About the role

• Responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of diversity projects.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of all I&D matters, particularly on disability and accessibility, relating to the chemical sciences community, keeping up to date with legislative developments and emerging trends.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure that the I&D strategy is implemented across all our work, in line with the overall RSC strategy.

We are looking for:

• Degree study or relevant qualifications or experience.
• Proven experience of disability and accessibility issues in science, and initiative to develop new ideas and approaches to address disability inclusion.
• General knowledge of the chemical science sector and wider STEMM community, including higher education, academia and industry.
• Knowledge of the factors currently influencing the inclusion and diversity environment, as well as the needs and concerns of underrepresented people in the chemical sciences community.
• Experience of working on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and / or able to balance and prioritise across multiple projects, tasks and deadlines and organising meetings and events.
• Ability to confidently handle communication with a sensitive nature, demonstrating empathy, tact, diplomacy and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
• Network of scientific contacts with lived and/or research expertise in disability in chemistry or related sciences, or evidence of being able to develop such networks.

In this role you will be working alongside volunteer advisers, providing holistic advice and support to households in financial crisis and provide advice around income maximisation, managing fuel costs including leading on our Energy Advice Project, benefit take-up, applying for grants to help with costs arising from the cost-of-living crisis, reducing indebtedness and budgeting and money management to help to prevent future financial crisis.

The purpose of this role is to reduce the stigma for low-income households around needing and accessing financial support and give people confidence to seek cheaper alternatives to contract costs around, for example, telephone, tv and broadband.

The project includes support on preparing personal income and expenditure details which can be used by residents themselves when negotiating with debtors on repayment plans.

This work will have a focus on community-based outreach work, working alongside organisations such as foodbanks and community centres. It will aim to prevent future or recurring hardship.

Role Description

The Project Manager is an adept and organised professional, esteemed within the nuclear policy community for their level. Responsible for overseeing a discrete package of work, they must demonstrate a clear understanding and alignment with broader programme goals, strategies, and objectives. The role will report to the Programme Manager.

Taking charge of project deliverables, the Project Manager will navigate the entire project cycle, from generating fundraising ideas to developing them further and building knowledge of funding relationships. 

The Project Manager should possess a solid understanding of global security and conflict

resolution, coupled with a proven ability to design, and execute high-quality project management and research. The ideal candidate is an established researcher with a specialisation in nuclear weapons issues or whatever else is relevant to the project that they will be managing, and an emerging track record of policy relevant publications. 

The Project Manager will manage two BASIC projects concurrently:

1. The Peaceful Nuclear Technologies Portal (PEANUT, 2024-2025)

The PEANUT Portal will be a one-stop shop microsite featuring information about available civil nuclear science and technologies for the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs or ‘Global Goals’). In this capacity, you will work with a subject matter expert (already appointed) to build the site and actively promote the site and peaceful nuclear technologies more generally amongst relevant States and multilateral conferences.

As Project Manager, you will oversee the successful completion of further funding for the PEANUT project for beyond March 2025.

2. ‘Scoping British Nuclear Weapons Harms’ (2024-2026). 

Scoping British Nuclear Harms is a two-year scoping inquiry into the humanitarian and environmental harms caused by the UK Government’s nuclear weapons programme since its genesis. The candidate will build on existing work by BASIC to develop a nuclear harm reduction framework, and develop national and international networks with others working on these issues to develop and promote this work.

The role requires a fundamental understanding of the UK’s nuclear weapons programme and history, and the Project Manager will have a professional background in nuclear science and/or technology. Ideally the Project Manager will also have experience with science communication. 

The Project Manager should possess the skills to expand their network in their area of specialisation, benefiting BASIC, and be capable of line managing other team members within their programme. 

This role necessitates a formal project or programme management qualification – BASIC will provide the Project Manager with such training and qualifications if they do not already possess one. The Project Manager will collaborate with their line manager to identify a professional development plan, closing skills gaps and aspiring to become an internationally respected leader in their field.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements

• Line manage, mentor/coach, and provide pastoral care for the project team: policy fellows, project assistants and interns

• Write high-quality, policy-relevant research reports, op-eds and briefings

• Organise international roundtables, workshops and other events with track 1 and 2 participants

• Manage relationships with stakeholders and build BASIC’s network and reputation

• Independently represent BASIC at international meetings

2. Fundraising

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Develop a project, by independently and confidently scoping funding opportunities

• Liaise with the Programme Manager on funding priorities and opportunities

• Manage projects with minimal day-to-day manager input.

• Develop new and existing relationships with funders

• Write and edit funding applications

3. Communications

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders including international partners to build strong relationships.

• Facilitate dialogue and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

• Promote our / their work confidently and internationally 

• Confidently use online social media platforms, and if possible, press contacts

4. Office support

Applicants will need to be able to support the running of the organisation and colleagues with a range of administrative tasks wherever required.

Role Requirements

Essential Criteria for the role

• Educated to Master’s level – or demonstrate the equivalent in work experience

• 7+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues

• Passion and commitment to our organisational mission of promoting dialogue to advance global security

• Demonstrated ability and track record in leading the creative development and delivery of policy projects in the UK or internationally, including budgeting and reporting

• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds and with broad variations in seniority and function

• Excellent analytical and methodological skills, and an organised approach to research

• Well-developed interpersonal skills, including evidence of working successfully as part of a team

• Strong track record of previous fundraising experience and success

• Experience organising policy roundtables and workshops

• Willingness to travel internationally when required

• Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail

• Good personal network in their research area

• Previous line management experience

Prospectus is pleased to be supporting a UK Leading youth homelessness charity. They provide homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills, with the aim to get them back into education, training, and employment. At an exciting time, they are now looking for a Participation Manager to join their team, on a FTC basis, initially for 12 months.

As the new Participation Manager, you will report into the Director of Policy and Participation, and you will work to set up and establish a new cross organisation youth participation function.  You will work closely with the young people and colleagues to review current participation and use this to develop and implement a strategy for effective youth participation across the organisation, whilst implementing  guidelines for best practice. You will lead the delivery of participation training to staff and trustees, manage a range of internal and external relationships, negotiate and work collaboratively with peers and other colleagues and represent the organisation in various internal and external forums.

To be considered for this position, you will have significant experience of working directly with young people and have an understanding of participation theories and experience of using these to train young people, staff and trustees.  You will also be able to work collaboratively across team and organisational boundaries, negotiating and building relationships with schools, local statutory services and the voluntary sector and be able to establish and deliver a new programme of work within a set timescale and on budget. Candidates with experience of  leading and delivering effective youth participation and engagement programmes and working with young people, providing pastoral support and safeguarding and are highly encouraged to apply.

The role is offered on a hybrid basis, you will be required on site at their London office 2 days per week, with the option to WFH to remaining 3 days. Your role will convey the impact that philanthropic support is enabling for people affected by Parkinson’s - including those living with the condition, their friends and family and our wider community of philanthropists. 

About the role 

With support from the Philanthropy Lead, you’ll embed, develop and deliver a first-class supporter experience journey for £10k+ donors (c. 100 individuals, trusts and statutory funders), and lead on the stewardship content and campaign renewal asks for our £1k-£10k mid-value programme (raising £100k+ per year).

What you’ll do:

• Lead on the delivery of our mid-value programme for £1k-£10k supporters, including planning, creating and delivering communication and engagement opportunities and written asks for support linked to wider Parkinson’s UK campaigns 

• Lead on the creation and delivery of the supporter experience strategy for £10k-£100k+ donors 

• Devise regular donor e-communications which consolidate updates from across the charity and our research portfolio, and work with canvassers to create impact reports for major donors, trust and statutory funders using In Design 

• Lead on embedding team stewardship processes including thanking, gift agreements and co-ordinating mailings

What you’ll bring:

• Creative and collaborative approach to identify opportunities to engage our high value audiences, with strong influencing and negotiation skills to secure buy-in for projects and new ways of working across the charity 

• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to inform, persuade and inspire action 

• An understanding of the principles of major donor fundraising, data protection regulations and supporter experience best practice 

• Interest in learning about our fundraising priorities and developing an understanding and empathy with the Parkinson’s community which will be reflected through the outputs in this role

The Royal Court Theatre has an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team as a Senior Development Manager. 

The Senior Development Manager plays a vital, strategic role in enabling the Development team to reach our ambitious fundraising target. They will work closely with the Director of Development, Development Officers, as well as with the Marketing and Communications team, Finance Team and Artistic and Literary Teams.

The role will be responsible for securing new income and managing existing relationships with Corporate supporters and high net-worth individuals. Working closely with the Director of Development, they will lead on the development and implementation of an innovative strategy to grow income from a variety of sources as part of the Development team’s overall fundraising strategy. 

The successful candidate will:

• Be an experienced and pro-active development professional with an impressive track record in fundraising in a relevant environment, including in areas such as high-level giving schemes, corporate partnerships and securing large gifts 

• Have proven success in donor stewardship, developing enduring one-to-one relationships with high level supporters, meeting ambitious targets and securing new business 

• Have excellent organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload, deliver to deadlines and manage conflicting priorities

Role Description

The Programme Manager is a highly-efficient, well-organised, and internationally-respected member of the nuclear policy community.They are expected to be able to take primary ownership of project delivery management as well as lead the development of multiple new projects, including developing ideas leading to successful fundraising.They will have strong knowledge of several methodologies which could be used for new projects and will have a track record of winning funding, as well as some knowledge of funding relationships. 

The Programme Manager will have specialisation in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Regime and will need to have a good general knowledge of global security and conflict resolution, and a demonstrable ability to design and carry out project management and research to a high standard. They are expected to be an internationally recognised researcher with a strong area of specialisation related to nuclear weapons issues, specifically in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty regime. 

The Programme Manager will implement the Non-Proliferation Treaty Monitor (NPT Monitor), a platform that provides independent analysis and information on the effectiveness and implementation of the Treaty by the NPT-recognised nuclear-weapon States. The key objective for the Programme Manager will be to develop this project to a level where the NPT Monitor becomes a permanent and essential fixture of the NPT regime, providing significant analysis on treaty implementation for States Parties (especially smaller delegations), NGOs, and academia. 

The Programme Manager will demonstrate exceptional leadership and vision within the nuclear policy community. They will have a robust track record of policy-relevant publications. A strong network in their area of specialisation is essential, and they are expected to maintain and expand it to benefit BASIC. The Programme Manager will also be responsible for line managing team members across multiple projects, demonstrating exceptional leadership and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

For the Senior Policy Fellow title, we expect a well-developed professional network, particularly in fundraising relationships; we expect the ability to manage large scale, complex projects with budgets exceeding £400,000/year; and we expect an independently developed vision for the growth and further development of the programme including a fundraising strategy to match this ambition. This role also demands a formal project or programme management qualification, although we are open to discussing the provision of training if this has not already been achieved.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Programme delivery 

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements

• Line manage, mentor/coach, and provide pastoral care for the project team: policy fellows, project assistants and interns

• Write high-quality, policy-relevant research reports, op-eds and briefings

• Manage organisation of international roundtables, workshops and other events with track 1 and 2 participants

• Manage relationships with stakeholders and build BASIC’s network and reputation

• Educated to Master’s level

• 8-15+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues

Nature Based Solutions Manager - London and Slough

About The Role

As our Nature Based Solutions Manager, you will be at the forefront of the co-creation of NBS that change peoples' lives and the places they live in two projects - Project Sponge in Slough and Community Bluescapes in Richmond, London. Alongside the other team members, you will demonstrate the power of urban wetlands and other blue infrastructure to help communities to adapt to climate change and build better, safer, more natural places to live.

Your key role will be to co-design and deliver with the local community NBS interventions that build resilience to flooding, provide space for wetland wildlife and improve health and well-being of citizens. You'll manage the tendering process and contractors; ensure high quality and innovative interventions are created and effectively communicate messages about climate change and nature-based solutions to citizens, partners and stakeholders.

This is an exciting, innovative approach to climate change adaptation at street and neighbourhood level. It places local residents at the heart of decision-making, design and delivery of interventions that help keep them safe from floods, droughts, heat stress and create more natural places too.

This role is suitable for hybrid working with the expectation that the successful candidate will spend up to half the working week on site with options for working from home or in office accommodation as appropriate.

About You

You'll need  a professional qualification in NBS/SuDS/NFM design and installation or similar or equivalent experience from previous roles.
