Learning Disability Caseworker

Mencap are recruiting for a Learning Disability Caseworker (LDC) to give advice on welfare benefits, housing, health and community care, to people with a learning disability, their families, carers and professionals working with them. 

The Learning Disability Caseworker role will be based at home, with occasional travel to casework venues and our Peterborough office. This role will be full time (37.5 hours) on a fixed term contract until March 2026. 

Mencap is committed to providing good quality information and advice casework, enabling people with a learning disability and their families to access critical service and support. The casework service is outcomes focused and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the positive impact that their casework has on individuals and families. 

Do you have the key skills for a Learning Disability Caseworker?

• Level 3 qualification in giving advice or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Strong communicator with analytical skills.
• Experience of working in an outcomes and impact focused advice service.
• Experience of working with a CRM system and keeping clear advice records is essential.
• I.T skills and the use of Microsoft Office tools.
• Well developed listening and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of social care issues and of learning disability.
• Knowledge of social care and healthcare law.
• The ability to communicate clearly in another language is desirable, but not essential.

The Youth Project Worker will be working within the LGBTQ+ team ensuring the project delivery and successful completion of funding contracts. Building relationships with LGBTQ+ partners and provide a safe space for young people who identify as LGBTQ+. The groups are focused on supporting LGBTQ+ young people to come together, explore their questions & identities, learn about LGBTQ+ culture, find local community, make friends and have fun.

Key responsibilities

Delivering services to children and young people
* Engaging with young people in face-to-face groups and 1-1 sessions to motivate, inspire and encourage potential
* Assess the needs and strengths of the referred child or young person and help them identify individual goals to achieve desired change in conjunction with families and professionals where appropriate
* To take responsibility for own caseload of children, young people and families some with complex and multiple needs
* Support to plan and deliver our LGBTQ+ sessions ensuring continued support is given by Eikon to young people; putting young people first, ensuring the right help is offered at the right time
* Support the LGBTQ+ team in ensuring young people are involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of youth work
* Ensure that parents and carers are involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of the peer parenting work

Supporting with Impact, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
* Use goal-based outcomes and additional monitoring tools to monitor effectiveness and the impact of support for CYP accessing the service
* To provide written case studies as evidence of the effectiveness of individual interventions
* Support the LGBTQ+ team to develop and evaluate service delivery and scale up the programme
* Support the LGBTQ+ team to ensure accurate and timely data reports, for internal management and funders in line with project reporting timelines and expectations, reported from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective

Personal Development/other duties
* To attend and actively participate in regular case reviews with line manager
* Keep up to date with good practice, legislation and policies that have an impact on service delivery at Eikon
* Work as part of a team to lead and inspire collaboration across Eikon.
* Attend training and supervision as discussed and agreed between yourself and line manager

The Role

In May 2024, the organisation launched REACH (Researching Effective Approaches for Children): A plan to find out what works to prevent domestic abuse and support child victims. 

You will develop a detailed plan to operationalise the REACH Plan, including the structure, governance, funding, partnerships and activities that will lead to finding what works in prevention and recovery from domestic abuse. You will also build key relationships in the sector, in survivor networks, in academia and among research funders and in national government to ensure acceptability and secure support for the plan and its objectives

Working closely with the leadership team, you will progress the existing plan to the point of being ready to launch a successful programme of work in April 2025.

· A degree-level education or equivalent experience

About the role

Fareham and Gosport Wellbeing service is looking to recruit a wellbeing coach to work with young persons aged 11-25 years.

The Wellbeing Coach will be employed by Solent Mind as part of the Wellbeing project and will be located within the Coastal PCN (comprising Brook Lane, Lockswood and Stubbington surgeries).

The Wellbeing Coach will see patients aged 11-25 on an individual basis and will carry out assessments, and deliver 1-1 sessions to help younger people improve their mental wellbeing and build resilience.

About you

You will need to have a good understanding of mental health in younger person’s, as well as experience of working with people with mental health needs, excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of the key difficulties and challenges faced by people on their recovery journey.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference and play a vital role within the Fundraising team at MHA. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the individual giving programme in line with the wider strategic objectives.

To do this you will manage the direct mail appeals and online campaigns, coordinate the regular giving programme, develop the strategy for the acquisition of new supporters and retention of existing ones, and produce the twice-yearly supporter newsletter. You would also provide additional support for the legacy programme when required.

About You
We are looking for a passionate and creative individual giving fundraiser or marketeer to develop and drive forward the programme. You will have a track record of delivering against income targets and KPIs, and be experienced in delivering campaigns and activities on time and within budget.

With excellent writing and communication skills, you will be able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

The Start for Life Programme aims to support families during the “critical first 1001 days”- from pregnancy until the child is two years of age. The Family Hubs and Start for Life Programme Guidance (DHSC/DfE 2022) recommends increasing workforce capacity and capability through the use of new workforce models that incorporate skill mix. Such changes may help services respond to changing patient needs and workforce availability. Five local authorities in England, who are existing Start for Life sites, were awarded DHSC funding to develop and pilot innovative skill mix models to complement their Family Hub offers and reach to families with children under five.

The Research Fellow will join the team conducting the evaluation of these innovative models of providing early years services. The team is led by Oxford University and is being conducted in collaboration with Anna Freud, University College London, and Ecorys.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic team of researchers, learn about applied methodologies for evaluating complex policy initiatives and receive training and consultancy from experts in Social Network Analysis. Furthermore, the post-holder will have opportunities to develop skills and experience in multiple research methodologies and dissemination.

The ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter and quite autonomous in the day-to-day management of the project. They will be part of several wider project teams, where the pace will be quite fast and very busy sometimes, but they will be part of an extremely caring and supportive team who value good communication, generosity, and everyone’s wellbeing.

Location

This role will mostly entail remote or office working but some onsite visits across England may be needed. Work can be carried out from home or at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH) or our Northern Hub (Huckletree, The Express Building, 9 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester M4 5AD).
