The role
We have recently set a new 3-year strategy, leading to a major transformation of the organisation. To support this, we are building a new Project Delivery function and investing in key capabilities, including project management and business analysis. This role involves collaborating with project managers and stakeholders to define and refine project requirements, develop comprehensive business cases, and ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes. You will also provide mentoring to colleagues and support the organisation in adopting new practices and methodologies.
This is a hybrid role, based in London or Sheffield, with regular travel across the UK.
About you
You are an experienced business analyst with a strong background in supporting complex projects, particularly those involving technology. You have a track record of eliciting and translating business needs into comprehensive and accurate project requirements and working collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes. As a self-starter, you can quickly build relationships and support colleagues in adopting new project management and business analysis methodologies. The Director of Finance and Operations is at the heart of Severn Wye’s programmes to tackle climate change and fuel poverty. By ensuring the effective management of the charity’s finances and core services you will guarantee all our programmes grow and have real impact.
The Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for the good financial management and smooth operations of Severn Wye. In turn ensuring Severn Wye projects and programmes are as effective and efficient as they can be in tackling Climate Change and Fuel poverty through the energy system. This role will include
- Organisational development and management:
- In partnership with the CEO, the executive team and Trustees, ensuring the development and implementation of the charity’s strategic plan.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and lead-deliver a wide variety of energy and carbon reduction projects and activities with communities, businesses, and individuals across North Wales.
- Plan and support the Energy Advice Team to deliver our service in line with all funder and contract requirements, ensuring quality of support, time management and report requirements are all completed in appropriate time aligned with all requirements.
- Manage and monitor the Energy Advice Team through performance monitoring and monthly review.
- Using a standard Groundwork Federation GHG Inventory Tool for emission reporting develop, deliver and monitor our annual carbon reduction plan, working with business managers to ensure data is recoded correctly and improvements to our carbon footprint are made.
- Facilitate the renewal of the Green Dragon accreditation, implementing and managing our internal environment systems and processes up to a level 3 standard.
- Arrange and carry out home visits to support residents in reducing their carbon emissions and to save money by lowering the level of consumption and cost of energy.
- Advocate and liaise for householders with energy companies and gas and electric network providers to ensure customers receive the best possible deal for their requirements.
- Work with referral partners to identify vulnerable households, and evidence eligibility to provide support with energy advice and administer emergency fuel vouchers.
- Provide effective support, both advisory and practical, to enable people to make positive changes to their behaviour and to improve the quality of their lives; record actions and highlight the importance of keeping warm to the health and wellbeing of residents.
- Assist residents to access other relevant and complementary services and agencies, liaising with other agencies to assist residents to access funding and support to deliver larger energy efficiency measures.

Beacon for Rare Diseases is seeking a Senior Scientific Projects Officer to join our established team and support us through the next stage in our charity's development.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
As Senior Scientific Projects Officer, you will be pivotal in delivering Beacon’s scientific training initiatives. Your role will involve creating and delivering educational content through written guides, webinars, and workshops, aimed at equipping patient group leaders and academics with the knowledge to contribute effectively to the development of new therapies for rare diseases.
Alongside the Scientific Projects Manager and other key team members, you’ll work across two main areas of the charity’s work:
- REMEDi4ALL: A European-wide drug repurposing platform, aiming to expedite the use of existing medicines to address unmet clinical needs. Collaborating with our European partners, you will drive the creation of training materials focused on patient engagement and education within the drug repurposing community.
- Rare Disease Research: Supporting the development of the UK rare disease research ecosystem, alongside LifeArc’s newly funded Rare Disease Translational Research Centres. You will help establish new standards in patient-centred research, disseminating findings and insights from this innovative network to accelerate rare disease treatment development in the UK.
Across these projects, you will manage the development of educational materials, including writing and reviewing content, supporting and coordinating volunteers and pro bono contributors, planning and delivering live training events, and assessing needs through feedback and stakeholder engagement.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a difference in the charity sector and thrive in a small team environment. The successful candidate will have a strong scientific understanding and experience in creating educational training materials, and/or medical communication. Your work will be crucial in driving forward Beacon’s mission of building a united rare disease community with patient groups at its heart.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing curricula and programmes for live training sessions for patient group leaders, academics, and other stakeholders.
- Creating written and video training materials for our projects, both independently and with Beacon team members, collaborators, and pro bono supporters.
- Developing and maintaining the REMEDi4ALL Digital Repurposing Academy using a WordPress-based learning management system.
- Overseeing and coordinating the expansion of the REMEDi4ALL Digital Repurposing Academy.
- Delivering live training on various topics on behalf of Beacon.
- Leading project work, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, and representing Beacon at meetings and forums as you expand your knowledge and confidence.
- Researching and conducting interviews to identify the training needs of our target beneficiaries.
- Performing in-depth research to understand user needs and training experiences and incorporating into training content.
- Collaborating closely, primarily through virtual communications, with project partners across the UK and Europe.
- Managing and updating a database of drug repurposing training opportunities.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
This is a role suitable for someone with, ideally, 2 or more years of experience within science or medical communication - this may be in the form of medical writing, developing and delivering training or medical science liaison work - and looking to contribute to a non-profit environment.

We are looking for an experienced leader and manager who is skilled in building and developing effective relationships with colleagues, particularly with a workforce which is geographically dispersed. Although this role is predominantly working from home the role does require monthly travel to see our local teams which are currently accross the south of England. You must have access to a stable home broadband service, good mobile signal, a full driving licence and your own transport as well as flexibility with working hours.

The Philanthropy Officer will be a vital member of the high performing Philanthropy team, responsible for both hands-on fundraising as well as providing prospect research and administrative support. You will be responsible for proactively identifying and researching new supporters, coordinating introductory letters to newly established trust and foundations, processing income, thanking donors, ensuring accurate and compliant data keeping, and providing administrative support.
There will be plenty of learning and development opportunities, from contributing towards our high value events, working with colleagues on 6 figure opportunities and drafting and reviewing our communications.

Key duties and responsibilities
The post holder will:
1. Coordinate the monthly small trusts mailing programme, refreshing mailing lists and ensuring communications are tailored and compelling.
2. Manage a small caseload of higher value supporters and prospects, ranging across trusts, foundations and individuals, and raise income by initiating and developing meaningful and enduring relationships to support Mind's charitable delivery.
3. With a range of tools, help build a strong and up to date pipeline of appropriate funders for the wider team by identifying and qualifying new prospects.
4. Manage the thanking process for unsolicited gifts and donations, ensuring personalised, timely and sensitive communication with funders.
5. Work closely with Income and Operations, Finance and CRM and Data teams to ensure all donations are processed in a timely and accurate way, have correct income codes, resolve income queries, transfers and discrepancies and ensure that the team receives timely reports in the appropriate format.
6. Input into annual and quarterly phasing of income: setting ambitious financial ask targets for donors and prospects in your caseload, carefully monitoring and reporting on progress of income, assessing risk to the budget to inform current and future financial years, and working to mitigate any loss of income.
7. Where required, help with ad-hoc prospect research and due diligence requests, completing and refreshing research profiles, using external resources and databases.
8. Provide support on stewardship event activities including coordination of guest lists, writing guest profiles, recording invites and activity on the database.
9. Support and coordinate team communications, including writing and reviewing copy for impact reports, newsletters, thank you letters and annual review mailings.
10. Ensure Mind's database has accurate and up to date records which adhere to Data Protection requirements and produce reports as required to help senior officers and managers analyse pipeline movement and income projection.
11. Undertake the accurate recording and maintenance of donor records on the database (Microsoft Dynamics), and other systems, adhering to business rules and protocols, Data Protection and Fundraising Regulations.
12. Stay informed of Philanthropy trends across the sector, actively participating in fundraising networking groups and bringing ideas to inform Mind's philanthropy activity.
13. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal contacts across departments such as External Relations, Mind Cymru and local Minds as appropriate.
14. Undertake any additional duties that may, from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

The Youth Investment Fund (YIF) is over £300m of capital and revenue grants, funded by the UK Government.
YIF is a commitment to young people to transform and level up the out-of-school youth sector. It will provide truly innovative youth facilities in levelling up priority areas, and early-stage/seed resource funding to underpin them, enabling more positive activities that deliver improved outcomes for young people.
Phase 1 was launched in January by Children in Need on behalf of the UK Government delivering £12 million of funding for small-scale projects and we’re now delivering phase 2.

About this role:
This role plays an important part in enabling the YIF team to support the delivery of the Fund and to provide excellent customer service to its grantees.
We are looking for someone who: is motivated by our mission and is looking for an administrative position at SIB. You will need to like working with numbers, be good at scheduling calls and engaging with customers and have excellent attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
1. To support effective triage of YIF grants to enable timely monthly disbursements to take place.
2. To ensure that calls are scheduled with each grantee due a disbursement in each month.
3. To support the team with reconciling spend evidence.
4. To undertake these calls with each grantee, checking the figures they have shared through the grantee community in Salesforce, updating these figures diligently and accurately.
5. To collect additional information on the progress of each grantee’s capital project, updating relevant fields in Salesforce diligently and accurately.
6. To collate all relevant updates from each month’s calls, and share this reporting with the Senior Relationship Manager and Head of Property Funding to enable accurate cross-checking with the finance team and timely reporting to DCMS.
7. To manage the customer inbox on a daily basis and respond to enquiries from customers using guidance notes and where necessary escalating queries to the YIF Admin Team Leader in the first instance.
8. To maintain grantee tasks in Salesforce and ensure that Relationship Managers are aware of any actions that have arisen from monthly calls.
9. To provide support where necessary to external Relationship Managers.
10. To support general administrative coordination across approved grants, most particularly those relating to disbursements, data input, data checking and task management.
11. To work within the organisation's values, principles and processes to achieve operational excellence.
