The Head of Communications is a new senior role with leadership responsibility for:

Developing and delivering an integrated communications and engagement strategy to bring the diocesan vision, strategic plan and key programme areas to life, and build buy-in with stakeholders (e.g. parishes and congregations in the diocese) across a range of media.

Leading a digital channel refresh, designing channels (e.g. new website) and content around stakeholder needs and accessibility.

Day-to-day operational activity

• Advise senior colleagues (e.g. the Bishop, Diocesan Secretary, Archdeacons, etc) on all communications and engagement matters, contributing to the formation of relevant policies meeting diverse audience needs
• Line management of the Communications Team, lead on the preparation of the team’s annual operating plan, progress and KPI reporting, and oversee the preparation of the team’s annual budget and be accountable for all related expenditure.
• Keep up to date on best practice within the charity sector, latest communications and engagement insight, learning, and tools to future proof the digital offering.
• Build and maintain contacts with the Communications and Engagement community across the Church of England (which includes the East Midlands Communications network, the National Communications network and the teams at Church House, London and Lambeth Palace) to share good practice, skills and expertise.
• Build and maintain contacts with stakeholder partners e.g. Visit Derby, Visit Derbyshire, Peak District National Park.Lead the compilation, design, production and distribution of accessible printed, audio-visual, and digital materials.
• Take overall editorial responsibility for the development and management of all digital channel content (including the website) for internal and external audiences.
• Lead an expansion of the diocese’s and bishop’s social media presence, sourcing or developing content, sharing newsworthy information from across our diocese, and sharing impact reports.

The ideal candidate for the Chief Officer position will have a passion for creativity and community engagement, along with strong leadership, bid writing and strategic planning skills. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the Centre’s operations, including program development, fundraising, and community outreach. 

This role can influence the delivery of the mental health agenda across Greater Manchester and requires the jobholder to be a positive leader and role model for the CLC’s members, employees, and volunteers. 

The Chief Officer will also work on behalf of the Charity to develop and deliver the Vision and Mission through the delivery of the strategic plan, ensuring the CLC’s ongoing sustainability, growth, and success in todays challenging economic environment

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop and provide strategic leadership and direction to the Creative Living Centre. 

• Develop and implement programs that align with our mission and goals. 

• Oversee budgets, expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure is within planned targets. Accountable to the Board of Trustees for the overall financial health of the CLC, including ensuring that new funding opportunities are pursued. 

• Oversee fundraising efforts and build relationships with donors and sponsors. 

• Manage the Centre’s budget and ensure financial sustainability, asset management and risk appraisal. 

• Foster a positive and inclusive community environment. 

• Represent the Centre at public events and in the media. 

• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners. 

• Ensure all staff are effectively line managed and performance managed

• Take overall responsibility for achieving, monitoring, and reporting on performance against targets in all areas of the CLC’s activities. 

• Report to the Trustee Board regularly on progress against key strategic objectives, providing information and answering for the CLC’s performance. 

• Ensure that the Board operates within statutory and corporate approved frameworks, requirements and guidelines. 

Who are we looking for? 

• Proven experience in a leadership role developing business plans, preferably in a non-profit or community organization ideally a mental health charity. 

• Strong leadership style with line management, team building  experience. 

• Robust knowledge of Charity Governance, Policies, and statutory requirements 

• Strong understanding of creative and cultural sectors. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans. 

• Experience in fundraising and financial management. 

• Passion for creativity and community engagement. 

• Experience of working closely with Boards of Trustees, advising, and guiding robust decision making 

• Financial management including forecasting, budget setting and monitoring income and expenditure. 

• Risk strategy and management. 

• Knowledge of Mental Health Strategies both at local, Greater Manchester and National levels highly desirable. 

• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple activities/workstreams. 

• Excellent IT skills with ability to prepare reports in Word, spreadsheets in Excel and Power Point 

What you can expect in return 

The role is part-time, 26.5 hours per week. The successful candidate can work the hours in a variable pattern which can suit both parties, subject to agreement with the CLC’s board of trustees. The successful candidate will be required to spend time at the CLC each week.

Additional Criteria for Success:
- Proven track record in securing 6 or 7 figure corporate partnerships
- Experience of working on Charity of the Year (COTY), strategic, commercial and foundation partnerships.
- Experience of winning new business across a range of income streams, including Charity of the Year, CRM and sponsorship.
- Evidence of writing proposals, delivering pitches and winning corporate partnerships with a £100k+ value.
- Experience of identifying, prospecting and securing commercial relationships with corporate organisations in a charitable and / or commercial setting.

Salary: £34,500.00 - 41,500 + LWA £3,500 if applicable
Location: This role can be hybrid or home-based and can be based anywhere within the UK.

SWEDA is growing fast. Since the pandemic, the number of children, young people and adults who need our support has grown exponentially. An estimated 1.25m people in the UK have an eating disorder, and an NHS mental health questionnaire in 2023 found that 59.4% of 17-19 year olds ‘screened positive’ for having eating problems.

We have responded by expanding geographically (into Bristol and South Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire), developing our children and young people’s services and investing in the development of a fundraising team. Our Head of Fundraising has been in post for just over a year and our Fundraising & Communications Officer joined in January 2024. Now we need a Fundraising Manager to help us develop and grow our community fundraising to diversify our income and secure SWEDA’s future. We are a small and friendly team and will make you feel very welcome.

Your role will be to help us devise and deliver community and individual fundraising campaigns, secure and cultivate corporate partnerships and forge relationships with schools and other community partners. You will also recruit and manage a team of volunteers to fundraise and raise awareness. You will be someone who loves meeting people and is ambitious and driven to achieve results. You will have lots of enthusiasm, energy and ideas. You will be comfortable trying new things and in being adaptable; we want to scale our public fundraising activity and are applying a ‘test and learn’ approach. We are looking for a candidate who has the necessary skills and experience to fulfil the following role:

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, lead and deliver on income generation plans for individuals (including regular giving and appeals), community and corporate fundraising to grow SWEDA’s income year on year.
• Forge and cultivate relationships with supporters – individuals and businesses – in person, on the phone and through SWEDA’s communications channels.
• Maintain a clear focus on acquisition across community, corporate and individuals, with dedicated time for proactive prospect research.

Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated fundraiser to join our successful team as we embark on a major capital campaign to raise £150m. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, this role will be responsible for personally securing six and seven-figure gifts from High-Net-Worth Individuals.

The Senior Philanthropy Manger will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy, the Senior Principal Gifts Manager and the rest of the Philanthropy team, feeding into the overall strategy of high-value partnerships. They will manage a portfolio of funder accounts which deliver long term, high-value strategic partnerships as well as building new relationships.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will also manage 2 roles – Patrons Manager and a Philanthropy Manager (HNWI and Legacies), with oversight of both the Patrons Programme and Legacy programme.

The Philanthropy team is growing and there will be substantial opportunity for professional development within a world-leading cultural organisation.

Main tasks and responsibilities

· Manage a portfolio of prospects, in the UK and abroad, capable of making six and seven-figure gifts.

· Raise income in line with agreed personal and team fundraising targets.

· Working closely with the whole Philanthropy team to coordinate on the overall strategy and targets for maximising philanthropic giving to the NHM.

· Manage a team of 3, which includes line management of a Patrons Manager and Philanthropy Manager (HNWI/Legacies), whilst motivating them to meet key objectives and targets within the overall Philanthropy team.

· Work alongside the Philanthropy team, Special Events team and Corporate team in the preparation of written donor proposals, donor stewardship and the planning and execution of events related to the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors.

· Work independently to plan and implement creative strategies to increase philanthropic gifts at the six and seven-figure level by creating bespoke cultivation and solicitation plans that utilise senior stakeholders effectively.

· Actively solicit funding personally, as well as plan solicitations for senior staff as appropriate.

· Build strong relationships and partner with key staff across NHM in line with our strategic ambitions.

· Prepare written briefings for senior management and with donors and prospective donors as well as follow up documentation and correspondence.

· Ensure full and timely records of all activity are kept on the database in adherence to set policies and procedures.

· Promote best practice in fundraising across the NHM.

Person Specification

Essential

· Significant fundraising or income generating experience and a proven track record of securing income at the six-figure+ level.

· Demonstrated success in managing a high value and diverse portfolio of major donors that include complex relationships (e.g. interests and relationships across a large organisation).

· Experience of working within a results-oriented environment, with a record of achieving personal KPIs and targets.

· Exceptional written communication skills with an ability to convey detailed or scientific information in a concise and engaging manner.  

· Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills and with proven experience of managing or liaising with either clients, customers or charity donors.

· Proven experience of cross-team working and liaising with multiple stakeholders.

· Good understanding of the process of fundraising.

· Excellent administration and organisation skills, demonstrating the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines whilst working under pressure.  

· Ability to work well as a member of a team as well as on own initiative.

· Ability to attend early morning and evening events as required, acting as an ambassador for the Natural History Museum.

Desirable

· A demonstrable track-record in securing and managing funding from high-net-worth individuals.

· Management experience.

· Experience of working with a fundraising / CRM system.

· Experience carrying out research to a brief (preferably fundraising research, including external research, such as giving history and funding priorities, and internal research, such as gathering figures, statistics and information).

· Knowledge of and an interest in natural history, science, environmental and/or the cultural sector.

Key Responsibilities

• To deliver your fundraising target through the oversight and significant growth of your caseload of supporters. Using research, networking and your existing contacts to onboard new partners and create a 3 year pipeline of prospects enabling our income and support to underpin the organisation’s vision and mission.
• Deliver exceptional proposals, reports, engagement opportunities and updates in a timely manner using your knowledge and experience to champion our donor needs, develop effective comms to your accounts and work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure the impact data, engagement opportunities, policies and stories are presented to win and renew funding, measured against financial targets, renewal % and average gift levels.
• Develop the customer experience for your caseload to world class standard. Review and enhance existing processes, engagement tools and materials to ensure they are contributing towards strong and sustained relationships with supporters. Ensure gifts and donor relationship information is accurately recorded, processed, thanked and reported on in a timely and confidential fashion using Raisers Edge and developing a strong relationship with the Giving Team and other internal stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively and accurately with other entity Fundraising Teams. Support and collaborate with wider fundraising opportunities and to attend all relevant fundraising team meetings to have a rounded understanding of what we are trying to achieve in our fundraising across the group.
• Responsible for keeping updated on relevant fundraising and volunteering best practice, regulations and opportunities. Ensuring you undertake the training offered to you, proactively seek out learning opportunities within the third sector and Christian or Corporate philanthropy networks.
• Other ad hoc projects as they arise. Including but not limited to working with our network to facilitate partnership opportunities with Churches and LYN Hubs, being willing to support with advice for developing their local fundraising. Attending and supporting donor events, ongoing research and improving team and wider working practices.  

The Right Candidate

• A 3 year track record of demonstrable growth in income against targets.
• Experience of identifying and developing funding partnerships using research, networking and delivering timely proposals for funding and engagement with a high conversion rate.
• Able to accept responsibility for personal targets and demonstrate ability to contribute to wider team KPIs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to create effective communication for both Christian and secular audiences.
• A good working knowledge of MS Office and CRM Databases.
• Organised with an ability to prioritise and work effectively with multiple deadlines and projects.

Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference. We don’t just provide a bed for the night; we offer a home, meaningful work, and a sense of belonging.

Founded in 1991, Emmaus now has 30 communities across the UK, with three more in development. We currently support over 850 people who have experienced homelessness, offering them a home for as long as they need it, along with work and training in our social enterprises. Our goal is to provide a home to 1,100 people by 2025.

About the role.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Major Donor, Corporate, and Trusts & Foundations fundraising function. You’ll manage a team of three, with two direct line reports: the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Trust & Foundation Manager.

This role will focus primarily on supporting new business development in these areas and establishing a major donor programme.

Corporate and T&F fundraising are well established at Emmaus UK and performing well, but there is capacity for them to grow significantly with strategic support and guidance from this role.

Major Donor fundraising is a key area as there is not currently an established programme, but there is great potential amongst supporters of other giving streams to make significant personal donations.

This role’s focus will generally be on winning new business and nurturing your team so they can carry these relationships forward as they develop their skills under your leadership. You’ll help your team create compelling proposals for innovative projects while looking at the big picture and utilising resources to meet organisational goals.

Who we are looking for.

We are seeking a well-rounded and seasoned high value giving fundraiser. You will primarily be a major donor expert with experience in at least one, but ideally both, of corporate and trusts & foundations giving.

You’ll be an excellent relationship manager and have a deep understanding of donor motivation, which will enable you to adapt your approach and win new business in your key income areas.

Suitable candidates will also be excellent managers who can inspire and coach line reports to be better fundraisers. Lastly, you will be deeply motivated by the cause of homelessness and Emmaus UK’s inspiring work.

The charity’s Finance Manager will slot into the Corporate Services Directorate, working with the Director of Finance (Deputy CEO) to build on the great work of the Interim Finance Project Manager.

The postholder will have the opportunity to drive improvements and efficiencies across our core finance and IT operations. The postholder will help the charity collate, analyse and present its increasingly complex KPIs and data.

This is a permanent, full-time role paying a salary of up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience. This is a hybrid role in London and the postholder is expected to work from the office 3 days a week.

The Senior Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager is a key role which will be pivotal in supporting RF’s strategic aims.  Having overall responsibility for fundraising at RF, you will lead the development and delivery of a bold and effective philanthropy programme (trusts, foundations, corporate partnerships and major donors ) in order to build and maintain a long-term and sustainable pipeline of high value supporters.

RF are looking for a confident, relationship-led fundraiser, with demonstrable experience in corporate fundraising and an understanding of trusts and foundations fundraising. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator across all mediums, demonstrating tact and gravitas and be passionate about networking and building relationships.

Our South West region spans a diverse and complex geography, taking in coastal shores, eight cities and two national parks, with a complexity of deprivation in seemingly wealthy areas.

• be accountable for all aspects of strategic and operational management within the dedicated region, including local prioritisation, grant budget management, operational excellence, and key stakeholder management.
• You will be the key representative of The National Lottery Community Fund in the South West.
• You will oversee awards of approximately £21m per annum within the region alongside being responsible for a portfolio of over £80m grants in management.
• You will lead a team of 15 largely remotely-based, mobile team members in the region.
• You will be a core member of the England Leadership Team, maintaining strong relationships with other Regional Heads as well as with colleagues in the Central Funding and Partnership Teams.

We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to lead the efficient and effective management of the PSHE Association’s business and services, including oversight of the business pipeline and financial functions.

The PSHE Association is the national body for PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) education – the school curriculum subject that supports children and young people's mental and physical health, relationships, safety, economic wellbeing and careers.

A charity and membership organisation, the Association supports a national network of over 50,000 teachers and schools with resources, training, guidance and advice. We work nationally to raise PSHE education standards for all children including in partnership with a range of leading charities, government bodies, corporates and other partners. This is an exciting time for us as we are expanding our services to meet growing demand.

Working in close collaboration with our two Directorates, this role will require the post-holder to lead on and manage new bids, tenders and proposals, and to support the ongoing project management of successful contracts and grants. The Business Manager will also play a key role in supporting the Training and Events Team and Subject Specialist team in developing a new on-demand training offer via our Learning Management System (LMS).

The post is offered on a full time (32 hours per week), permanent basis with a six-month probationary period. The PSHE Association is a shorter working week employer meaning that employees work a nine-day fortnight with every second Friday off.  

Purpose

• To lead the efficient and effective running of the PSHE Association’s business and workstreams, including leading and supporting the Directorates in the delivery of our services
• To oversee the pipeline and financial functions, working closely with our accountants and office manager
• To lead the development of submissions for bids/tenders and proposals for clients, and provide project management support for roll-out and delivery of successful bids
• To work with the senior leadership team to develop new services in priority growth areas, undertake market research, and support implementation of new services
• To oversee the operations of our training and events offer, including leading and supporting the operations team to fulfil its duties in these areas and ensure successful integration of any new or improved systems and processes
