Our adoption teams focus on recruiting adoptive parents who can consider fostering to adopt and/or adopting a wide range of children including those over four years old, sibling groups of two or more children, children from diverse ethnicities and children who may have physical or learning disabilities. With access to our specialist therapeutic services, we are proud to provide excellent lifetime support for our families’ adoption journeys.
Working closely with the Team Manager, you will provide support and supervision to a team of dedicated and experienced social workers. This will include assisting with managing workloads across the team as well as coaching and supervising team members to ensure that the highest standards of quality and professional practice are achieved and maintained, and they reach their full potential. In addition, you will carry your own small caseload and deputise for the Team Manager as needed.
You should be a qualified registered social worker, with at least 3 years’ child social care experience including adoption experience. Skilled at undertaking more complex assessments, your own standards of practice will be consistently high, and you will work with the child at the centre of all that you do. With excellent communication skills, you’ll be a confident networker, able to build successful working relationships within your own team, across the service and with external professionals.

The vacancy
Your typical day, as Senior Support Worker will be to inspire, lead and support your team of Housing Support Worker (Teenagers 16-17 years) across two of our new Ofsted Registered Schemes in Lambeth.
You will have regular one to ones, team meetings and deliver training and staff development sessions so we can exceed the expectations of our young residents. You will ensure your team are carrying out the needs and risk assessments and that each young resident receives a flexible personalised support plan which is regularly reviewed. You might have to liaise promptly with colleagues or partner agencies regarding safeguarding issues which needs to be addressed to protect our young residents from harm, abuse, or neglect.
Your goal with the help of your team of Housing Support workers will be to guide our young residents towards securing a place on the housing register or finding appropriate rental properties.
You will ensure that we are offering our young residents with the practical and emotional support necessary to regain their independence. Given the complexity of their needs, it’s crucial to establish consistent, trusting relationships, ensuring they feel secure and supported.
You will need to be empathic, have excellent listening skills, be non-judgmental attitude, and can recognise and respond to potential issues. You must be capable of working autonomously, navigating, and defusing difficult situations to prevent escalation.
What we’re looking for:
- Have you got experience of working with teenagers between the ages of 16-17 years who are vulnerable and have complex needs?
- Do you have experience of supervising or leading a team who work different shifts (across seven days, including weekends, bank holidays and night shifts)?

- Provide admin and operational support to the Fundraising Team

- Ensure that fundraisers and supporters get timely correspondents by email or phone.

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day-to-day management of their designated service, including line managing the relevant front-line staff. You will lead and develop competence of direct reports as well as carry caseloads of customers requiring support. Job Summary
To be the initial point of contact for customers accessing Huddersfield Mission services. To provide initial stage advice and assistance on a variety of needs. To work within the Advice Team to ensure the smooth running of Huddersfield Mission’s drop-in service, responding to requests for advice and support to customers and triaging them to the correct team member for support.
Main Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for clients referred in to the service, ensuring that comprehensive impact and risks assessments are completed and a tailored response to each client’s needs is provided.
- To ensure the effective delivery of the Mission advice drop-in, telephone support service and appointments service
- Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring information for the service
- To make onward referrals and signpost where appropriate to other sources of help, such as statutory and non-statutory agencies
- To work with our Community Champion and other health partners to support customers underlying health needs particularly where these might be addressed with community-based intervention.
- To ensure impartiality and confidentiality when dealing with customers
- Regularly update electronic case records using our Lamplight – our CRM system to enable continuity of casework, monitoring and information retrieval.
Organisational Responsibilities
- To work in a non-judgemental, person-centred, asset-based way to enable customers to achieve positive outcomes, such as maximising income or accessing health and wellbeing services.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and adults at risk and to take appropriate action, in line with our Safeguarding Policy and procedures under the direction of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.
- To manage customer behaviour within the Mission policy.
- To implement and adhere to all Mission policies and practices in relation to all aspects of our work
- Any other duties and responsibilities, identified by the Advice Services Manager as are within your capabilities and level of responsibility, in order to meet the needs of the Huddersfield Mission
- To participate in meetings at the Mission, to promote partnership working with other support services within Kirklees
- To liaise with internal and external agencies where appropriate, including safeguarding referrals.

The Role
The Events Officer plays a key role, working closely with the Member Events and Partnerships Manager, membership team and members.
The Events and Training Officer is crucial in delivery of the member offer and strategy, with responsibility for the ongoing support and delivery of building capacity and capability through:
- Impactful member events both online and in-person
- Capturing and responding to member insights
- Member Communications
This is a diverse membership consisting of charities based in hospitals, mental health, community, and ambulance services and across all four nations of the UK. Members are all at different stages of their journey and have in common their drive to grow and deliver greater impact for their patients, staff, and communities. This role will help deliver events across the membership and support opportunities to help develop the whole sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support delivery of yearly in-person and remote events programme including flagship Annual Conference
- Create, manage and promote the booking processes for member events
- Design, manage and deliver regular member Webinar Wednesday programme
- Facilitate peer learning and support through Regional & Special Interest Groups
- Gather insights and feedback, design surveys to identify member need, data analysis and reporting
- Deputise for Member Events and Partnerships Manager at events, as required
- Manage member questions and queries
About You
You will have experience of events administration and cordination, ideally within a membership organisation, with a proven track record of working as part of a team to deliver joint objectives.
You should be an excellent communicator and sensitive to stakeholder relations, passionate about delivering impactful work, with a proven ability to be highly organised and manage your own workload.
You will need:
- Experience of events administration and of using a CRM system
- Demonstrable experience of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and an ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record for collaborative working and building sustainable relationships at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to assimilate information clearly and prepare appropriate, clear and concise content
- Ideally, knowledge or experience of working for a membership organisation or in the charity sector

We are searching for a Peer Support Worker to join our mental health services. The role is a peer support worker, who would facilitate face to face and zoom groups, and help us with the smooth running of Mind BLMK services. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the recovery journey needed to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Our peer support and recovery services are a key element of the services we offer, and we are looking for someone who can use their own lived experiences to provide support to help individuals achieve their goals.
Service Delivery
- Support an existing peer led eco-therapy group to work towards self-sustainability
- Coordinate the service processing of client referrals, adding details to the data base and assessing client suitability by carrying out risk assessments.
- Support clients to access other services within Mind BLMK.
- Encourage and support client engagement with Mind BLMK through the influence and participation process, Guarantor Membership, and training opportunities.
- Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
- Carry out Cash Handling, Health and Safety and Data Collection responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures, requirements and guidance.

Official Job Title: Early Literacy Interventionist
Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you keen to work with children to support and develop their phonics and reading skills?
40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children.
We are seeking a part-time Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI), based at Galleywall Primary School in Southwark, South London. This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.
For your caseload of target children, you will conduct an initial baseline assessment and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.
