The Directoe of Fundraising and Communiations will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Foundation’s 2023 – 2026 Ready for Business organisational strategy and our ambition to reach one million women entrepreneurs by 2030, significantly scaling income generation and building the Foundation’s profile. The postholder will be a member of the Foundation’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), along with the CEO, COO, Director of Programmes and Impact, and Finance Director.
We are seeking an individual who will excel at bringing creative and ambitious growth plans to life and has strong leadership and communications skills. The Director of Fundraising and Communications will have significant multi-income stream experience and will lead the development of a new income generation strategy to drive fundraising activities across philanthropic donors, corporates, family offices, foundations and institutional funding, maximising ROI and creating a sustainable organisation. You will continue to build the profile of the Foundation with key audiences, managing the Foundation’s brand and reputation and positioning the organisation as global experts in women’s entrepreneurship.

Key information:

Salary: Between £30,000 – £33,000 a year depending on experience.

Job Purpose
To maximise income for Village Water’s work from corporates (UK and International) & to develop and manage your own portfolio of existing corporates and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on networking, delivering compelling pitches to corporates, organise and support corporate fundraising events, preparing high-quality funding applications and reports, providing exceptional account management, and fostering cross-team collaboration.
Responsibilities
Corporate Fundraising

Develop, implement, and sustain a dynamic corporate fundraising portfolio, maintaining a well-organised pipeline of funding opportunities.

Attend and contribute to networking events, while actively organising events to foster relationships with new and existing corporate donors.

Identify and pursue corporate funding opportunities by aligning proposals with companies' ESG policies, emphasising shared values and potential partnerships.

Establish and nurture relationships with Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) to unlock new support avenues.

Work closely with colleagues to develop compelling proposals and reports that effectively communicate the organisation's impact and funding needs.

Coordinate with monitoring and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, adhering to grant conditions and budget requirements.

Maintain precise and well-managed donor information in the organisation’s database to facilitate efficient tracking and follow-up.

Organise pop-up events for and with corporate partners to enhance engagement and visibility.

Support fundraising team with social media content ideas that highlight our activities and showcases the impact.
General

Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals.

Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings.

Provide assistance for other fundraising initiatives as needed, promoting a collaborative work environment and supporting the overall fundraising efforts of the organisation.

Ensure compliance with the organisation's safeguarding policies by completing all required training.
Skills and experience:

Demonstrated ability to secure funds from new corporate partners, with experience in winning awards exceeding £10,000.

Confident and skilled in delivering presentations to a diverse range of supporters, whether in groups, individually, in person, or remotely.

Proven experience in crafting persuasive cases for support and donor updates that motivate giving.

Expertise in building and maintaining strong donor relationships to ensure sustained support.

Strong writing skills for creating compelling cases for support and effectively presenting the organisation’s work to potential donors.

Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information.

Proficient in using databases for fundraising performance analysis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily administrative operations of the London office, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.

- Manage phone calls, emails, letters, packages, calendars, and travel arrangements for staff.

- Organise and coordinate logistics for office events, such as staff training days and HR Network events.

The successful candidate must have or be:

•Sound understanding and proven experience of HR processes, including but not limited to, change management, organisational development, ER case work, resourcing, compensation and benefits, policy development
•Proven experience of HR business partnering and substantial skills and experience of HR management at a senior level within in a large organisation

•Proven ability and experience in people and activity management as well as delegating roles and authority in a way in which enables teams to reach their targets/objectives
•Proven experience of developing and implementing strategies and work plans which help to deliver the wider organisational objectives

•Demonstrable experience in consultative team approaches to decision-making and innovation which motivates and drives teams forward
•Proven ability and experience in analysing data which enables sound conclusions and recommendations to be drawn to work in a way which always considers long-term goals whilst maintaining an overview of its immediate situation
•Track record of working in partnership with senior leadership teams, based on a coaching approach
• Up-to-date knowledge of current employment legislation, awareness of forthcoming employment legislation
•High level of competence in all aspects of managing employee relations
•Sound financial and time management which enables strategic goals to be achieved within budgetary constraints
•Ability and motivation to travel within UK and internationally if required

The Head of Finance is a new role which supports the growth of the global finance team in line with the rapid organisational growth and spread internationally. The Head of Finance role shall provide financial leadership, alongside the CFO, through proactive engagement with each business unit vertical, robust support, monitoring and challenge of financial decision-making in context of plans and strategic directives informing key decisions across the Global Organisation.

We are a high-profile non-profit organisation and trade association leading the international clean energy transition as the world seeks to stay within 1.5c global warming target. We have innovative programmes and collaborations promoting sustainable offshore and onshore wind development, mentoring women working in wind industry, education and energy access.
GWEC are a Belgium registered association with subsidiary companies and offices in the UK, India, China, Portugal, Singapore, UAE and Vietnam and a global staff of around 75. We have grown our revenue five times in as many years and have bold growth plans over the next decade as we seek the urgent scale up of wind and clean energy in new and existing markets. We have over 20 live grants of up to $4m in value to support our work, particularly in the regional focus markets such as Southeast Asia.
The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:
- Prepare annual global organisation budgets by entity, business unit and project.
- Prepare multi-year forecasts and financial plans built on known and likely projects, activities, expected growth and blue-sky scenarios.
- Prepare regular financial performance reports for the Executive Committee and Board.
- Have critical oversight of the global results consolidation.
- Lead the Global Finance team with 3 direct reports and outsourced local relationships for each office jurisdiction.
- Prepare quarterly global and entity forecasts and supervise cashflow.
- Hold oversight of global fiscal and tax compliance.
- Plan, forecast and monitor recovery of funds from grant funded projects.
- Promote the visibility of financial data and outputs to stakeholders through continuous improvement and integration of finance and related systems and processes.
- Deputise for the CFO on Financial matters at Senior Management Team and Executive Committee meetings as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified as an Accountant: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
- Non-profit experience, particularly with grants and project financial reporting.
- International experience – ideally at HQ group level (non-profit or commercial) demonstrating an understanding of cultural and logistical challenges.
- Excellent FP&A experience, including modelling, budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience of managing a finance team.
- Experience providing a proactive partnering role to business operations, especially in ensuring achievement of budgets
- The willingness to travel internationally to other GWEC offices on an infrequent basis.
