About the role

At SSAFA Safeguarding is everybody’s business. This means that as awareness grows and with it the demand for additional support from those supporting our beneficiaries, we need to ensure the right level of support across the charity for those dealing with complex situations involving safeguarding concerns. We are therefore looking for an experienced social worker to work with our Head of Safeguarding and Social Work Services as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and help develop our response to Safeguarding concerns across the organisation.

In addition to this we would like the successful individual to provide social work support to our Stepping Stone’s home on a regular basis, supporting those women and children who have survived Domestic Abuse to move forward with their lives.

Your key responsibilities will include;

• Working with the Head of Safeguarding and Social Work Services to manage safeguarding issues raised within SSAFA or related to its work, and ensure the appropriate recording of concerns, decision making and referrals. 

• Providing expert advice to the Organisation, employees and volunteers ensuring best practice in embedded into all new and existing policy and guidance.

• Ensuring that the Safeguarding Policy is adhered to across the organisation.

• Undertaking audits across the organisation into safeguarding practice and making recommendations based on the outcomes.

• Providing social work support to the beneficiaries of our Stepping Stones refuge, including maintaining case records and regular reports to the Director of Social Care Operations.

About the team

You will become part of the Social Care Operations Directorate, reporting directly to the Head of Safeguarding and Social Work and working alongside other parts of SSAFA’s specialist services, all of who are dedicated to ensuring that the Armed Forces, veterans and their families can thrive.

About you

We are looking for an experienced social worker ready to take on a new and varied role within SSAFA. Ideally with experience of working within Domestic Abuse and/or Safeguarding and with knowledge of the legislation, policies, and best practices related to these areas.

You will also need excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, as well as a positive, flexible, and creative approach to problem-solving.

The Supported Housing Operations Manager (Homelessness) will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of several supported housing schemes designed for individuals experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantages. This role is critical in ensuring that the services provided are psychologically and trauma-informed, aligned with the Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) principle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the performance and management of services, including supported housing and community-based outreach/support services.

• Adhering to policy/procedures, health & safety, and risk management protocols.
• Supporting service development, including taking the operational lead in developing new services and transforming existing ones.

This position is part of the middle management team and involves direct management of two scheme managers, focusing on promoting a trauma-informed and psychologically sensitive approach to service delivery.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing formal relationships with other organisations, experience of developing operational procedures, experience of safeguarding adults and responding to safeguarding concerns and currently hold or willingness to study to NVQ Level 5 Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent.

Role Description

The Project Manager is an adept and organised professional, esteemed within the nuclear policy community for their level. Responsible for overseeing a discrete package of work, they must demonstrate a clear understanding and alignment with broader programme goals, strategies, and objectives. The role will report to the Programme Manager.

Taking charge of project deliverables, the Project Manager will navigate the entire project cycle, from generating fundraising ideas to developing them further and building knowledge of funding relationships. The Project Manager should possess a solid understanding of global security and conflict resolution, coupled with a proven ability to design, and execute high-quality project management and research. The ideal candidate is an established researcher with a specialisation in nuclear weapons issues, in particular the Non-Proliferation Treaty regime, and an emerging track record of policy relevant publications. 

The Project Manager will kickstart and manage BASIC’s new project: the Nuclear Transparency Index (NUTRI). The Nuclear Transparency Index (NUTRI) will be an online index maintained by BASIC that will assess the transparency of all States that possess nuclear weapons (both those recognised by the Non-Proliferation Treaty and those that are not). Looking at nuclear transparency in its various aspects, the index, using a series of metrics, will enable ranking and comparison of changes over time. The Project Manager will need to apply creative thinking to the development of a transparency framework, and strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess the implementation of each metric by the states under review.

The Project Manager should also possess the skills to promote their work at relevant multilateral forums, expand their network in their area of specialisation, benefiting BASIC, and be capable of line managing other team members within their project. 

This role necessitates a formal project or programme management qualification – BASIC will provide the Project Manager with such training and qualifications if they do not already possess one. The Project Manager will collaborate with their line manager to identify a professional development plan, closing skills gaps and aspiring to become an internationally respected leader in their field.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Liaise with the Programme Manager on funding priorities and opportunities

• Manage projects with minimal day-to-day manager input.

• Develop new and existing relationships with funders

• Write and edit funding applications

3. Communications

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders including international partners to build strong relationships.

• Facilitate dialogue and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

• Promote our / their work confidently and internationally

4. Office support

Essential Criteria for the role

• Educated to Master’s level – or demonstrate the equivalent in work experience

• 7+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues

• Demonstrated ability and track record in leading the creative development and delivery of policy projects to a high standard, in the UK or internationally, including budgeting and reporting

• Passion and commitment to our organisational mission of promoting dialogue to advance global security

• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds and with broad variations in seniority and function

• Excellent analytical and methodological skills, and an organised approach to research

• Well-developed interpersonal skills, including evidence of working successfully as part of a team

• Strong track record of previous fundraising experience and success

• Experience organising policy roundtables and workshops

• Willingness to travel internationally when required

• Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail

• Good personal network in their research area

• Ensure all our income generation activity is compliant with fundraising governance and legislation, including GDPR, PECR, and the Code of Fundraising Practice, and ensure our systems and processes (including the database and reporting) are compliant and fit for purpose in Business Development.

This role is being recruited in order to provide maternity cover for the Finance & Payroll Manager. The role assists the Head of Finance in the delivery of a high-quality finance service to the charity, through oversight and delivery of key finance processes - including accounts payable, payroll, control account reconciliation and completion of VAT returns.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual, who has experience of key finance process, including payroll and accounts payable. The successful candidate would have good understanding of these processes, would communicate well with all levels of stakeholders and will be used to working as part of a team. About the role

Working within our small, dynamic staff team, this role will primarily provide support to the Executive Director in the following areas: communicating the work of the foundation to key stakeholders; lead on and maintaining relationships with trade union groups; driving forward our community grants programme, demonstrating the policy, research and campaign impact of the foundation; general strategic and managerial deputisation.

The role would suit a communications or programmes specialist who is comfortable working flexibly across a number of briefs as befits a small and adaptable organisation. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate an affinity with, and understanding of, the work of the foundation, a flair for messaging, both in print, digitally, and in terms of design, and an administrative and motivational rigour capable of driving forward multiple grant-making programmes with complex timelines.

The role can be either home or office based, but candidates must be willing to spend at least three days a month in our London office.

The Boathouse Youth currently works with children and young people aged 5 to 17, from socio-economically deprived communities across Blackpool, to help tackle the challenges they’re experiencing and is excited to be launching a new Youth Centre in Fleetwood.

We have four programme areas each facilitating a variety of physical, creative and educational activities including centre based youth work, offsite visits and residential experiences.

We also have a specialist programme for children with additional needs and disabilities. Our entire offer is fully funded and therefore free at the point of access.

Our team of highly skilled professionals interact with young people on a daily-basis to deliver well thought out programmes in an engaging way.

We aim to facilitate a safe space to improve mental well-being, promote positive behaviours, support educational growth and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

The ideal candidate will have experience and strong skills in developing and overseeing community based organisations. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Youth Centre ensuring it is fit for purpose, used to its full capacity and delivers a high-standard of youth work programmes which align with the charity’s delivery model.

The successful candidate will manage a team of staff and ensure their workforce is developed effectively. They will be a member of the charity’s management team and will need to work collaboratively with colleagues towards our strategic goals and prepare and present updates regularly to relevant management channels, ensuring that our strategic goals are being achieved.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Head of CYP Services oversee the day-to-day running of the Youth Centre and The BHY in Fleetwood.
• Provide effective Line Management supervision to the Fleetwood workforce.
• Act as an ambassador for The Boathouse Youth throughout partnerships and networking.
• Comply and implement all policies and procedures particularly in areas of statutory compliance such as Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
• Develop an understanding of The BHY’s delivery model and implement relevant elements (as agreed with Head of CYP Services).
• Lead, develop and oversee the planning and implementation of a relevant, participative and engaging youth work programme that is needs led and person centred.
• Ensure that an innovative, creative and fun programme is delivered to address to personal, social, physical and political development of young people as described in the charity’s strategy.
• Ensure regular review and evaluation of the programme to capture the outcomes and positive impact.
• Agree KPI’s with the Head of CYP Services and lead on increasing engagement of young people.
• Be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection and report to the DSL where appropriate to ensure the welfare of all children and young people.
• Seek to be a consistence positive presence within the community.
• Demonstrate clear and hands-on leadership to ensure high standards of youth work, session delivery and behaviour management.
• Create and participate in residential opportunities for young people.
• Meet ‘Gifts-in-Kind’ KPI’s as set by the Strategic Leadership Team.
• Enable young people to deliver community fundraising opportunities to increase budgets.
• Seek local sponsorship opportunities.
• Work with the Strategic Leadership Team to support any major funding opportunities.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of three-years experiencing delivering face-to-face youth and/or community work and a similar length of relevant management experience.
• A successful record of developing community organisations and supporting the implementation of strategic plans.
• Experience of working within the voluntary sector.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES

• A minimum education standard at degree level, ideally in a relevant area but not essential. A JNC professional youth work qualification would be highly desirable.
• A flexible approach to work with ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This role will require evening and weekend work.
• Organisation is key.
• Have extensive knowledge of management theory and practical applications in the workplace.
• Interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships.

The normal hours of work are 40hr per week, or those necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position. Youth Centres are open when schools are closed, therefore there will be a requirement to work outside the normal 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This will include working evenings and weekends, but it will be up to the individual to manage their own diary and work flexibly across the week.

We are looking for someone to join the Pan London Street Homeless Services working within our Spring Gardens service, a busy service accommodating around 100 clients.

Working in the role of Locality and Community Engagement Coordinator your aim will be to enhance and develop working practices and culture across the service; working with staff, clients and the local community to build awareness and understanding, maintain long lasting and positive relationships to support our ambition that everyone should have a place to call home and fulfil their hopes and ambitions. You will work hard to increase engagement and collaboration, reduce incidents and Anti-Social Behavior (ASB) which will ultimately benefit clients and the local community.

This role is Monday – Friday 9am-5pm.  

About you 

We are looking for someone with experience of working with people who have experienced homelessness and/or social exclusion, you will also have some experience of developing strategic partnerships and productive working relationships with a range of external and internal partners and stakeholders.

You’re excellent communication skills and ability to work with others whilst managing your own time, are as important as your ability to provide training to empower staff and volunteers to make positive changes to working practices to support St Mungo’s clients and the community. You will also have a good working knowledge of a range if IT applications.
