Fundraising Operations Officer
We seek an inspiring individual with a deep understanding of fundraising to provide expertise within the Operations area of our Regional Fundraising team.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering home working and flexible hours.
Position: CE334 Operations Officer
Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide. However, extensive travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (flexible working available)

The Role
This is an exciting new role in a newly formed team, built to enable personalised and human connection with the Stroke Association’s Regional Fundraising supporters.
The team purpose is to listen to, understand and inspire our supporters and our teams to fundraise with pride in a way that’s both easy and right for them, with the help they need to enable greater giving that is legal, ethical and inspiring to others. Together, the team will provide onboarding and regular data led stewardship touchpoints for supporters across a portfolio currently delivering £4.7m annual income.
Key responsibilities will include:

· Supporting our adherence to fundraising compliance and ethics.
· Developing wider team resources and tools, including new technologies.
· Developing and supporting efficient, data led and customer centric processes and ways of working across the team.

The Role
Reporting to the Policy Manager, the Policy Officer works to develop UK-wide, evidence-based policy positions on key issues affecting stroke survivors or those at risk of stroke. Working closely with the rest of the team, they will consult with internal and external experts as well as stroke survivors as part of the policy development process and ensure final positions are disseminated and used effectively.
The Policy Officer identifies and drafts organisational consultation responses, ensuring submissions are backed up by evidence and are informed by those affected by stroke.
Providing expert policy advice and support to colleagues across the organisation, they monitor the external policy landscape and regularly update colleagues on developments. They also support local systems leadership by providing influencing support to regional colleagues, helping to embed policy across the organisation.
Working closely with the Public Affairs and Campaigns team, they support influencing activity by providing up-to-date evidence to develop strategies and messages. They also support the public affairs work when necessary, and provide policy support for the Chief Executive and other senior leaders by preparing presentations when required.
They collaborate with external partners and coalitions to represent the Association’s policy aims, and push for the integration of the voice of lived experience in policymaking.
This role will be provided on a fixed term basis, to cover maternity leave within the team.

About the role
We are looking for an exceptional individual who will support the development and delivery of the corporate safeguarding function across the Society, ensuring that people at risk are supported to remain safe and have timely access to appropriate support and intervention, in line with legislative requirements and good safeguarding practice.

About the role
As members of the Community Directorate we aim to reach out to and support people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers. We enable the voice of people affected by Parkinson’s to be heard to improve services, inform our priorities and improve decision making locally.
Through community development we work in close collaboration with our Parkinson’s community to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s.
You’ll provide high quality business support to the Northern Ireland Director and team.
What you’ll do:
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Northern Ireland
- Provide first point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders
- Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and other events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings as required
- Work across the team in Northern Ireland to ensure our records are up to date on all the current activities we and others support and that these are recorded on the local activity database
- Keep up to date with the directorate’s activities in order to provide clear, accurate information
What you’ll bring:
- Experience of team administration or supporting a senior executive
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally.
- Ability to work co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s
- Excellent administration skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities
- Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet the business requirements

About the role
Contract: Permanent, Part-time 14 hours per week (salary will be pro-rata'd).
As an expert in self-neglect, you will be bringing knowledge, evidence and insight, and best practice acumen in developing and applying approaches and measures which operate to reduce the likelihood of safeguarding concerns arising, specifically in relation to self-neglect and suicidal ideation.
Passionate about safe practice and delivering strength-based preventative approaches, your role will be crucial to equipping our staff and volunteers to better recognise and respond to early indicators and ensure that safeguarding risk reduction measures are built into service design. Working collaboratively with policy, research, and influencing teams you will look to create opportunities for meaningful change in the external environment relating to practices and responses to self-neglect.
You will:
- Provide expert knowledge, advice, support, and guidance relating to the self-neglect of adults, and suicidal ideation, particularly focusing on those affected by dementia.
- Develop, create, implement evidenced-based resources and tools to support in the delivery of high-quality safeguarding in both the prevention from harm and protection from harm where risks of self-neglect and/or suicidal ideation exist.
- Develop and deliver training, workshops, and other continuous learning opportunities relating to self-neglect and suicidal ideation.
- Working collaboratively with teams across Alzheimer’s Society to identify opportunities for meaningful systems change for people with dementia at risk of self-neglect.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The right candidate will have a strong focus on charity administration and development, financial stability, thinking creatively about opportunities for income, and be a passionate advocate for housing justice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure AzuKo’s operations and programme delivery are implemented efficiently and effectively.
- Be responsible for overall financial health and administration of AzuKo.
- Ensure AzuKo fulfils its legal, statutory, and regulatory responsibilities.
- Monitor progress towards strategic goals, plans and budgets.
- Inspire and lead an effective remote team, with a common sense of purpose, division of responsibility, transparency, and accountability.
- Work with the Development Officer to drive fundraising (trusts and foundations, and individual giving), innovating approaches towards existing and new supporters, with regular reviews of fundraising pipeline.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Demonstrable track record of operating at leadership level (CEO, or similar) within a small-medium size charity.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK charity administration, finance and regulatory responsibilities (e.g. Charity Commission).
- Experience of working strategically to source, secure and steward sustainable funding (grant income and individual giving) working within tight financial constraints.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and processes, safety, and quality management.
- Comfortable with digital/remote working e.g. use of One Drive, Slack, Zoom.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel) and accounting software Xero.
- Excellent written and communication skills, able to articulate complex ideas in simple language.

The Head of Communications and Marketing is a strategically important post in the organisation with lead responsibility for overseeing communications, marketing and PR for the UK’s only national cleft lip and palate support charity.
