Our aims 

Popham Kidney Support (PKS) provides children, youths and adults with kidney disease and their families in Wales with a better quality of life by improving their emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing and improve their knowledge through education. 

Role summary 

Our Charity Champions are passionate individuals who are committed to supporting PKS. You will work alongside the PKS Team to support the charity, raising money in your area, identify new fundraising opportunities and raise awareness of PKS and their Services. 

Role description 

Charity Champions represent PKS in their local area. There are various ways to do this, and the role is flexible, so you are free to pick and choose which activities appeal to you. Here are some examples of activities Charity Champions do: 

• Attending cheque presentation events as a representative of PKS
• Attending community events as a representative of PKS
• Attending organised walking, running, and cycling events to cheer on people taking part for PKS.
• Organising your own fundraising activities e.g. bucket collections, cake sales or raffles 
• Supporting PKS fundraising and/or awareness events e.g. bucket collections, festivals ro regional shows etc
• Providing information in your local area about the support PKS provides e.g. putting information leaflets in local GP surgeries, supermarkets or posters on community notice boards 
• Holding awareness stands at community events. 
• Taking part in or encouraging others to get involved in fundraising events throughout the year 
• Supporting social media campaigns by sharing content with your network 
• Delivering talks about the work of the charity and the importance of fundraising 
• Promoting PKS within your own network and encouraging more people to fundraise for us 

Person specification 

• We welcome applicants with different skills and experience – however it is essential that you are passionate about PKS and supporting the work that we do to help patients and families face kidney disease. Below are some of the attributes we look for in Popham Community Champions:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills 
• An ability to recognise and follow up on opportunities in your community and through your own networks 
• Flexibility 
• Organisational skills 
• Positive outlook 
• Willing to complete paperwork such as expenses forms and keeping track of what activity you have done 
• Ability to travel around your local area (within reason). A clean driver’s licence is advantageous but not essential. 
• Good presentation and public speaking skills 
• Friendly and approachable 
• All Charity Champions must abide by PKS values and agree to our policies and procedures 

Time commitment 

Time can be as little or as much as you can give. We ask that all Popham Charity Champions complete an induction (either face to face or virtually) and be happy to attend regular meetups with other volunteers in their region if they are available. Once the induction is complete you will receive volunteer clothing, ID badge and pack and we will inform you of all our volunteering opportunities. If you have more time and would like to organise events, collections or find out what is going on in your area, we will provide you with the tools to support you in your efforts.

We’re looking for cat-loving volunteers to play a vital role in helping us improve the
wellbeing of the cats and kittens in our care whilst they wait to be rehomed. Can you
help them by providing a calm and caring home whilst we find their purrfect forever
home?

As a cat fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA branch in providing our cats with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you
will play a crucial role in a cat’s wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.
Once everything is in place, the animal centre will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your fostered cat.  The RSPCA branch is also happy to reimburse any other pre-agreed expenses that you may incur through volunteering for us.

Whilst our cats are in your foster care, you will:

•  Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.
•  Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.
• Transport them to any veterinary appointments if required. 
• Provide them with your time and patience.
•  Help us spread the word about the cats in your care so they might find their forever home quicker.
•  Playing and cuddles are also a must!

What we are looking for in a volunteer Cat Fosterer:

•  Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for cats.
•  Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.
•  For their wellbeing, our cats need to be kept in a separate room, so the whole family should be on board.
• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).
• They also need to be up to date with their vaccinations.

About NWR

NWR (National Women’s Register) is a membership charity combating social isolation in older women.  Our members often join after a significant life event – moving house, empty nest, retirement or bereavement. Our aim is to help our members connect via in-person and on-line meet-ups, activities and events. We have 315 local groups across the UK and are looking for helpful, friendly volunteers to help us set up more. 

What will I be doing?

This voluntary role requires 3-4 hours commitment per month, for 3-6 months, helping the friendly and supportive NWR Head Office team to set up new local groups in your area. This involves:

• Liaising with HO team to establish best location for new group 

• Advising the HO team on a suitable venue and time for the first meeting (coffee shop/pub/hall)

• Helping the HO team to promote the group/meet-ups to local community Facebook groups (we will provide all marketing content) 

• Hosting the initial meetings – we can provide you icebreaker topics and any support you need. Helping everyone to feel welcome and included.

RSPCA SOUTH WEST SOMERSET BRANCH

Job description

Overview of the Branch Trustee opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person who could devote the time to volunteer with us as one of our Trustees.  As a Trustee of the Branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. You will serve on the governing body of the charity and be instrumental in the running of the Branch and setting out both the short and long terms aims.

A a minimum, Trustees would normally be expected to attend a committee meeting every 4-6 weeks in the evenings, usually lasting up to 2 hours and the annual general meeting.  However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the Trustee takes on additional duties.

We are happy to take applications from outside the branch catchment area, as long as you are able to join meetings by electronic means such as Zoom, and are willing to travel to in person meetings a couple of times a year.

The RSPCA South West Somerset Branch

The RSPCA South West Somerset Branch is one of the branches of the RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of the RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of the RSPCA.

The RSPCA South West Somerset Branch runs charity shops in Taunton, Wellington, Chard and Bridgwater.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee

• Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.

• Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.

• Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS).

• In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Partnership Manager write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out the short and long term aims of your branch.

• Actively participate in branch committee meetings and to attend the branch annual general meeting.

• Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support local initiatives.

• Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members.

Branch Trustee – Fundraising

Do you have previous fundraising experience? If you do or are good at coordinating and organising events, we are looking for volunteer trustees to help us manage our fundraising activities so we can raise essential funds to improve animal welfare. 

Overview of the opportunity

As Branch Trustee Fundraising Coordinator, you will act as the central contact point for all branch fundraising activities and maintain momentum for the fundraising programme of your branch. You will have fun meeting new people, helping to recruit new volunteers and organising, and attending local events.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

The RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch

The RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee Fundraising Coordinator

•  Produce a fundraising plan and budget.
•  Identify fundraising roles and help recruit volunteers to fill them. 
• Liaise with the Volunteer Coordinator and establish and maintain a database of fundraising supporters and volunteers. 
• Identify potential sources of income to be explored.
• Organise fundraising events.

• Produce monthly update reports for the Branch Trustees.
•  Ensure all fundraising activities and events are risk assessed and carried out safely and legally, including complying with data protection regulations and gift aid procedures.

Core Branch Trustee responsibilities

•  Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
•  Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.
• Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS).
• In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Partnership Manager write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out the short and long term aims of your branch.
• Actively participate in branch committee meetings and to attend the branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
• Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support regional initiatives.
• Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members.
•  In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch if applicable.

Practical considerations

• Please also note that to become a Trustee, you will need to be aged 18 or over and a member of our branch for three months before you are eligible to be elected.
• Trustees are elected for a 12-month term each year.
• Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
•  Trustees must sign a Trustee Declaration of Willingness to Act to clarify that they are not disqualified from being a trustee and read the Charity Commission’s guidance for individuals on who cannot be a trustee or senior manager of a charity.
• References will also be required.

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the Bradford and District Group. As our local group Activities Organiser you’ll play a crucial role in developing and planning activities and events with your local group. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills. 

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person, with a background in health and safety, who could devote their time to volunteer with us as one of our trustees at our Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch. This role will give you the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a  committee meeting every other month lasting 2 hours either in person or virtually (can alternate). However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee - Health and Safety

•  To act as the branch committee member with specific responsibility for informing co-trustees, branch  volunteers, and staff on health and safety matters relating to branch activities, and to assist with the implementation of good health and safety practices.
• Liaise with the branch manager regarding the implementation of any new health and safety guidelines from the Society, or the branch’s health and safety provider.
• Work with staff managers to ensure that the required staff training on health and safety is carried out.
• Ensure that health & safety risk assessments including manual handling, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations), and fire is carried out and reviewed annually.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality audio and video content that highlights our programs, events, and community. You will work closely with the Podcast Lead, Videographer, and other team members to create content that aligns with our brand voice and mission.

Key tasks

• Podcast Production – Oversee planning, execution, and production of high-quality, engaging podcast episodes.
• Videography – Oversee planning, execution, and production of videos for various purposes, including promotional content, event coverage, and educational materials.
• Visual Content Management – Develop a video brand identity that is visually appealing and aligned with Roots Academy’s branding and messaging.
• Content Strategy – Collaborate with the marketing team to develop a content calendar for podcasts and videos.
• Outsourcing – collaborating with external agencies when and if needed to manage video content requirements.
• Team Management – Work closely with the Podcast Lead and Videographer to ensure a cohesive approach to content creation and distribution.

• Proven experience in podcast production and videography.
