The position:

The Humane League UK (THL UK) is seeking a data-focussed and strategic individual, with a strong background in digital fundraising, to help drive long-lasting improvements for millions of farmed animals.

This is an exciting time to join a growing organisation, with ambitious fundraising targets over the coming years as we work toward greater financial self-reliance and stability. 

To achieve those targets we need to accelerate our individual giving and digital fundraising programme. 

You can be part of our Development Team helping to make this happen.

You’ll develop and execute our digital fundraising strategy, utilising data to maximise acquisition, engagement, optimisation and conversion of our supporter base to grow our income. By significantly increasing the number of regular givers, converting a higher percentage of non-givers to donors, and acquiring new supporters who can be converted into future donors, you can make sure that our work continues to have long-lasting impacts - ending cages for egg-laying hens, convincing corporates to commit to improving chicken welfare in their supply chains, challenging the Government over the use of fast-growing breeds of chicken, and working to secure the first legislation to protect farmed fish.

Who you are:

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of analysing, assessing and utilising data, making the most of technical solutions and making informed decisions to optimise and enhance fundraising performance. You’ll have good experience working with CRMs and donor data. If you have experience implementing a new CRM solution in an organisation, this will be a big plus. You will have excellent attention to detail and high standards - ensuring clean and good quality data, maintaining consistent data use across the organisation.

You will have a proven track record of delivering digital fundraising strategies and successful digital fundraising campaigns, as well as developing supporter journeys. You will be someone who thrives on collaborating across an organisation to ensure communications and campaigns are as effective as possible, leading to increased acquisition, engagement and conversion.

You are someone who is able to use their initiative to solve problems and overcome challenges. You are self-motivated, able to work autonomously, be proactive and resourceful. You are a good organiser and project manager, able to manage complex tasks and keep projects on track, ensuring good internal communication and collaboration.

Primary Duties:

• Lead on developing and executing our digital fundraising strategy: working with our Digital Communications Manager to make sure it aligns with and feeds into our wider organisational digital strategy, as well as with the Head of Development to make sure it aligns with our wider fundraising strategy.

• Management of our new CRM: we are in the process of selecting a new CRM solution to support fundraising at THL UK. This role will initially take responsibility for getting this implemented and embedded in the organisation, and then take on the day-to-day management and responsibility of the CRM to make sure we utilise the platform to its full potential and resolve any challenges or issues.

• Coordinating our end of year fundraising appeal: our biggest of the year, working with our Digital Fundraiser to develop engaging content and communications, and with our Major Gifts Fundraiser and Head of Development to secure match funds and major gifts, to ensure we secure valuable income each year (this appeal raised over £100k in 2024). You’ll help set and track the targets and metrics for the campaign, and conduct post-campaign analysis to capture what we learn to inform our future activities.

• With a focus on acquisition, retention, and conversion, work with our Digital Communications Manager to map out and develop donor journeys as part of our wider supporter journeys, using technological solutions to ensure supporters are progressing effectively.

• Regularly assess and analyse supporter and donor data, using these insights to shape our strategy and activities. This includes monitoring engagement levels across various touch points, such as donating, volunteering, taking digital actions, or engaging with our communications, as well as evaluating segmentation and targeting of key audiences. Identify the data needed to inform decision-making and establish mechanisms to capture it effectively.

• Work with the Finance Operations Lead to make sure all supporter and donation data in our CRM is accurate, complete and up-to-date: this includes ensuring that Gift Aid claims are regularly made, donation data is regularly reconciled with our finance system, that we have a holistic picture of our supporters, and we have a regular programme of data cleansing in place.

• Ensure our donation processes are optimised: allowing us to minimise any possible friction on our donation pages and increase the percentage of those going on to make a donation. Ensuring that we have processes in place to capture abandoned baskets and failed payments, and any technical issues which could disrupt our ability to collect payments are monitored and resolved quickly, working with our technical partners or external experts where necessary.

• Oversee the development of any new donation pages or donor data collection forms: whether those are created in-house or by an external consult or agency.

• Make sure THL UK team members are getting what they need from our CRM and technical solutions. Ensuring that they are using systems correctly and consistently, to avoid poor practices which might result in bad data or sub-optimal functionality. Including access and user permissions, notifications and alerts for new donors and donations, training and support, and access to dashboards and reports needed to inform their work.

• Manage any external support required to optimise our CRM and technological solutions: including our CRM partner, payment processing partner and any additional consultants or third parties. Work with them to make sure any technical issues or significant architectural changes are addressed.

• Provide day-to-day support to our Digital Fundraiser: offering advice and guidance,  working with them on campaigns and communications to help us achieve the goals as set out in our digital fundraising strategy, including regular pushes for key income streams such as regular giving.

• Make sure we optimise any available budget to increase acquisition and conversion to help us achieve our strategic goals.

• Keep colleagues up-to-date on our digital fundraising plans and make sure those plans are fed into our organisation-wide planning tools.

• Look for opportunities for technology to enhance fundraising at THL UK, including use of AI.

In addition:

• Attending relevant events and conferences as necessary: whether to increase your learning, engage with peers in the animal protection or fundraising sectors, or to help raise our profile and support our wider fundraising efforts.

• Helping drive understanding of and engagement with fundraising across the organisation, with staff, volunteers and trustees: sharing updates through presentations, workshops, written communications, or other effective formats to keep the wider team informed on fundraising progress. 

• Participating in team meetings including note-taking and facilitation.

• Help us make THL UK an inclusive workplace where employees and supporters are proud to be members of the movement

• Demonstrate commitment to creating a stronger and more effective animal protection movement through inclusion and belonging.Recognising the need for all of us to do better for social justice on a personal and organisational level.

• Attending in-person team workshops several times a year.

• Performing any other duties assigned by the Head of Development.

Hours:

This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. The pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.

During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

A strategic analytical professional responsible for managing client experience assessment through annual Client Exit Interview surveys; providing technical data-driven insights to support programming, fundraising, grant management, and advocacy efforts.

Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to collaborate with diverse teams, including country program staff, researchers, and external partners, to drive evidence-based decision-making. Experience with project management or cross-functional (matrix) team working is desirable.

About the role:

This is an ideal post for someone with experience and interest in bereavement work, looking to join a forward thinking, new service. This is also a great chance to be working alongside the Healthcare & Education Department within HMP Bronzefield and be part of a prison services team in Advance.

Using a trauma informed approached, the Loss & Bereavement Specialist will conduct a person-centred assessment to understand the extent of the client’s emotional needs and the impact of loss due to imprisonment or contact with the criminal justice system whilst also identifying practical and specialist needs. They will work with women to develop a support plan, ensuring they are equipped with information and knowledge about how to navigate possible changes in circumstances related to her children’s care and offer crisis intervention and support during acute phases of loss/bereavement.

The Loss & Bereavement Specialist Worker will liaise with the Prison Healthcare team, OMU, visits team and the Family Support Officer to facilitate interactions between women and their children/family members, particularly considering support is in place after visits and that the women’s emotional needs are met in custody and community via our Women’s centres.

The Specialist Worker will create a link between prison and the community, helping women to navigate support services and to positively re-integrate into their community upon release. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women. They will be based in the community and will provide a drop-in service in HMP Bronzefield to support women who are close to release.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential

About You:

To be successful as the Loss & Bereavement Specialist Worker you will need the below experience and skills:

Experience of working with bereaved individuals and providing grief counselling including knowledge of various therapeutic modalities relevant to grief counselling

Comprehensive understanding of the grieving process and experience of working with bereaved and loss as well as knowledge of traumatic and complex grief/loss.

An understanding of violence against women and girls and its links to women in the criminal justice system.

Proven ability and experience as a caseworker delivering trauma responsive interventions which support resettlement and rehabilitation of vulnerable people in the criminal justice system whether in the community or in prisons

Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload including maintaining and updating records, remaining focused on action plan goals, and keeping to deadlines

What the job involves

We’re looking for two Events and Community Coordinators to join our Events and Community Team, one permanent role and a second fixed term contract for 9 months covering a secondment. We are a results-driven team focused on maximising opportunities, reaching ambitious goals, and delivering an outstanding experience for our supporters

Our team raise funds through a range of activities including:

· our own events (e.g. March for Men)

· virtual products (e.g. The Month Series)

· third party events (e.g. London Marathon)

· Golf Days

· helping community fundraisers who organise their own activity

You’ll be our first point of contact for our fundraisers. You'll provide admin and support through telephone, email, and social media channels. You’ll build and manage relationships with existing and new supporters. From registration to the end of their supporter journey you'll help motivate during challenges, offer fundraising advice and ensure thanks at the end of a first-class experience.

Whilst each Coordinator has a primary area of responsibility across different types of events, you’ll also work across teams to support where needed during busy periods of activity.

You’ll also work with our Communications teams. This supports the planning and delivery of our activity. You'll help engage with our digital adverts and identify compelling supporter stories. This helps to raise the profile of our fundraising products, as well as prostate cancer and Prostate Cancer UK.

What we want from you

You’ll have the drive and eagerness to provide crucial support to our sector-leading programme of events which generated over £11.5m of gross income in 2024-25. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their fundraising career to grow, develop and gain valuable skills and experience in a fundraising role within a progressive and innovative organisation. You’ll be part of a passionate and high energy team working hard to create a world where no man dies from prostate cancer.

You’ll make a positive and valuable contribution to the success of the Events and Community Fundraising team through excellent communication skills and being proactive in supporting our event participants. You’ll have a strong eye for detail, customer-centric mindset and will be able to prioritise a busy workload to ensure we are able to consistently deliver excellent supporter care. You’ll be self-motivated, well organised and have a ‘can-do’ approach to the role.

About the role:

The Advance Specialist Prison & Probation Advocate will support women within the prison setting, provide pre-release support, focused on Accommodation, Finance, debt & benefits, Family & significant others and Social inclusion including ‘through the gate’ support.

This exciting new role will be based in HMP Bronzefield and will support in developing referral pathways for women and work in partnership with different departments and services within the prison as well as those in the community. You will co-design an action plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their accommodation, finance, debt and benefits and health needs and any risks in relation to the interventions identified, as they prepare for release. The role will involve a combination of casework-based approach with delivery of programmes and courses, along with a signposting and advice service for the women in custody.

You will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with women in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.

You will build strong relationships with the Pre Release teams to ensure clients are able to maintain or access suitable accommodation, finance, benefits and debt, family and social inclusion support including negotiating terms on behalf of the women. Ensure that interventions are responsive to and meet the needs of women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds. This, together with referrals to wider partner organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists.

The IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.  They will advise women on criminal justice and civil remedies and related matters, support women to attend court where necessary, and coordinate the provision of multi-agency support. You will hold a reduced caseload of survivors and will also be required to work as part of Advance’s duty team based in Brent and Ealing which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.  

About You:

To be successful as the Duty IDVA you will need to:

Have a relevant qualification or training, for example in domestic abuse, criminal justice, law, social work or other related area. Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, and of best practice within the domestic abuse sector. Bring an excellent understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation, with particular regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children with experienced as a domestic abuse advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs.

You are skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. You have proven experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic abuse and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential and the ability to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision, and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Risk and Audit Officer - Partnerships to help support internal audits and risk management across the organisation.

The Role: 
•    This role is key to helping us provide independent assurance to the Board and Executive Leadership Team on the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management across the organisation.

The Candidate:

As a Housing Domestic Abuse Advocate, you will provide intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse. Working within a fast-paced team, you will help empower women and ensure that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. You will have your own caseload of survivors who hold social tenancies with local authorities or housing associations, and you will encourage them to engage with our service and ensure they have access to support. About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job. You will have a good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities. You will have proven skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning. We will expect that you have experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have and an understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children. Lastly you will bring your knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation.

As an Associate Director in the Paid Media Team, you'll oversee the execution of digital advertising campaigns across clients ranging from leading UK and global charities and UN bodies, to global brands and their CSR programmes.

You will know how to drive strong performance metrics for clients, whilst thinking holistically about the brand and how these metrics contribute to wider conversation about marketing budgets and long-term growth objectives. You will be a senior member of our media practice in London, supporting the Media Director in shaping processes and innovating our client channel mix to drive results.

This may be the right role for you if you’re someone who is equally strategic, creative, and analytical. Switching seamlessly from a client presentation to writing an insightful analysis of campaign performance, and rolling up your sleeves to launch advertising campaigns in new platforms are no big deal for you. You’re used to spending most of your day speaking in acronyms — terms like CPA, DSP, VTR, and ROAS are a natural part of your vocabulary — and you know how to explain them to clients and colleagues.

A day in the life

• Translate clients’ strategic visions into media objectives and KPIs to accomplish a wide range of client objectives including direct response (lead gen and fundraising), awareness, persuasion, and advocacy.
• Analyse ongoing and historical performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, make strategic recommendations, and generate reporting and insights to drive optimisation.
• Have a strong POV on measurement, attribution, and conversion tracking, and apply that knowledge to strategic recommendations and ongoing campaign management.
• Participate in (and frequently lead) client-facing interactions — you’ll be the subject-matter expert for the platforms you manage.
• Plan, build, manage, and optimise media campaigns across multiple platforms, and oversee others in the team across multiple accounts to ensure media buying is efficient, effective and compliant. 
• Work collaboratively with other internal or external teams, including media planners, strategists, account directors, designers, and analysts, to produce campaigns, creative ideas, audience and target recommendations, and experimental designs.
• Be an internal and external thought leader and help keep us up to date with the latest digital media trends by maintaining relationships with media partners, and engaging in media R&D projects, writing blog posts, and participating on panels.

Some things we're looking for

• 6-8 years experience in a hands-on paid media planning and buying role using a mix of digital channels (Social, Search, Display, Video, Audio, etc) 
• Demonstrated experience translating client business goals into cohesive media strategies and specific KPIs, and a record executing campaigns that delivered on those goals.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects on time, within budget, and meet performance goals.
• High proficiency with digital advertising platforms — you’ve demonstrated a level of mastery of paid social, paid search, and/or programmatic trading — as well as Google Analytics and other measurement platforms
• Exceptional attention to detail, especially with regards to campaign setup and trafficking, QA, and reporting.
• Ability to adapt to new situations, solve problems on the fly, and communicate with those around you.
