An exciting opportunity exists for a Communications Officer to join the team. As Communications Officer, you will support increased revenue and showcase the impact of the charity’s programmes and their stories of partnership with funders and structures in the countries where the charity work. This is a part-time (3 days per week), permanent role, home based within the UK with some potential international travel. £19,200 per annum for 3 days work per week.

Who are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a communications role (or related field) along with excellent written skills. You will be working to develop press releases and build relations with relevant contacts and journalists and as such we require excellent communication and networking skills. You will have a strong track record of delivering engaging social media content across different channels and audiences to support organisational priorities. Experience of using creative software such as Illustrator, Premiere, Canva and Photoshop will be an advantage as well as possessing basic video editing skills. Knowledge of and experience of working with international non-profits or a comparable organisation or knowledge of issues linked to the charity’s work in either the waste management, environmental and climate change would be highly desirable however it is not essential for the role.

About you  

The successful candidate will be employed by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s host organisation. The new team member will be pivotal in the delivery of the Peatland Programme’s objectives to champion peatland values. They will have the level of knowledge and experience to drive forward and promote peatland restoration in the UK and be able to advocate the multiple benefits of peatlands through partnerships, strong science, sound policy and effective practice, and communication.  

They are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Communications and Engagement Lead to drive and deliver the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s communications activity to promote the benefits of healthy peatlands to a national audience. This will be done primarily through establishing and maintaining good relationships with external contacts and partners and using these networks to identify opportunities and to build the Programme’s reach. You will lead the production of communications materials through design and appropriate messaging, assist their advocacy work, and plan and deliver events such as online workshops and their annual conference.  

They are looking for someone who is passionate about communicating peatlands to a wide audience and is creative and proactive in their approach. The peatland agenda has expanded exponentially over the last 10 years and you will need to be an excellent team player and networker to capture what is happening and communicate this to multiple partners and stakeholders. The Communications and Engagement Lead post is a standalone communications post within a small team (9 people) and your ability to quickly develop good relationships with partner organisations will be critical to your success in the role. 

You will be lead on the delivery of the communications strand of the Peatland Programme’s activity. You should have experience of designing publications, creating digital content, newsletters, running stakeholder events and managing social media accounts. You will support the wider Peatland Programme team in networking, identifying opportunities for collaboration, as well as in the production of resources such as briefings and web content.

The TSA is seeking a highly experienced, confident and capable Head of Fundraising to provide leadership and direction on all aspects of income generation. The charity has gone from strength to strength over the last 24 months, including income generation, and we are looking for an experienced fundraising professional to continue this amazing work.  

Working closely with the TSA’s Joint Chief Executives, you’ll join the Senior Management Team and will be expected to successfully implement our new three-year fundraising strategy, which aims to diversify and raise income in a sensible yet ambitious way.

Head of Fundraising responsibilities 

Strategic, leadership and management 

• Provide leadership for fundraising and income generation across the TSA team. Attend regular strategy meetings and be a leading voice in shaping the TSA’s income generation activities 

• Lead in the development, implementation and review of fundraising polices and strategy ensuring they are in line with the overall organisation business plan 

• Provide line management for the Fundraising Manager and Grants and Trusts Manager, including regular meetings and ensuring that the fundraising team are fulfilling all areas of their roles, meeting agreed KPI’s and achieving set income targets 

• Lead on the annual business planning and budget cycle for the income generation 

• Effectively collect and analyse data to demonstrate income trends, the impact of fundraising and income generation. Use this data to inform quarterly reports to the Board of Trustees, determine the impact of the team’s work and drive continual improvements in policy and practice 

• Attend and actively contribute to weekly TSA team meetings 

Income Generation and partnership 

• Lead on all income generation activities, with a focus on developing new fundraising initiatives for corporate giving, major donor fundraising, legacy giving and TSA appeals 

• Develop and deliver short and long-term fundraising and partnership strategy for the TSA. Ensure that the TSA has a balanced portfolio, and the fundraising team successfully delivers income across multiple streams

• Working closely with the Joint Chief Executives and Grants and Trusts Manager, expand the TSA’s range of research funding sources to include public, academic, commercial and innovation funding alongside investment from the TSA itself 

• Accurately forecast and monitor against income generation targets 

• Identify opportunities to work with partners on areas of common interest where the TSA can achieve more through joint funding, gifts in kind (such as time or services) or delivering joint projects than the charity could do by working alone 

• Ensure the TSA’s fundraising policies, procedures are up to date and that all fundraising activities comply with law and the Fundraising Regulator guidelines 

• Continue to maintain established, and develop new relationships with potential fundraising supporters and partners across all sectors 

Marketing and communications responsibilities 

• Work closely with the communications team to develop inspiring fundraising campaigns, appeals, cases for support and content for distribution across all digital platforms,including social media, e-newsletters and Scan magazine, website and fundraising platforms 

• Continue to strengthen our supporter engagement plans to identify and build excellent working relationships that leads to increase income 

General responsibilities 

• Adhere to all TSA policies, procedures, values and behaviours 

• Comply with all internal and external Health and Safety requirements and complete Risk Assessments as appropriate 

• Work as part of a small fundraising team, you will enjoy taking on new challenges and happy to work flexibly as the TSA continues to develop and grow

Job Purpose  

To develop and manage your own portfolio of existing trusts, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on producing high-quality applications and reports to funders and by providing excellent account management and cross-team collaboration.     

Responsibilities  

Trust Fundraising  

• Develop, manage, and maintain a trust fundraising portfolio with a clear, scheduled pipeline of funding applications, coordinating opportunities and team resources to meet targets. 

• Cultivate strong working relationships with current and new trust and foundations, proactively seeking meetings. 

• Collaborate with colleagues to create compelling proposals and reports. 

• Work with monitoring and finance colleagues to inform impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely reporting to donors in line with their grant conditions. 

• Build resilient, long-term relationships with identified supporters, keeping them well-informed about events, campaigns, projects, and the charity itself, to foster a strong sense of belonging to Village Water. 

• Use multiple research methods and communication channels to build and manage a prospective donor pipeline. 

• Research and write applications to grant-making trusts, targeting an amount in line with Village Water's annual budget, with an emphasis on securing unrestricted funds where possible. 

• Maintain legacy communications and promote legacy options to our long-standing supporters. 

• Ensure all information on your portfolio of donors is well stewarded, recorded, and actioned in Village Water's database. 

• Develop ad-hoc events and campaigns both in person and via Zoom, recruiting and managing volunteers where necessary. 

• Send personalised thank-you communications and updates to individual supporters, manage ongoing engagement with regular donors, and oversee the distribution of physical milestone cards to celebrate significant achievements. 

• Support fundraising team with social media content ideas that highlight our activities and showcases the impact.

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals. 

• Attend networking events and build relationships that benefit Village Water. 

• Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings. 

• Provide assistance for other fundraising initiatives as needed, promoting a collaborative work environment and supporting the overall fundraising efforts of the organisation.

Skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable success in securing grants, including awards between £20-£100k. 

• Confident and effective communicator with excellent presentation skills, able to engage with a range of supporters in groups, individually, face-to-face, and remotely. 

• Proven experience in writing compelling cases for support and supporter updates that inspire and persuade donors. 

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information. 

• Strong database skills, including experience in fundraising performance analysis.

The Talent Set are delighted to be working with a fantastic charity supporting young unaccompanied refugees in England who are looking for an Interim Head of Fundraising & Communications to join their team for an initial 6 months period.

The Head of Fundraising & Communications will operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO and acting as the strategic lead for the charity’s fundraising and communications activity.

Given the fluctuating nature of statutory income (currently c.75% of total income) it will be the responsibility of the Head of Fundraising & Communications to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to diversify its income portfolio, ensuring a sustainable funding model that spreads risk and allows for greater donor engagement.

There is a blank canvas to be creative and try new things, with lots of scope for the successful applicant to determine where the network opportunities might lie, build long term relationships and develop an exciting programme of external communications and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of organisational objectives.
• Develop, lead and deliver the fundraising strategy – focused on diversification and sustainable income whilst remaining hands on in the establishment of new income streams.
• Establish clear stewardship plans for all supporters, maximising their engagement with the charity.
• Develop and implement the communications strategy – utilising external comms to engage supporters and underpin income generation whilst raising awareness about the issues faced by unaccompanied child refugees.
• Oversee the generation of tailored, multimedia content that raises awareness of the charity and drives increased support.

Person Specification:

• Aligned with the charity's values of: Respect, Integrity, Passion, Grace, Compassion and Wisdom.
• Proven expertise of fundraising across different income streams (e.g. trusts and foundations, community, regional, philanthropy). Expertise of developing new income streams from scratch/a low base would be beneficial but not essential.
• Relational approach – focused on developing long term commitments and support from key stakeholders and donor audiences.
• Experience of working in a communications role/closely with communications teams to maximise the opportunities to engage externally and increase support/awareness.
• Creative approach to fundraising, with realistic ambitions within a small charity environment.

What’s on offer:

• An initial 6 month contract with the potential for extension
• A flexible hybrid or remote working pattern, although some travel around the midlands area for the role is required. (please note you must have the right to work within the UK).
• A salary of £45,000 is on offer

Key information:  

Location: Remote working. (UK only) Must be able to attend a minimum of 5 mandatory meetings per year (includes overnight stay for 2-day meetings) at our office in Shrewsbury and occasional meetings elsewhere.

Job Purpose  

To maximise income for Village Water’s work from corporates (UK and International) & to develop and manage your own portfolio of existing corporates and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on networking, delivering compelling pitches to corporates, organise and support corporate fundraising events, preparing high-quality funding applications and reports, providing exceptional account management, and fostering cross-team collaboration. 

Responsibilities  

Corporate Fundraising 

• Develop, implement, and sustain a dynamic corporate fundraising portfolio, maintaining a well-organised pipeline of funding opportunities. 

• Attend and contribute to networking events, while actively organising events to foster relationships with new and existing corporate donors. 

• Identify and pursue corporate funding opportunities by aligning proposals with companies' ESG policies, emphasising shared values and potential partnerships. 

• Establish and nurture relationships with Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) to unlock new support avenues. 

• Work closely with colleagues to develop compelling proposals and reports that effectively communicate the organisation's impact and funding needs. 

• Coordinate with monitoring and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, adhering to grant conditions and budget requirements. 

• Maintain precise and well-managed donor information in the organisation’s database to facilitate efficient tracking and follow-up. 

• Organise pop-up events for and with corporate partners to enhance engagement and visibility. 

• Support fundraising team with social media content ideas that highlight our activities and showcases the impact. 

General   

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals. 

• Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings. 

• Provide assistance for other fundraising initiatives as needed, promoting a collaborative work environment and supporting the overall fundraising efforts of the organisation. 

• Ensure compliance with the organisation's safeguarding policies by completing all required training. 

Skills and experience: 

• Demonstrated ability to secure funds from new corporate partners, with experience in winning awards exceeding £10,000. 

• Confident and skilled in delivering presentations to a diverse range of supporters, whether in groups, individually, in person, or remotely. 

• Proven experience in crafting persuasive cases for support and donor updates that motivate giving. 

• Expertise in building and maintaining strong donor relationships to ensure sustained support. 

• Strong writing skills for creating compelling cases for support and effectively presenting the organisation’s work to potential donors. 

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information. 

• Proficient in using databases for fundraising performance analysis.

• Job purpose: To help grow unrestricted income for Health Poverty Action through community and corporate partnerships. 
• Location: Home-based, within commuting distance to London for events and meetings. 
• Salary: £26,095 rising in length of service increments to £29,832. 
• Responsible to: Head of Fundraising 
• Annual leave: 25 days per year, plus the time between Christmas and New Year, plus bank holidays.

Your key responsibilities will be flexible. You’ll manage your workload and set objectives, priorities and deadlines with the Head of Fundraising. Your work will include: 

• Partnerships Fundraising: You’ll lead and grow our partnerships fundraising portfolio by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new prospective partnerships. You will prepare proposals, pitches, and reports based on key funding needs, and implement stewardship plans to retain support, maximising partnership value. 

• Community Fundraising: You’ll manage community-based fundraising efforts, including coordinating with other organisations. Develop new community fundraising initiatives and engage volunteers, working to maintain an established network of volunteers which support community fundraising activities.

• Events Fundraising: You will manage our fundraising events, including the London Marathon. This will include recruitment, resourcing, relationship-building and supporting our event participants in their fundraising efforts. We are also excited for you to develop and oversee other innovative and profitable one-off events. 

• Fundraising Management: You will monitor and report on fundraising activities, manage relevant website pages, and ensure effective administration and record-keeping. You’ll need to stay abreast of industry trends and react accordingly to maximize opportunities.
