You will be required on site in central London 5 days per week, this may go down to 1-2 days remote once you are established in the role. This post is running until mid October in the first instance.

Local groups are a vital part of Amnesty International UK's movement. Made up of dedicated members and individuals, they volunteer to promote Amnesty's work in their local areas. Currently, there are 120 affiliated local groups across the UK, each operating in its local town or city. Recently, some local groups have formed regional networks which cover wider areas. These groups function across the 13 Amnesty regions, each represented by an Activism Representative elected by local groups to support their activities. While local groups primarily work within their areas, they also participate in regional and national events, such as the Annual General Meeting and National Conference (Human Rights Festival).
About the role
This role is in the Local Activism Team which is responsible for enabling and empowering more people and partners in communities throughout the UK to use their skills, connections, knowledge and passion to campaign together for positive human rights change. The role report to a Senior Community Organiser.
The Local Groups Administrator is accountable for:
- Monitoring & Evaluating local group and network campaign activities, analysing impact, and reporting progress, including through yearly surveys.
- Coordinating Check-ins via phone or in-person with local groups and regional networks.
- System Updates: Reviewing and updating internal systems to ensure local groups and regional networks have resources to campaign effectively.
- Training & Guides: Developing and delivering training sessions, guides, and planning packs to equip activists.
It also supports regional and local activist teams to build and diversify the Amnesty movement in and with their communities.

- Work with young survivors aged 13-25yo, holding a caseload of varying complexity, prioritising high risk cases

- Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)

About the role:

Waltham Forest Advocacy & Support Services (SASS) provide free and confidential support to survivors of abuse within the community. Our team offer information, advocacy and specialist services to increase safety and meet a range of needs – these can include ongoing safety concerns, emotional or housing support, legal options, reporting to the police, help around child contact, benefits and financial advice. As part of the support we also ensure survivors can access therapeutic support via the Waltham Forest Therapeutic Marketplace.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in this busy team for a Duty Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible in dealing with all incoming referrals and queries to the Advocacy Service. The role will involve processing all referrals, liaising with professionals, establishing initial contact as per the service’s contract requirement. The process of initial contact will involve completing a SafeLives risk assessment, assessing the service user’s practical and therapeutic needs and supporting with any urgent needs that arise during this contact. Additionally, the duty worker will make appropriate referral out, this includes MARAC and complete adult and child safeguarding referrals where required in line with Solace’s policies and procedures. The Duty Worker will maintain and manage any waiting list and will work closely with all members of the team in relation to the allocation of cases and case updates.
About You
Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on service users and their children, and experience of working with women who have experienced domestic and/or sexual abuse. You will also have experience of using Office Excel and case management system. You will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

As Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, you will identify, deliver and evaluate professional rehabilitation interventions to vision impaired people to enhance their skills and confidence to maximise their independence.
You will provide a person-centred outcome-focussed approach to rehabilitation; supporting people to identify measurable outcomes, carry out assessments and develop a plan that will support each person to achieve their outcomes and meet their needs, reducing risks and lessening the impact of their VI.
The Vision Rehabilitation Specialist will work collaboratively with other services within the organisation to ensure individuals are receiving support whilst waiting for assessment and rehabilitation.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Triage – To carry out an initial conversation, in line with the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, to identify further actions, and risk factors, refer and signpost to the organisation’s wider services and other organisations to meet the individuals’ desired outcomes.
- Assessment - To undertake specialist VI assessments with the person to identify their needs and aspirations to promote independent living.
- Plan – To agree a plan with the person about how their needs can be met, through other services, equipment and rehabilitation.
- Rehabilitation and service provision – To implement, evaluate and review rehabilitative services to the vision-impaired person aimed at maximising and maintaining independence, safety, dignity, and choice. Rehabilitation may include, but not be restricted to:
- Daily Living Skills – to include the teaching of new skills or adapted practice for all aspects of daily living, home management, employment and leisure.
- Communication Skills – to include all forms of access to communication including but not limited to print, Braille, Moon, audio description, ICT, telephones, Deafblind manual and block alphabet.
- Mobility training – To develop planned programmes of training to develop independence in indoor and outdoor mobility environments, including training in guiding skills, pre-cane, long cane, orientation (including specialist equipment) and route planning techniques.
- Low vision - To provide training/therapy in coordination with local NHS low vision services that help individuals make the best use of functional vision.
