Trusts and Foundations Manager
This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations.
In addition, the role will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships for the DEC through thorough research, and through the prospect development cycle, to raise money for DEC appeals. In addition to appeal fundraising, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for delivering on a new core cost fundraising strategy, in close partnership with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships.
Demonstrable, transferable trusts and foundations experience and knowledge, (preferably within the humanitarian & charity sector), will hold you in good stead for this exciting new role.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Development: Develop and manage the trusts and foundations portfolio and create compelling proposals for future appeals and core costs income. Showcase new ideas and innovative approaches for growing and developing a pipeline of new prospects. Develop engaging stewardship plans.
Administrative Compliance: Lead and manage, robust and professional grant management, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose, streamlined and accessible. Remain compliant with grant terms and conditions, ensuring you are clearly communicating the unique contours of the DEC model whilst providing comprehensive and inspiring impact reporting.
Relationship Management: Maintain regular contact and collaboration with internal teams to collate a high-quality suite of communication materials and stewardship plans specific to a trust and foundation audience. Proactively reach out and build long-lasting relationships with funders to reach ambitious fundraising targets.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, measure and evaluate progress against the DEC’s strategic goals and funds raised from trusts and foundations. Prepare regular reports for senior management and trustees on the development, progress and future strategic actions for trusts and foundations at the DEC.
Essential qualities, experience, knowledge, skills, include:
- A track record of securing five- and six-figure donations from trusts and foundations.
- Experience of successfully executing cultivation plans and retaining positive, key relationships with trusts and foundations on behalf of a charity.
- Experience of producing professional and compelling funding propositions for a trust and foundation audience.
- Experience of delivering highly engaging and personalised stewardship journeys and meeting the reporting requirements of charitable trusts and foundations
- High level of technical ability with appropriate computer software packages and data analysis and visualisation software [i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe, Box].
- Proven financial acumen to comfortably evaluate financial information and manage budgets.
- High attention to detail and numerate accuracy in analysing and using data and financial information, to write coherent reports.
- Clear and confident communicator both orally and in writing [in English].
- Able to present persuasively and influence decision making.
- Able to use initiative and judgement to proactively identify and resolve problems.

About the role
The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD), hosted at the UN Foundation, is a dynamic international partnership of over 700 organisations. GPSDD connects stakeholders to address data gaps and harness opportunities for sustainable development.
In 2018, GPSDD , Sightsavers and partners, launched the Inclusive Data Charter (IDC)to promote inclusive, disaggregated data for better understanding and addressing the needs of marginalised people. The IDC has grown significantly, with commitments from over 30 Champions.
Sightsavers, a co-founding champion of the IDC, prioritises inclusive data to support its health and inclusion strategies. The Programme Manager - Inclusive Data will work across GPSDD and Sightsavers, managing strategic programmes and partnerships to advance inclusive data initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee IDC strategic planning and delivery, ensuring team collaboration with the IDC Technical Advisor and Advocacy Lead.
- Manage relationships with IDC champions, facilitating their engagement through regular calls and meetings.
- Foster partnerships between IDC champions, GPSDD partners, and other organisations to share experiences and strengthen inclusive data systems.
- Lead the IDC impact and learning pillar, capturing and sharing progress through data stories and knowledge products.
- Oversee budget development, monitoring, and reporting for IDC and Sightsavers, making resource allocation decisions.
- Collaborate with the IDC Advocacy Lead to identify advocacy opportunities and plan major IDC events.
- Support the Technical Advisor in providing resources and tools for Champions to develop and implement inclusive data action plans.
- Facilitate engagement of IDC co-facilitating partners, including GPSDD, Sightsavers, the UK’s Office for National Statistics and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
- Lead Sightsavers’ inclusive data portfolio globally, engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Line manage the Inclusive Data Project Manager and Inclusive Data Operations & Planning Coordinator, overseeing workplans and progress.
- Stay informed on trends in data disaggregation and inclusive data, including the SDGs and the goal to leave no one behind.

Skills and Experience
The Programme Manager will provide programme leadership for the Inclusive Data Charter initiative, ensuring the development and delivery of agreed plans. You will coordinate the engagement of co-facilitating partners and ensure effective participation by Champions in Charter management. Additionally, you will advance reporting and learning mechanisms to track progress against Champion Action Plans.
The Programme Manager will oversee Sightsavers’ inclusive data programme at a global level, offering strategic leadership across the portfolio. Strengthening relationships with internal stakeholders and external strategic partners will be key to advancing organisational objectives and enhancing Sightsavers’ leadership in inclusive data.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Develop the advocacy team’s expertise in all of the ways our evidence can be used to effect change, including policy work both with the Home Office and NHS England who commission healthcare in immigration detention, parliamentary work, media work, and to contribute to strategic litigation, and how and when they interrelate.
- Understand and keep updated on what is happening with immigration detention policy, including matters that influence it, such as the literature on health issues of detainees, key legal judgements, inquests, reports by official monitors and parliamentary committees, responses to parliamentary questions, parliamentary debates, research produced by other organisations, and information that you glean from FOI requests.
- Keep abreast of the wider political context that may influence immigration and detention policy.
- Represent Medical Justice at external meetings and events.
- Participate in Home Office, NHS England and monitoring bodies’ stakeholder forums.

- Line-manage the Parliamentary & Research Analyst and the Researcher, including providing support in terms of personal development/training and well-being. There will also be line-managing responsibilities for some periods of an individual on the Casework Trainee programme for people with lived experience, once it is introduced.
Research / line-management of the Researcher
- Consulting colleagues, other NGOs and lawyers to identify research projects that draw on medical evidence from our casework that would have the most impact, including carrying out research for strategic litigation and supporting such litigation.
- Collaborate with other organisations as appropriate.
- Lead the team in conducting research and provide periodic feedback of policy implications regarding the emerging findings to others within the organisation for consideration.
- Lead the team in the producing analysis of research and audits of our MLRs, writing up into required formats, including research reports, text for inclusion in policy work, submissions, witness statements, briefing papers for parliamentarians, and media articles.
- Together with colleagues, offer suitable material for peer review publication and contribute where appropriate to research carried out by medical professional bodies and others.
- Contribute to the further development of the Medical Justice datasystem and its functionality.
Policy work
- Carry out policy work with the Home Office, NHS England and their contractors – this may include responding to consultations, and challenging issues proactively.
- Build relationships with the Home Office, NHS England, and monitoring bodies – make sure Medical Justice is included in all relevant consultations and alert others if they have been missed out.
- Collaborate as much as is sensible with other organisations to get the best outcomes for people in detention.
Parliamentary work / line-management of the Parliamentary & Research Analyst
- Oversee our work as the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Immigration Detention, raising awareness of immigration detention amongst parliamentarians and priming them to take action. Work to ensure the APPG brings together parliamentarians with experts, NGOs, lawyers and people with lived experience to amplify our collective impact.
- Oversee the briefing of parliamentarians for challenging unjust policies, asking parliamentary questions, holding parliamentary debates, opposing parliamentary approval of harmful policy amendments, and assisting parliamentarians in tabling amendments to relevant Bills.
- Oversee submissions parliamentary committees to inquires they hold as well as the briefing of committee members and clerks.
Galvanise Medical professional organisations
1. Work with Royal Colleges, the British Medical Association and others to galvanise their communities, encouraging helpful evidence from them, and organising events with them.
Media
1. Work both with the Director and on your own to create mainstream and social media opportunities to promote the work of Medical Justice and the needed content.

- Provide reports for staff and/or trustees as requested.

About the Role
Working under the direction and support of a Regional Prevention Services Managers, the Deputy Service Manager will lead a team of client-facing workers to deliver effective and high-quality services that strive to prevent homelessness. You will be responsible for young people needing longer term placements, as well as sharing responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all hosts and staff at the service.
The postholder will be accountable for the day-to-day aspects of service delivery in line with Depaul’s expectations and procedures. You will oversee all aspects of project delivery of our Supported Lodgings service, including the line management of client-facing workers, supporting the to deliver high-quality services.
Your work will be underpinned by the Depaul Endeavour model of assets based, psychologically informed delivery, the aim of which is to ensure that every client leaves a Depaul service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self determining in their lives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Ensure every client accessing Supported Lodgings service is welcomed, kept safe and has a suitable support plan for longer term accommodation and support
• You will lead on the assessment of needs and risk, predominantly focused on suitable risk management plans for engagement in Supported Lodgings Services
• Develop and deliver key partnerships with referral agencies and support related projects
• Work with the Regional Prevention Services Manager to continuously review and develop the services under your responsibility
• You will have responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for Supported Lodgings’ guests and volunteers through regular checks and reporting.
• Work with the Regional Prevention Services Manager to monitor project budgets and petty cash systems
• Participate in internal/external local and national meetings and supervision meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary

The role will provide caseworker/advice support to people referred into the Centre’s Barts health Social Prescribing service. The role will focus on what matters to the individual and take a holistic approach providing casework level advice on welfare benefits, housing, debt and energy advice.
The caseworker/advisor will work with the social prescribing cardiovascular team and refer to agencies at a specialist level including immigration, legal advice and debt as well as support individuals to access a range of services and activities in their local communities.
The role will build collaborative relationships with the Cardiovascular Prevention Group (ELoPE), including social prescribers and support the delivery of social welfare advice training. This is to enable health professionals to identify and connect people experiencing hardship with the support they need to improve their circumstances and prevent problems developing into crisis.

In this newly created role, you will work closely with businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, and statutory and voluntary sector partners to support employed unpaid carers, particularly around fuel poverty, and financial resilience.
Your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining relationships with statutory partners and businesses, delivering programmes that help establish carer support groups, and collaborating on the Fuel Poverty Strategy Group. You will also be responsible for providing vital information and resources on energy efficiency and income maximisation, facilitating workshops and training sessions, and leading outreach activities to support carers. Fundraising and Training Coordinator

Our client is looking for a conscientious and organised individual to provide exceptional support as part of their fundraising and training team. You will assist in the coordination of several key projects and ensure professional administrative support is provided to their External Training Lead and the Fundraising Lead. Their External Training team deliver courses like Mental Health First Aid to over 2,000 people per year. In the last five years they have also raised nearly £1m through fundraising, which they are able to invest in key services. You will be integral in supporting both these areas to achieve their strategy as a charity. In this varied role, no two days will be the same, from supporting at fundraising events, to booking people into training courses or responding to invoicing and finance requests. You’ll feel at ease working on multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to new challenges and providing excellent administrative support
You’ll have experience within an administration or coordination role, with good IT skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with the ability to manipulate data, export information and present information in a logical format. You’ll be proactive and innovative, demonstrating how to think out of the box to generate new ideas and identify solutions to problems. An excellent communicator, you’ll be able to build good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring that time critical deadlines are met. This is an exciting and challenging position, which will be pivotal in growing the acquisition programme as part of our 5-year strategy. Working closely with the rest of the A&W team and wider stakeholders, such as the Communications team, media and creative agencies, you'll help to optimise acquisition activity as we scale up investment in this area. In addition to leading DRTV, this role also involves delivering a variety of other important activity as required, such as inserts and welcome journeys. There are opportunities to turn your hand to a range of channels and product promotion as we aim to scale up channels such as inserts.
Criteria
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual with excellent communication and analytical skills. You’ll enjoy looking for ways to optimise all elements of campaigns from creative, content and media testing and able to act as a key point of knowledge in this area. Experience of DRTV is required, with an understanding of individual giving fundraising KPIs, including in relation to: DRTV, print, telemarketing, email and landing pages. You will be confident working with data with attention to detail and accuracy, from briefing data criteria for emails to using excel to review and share results. You will also be able to engage wider stakeholders in our acquisition testing plan development, providing clear regular communication to update on progress and learnings.
Most importantly, you’ll be keen to deliver insight and audience-led, best in class fundraising campaigns to help Brooke realise an ambitious acquisition growth programme.
