Responsibilities of our Community Fundraising Volunteer Team Leader:

• To recruit, develop, retain and support a diverse team of volunteers to enhance community fundraising activities and income generating opportunities.

The Role

What we need from you

Ideally, you'll have significant experience and expertise in the Community Investment sector gained from working in a similar role.

You'll need excellent partnership skills, a focus on delivering social impact, ability to identify opportunities for fundraising and programme development and commitment to customer service with the confidence to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. You'll also have:

• A proven track record of positive stakeholder engagement and relationship management, both internally and externally
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written, tailored to a range of audiences
• Strong organisational and project management skills
• Experience of quality assurance of projects, including monitoring and evaluation systems
• Confidence with budget management and financial systems

ABOUT US

The Scottish Rainforest Centre (SRC) was established as a Scottish charity (SCIO) in 2022 to develop a Rainforest Centre. The SRC will be an education and accommodation hub providing access and educational and research opportunities for people to visit the rainforest and get involved in its preservation and restoration.

THE ROLE

The SRC’s aim is to become a centre of scientific excellence and research within the rainforest zone, supporting scientists, researchers and volunteers working on rainforest regeneration and providing an affordable base for their field work and research. Embedded in the local community, the SRC will work closely with project partners, providing opportunities for local people, schools and disadvantaged groups to provide skills development and training opportunities.

The SRC Development Officer will work closely with and report to the SRC Managing Trustee to realise the aims and objectives of the Centre and liaise closely with other project staff on the National Lottery Heritage funded Building capacity to save Scotland’s Rainforest project.

As part of the development stage for the Building capacity project you will develop an events and engagement programme which provides opportunities for users to engage with the SRC, particularly schools and disadvantaged groups. You will work with local communities and partner organisations to develop rural skills development and learning opportunities, and build the confidence of practitioners and group leaders to use the site for education purposes.

The position will be home based with a willingness to travel.

This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week), 15-month, fixed-term position. Should our funding bid for the subsequent five-year ‘delivery’ phase be successful, we hope the CDO will remain in post to support the delivery of these plans.

THE CANDIDATE
You will have experience building relationships with a range of stakeholders including community organisations and are comfortable collaborating and engaging effectively for different outcomes e.g. learning, consultation or facilitation.

You will have the confidence to liaise with environmental organisations, academic institutions and other stakeholders to help develop monitoring and research opportunities at the SRC.

You will be able to confidently organise and deliver a range of events from online webinars to community gatherings; have working knowledge of using social media for marketing, capturing interesting content and writing engaging stories, and you’ll be happy self-managing a diverse and varied workload.

Plus you’ll have experience working as part of a project team, supporting funding bids, budgeting for, and reporting on the impact of your activity. Oh and have a genuine interest in Scotland’s rainforest of course!

A full UK driving licence is required so you can travel across the west coast when required. Access to your own vehicle would be ideal.

Why Access Social Care Exists 

Every day millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, and none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us - we will all need social care at some point in our lives.

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account, but most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 92% drop in legal aid cases since 2010 means that we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.   

What we do 

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.We work to increase the number of people who choose a career in community care law, and support those already in the profession to ensure they are well-supported and their work is properly funded.

With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers provide access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded and we all get the support we need.   

We provide rights awareness training to front line managers, and legal advice and support to families and individuals. As well as providing access to justice, our aim is to drive system level change through evidence-led influencing and strategic casework. We operate our casework service mainly under a membership model where organisations involved in the social care sector contract with Access Social Care to provide legal assistance to their clients.

About the role

A key part of Access Social Care’s work is our Career Pathway programme which aims to address the national shortage of specialist community care lawyers.  We are doing this through:

• Strengthening our internal infrastructure and developing our internal career pathway pipeline. 
• Expanding our work with academic settings to attract more people into the profession building on our student clinic pilots to draft course content and run summer internships.  
• Working internally and with the wider sector to improve retention of specialist lawyers and expand our work influencing the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) to improve sustainability of community care legal aid practices.  

 We want you to:

-Provide administrative support to the projects within the Career Pathway programme.

-Work with internal and external stakeholders to arrange and co-ordinate events.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate task scheduling and resource management for the Career Pathway projects, including handling diary management.
• Update and maintain project records and documentation, including updating risks and tracking progress against milestones.
• Work with the Career Pathway Project Manager and other team members to collect and organise data required for generating both internal and external reports.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including responding to enquiries and scheduling training sessions.
• Assist in event planning, including recording event data, sourcing suppliers and communicating with attendees.
• Provide general assistance in organising meetings including setting agendas and taking minutes.
• Coordinate and facilitate online and hybrid events.
• Undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be required or asked of you in order to respond to organisational needs and specific needs within the legal team.

Salary: £31,500 - £35,000 (35 hours FTE) depending on experience

Hours: Full Time (35 hrs per week)

Place of work: Remote/Hybrid/Flexible with a requirement to attend our offices in Hatfield, Herts, approximately twice a month and for 4 x All staff days per year.

As we seek to scale and take our owned mass participation events to the next level, we are excited to be inviting applications for a new Events Fundraising Officer to join our growing Community & Events fundraising team.

Do you have experience and a passion for developing unique and engaging events, designed to provide a platform for people to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that is close to their hearts? Do you enjoy finding new and unique ways to attract participants, reaching those hard-to-reach people through creativity and innovation? Are you committed to providing the best possible supporter experience for people taking part in the events you have lovingly curated and created?

You would be joining a passionate, bold, talented team, harnessing your skills of designing and delivering exceptional, engaging events (whether virtually or in-person).

About you:

We’re looking for an experienced events fundraiser, with a flair for project management and the end-to-end development and delivery of events.

You’ll be a confident communicator with strong marketing experience and focused on exceptional supporter experience whilst being accomplished at building great relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Combined with excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities whilst keeping to deadlines, you’ll bring your knowledge, creativity and new ideas to help continue to shape the future of our Mass Participation challenge events team.

You will be adept at using data and insight to identify potential areas of growth and be a proactive self-starter, responsible for the complete event cycle of the events you manage and be comfortable analysing performance and making recommendations for change where necessary.
