What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Communications Coordinator

Communications is an essential part of LAFF’s work as a means of creating long term relationships with supporters. As the Communications Coordinator, you will play a key role in fostering new relationships and maintaining existing ones. 

You will focus on informing our communities of relevant news from LAFF, our partners, and Peru. Your independent research skills and innovation will see you collaborate with all of LAFF’s team to collect and present information. You will also work closely with Fundraising to develop campaigns and tailor communications to specific audiences.

LAFF’s mission of supporting access to education through partnership with local organisations means that you will work closely with partners to get updates and new material. LAFF believes in celebrating progress and raising awareness, and not exploiting vulnerable personal circumstances in our communications. You will ensure that all visual and written media complies with our Brand Guidelines and does not engage with ‘poverty porn’. Your success in this position will rely on your understanding of the socio-economic problems in Peru that affect LAFF’s beneficiaries, and your ability to effectively communicate the importance of LAFF’s work and progress.

Objectives of this Role

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Communications Coordinator will be expected to carry out the following tasks: 

1. Manage all of LAFF’s communications 

2. Produce and disseminate high quality electronic communication regarding LAFF’s activities.

3. Provide semi-monthly and monthly reports on social media performance

4. Collaborate with LAFF’s Fundraising Coordinator to build relationships with donors, identify new funding opportunities and launch effective online campaigns

5. Maximize and update LAFF’s communications strategy

6. Maintain and strengthen LAFF’s online presence

7. Write and publish articles to raise awareness of thematic issues central to the aims of LAFF

8. Support the marketing efforts of our partners’ social enterprises

9. Ensure that communication practices reflect LAFF’s priorities, mission and vision

10. Network and strengthen the social media strategy to link LAFF with other stakeholders and organizations (including NGOs, donors, companies, universities and other supporters) to ensure continued support for existing and new initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field (Communications, Languages, International Relations) or experience working in a communications role

• Volunteering experience and/or work experience in Communications, PR, Journalism, Education and International Development highly desirable

• Intermediate or advanced Spanish skills

• Experience with/good knowledge of different social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter)

• Proficient in graphic design and formatting tools such as Canva and Adobe InDesign

• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

• Interest in acquiring communications and International Development experience

• Highly organized, flexible, independent, culturally sensitive and detail oriented with the ability to multitask

• Good knowledge of GSuite

Personal Qualities

We are looking for a motivated individual who is able to work individually and as part of a team. The Communications Coordinator position requires a proactive attitude and attention to detail to collect relevant information across the full team to update donors and LAFF’s online community. Time management is key so that deadlines are met in time for feedback to be incorporated before publishing communications. A creative mindset will engage LAFF’s community with new and interesting communications, whilst analytical thinking is also important for maintaining a consistency in external communications and social media posts. The right candidate will understand LAFF’s mission and reflect this in the voice and message they use when designing content.

About Latin American Foundation for the Future
The Latin American foundation for the Future (LAFF) is a UK-based charity supporting marginalised children and young people in Peru. We work through local partner organisations in Cusco and support activities and projects in the areas of formal education; vocational skills and personal development; sustainability, including income generation, cost reduction and capacity building. Citadel Volunteer Role Description 

Role Title: Citadel Volunteer Reporting To: Citadel Coordinator 

What is Citadel? 

Citadel is a project that matches people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness with local community volunteers. Volunteers and the person they support normally meet once a week, to share a coffee, a conversation, a helping hand or a sympathetic ear.

Is that it? Well, sort of… 

Citadel is just this, and yet SO MUCH more.

The word citadel literally means a ‘fortress 'or ‘stronghold’. The aim of the project is for people to find that ‘stronghold’ within the community and within themselves. By bringing together people who have experienced homelessness with volunteers.

The Citadel Volunteer may provide support with some, or all, of the following: 

• Emotional support - just being there to listen and share stories and experiences. 

• Connecting with the community - this could be through a community group, a club, a sport, a hobby, or just spending time in a local café. We love volunteers to bring their own passions and community connections with them to Citadel and to help the people they support to find or nurture theirs! 

• Support with finding a home – in some cases our volunteers help those in short term housing find their next step. This could be going along to house viewings or helping liaise with housing providers.

• Support in making a house a home - Sourcing household items and furniture, help with moving or DIY and maintenance.

• Support with keeping a home – by helping with budgeting, setting up utility accounts or understanding a tenancy and liaising with a landlord for example.  

You may help with some or all these areas, but you do not need to be an expert at any of them and will receive support and training from your Citadel Coordinator.  If you feel you have a specialism or excel in one of these areas, let us know - we can find a position that suits you! 

Application

• You will be invited to fill in an application form. After your application has been processed and references accepted, you will be contacted by the coordinator with next steps.

• You will need to complete a DBS check – the coordinator will send this information to you.

• You will meet with your Coordinator – this is a great opportunity to find out more about the service and the people we support and ask any questions. 

Induction and Training

• You will be given a full induction to Citadel and adequate training before meeting the person you’ll support.  This training includes Lone working, Professional Boundaries and understanding trauma. 

• Safeguarding training is mandatory and will need to be completed before you volunteer with us  - this protects everyone involved in the project.

• We would also like to hear from you about any further training you would feel would be beneficial. Talk to your Coordinator if there is anything specific that would help you. 

• Regular training will continue whilst you volunteer with Citadel – this will be available online and face to face.

 Support & Supervision  

• After the first meeting with the person you support, your Coordinator will check in with you to make sure you are happy with the match and address any concerns. 

• Following this, you will be required to attend supervision sessions bi-monthly. These will be facilitated by the Citadel Coordinator.

• If you are unable to attend, please let the Citadel Coordinator know and alternative arrangements can be made.

Commitment

• The nature of the Citadel Volunteer role is to develop a relationship within which support can be offered to the individual. You are expected to commit to the relationship for between 3-6 months (this can be shorter or longer). We ask that you commit to at least 1 hour per week.

• The time and duration of meetings will be negotiated between you and the individual.

• It is expected that you will meet on a weekly basis.

• If you can volunteer for more hours each week, you may be matched with more than one client – please discuss this with your Coordinator.

• If you are interested in volunteering in a more specific role, for example organising events, please do speak to your Coordinator so this can be considered and further explored.

 VOLUNTEER ROLE BRANCH  SECRETARY

 RSPCA Darlington & District Branch  are looking for a Volunteer to become the Branch  Secretary to run the Branch alongside our committee of Trustees.

Overview of the Branch Secretary opportunity

If you have all of the above  then you could become  our principal communications trustee in the role of Branch Secretary, and help us to maintain our branch affairs and support us in improving animal welfare in our area and the work of our local Inspectors as they focus on animals who suffer from abuse, cruelty and neglect. Through your excellent administration and communication skills, you would need to be able to have oversight of our finances, fundraising events and face book page. You would also need to coordinate our work in providing education to small groups in the community when requested,  oversee the distribution of food to local animal food banks, support the  employment of our staff in the cat hub .

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Secretary

• You will also  act as the primary contact point for all branch communications with the National Society, the branch committee and the branch membership
• You will arrange branch meetings ensure accurate minutes are taken and distributed in accordance with branch rules
• You will ensure all branch committee decisions are implemented and actions completed
• You will  work with the membership secretary  to arrange the branch AGM including the compilation and distribution of the annual report, nominations and agenda in line with strict timetable laid down in the branch rules.
• You will ensure  the timely dissemination of the contents of all correspondence and literature received by the branch, ensuring availability to all committee members and reply to all branch correspondence when necessary.
• Be responsible for the ordering and distribution of  RSPCA stationery, leaflets, posters and other fundraising and promotional material when required.
• You will liaise  with the Branch Partnership Manager (BPM) and group Chief Inspector and notify them of all Branch meetings.
• Be aware of the outcome of Regional Board meetings and support regional activities.
• Actively promote and advertise the Society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch Trustees and Volunteers and welcome new members as and when needed.
•  In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch.
• Manage Branch, Trustees and Volunteer activities.
• You will advise the BPM of all changes to Branch facilities, services and contact details
• In the absence of a Membership Secretary resume responsibility of the Branch Membership list
• Submit recommendations for National Society Awards to the BPM, in accordance with the wishes of the committee
• You will need to complete an RSPCA application form and we will require 2 references

 As a minimum, all trustees would normally be expected to attend  four - six weekly committee meetings which last about 2 hours, however the commitment may vary depending upon need.

As a Branch Secretary you would also be required to become a Branch Trustee and a Member of the RSPCA National Society.

Practical considerations

• Please also note that to become a Trustee, you will need to be aged 18 or over and a member of our branch for three months before you are eligible to be elected.
• Membership fees are for a Single adult. £24 (Per Year) 18 years old or over.
• Trustees are elected for a 12-month term each year.
• Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
• Trustees must sign a Trustee Declaration of Willingness to Act to clarify that they are not disqualified from being a trustee and read the Charity Commission’s guidelines for individuals on who cannot be a trustee or senior manager of a charity.
•  References will also be required.

About the RSPCA

Founded in 1824 we have been saving animals for 200 years and are proud to be the oldest animal welfare charity around. The RSPCA Darlington & District Branch

The RSPCA Darlington & District Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which are run by volunteers and trustees who have the support of the Nation Society of the RSPCA.

What we are looking for in a Volunteer

Above all, we are looking for someone who is committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objectives and shares our passion for animal welfare and the work the Branch carries out.

Specific skills such as finance, fundraising, project management, business experience, awareness of employment and charity legislation can be useful.

You will need to be able to work with people and have good interpersonal skills.  You do not need to be an expert, although commitment, common sense and the ability to be objective are vital.

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

Chiang Rai. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in international team leadership,

coordination of center activities, and engagement with the local community.

Secretary/Trustee

Who we are:

We are a long-standing (33 years) local charity, based in Ashford, providing friendly advice, companionship and volunteering opportunities for anyone in our part of Kent who is socially isolated, lonely, or would welcome support with their mental health and wellbeing. We arrange 3 free drop-in sessions per week at Ashford Parish Rooms, at which our service users participate in a wide range of activities including crafts, singing and art therapy. We also offer food and beverages from our pop-up healthy eating café and dedicated door-to-door transport where required.

Due to an upcoming retirement we are now seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. 

About the Role:

The Secretary will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of meetings of the Trustee Board, providing assistance and support to the Chair. They will also be involved in monitoring compliance to the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the charity and its activities, and ensuring that the Trustees’ decisions are acted upon and that all decisions made by the Trustees are in accordance with the governing document, reflect the objects of the charity, and continue to provide public benefit. They will liaise with the Chair and the charity team to ensure that events such as the AGM and Trustee Board meeting are scheduled and administered, with accurate minutes taken and circulated and agreed action points implemented.

It is expected that all Trustees will be able to attend our Trustee meetings in Ashford, which are held at least once a quarter, as well as the AGM and ideally a small number of other functions eg fundraising events.

Skills & Experience:

A unique volunteering opportunity to volunteer at Acorns Three Counties Hospice Garden Fete on Sunday 22nd September. 

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £10 million a year to run our care services.

 Various roles available including - supporting running stall and games, serving refreshments and setting up and taking down gazebos.

This event is a unique opportunity to spend time in the hospice's beautiful gardens.  

The event will be opened by TV star and Gladiator Diamond. There will be games and stalls along with music, food and refreshments. 

Music will be provided by the fantastic Pershore Ukelele Group, we will have fun carnival-style games and entertainment, balloon-making, face-painting, glitter tattoos and hair braiding.   

There will be a range of stalls from toy and book to plants. have a go on our gift tombola and play our raffle for some fantastic prizes.

How much time will it take?

10am – 5pm either for the whole event or a few hours - with a variety of roles available 

Parking will be available on site or nearby for volunteers

All volunteers will receive hot drinks free of charge.

We are seeking a new Treasurer to join OY current board to provide high level oversight of the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.

 As a Treasurer you will have:

• Experience as a finance professional with a good understanding of business and financial planning, and financial management
• A good knowledge and experience in fundraising and finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations (this is not essential) 
• Good financial analysis skills
• Experience in advising others on financial matters, and being prepared to ask good questions that enable the board to have solid insight into the organisation's financial picture
• An ability to have strategic financial oversight without stepping on the toes of the finance executive - the Head of Finance

As a Group Leader at Youth Challenge Oxfordshire (YoCO), you will play a key role in guiding and supporting young people through our 18-month program. This involves leading weekly 2-hour sessions in Faringdon, creating a safe and engaging environment, and driving personal development.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a 2-hour weekly session during term time, following YoCO’s unique programme: ME (self-awareness), US (group dynamics), and THEM (community & global causes).
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and fun environment, supporting the personal development of all group members.
• Plan fundraising activities alongside your group and the YoCO support team, and attend events (some may be on weekends).
• Lead the group on a 5-day UK residential trip organized by YoCO.
• Regularly update YoCO staff on the group’s progress and address any issues.
• Attend an induction with the Group Manager, complete a DBS check, and receive First Aid and Safeguarding training (funded by YoCO).

Volunteer Role

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team at the IHF Indonesia Center in

Jakarta. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in international team leadership,

coordination of center activities, and engagement with the local community.

What We Offer

● Potential Employment: After one year of successfully completing the GLD

training, volunteers may be considered for employment positions within the

Overview

IHF, an award-winning International Non-profit established in 2001, is on a mission to (1)

educate impoverished children, igniting their highest potential and fostering loving, healthy

communities, and (2) enlighten global citizens through hands-on experiences, both online and in

person. We provide a platform for learning and practicing leadership skills, welcoming

participants from kindergarten to retirement age.

Join our IHF Indonesia Center for the Global Leadership Development (GLD) program and

The Role

As a GLD participant, you'll engage in four hours of local on-site tasks in addition to four hours

per day as a member of various International Online Teams. Your local tasks may include, but

children, teens, and university students

Eligibility

The program calls for a college diploma or university degree and a minimum commitment of

four months, although we encourage volunteers to stay for up to one year. All volunteers enjoy

one day off per week and a four-day holiday per month.
