Deafblind UK has received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver its Community Sensory Connections project across Northern Ireland.This three-year project is a collaboration with Libraries NI to create accessible information hubs for people with sensory loss across the region. The hubs, which will be within libraries and mobile libraries, will be accessible places where members of the community can be connected to support services from Deafblind UK and other local and national partner organisations.

We are looking to recruit a part-time Sensory Project Officer to work alongside the existing Northern Ireland team members, to promote the project, liaise with our partner organisations and to support individuals wishing to take up sensory support services, connecting people to accessible local social opportunities and the services that Deafblind UK and other organisations provide.

We are looking for someone who can excel at networking and communication, with organisations and individuals, who has experience of using their own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work.

The post holder will become an active member of the Charitable Services team, promoting the delivery of accessible social opportunities and other support services in our local N.I. communities. The main tasks delivered to achieve this will be:

• To work closely with the existing N. Ireland team to promote the Community Sensory Connections project;
• To support the plan to develop sensory info hubs within local libraries and mobile library units;
• To help gather local information on relevant services and opportunities and to help the project team to maintain an up-to-date archive of these;
• To help local people with sensory loss to connect to the services and support that can best assist them;
• To develop and maintain a wide network of connections to key partner organisations in order to promote the work of Deafblind UK;
• To represent Deafblind UK and its members at local events, within online meetings and forums and to promote the service and generate service user referrals;
• To help to promote accessibility, inclusion and sensory loss awareness within our local communities.

A Bit about Us:

WellChild, based in the centre of Cheltenham, is the national charity for children with complex medical needs and their families. We fund programmes and services to make it possible for children and young people living with serious illness to be cared for at home instead of hospital.

The WellChild Family Tree is a growing network that exists to connect families across the UK caring for a child with complex health needs with each other and with WellChild. Through its online forum, and programme of activities and communications, it provides members with the opportunity to make friends, make memories and make a change.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised person to join us as our Family Information Officer as part of our Family Team. Working alongside the Family Programme Team and wider Programmes Team, this role will fill a critical information gap for the families that WellChild supports and will help the charity attract new and harder to reach families into the WellChild Family Tree network.

Through becoming familiar with relevant policy and guidance for families caring for children with complex medical needs, you will be able to help identify the key issues facing our families and then curate the most relevant, up to date information from a variety of expert sources to help support them whilst also taking the lead on information projects aimed at helping families to thrive at home.

Purpose of the role:

Families thrust into a world of disability and complex care find themselves having to navigate their way through a ‘new normal’ with nowhere to go for relevant information and advice. The result leaves many unaware of their entitlements or the help that might be available. This puts many families under extreme pressure, leading to financial hardship, family breakdowns and emotional strain.

Working within the Family Team and reporting to the Family Programme Manager, this role will continue to develop and expand WellChild’s information provision. This will be achieved through research and delivery of information, tools and advice for families on subjects such as, but not limited to health, legal rights and entitlements, wellbeing and local services.

There are two key parts to this role:

■Identifying key issues/challenges:-

Work with other members of the Family Team and wider Programmes Team to listen and identify common themes and challenges being raised and discussed in the WellChild Family Tree forum; WellChild Nurse network and with other key stakeholders.

■Information Development & Delivery:-

Develop an information/content plan covering a variety of family relevant subjects, focused on the key issues/ challenges & themes raised. Delivering information in a variety of mechanisms designed to engage with families and attract new, harder to reach families.

You will also be expected to provide content for the WellChild Family Tree online forum, create and deliver family workshops based on the resources you create, and develop appropriate monitoring, evaluation, and reporting methods to demonstrate the impact of the information articles and WellChild information hub. You will also be expected to support the development and moderation of a new interactive directory of services for families. Throughout your work you will embed safeguarding processes and policies to keep families safe.

You will be able to:

■Demonstrate recent experience of producing information for vulnerable people with excellent writing and editing skills

■Demonstrate experience in generating and analysing research information

■Confidently use digital and social media channels to communicate to target audiences

■Produce content in a variety of formats; maximising opportunities to engage harder to reach and more diverse families.

■Demonstrate excellent attention to detail

■Demonstrate commitment and ability for strong team working

■Effectively prioritise and work calmly under pressure

■Collaborate with other teams across the organisation such as Comms & Fundraising to maximise promotion of the information hub, In Your Area and events.

You will have:

Purpose of your Job:

This is an exciting new role at Centre 33 and will play a key role to support the advancement and successful implementation of an operational plan to fundraise across Corporate and Community opportunities.

We would like to hear from ambitious fundraisers who have experience in these income streams, maybe as a team member, who is looking for the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge further within Centre 33’s growing Fundraising department. The role holder will work closely with the Development & Partnerships Lead and Director of Development & Partnerships to help create an operational plan and will then have ownership of delivering the plan and the associated income target. This will include identifying opportunities, creating cases for support, and arranging engaging and productive events for existing and potential partners. There will also be the opportunity to feed into the Communications team on external campaigns that the charity develops to build awareness and showcase Centre 33’s amazing work, including an upcoming capital appeal. You will also work closely with the Operations and Finance teams to understand the charity’s services and funding needs, and to ensure timely sharing of programme information to facilitate funding applications and reporting to existing grant holders. You will support the Development & Partnerships Lead and other team members with Trust and Foundation applications and other fundraising activities as required.

You will be confident establishing new and growing existing meaningful relationships and will maintain clear records of progress in our CRM (Donorfy). Working with colleagues across the organisation, you will prepare high-quality communications, proposals and pitches which demonstrate our deep understanding of young people’s needs and help us to successfully meet our fundraising goals.

At SSAFA Safeguarding is everybody’s business. This means that as awareness grows and with it the demand for additional support from those supporting our beneficiaries, we need to ensure the right level of support across the charity for those dealing with complex situations involving safeguarding concerns. We are therefore looking for an experienced social worker to work with our Head of Safeguarding and Social Work Services as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and help develop our response to Safeguarding concerns across the organisation.

In addition to this we would like the successful individual to provide social work support to our Stepping Stone’s home on a regular basis, supporting those women and children who have survived Domestic Abuse to move forward with their lives.

Your key responsibilities will include;

• Working with the Head of Safeguarding and Social Work Services to manage safeguarding issues raised within SSAFA or related to its work, and ensure the appropriate recording of concerns, decision making and referrals. 
• Providing expert advice to the Organisation, employees and volunteers ensuring best practice in embedded into all new and existing policy and guidance.
• Ensuring that the Safeguarding Policy is adhered to across the organisation.
• Undertaking audits across the organisation into safeguarding practice and making recommendations based on the outcomes.
• Providing social work support to the beneficiaries of our Stepping Stones refuge, including maintaining case records and regular reports to the Director of Social Care Operations.

YMCA DownsLink Group is looking for a Building Surveyor to join the Asset Management team. This is a new role in our structure, playing a key part in delivering capital investment programme in line with the business plan – whilst working closely with other members of the team to ensure we maintain compliance and maintenance. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic individual to make this role their own.

As part of the Asset Management team restructure, we have identified a need for a Building Surveyor to assist the Head of Asset Management to deliver Capital Investment programme. By bringing these skills in house, it is hoped to create a more dynamic role with the benefit of ability to oversee upcoming works and provide additional resources to areas we need additional expertise such as dilapidations, disrepair, HHSRS and damp and mould.

You will be involved in the specification writing process (unless specialist consultancy is required) and lead the procurement to ensure we are OJEU compliant in our appointment of the appropriate contractor. You will lead on the delivery of capital investment programme, ensuring planned works are appropriately procured to ensure value for money and adequately experienced/qualified contractors deliver works. You will also undertake and maintain stock condition surveys, undertake building surveys to complete dilapidations, complex repair scoping of works (and specification writing – where appropriate), disrepair, damp and mould inspections (more complex cases) and provision of technical expertise in absence of Head of Asset Management. In addition, you will support colleagues across the business to empower them to confidently make low level decisions themselves.

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in fundraising to identify major donor prospects and opportunities to maximise donor experience – such as work with Supporter Engagement and the Community Fundraising team.

THE CHARITY  

Unfold is led by the people we serve, and we get people where they want to be. We’re a bold, agile and growing organization, with a friendly, energetic and welcoming team. As an established local charity, we’re powered by volunteers who support young people and families to identify and achieve goals that matter to them. We provide mentoring and peer support groups to people in Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and the neighbouring boroughs.  

We’re open to everyone, but we target those who face the most challenges: 93% of the people we work with describe themselves as coming from a racialized group, 85% of the families we support are single-parent households headed by a woman, and 75% of the children we support are eligible for free school meals. We also run specialized programmes of support for people seeking asylum and those with refugee status. Last year we provided one-to-one mentoring to over 246 people, and group support to a further 252 people. With increasing demand for our services, we expect to provide direct support to over 350 individuals in the coming year.  

In our programme of support for parents, we have two primary programmes, a ‘Mentoring for Mothers’, for women with children aged 5+, which aims to improve well-being, confidence, connectedness and reduce loneliness. We also run Women’s Support Groups, which are friendly, relaxed spaces for women to meet, socialise, share challenges, offer support to one another and find out about services that meet their needs.  

POSITION SUMMARY  

In partnership with the local authority, Unfold is developing a new programme in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in support of the families who have been made homeless or are at risk of homelessness who are accommodated in Bed & Breakfast and commercial hotels, within and outside of the borough. Collaborating with local family services and public health team, Unfold will offer  

• Outreach to families in hotels and B&Bs  
• Women’s Support Group  
• Mentoring for five women  

As an Outreach & Programme Coordinator Officer, you will be visiting the families and carrying out a screening to identify priority needs for appropriate signposting and connecting the families back to local services in Kensington & Chelsea. Part of the role will be to set up and run a weekly Women’s Support Group aiming to support the families build connections and find about further services in Kensington & Chelsea or in their new areas. Mentoring is part of the support women will be able to access, and as the Outreach & Programme Coordinator Officer you will be identifying women who are ready to engage in mentoring and working with Unfold colleagues to match them with a mentor, supporting mentoring pairs in their time together.  

At Unfold, we work with people with different needs, ages, and backgrounds, so the right person for this role needs to be a great communicator, enjoys connecting with people, has empathy and understands the challenges families face in temporary accommodation arrangements.  

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Outreach

• Create a plan for visiting on a regular basis all Bed & Breakfast and commercial hotels in five main London boroughs where families have been placed.  
• Act as a friendly face who families will trust, building recognition and local knowledge.  
• Conduct an initial screening on location to summarise the families’ – both parents and children presenting circumstances.  
• Following project referral pathways, share findings of the screening with partner services in Kensington and Chelsea, ensuring that appropriate services are notified.  
• Assist families to engage with family support services in Kensington & Chelsea.  
• Assist families to access local services in the borough the hotel is located within if appropriate. 
• Signpost to local wellbeing activities to meet needs identified by the family, taking into consideration their specific needs and interests.  
• Update appropriate resources and signposting materials.  
• Identify risks and escalate them in a timely manner to appropriate services.  

Women’s Support Group Facilitation & Coordination  

• With the support of the Programme Manager, set up and coordinate one weekly Women’s Support Group, following Unfold’s peer support model.  
• Create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere so that members feel at ease and able to determine group activities.
• Conduct monitoring of the WSG, including new member registration and attendance.  
• Coordinate resources and materials needed for the smooth running of the sessions and signposting.  
• Plan groups to meet the needs of members, with lively and engaging sessions in response to needs of group members, coordinating visits from external partners in health, wellbeing, culture and arts.  
• Be proactive in outreach and communications to the group, maximising participation and ensuring that everyone feels welcome.  

Mentoring Support  

• Promote mentoring to women in hotels and B&Bs, so that they’re aware of the benefits and feel they can take up the offer when they’re ready.  
• Identify and onboard participants who are ready for mentoring.  
• Organise and run assessment and matching sessions for five women, periodically reviewing with mentors and mentees.  
• Support mentors to connect mentees with services and activities that meet their needs, using knowledge of local services  
• Ensure all participants are aware of and follow safeguarding measures in line with Unfold’s policies.  
• Provide ongoing support to volunteers to help them flourish as mentors responding to any questions and concerns.  
• Support in the delivery of virtual and in-person mentor training and monthly supervision sessions.  
• Make sure our monitoring systems are being used as intended providing support to mentors and mentees as needed.  

Administrative Support  

• Manage cases with Beacon, our CRM system, making sure all the data is inputted correctly and is up-to-date.  

Other Duties and Responsibilities  

• Participate in regular management supervision, team meetings and annual appraisal; help to identify your own job-related development and training needs.

About the role:

We are looking for a Head of Corporate Fundraising who will drive the organisation’s fundraising revenue by looking for opportunities to optimise and grow. You will use data, insight and subject matter expertise to inform strategy and deliver the corporate fundraising strategy.

As we continue on our transformative journey, an opportunity has arisen to join the Tudor Trust as the Head of Finance and Operations. You will provide direction to our financial strategy and management of the organisation, ensuring sustainable growth and financial health.

You will be part of the senior leadership team (SLT), making an active contribution to the strategic direction, planning and leadership of Tudor Trust in collaboration with the wider team. You will be pro-active in your delivery; model our behaviours and ensure racial and social justice are at the centre of everything we do.

For the last 18 months, the post has been held by an Interim, who has successfully brought our financial and governance processes and systems up to date and in line with best practice.  The opportunity for a new Head of Finance is to work with these systems, whilst also supporting the CEO to develop the finance, investment and governance functions in line with the developing strategy.

About the role

The Head of Finance and Operations will be responsible for all finance support including budgeting, reporting, financial planning, managing risk and liaising with external auditors as well as advising senior management on fiscal strategy, while fostering a culture of financial accountability and continuous process improvement.  

As a senior manager within Tudor Trust, you will actively contribute to the broader goals and ambition of the charity. You will work closely with the chief executive and board of trustees.  This includes acting as Company Secretary and working particularly closely with trustees and sub-committees focused on all aspects of investment and finance.
