This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join International Alert’s global communications team.

We are looking for an excellent candidate to tell impactful stories about the incredible work of Alert through engaging online, multimedia content and high quality, visually appealing publications. The role will lead on delivering our publications and working with teams across the organisation and a range of geographies to tell Alert’s story powerfully and to a high standard.

With a proven ability to manage complex projects, develop and deliver communications plans across a range of mediums, you’ll work with colleagues and suppliers to deliver great work to deadline. You’ll have a strong creative streak, with a passion for engaging audiences and finding the key elements of a powerful story.

Role duties and responsibilities:

Storytelling

• Working with colleagues across Alert’s programming, identify projects that demonstrate the impact of our work and the need for peacebuilding in the countries where we work.
• Coordinate the development of impact stories, photo essays, videos and other engaging methods of storytelling for use on our website, on social media, by the press and elsewhere.
• Write and edit impact stories, photo essays and video scripts, and draft occasional press releases and blogs.
• Create or edit simple video content
• Commission photographers, photojournalists and videographers to accompany and support country teams in developing stories of impact.
• Manage the dissemination plans for storytelling outputs, including via traditional media, and digital platforms including social media.
• Monitor media coverage of the organisation and compile a daily digest of key news stories relating to peace and conflict for sharing with staff.
• Assist the Head of Communications and Media with monitoring the media email account and media phone, including out-of-hours media calls.
• Maintaining and advising on consent for stories and imagery
• Developing and maintaining an image library for Alert, including identifying gaps in the library and commissioning photography accordingly.

Publications

• Project manage the production of high-quality publications for teams in London and our overseas offices, including process management and supplier relations.
• Liaise with external vendors, including editors, translators, graphic designers, printers and photographers.
• Monitor production schedules to ensure that all publications are completed and signed off in a timely manner.
• Plan and co-ordinate the delivery and launch of publications.
• Draft key messages about our publications for the website, social media, newsletters, press releases and other channels.
• Lead on the procurement of suppliers, including recruiting new ones and managing the contracting process.
• Assist with the financial management of publications production by monitoring and processing invoices.

Events coordination

• Lead on the delivery of external corporate events (in-person and online), especially for the launch of new research. Appropriate support, resources and workload would be considered.
• Liaise with programme leads on developing outlines, key messages and briefings as required, with a particular focus on those in or organised by the Hague.

Quality control and branding

• Ensure all communications outputs comply with our brand identity, house style and quality standards.
• Manage and update our brand templates for publications and marketing materials and advise and train staff on how to use them.
• Create new brand templates for marketing materials as required, using Canva.

Contributing to the effective working of the team and to Alert generally

• Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of Alert’s influencing and communications strategies and work plans.
• Help maintain our content calendar and regularly update the team about upcoming content, to facilitate joined-up outreach.
• Monitor and post on our global social media channels when required
• Contribute to team-wide communications and knowledge management.
• Participate in organisation-wide events and discussions on related topics/projects as and when required.
• Any other tasks as may be reasonably required.

We are seeking an individual to undertake the role of Head of Major Gifts. The position requires you to grow and where possible exceed the Funds net income over the next five years. You will possess strong leadership skills, be responsible for setting and delivering on annual targets, leading and managing the Major Gifts teams. In addition, you will have the experience of formulating strategies and be able to demonstrate your track record of successful targets that have been exceeded or met.

The role is based in our London HQ, with a minimum of three days working in the office per week. The successful candidate for this role will need to be DBS checked and prove they have the right to work in the UK.

An exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing fundraising team and help shape our new fundraising campaign to improve patient care and reduce ill health across communities.

As Director of Development, you’ll lead our efforts to bring major donors, trusts/foundations and corporate partners into long term relationships of trust with the Royal College of Physicians. Your core responsibility will be to encourage and motivate the fundraising team, including line management of the Deputy Director for Corporate Partnerships and the Head of Philanthropy. You’ll also cultivate your own individual portfolio of international donors and find opportunities to engage face-to-face with prospective supporters at the major and principal gift level.

You’ll be trusted to work autonomously to develop and implement our fundraising strategy and work with our development board on planning for a new fundraising campaign, following the successful close of our £10 million Giving Health campaign. You will help achieve our strategic aim to increase our income from major gift fundraising and, depending on results, you’ll also have the opportunity to grow the size of the fundraising function.

You’ll report to and work closely with the CEO, Chief of Staff, and have the full support and involvement of the President, College Officers and Trustees.

Purpose and scope

Key responsibilities

• Shape the overall strategic goals of a new multi-year fundraising campaign and ensure that we deliver our ambitious income generation targets on an annual basis
• Work closely with the president, trustees, chief executive officer and other senior colleagues and volunteers to develop and implement the RCP's fundraising strategy
• Enhance our fundraising profile to highlight the contributions of donors and the impact of funded projects at all levels
• Refresh our fundraising comms strategy and produce high quality, in-depth digital and hardcopy materials
• Plan an annual programme of engagement between the President/CEO and international major gift prospects, including from the 20% of our membership based outside of the UK
• Facilitate the work of development committee members in advising on strategy, monitoring progress towards agreed targets, introducing new prospects, and helping with cultivation
• Support the development of fundraising skills among colleagues - both your direct reports, the Deputy Director for Corporate Partnerships and the Head of Philanthropy - and senior colleagues involved in making asks
• Maximise the fundraising potential of the RCP’s heritage collections and grow the fundraising income of our museum, archive, and library
• Ensure due diligence on prospective donors and adherence to internal processes and procedures for fundraising, reporting, financial management and information management
• Oversee the existing awards programme, which is administered by the development administrator

About you

• A proven track record of effective fundraising leadership
• Substantive major gift experience, including securing six figure gifts from either individuals, trusts/foundations or corporate partners
• Influencing and negotiating at the most senior levels externally and within an organisation; able to describe and communicate compelling propositions and to 'ask' for the gift
• Track record of developing a fundraising strategy over time, demonstrating innovation and creativity as well as knowledge and experience of successful programmes from peer organisations
• Highly developed stakeholder management skills with proven ability to create, develop and sustain trusted and effective relationships with major philanthropic partners and potential partners
• Highly developed networking skills to build and sustain a network of supporters for the RCP
• Track record of successful line management that builds and motivates a successful team
• Strong skill set in decision making, understanding complex environments, strategic thinking and an exceptional ability to communicate
• Strong organisational skills to maximise outcomes against multiple competing priorities
• Understanding of fundraising regulation and compliance

This is a permanent opportunity to join our Finance Team as an Accountant, working within a team of 4 Accountants, based in our Head Office, Birmingham.

As a Finance Team we are committed to working collaboratively and are looking for someone with great communication skills and who is a team player. 

Reporting into the Finance Business Support Manager, you will provide support to the 4 Finance Business Partners in delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting and planning for the Fund. Alongside this, you will provide support to colleagues to ensure there is cover across all processes in the Finance Team. The Fund pride themselves on developing individuals, this role allows for an Accountant or Finance Assistant who is part qualified and growing to be supported with the next step in their career. 

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Support the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting
• Support the key monthly reporting deliverables ensuring grants, salary, operating cost and headcount transactions are posted and recorded accurately in the Management Accounts
• Undertaking financial system reconciliations 
• Support the quarterly forecasting and the annual budget reporting
• Support the statutory year end reporting
• Review and improve current processes and reporting

We are looking for someone to manage the suite of YAW services, including Young Carers services, Splash, employability work, Youth Clubs Support and young people’s mental health programmes including BeMindful. You will oversee operations, plan, develop and implement a strategy for operational growth and development across Youth Action Wiltshire services. As Changing Lives Programme Coordinator, you will be supporting people with lived experience of homelessness to apply for grants which help them fulfil their employment goals. In addition, you will encourage members to access further wraparound support and assist with ongoing evaluation. The role is varied and exciting; you’ll be at the centre of working with and uniting our Crisis members, Skylight teams, and network of enterprise contacts towards creating fair access to opportunities for people with lived experience of homelessness.

Additionally, we’re committed to utilising our funding from Lloyds Bank to grow and innovate the programme. In your role you’ll have the opportunity to utilise your own expertise to bring in new ideas and transform the impact of the programme.

Skills, knowledge, and experience vital to succeeding in this role: 

To be successful in this role you will be inspired by delivering opportunities that remove barriers to employment and entrepreneurship, particularly for communities who are traditionally excluded from these opportunities. 

You should be an experienced programme coordinator and be confident in supporting people from a broad range of communities and experiences towards their goals. This role represents an opportunity for an experienced individual with the right talents to shape and develop the vision and strategy for the charity and the evolution of fundraising within the Trust.

We are looking for a fearless implementer of transformational change; an experienced and dynamic individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, experience of building brand and developing awareness. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate using a variety of media to promote and help our charity grow are a must.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Trust Charity will act as lead in all fundraising activities and, as such, will be a highly developed specialist in fundraising techniques. They will be expected to be pro-active in identifying and developing new opportunities in order to maximise appropriate charitable fundraising throughout the Trust. They will be the lead specialist on high profile fundraising appeals and, by sensitive and appropriate means, procure charitable income which meets agreed financial targets and timescales. This will require excellent communication, persuasion and negotiation skills.

The successful applicant will design, implement and manage an integrated business development and fundraising strategy comprising of high-net worth, corporate, trusts & foundation, social & impact investment, membership activity to agreed income & expenditure targets, utilising a range of fundraising products and methodologies which maximise cost benefit returns.

The post holder will make effective contribution to reaching the Trust charity’s vision and strategic objectives and raise the profile of the Charity both internally and externally within the trust and wider Alliance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact, and the Charity’s expert, for all new fundraising offers and initiatives to ensure that, before accepting them, such offers are appropriate for the hospital’s capital planning requirements, risk profile and public relations protocols.
• To develop the Trust Charity brand and corporate experience so that the charity becomes the preferred partner of choice for the donor community.
• To design, implement and manage capital and revenue appeals in support of major charity build projects to agreed income and activity targets, in association with appointed consultants.
• To ensure all activities are conducted in full compliance with charity law, fundraising legislation and best practice, data protection and compliance, adding value to and enhancing the Trust Charity brand.      
• Review and maintain appropriate fundraising policies and protocols which conform to the requirements of the hospital’s internal and external auditors, charity law, data protection and the Institute of Fundraising’s Code of Conduct.
• Act as key point of contact for NHS charities together, maintaining accurate contact details for the trust and ongoing membership.
• Build and maintain relationships with Charity leads in neighbouring trusts and other NHS organisations.
• To develop a Trust Charity communications plan, which involves both internal and external communications to facilitate the efficient working of the Charity, utilising all media to further develop the Trust Charity brand.
• The post holder will be required to use their gravitas and specialist expertise to influence a range of senior colleagues on a wide range of complex communications issues.
• To establish and maintain effective cooperative working relationships with all stakeholder groups, internally and externally, at all levels.
• To develop, implement and oversee the Trust Charity annual grant application programme ensuring an equitable and transparent process which supports and empowers those clinicians/managers/staff that apply for funding.
• To assemble and publish an annual impact report which notes funds dispersed and the impacts upon users including health economic indicators.
•  To oversee the publication of monthly management accounts and of quarterly financial reports to the Charitable Appeal Committee.
• Be a participative member of the Charitable Funds Committee, including the preparation of reports and briefings.
• Advise the Charitable Funds Committee on all matters pertaining to fundraising activities, fundraising schedules and budgets and spending plans of individual funds.
• Through the Charitable Funds Committee, build a working relationship with the Clinical Divisions, key departments and individuals within the Trust.
• Build a good understanding of local healthcare delivery issues, priorities and plans, including central capital and business planning and make judgements on what options are appropriate for fundraising appeals.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and collaborative fundraising manager to lead our small fundraising team at Ely Cathedral. This post plays a significant role in sustaining and developing the income the Cathedral needs, adhering to the highest ethical standards and in line with the law and good practice.

Duties include nurturing and managing existing relationships with supporters and donors and developing new income streams using a range of approaches, ensuring that these are integrated sensitively, with the mission and work of the Cathedral in mind.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in fundraising from a variety of sources in a small or medium-sized charity setting, experience of managing others, and have experience of raising funds for capital projects between £100,000 and £2million.

Experience of fundraising within a church setting or the heritage sector, possession of a fundraising qualification from a recognised body such as the Institute of Fundraising, and experience of leading a step-change in the income raised by a fundraising team are not essential but would be an advantage.
