women and Girls Network’s (WGN) casework provision. You will be leading a team of experienced caseworkers, managing the day to day running of WGN’s Advice Casework provision, enabling and leading the facilitation of innovative, responsive, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate services for survivors of violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Service development will be a pivotal part of this role; this will include identifying gaps in service provision and service reach, and creating opportunities for service development and innovation; as well as enhancing the service profile and visibility, building and maintaining effective partnership working with key agencies that are relevant for survivors of VAWG in London.
The ACM will provide leadership, guidance and support, creating and promoting a supportive, collaborative and productive working environment, where professional growth, development and successes are enabled and celebrated.

The role has the opportunity to help shape the delivery of HR services across the organisation and work with a People Director who is a supportive leader with a track record of developing people.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Review, update and revise organisational HR policies and procedures, ensuring these are rolled out effectively.
- Take a leading role in the upskilling and support of managers across the charity to allow a more hands-off approach from the people team.
- Manage employee relation cases, where these have been escalated from the advisor in the HR team or other line managers.

We are recruiting a Policy and Campaigns Manager to take forward our work on household debt. This role plays a key part in our campaign to end the UK’s household debt crisis.
Over ten million people in the UK are now ‘overindebted’, meaning they are behind on bills or are finding their debt repayments a heavy financial burden. The crisis has been growing over the last decade but has increased dramatically because of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. More and more people are now borrowing to cover bills and essentials.
Our campaign combines community organising with national level campaigning and advocacy work to bring the voices of those most affected by the debt crisis to the fore in debates on policy solutions. You will use your policy and campaigning expertise to help ensure the people most impacted by problem household debt have a say in influencing the policies that affect them. You will work on issues such as the growth in council tax debt and bailiff use, the huge build up in energy debt as a result of the cost of living crisis and making insolvency policy and practice fairer and more accessible so more people can get out of debt.
You will be a key member of our household debt project team, working alongside the Head of Campaigns, Head of Policy and Advocacy, Digital Campaigner and Lead Organiser.
We are looking for someone with great policy analysis and advocacy skills, a strong campaigning mindset, and a passion for social justice. We are not expecting you to already be an expert in all aspects of the role or in household debt policy but are looking for someone with the potential to develop quickly. Crucially, you will also need to appreciate why taking a community organising approach and building the power of people affected by debt is important, though you do not need to have experience in community organising.
This role will require some evening and weekend working, though this will be infrequent.

Job details

The Role
The Trusts & Foundations Manager (maternity cover) will be an experienced and accomplished Trusts & Foundations fundraiser, who will secure £500k+ in grants towards the Team’s £3.5 million projects income target, enabling the Charity to deliver its exciting capital and activity Masterplan.
Skillful at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, self-motivated and tenacious, the post holder will manage a personal portfolio of T&Fs, researching, developing and submitting high-quality, personalised five and six-figure funding proposals to contribute towards individual project targets.
Working as part of a small Team of experienced T&F and major donor fundraisers, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will play a key role in developing and managing the funding pipeline, delivering exceptional donor cultivation and stewardship to secure the income needed and establish a strong and loyal donor base for the Charity.
The post holder will have impeccable interpersonal and presentation skills and be comfortable representing the Charity and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Charity to achieve its strategic goals by generating the fundraising income required to deliver core activity and development works
- Work with the Major Gifts Team to build, manage and implement the funding pipeline, conducting research, writing briefing notes / cultivation plans, maintaining CRM records and producing regular progress reports
- Manage a personal portfolio of T&Fs: conduct research, develop and implement bespoke cultivation plans, prepare and deliver high-level funding proposals and provide exceptional stewardship
- Work with colleagues across the organisation to monitor project progress and help colleagues to understand and support the fundraising process
- Deputise for the Head of Major Gifts as required
- Support the Head of Major Gifts and the Head of Impact & Learning to plan and deliver project impact reports for funders
- Manage the Fundraising Officer, supporting them to manage their own portfolio of T&Fs, reviewing and providing constructive feedback on funding applications and ensuring that they provide efficient administrative support to the Major Gifts Team
Person Specification:
Experience and Knowledge
- Experienced T&F fundraiser with a good working knowledge of the sector
- Demonstrable success of securing five and six figure grants
- Expert bid writer
- Experience of managing senior stakeholders
- Basic understanding of logic / theory of change models and social impact measures
- Experience of using a CRM system
- Knowledge of charity financial governance and gift management processes
- Experience of business planning and managing a budget
- Some experience of people management is desirable

The Role
Lead and manage end-to-end project lifecycle for digital transformation initiatives, particularly focusing on the integration of cloud-based business support systems tailored for social care.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including social care managers and their staff, IT teams, and cloud service providers, to understand requirements, set goals, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk management, and budget monitoring, to ensure timely and on-budget project delivery.
Lead change management efforts to prepare teams for new processes and technology adoption, ensuring a smooth transition and promoting best practices for maximizing system effectiveness.
Oversee the technical aspects of cloud-based solution implementation, including integration with existing systems, data migration, and configuration to meet regulatory and operational standards.
The Candidate
Minimum of 5 years of technical project management experience, with at least 3 years in digital transformation projects within the social care or public sector.
Proven experience with cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and knowledge of business support systems tailored for the social care sector.
Strong background in Agile, Scrum, and/or Waterfall methodologies with hands-on experience in managing large-scale projects.
Skilled in leading change initiatives, developing change management strategies, and facilitating training sessions for new system implementations.
Strong capability in analysing complex problems, devising strategies, and implementing solutions within a structured, high-compliance environment.
Desirable bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Management, or related field. A masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)

Job Purpose
This role is an exciting opportunity to join, manage and support our Peer Support service which offers Peer Support group sessions in Central Bedfordshire, Bedford and Milton Keynes. This is a varied role where the post holder will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the service and for the line management of Peer Support Coordinator, Peer Mentor Facilitator, Peer Support Workers and volunteers across BLMK.
The role will also involve the assessment and processing of new referrals and leading and supporting on more complex cases that may require intervention for suitability. The success candidate will work with the Lived Experience Operational Services Manager to ensure that the Peer Support service consistently provides quality support for service users and is managed effectively in line with KPI’s.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Peer Support service including peer support groups and mentoring across localities in Central Bedfordshire, Bedford Borough and Milton Keynes and ensure outcomes which supports individuals with mental health and wellbeing needs in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed Peer Support model and requirements as well as contract requirements.
- Carry out assessments on individuals’ suitability for Mind BLMK’s Peer Support service in line with the Access to Service procedure.
- Work with the Lived Experience Operational Services Manager to ensure regular involvement of service users, volunteers and staff on local service delivery, organisational matters and wider mental health strategies.
- Provide cover and support for Peer Support groups and mentor facilitator in line with service needs.
- Spend time regularly in each location, ensuring best practice is in place across all aspects of the service, from assessment & delivery to data input & reporting.
- Work with the Lived Experience Operational Services Manager to support a team who bring their Lived Experience of mental health to their roles, keeping an up to date understanding of working with and managing those with Lived Experience.
- Maintain an effective workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (recruitment, line management, workload planning, support and development of Peer Support Coordinator, Workers, Mentor Facilitator and volunteers).
- Provide the infrastructure Peer Support Workers need to deliver the support safely and confidently, including identifying and implementing opportunities for upskilling, progression and training.
