About the role

We are seeking a Participant Engagement Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, the chosen candidate will work with our member companies to maximise the impact of our programmes, driving sustainable business operations and enhancing the value they receive from their UN Global Compact participation.

The position will manage and keep track of the priorities, needs and challenges of our participating companies and ensure our offerings remain relevant and impactful for them by collaborating with our programme teams.

This role will exist alongside another individual working collectively to fulfil the responsibilities outlined below. The workload will be shared, ensuring a balanced distribution of tasks.

The Participant Engagement Manager will report to the Head of Operations and Participant Engagement. We offer a flexible hybrid working environment, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.

Who we are looking for:

• Someone excited about our mission, sustainability, and the pivotal role business can play in overcoming the environmental and social challenges the world is facing. Understanding business interests and the ability to promote our unique value proposition will be key to boosting engagement with our programmes.

• An effective communicator with a customer-focused mindset. You will engage regularly through email exchanges, calls, and meetings with representatives from participating businesses to build and nurture strong relationships with them and ensure high levels of engagement. Your ability to listen to their needs and provide relevant and timely support will be key.

• An experienced professional with a track record in account management, business development, or a similar role. Familiarity with Salesforce and Asana is highly desirable.

• Someone with experience working with SMEs would be highly desirable.

• Someone who is an organised team player, who enjoys collaboration and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

• A proactive and adaptable individual who is ready to take on a variety of activities and rapidly gain responsibility as the Network’s team, programmes and members are constantly evolving.

In your first 6 months:

To help you settle quickly, we will provide a thorough and comprehensive onboarding. Through meetings with key colleagues and online training, we will help you to become familiar with our way of working and our value proposition.

Key Responsibilities - after onboarding, we will expect you to:

• Take the lead in planning and delivering our monthly members’ breakfasts, initially with support from your line manager.

• Support the team in organising and delivering our annual Kick-off event, taking place in January.

• Support the team in organising and delivering our Annual General Meeting, taking place in June.

• Contribute to implementing our Light Key Account Management (KAM) plan by responding to participant queries, catering to their needs as well as scheduling, joining, and eventually leading calls with a subset of our participating companies to nurture strong relationships with them and ensure high engagement.

• Oversee onboarding of new participants and deliver regular onboarding webinars.

• Be the main contact point for Communication on Progress matters. This includes supporting participants with their submissions but also engaging with our global team to stay informed about/provide feedback on updates to the CoP.

• Develop and launch an SME Buddy Network to help connect SME participants and give them an opportunity to ask questions specific to their needs in a 'safe environment'.

• Coordinate engagement around high-level events organised by the global team including the Leaders Summit, Private Sector Forum, and COPs.

• Track priorities, needs, and challenges of participants and collaborate with the team to ensure our offerings remain relevant.

• Measure participant engagement levels and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Job Overview

The Corporate and Community Fundraiser will play a pivotal role in raising vital funds to sustain and grow our services across Berkshire. This individual will be responsible for engaging with corporate partners, local businesses, and community groups to secure donations, sponsorships, and partnerships. The position is suited for a dynamic, outgoing professional with a passion for social causes and a talent for building relationships.

Corporate Partnerships:

· Identify, develop, and manage relationships with corporate partners, ensuring long-term engagement and funding.

· Research and secure sponsorships, corporate donations, and employee fundraising initiatives.

· Work with CEO to develop proposals and pitch to potential corporate partners.

· Create and manage a corporate fundraising strategy, ensuring clear targets and KPIs.

Community Engagement:

· Build relationships with local businesses, schools, and community groups to generate support.

· Organise community fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring they align with the charity’s mission and goals.

· Recruit, train, and manage community fundraising volunteers.

· Deliver talks and presentations to community groups to raise awareness about the charity’s work.

· Provide excellent stewardship and recognition to our donors and partners, ensuring that they feel valued and appreciated

Event Planning & Management:

· Plan, coordinate, and manage fundraising events such as charity dinners, community challenges and volunteer-driven initiatives considering ROI.

· Oversee all aspects of event logistics including budgeting, marketing, venue management, and volunteer coordination.

· Ensure events meet financial targets, are executed smoothly, and leave a lasting positive impact on attendees and supporters.

Campaign Management:

· Develop and implement effective fundraising campaigns, utilising external agencies when appropriate, both online and offline.

· Ensure all campaigns have appropriate marketing and communication plans in place.

· Monitor and report on the success of campaigns, ensuring financial and non-financial targets are met.

Digital Marketing & Fundraising:

· Drive online fundraising initiatives using digital platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and the charity’s website.

· Develop social media campaigns to raise awareness of fundraising efforts and increase donor engagement.

·         Alongside external agency, update and optimise the charity’s website for donor engagement and online giving.

· Collaborate with the CEO and Support Services Manager to create content that enhances the charity’s digital presence and supports fundraising goals.

Fundraising Software Management:

· Manage the Donorfy fundraising CRM to track donor interactions, donations, and partnerships.

· Maintain accurate records of donor activity and ensure compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations.

· Use Donorfy’s reporting tools to analyse fundraising performance, trends, and areas for growth.

· Provide training to colleagues on how to use Donorfy effectively, if necessary.

Budget and Reporting:

· Develop and manage a fundraising budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

· Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, income generated, and future plans for the CEO and Trustees.

General

 Person Specification

Essential:

· Eligible to live and work in the UK

· Full driving licence and use of vehicle with business insurance

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on corporate and community fundraising.

· Proven experience in planning and managing events, from small community fundraisers to large-scale corporate events.

· Strong knowledge of digital marketing and online fundraising strategies via platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and websites.

· Experience using Donorfy or similar fundraising CRM software to track donations and manage donor relations.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

· Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· A passion for the charity sector and a commitment to supporting young people facing homelessness or leaving care.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable:

· Experience working in the youth or homelessness charity sector.

· Familiarity with CRM systems and digital fundraising tools.

· Event management experience.

About this role

This new role, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, is an exciting opportunity to join our team who have been supporting adults with learning disabilities for almost 40 years. As we look to the future, we need to consider new opportunities to build partnerships and collaborations to build a strong, resilient network of third-sector organisations in Swindon and the surrounding area.

Main responsibilities

• Work with the trustees, staff, volunteers and members to develop and deliver against a Strategic Business Plan.

• To act as the lead relationship manager with partners on behalf of The Open Door Centre.

• Take responsibility for diversifying fundraising, grants and income streams in line with the strategy and business development plan, be proactive in developing new leads and connections.
• Explore and develop joint grant bids by liaising with external partners to support grant applications that align with our strategic aims.
• Develop, monitor and maintain key systems and processes, such as effective funder reporting and review meetings, and monitoring and reporting on fundraising KPIs.

Skills, competencies and experience

1. Skills and experience in third sector fundraising, preferably including corporate fundraising, funder reporting and grants and confidence in identifying and developing new opportunities.
2. A demonstrable proactive approach to engaging with new and existing funders to set up and develop lasting relationships.
3. Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals/grant applications and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact.
4. A skilled communicator (verbal and written) who can gather information and enthuse individuals both internally and externally.
5. The ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
6. Excellent organisational skills with firm understanding of KPIs, targets, budgeting, and risk mitigation plans.

8. IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet and social media.

This post will be a hybrid role with some time spent in the Centre in Gorse Hill, Swindon, some remote work, and attendance at meetings and events in the Swindon area - this could include evenings and weekends.
