Help us deliver our Vision of a Midlands Region where no one goes hungry and where children don’t go to school on an empty stomach
Last year, our food helped over 500 frontline charities and community groups across the Midlands to provide 13 million meals.
FareShare Midlands (FSM) is the region’s largest food redistribution charity. We take good-to-eat surplus food from the food industry and get it to our Members - frontline charities and community groups all over the Midlands. We turn an environmental problem into a social solution.
Last year we redistributed almost 5,794 tonnes of food from our warehouses in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham. It is sorted and stored by our dedicated teams of staff and volunteers, and then redistributed to around 800 Members including food pantries and cafes, homeless shelters and drop-in centres.
These local organisations turn the food into food parcels, affordable shopping and delicious meals for people of all ages. As well as food, our Members provide vital support to families and the elderly, many of whom are facing challenging circumstances and living in poverty.
Last year our food reached more than 83,000 vulnerable people every week, providing 13 million meals. At the same time, we are growing our Employability Programmes to help people gain work experience, skills and jobs.

The Role
Our Trustees set the strategic direction for the organisation, ensuring alignment to our values and are responsible for setting organisational strategy, policy, defining goals, agreeing the financial plan and evaluating performance.
We are looking for you to bring your life experience, insight, expertise and skills together with the enthusiasm and commitment to helping to reduce food insecurity and unnecessary food waste. You will have a passion for the work we do, have an understanding of poverty and inequality and a commitment to our values around a fairer and more equal society.
We welcome applicants who have little or no Trustee experience but a strong desire to be part of a force for good and helping to create lasting change. An inquisitive mind and confidence to interrogate information provided to you by the Leadership Team.
It is imperative for us to have a board which reflects a range of backgrounds and identities and, most importantly, represents the people we exist to support, as we believe that such increased diversity will improve our creativity and decision making.
We welcome applications from anyone enthusiastic and interested about the work we do and a desire to help us create lasting change through the work that we do. You will work with our existing board of trustees and our Chief Executive who are ably supported by a Senior Management team as well as our staff and volunteers who all share a passion to make a difference for those who need the food we distribute.
The Commitment
The trustee board meets quarterly (January, April, July and October). Meetings are usually on a Saturday morning and last for 2-3 hours, often remotely. Plus one strategy day/board development day per year. Generally, board members have the opportunity to be part of or chair a committee too.

Main duties of the role
· Hold a portfolio of work across a range of resourcing areas for the charity.
· Collaborate closely with the Head of Resources, providing information, insight, and guidance for the effective delivery of key strategy objectives across finance, HR, Governance, fundraising and IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance
· To provide financial information including management accounts with analysis, forecasting and insightful commentary to internal and external stakeholders.
· To support the annual budgeting process.
· To maintain financial procedures and controls.
· To support managers to make decisions based on forecasts and budgets, providing challenge and financial expertise where necessary.
HR
· Undertake and deliver all HR transactional administration including recruitment, selection, appointment, induction and exit interviews.
· Support production of HR reporting to Senior Management Team and Trustees on a regular basis including staff sickness, diversity, complaints, grievances, disciplinary, turn-over, training, appraisal etc.
· Support Head of Resources on welfare support to staff to include internal promotion of staff benefits and liaison with external providers.
Governance
· Support the preparation and circulation of Board meeting papers and packs.
· Provide organisational and administrative support to the Senior Management Team and be the single point of contact for the Trustees.
Other Duties
· Assist as required with the co-ordination of YSS events.
· To take responsibility for keeping own knowledge up to date on relevant legislation and strategies that affect YSS services.
· To understand and actively promote the vision, values and profile of YSS.
· To uphold the highest standards of professionalism at all times, ensuring that EDI principles are adhered to.
· To maintain continuity of cover for holidays and sickness.
· To ensure all work is carried out in a safe and appropriate manner and in accordance with YSS policies and procedures e.g. lone working, health and safety, child and adult protection, risk, confidentiality etc.
· To undertake any other tasks of a similar level of responsibility as requested by the Head of Resources.

Home start West Berkshire is looking to recruit 2 or 3 new Trustees to join our Board. We have been supporting families in West Berkshire since 1997 using a volunteer model that allows us to reach families with children under five at what can be a difficult and stressful time. Home-Start West Berkshire is a registered charity, a company limited by guarantee and a member of the Home-Start UK federation. Our trustees are responsible for setting strategy, monitoring performance, ensuring that the Charity is financially sound, and ensuring that we meet all legal and regulatory requirements in the delivery of our mission.
What we do.
We provide support for families with children aged 0 to 5 who may be facing physical or emotional issues and who are finding the challenge of bringing up young children overwhelming. By offering support to families through their toughest times we ensure that parents have the support they need to give their children the best start in life. Home-Start’s ethos is to empower and enable, allowing families to develop self-resilience and confidence in their ability to cope with challenging situations and integrate more within their own communities.
How We Do It.
Using a volunteer led model, we provide support to parents through home visits, family and post natal depression groups and a baby bank. A nurturing and caring culture is central to our work. Our volunteers are invited in to their homes by families, building empathy and trust to help provide community centred, accessible, non-judgmental relational support. We believe that engaging and embracing a broad spectrum of diverse lived experience is fundamental to our shared learning experience. Our trustees, staff and volunteers are committed to living and learning the values and behaviours which best facilitate this approach.
The commitment.
Our board of trustees meets four times each year with at least one additional date set aside for strategy review and development. Trustees are alo encouraged to spend time getting to know other Trustees, staff and volunteers, hearing from those who use our services and learning from each other. We are a comparatively small charity and whilst we will not ask you to get involved in the day to day running of our of the Charity we are looking for people who are prepared to spend time supporting some of the aspects of the Charity where you may have skills or experience, or a particular interest.
The responsibility.
The duties of a trustee are to:
• ensure that the Charity pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy and that it complies with its legal and regulatory obligations
• ensure that the Charity spends its funding carrying out its charitable objects for the benefit of the public
• ensure that the Charity defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets
• safeguard the good name and values of the organisation
• ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Charity including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
• ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the Charity
• protect and manage the property of the Charity and ensure the proper investment of the Charity’s funds; and
• put in place and monitor arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the Charity’s Executive Director.
In addition to the above statutory duties, trustees are expected to use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
Person specification
You will join a committed Board of Trustees to further the breadth of experience that we currently have. Specific skills and experiences that we are looking for includes:
Expertise in fundraising, marketing or events management, which may have been in the charitable sector but could also come from a commercial environment
Experience of Home-Start’s work in supporting familities, which may as a family member who we have supported, a commissioner of our services, or a former staff member or volunteer
A background in people management and development to support the ongoing development of our staff (8 part time) and our volunteers (60)
Experience in legal, governance or business management In the commercial or charitable sector.
You will also need to demonstrate:
A commitment to the Charity
A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role
Good, independent judgement
An ability to think creatively
A willingness to speak your mind and share your views
An ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Over the last five years of our forty year history, Dementia Concern has been on a mission to reach every person in Ealing living with dementia. We are over halfway there. This Board recruitment campaign is a chance for new Trustees to help us drive forward the charity’s strategy 2024-27 and help us deepen our impact.
A couple of our Trustees will be coming to the end of their second (three year) term on the Board, so we’re seeking to recruit additional trustees and our next chair; our former Chair served from 2020 to 2024 leading the charity skillfully, including through the uncertainties of community healthcare in a pandemic.

They will be conversant in public health and alternatives to mainstream mental health approaches, and well placed to support and advocate MAC-UK’s youth-led, co-produced approaches. Treasurer main responsibilities:

Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees.

Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.

Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost management.

Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with the Co-Leadership team.

Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process

Lead on the appointment of and liaison with external auditors.

Oversee the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating and reporting corporate risk.

Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by relevant statutory bodies, for example, the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar of Companies.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £10 million a year to run our care services.
Being a Fundraising Volunteer is an exciting and varied role that helps us to raise money for the children and family we care for. There are opportunities to help at events - from marathons to our Fire and Ice walk, to Christmas markets. You could help with a tombola or raffle, set up and pack away, or simply cheer on participants. You could also stand in a location with a charity collection bucket, collecting change as people pass by or approach businesses to place a charity tin. Volunteer with us at Solihull Town Centre Mell Square on 3rd August
At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.
We are looking for volunteers to join us in t Solihull Town Centre Mell Square on 3rd August. You'll join our fundraising team, collecting donations from shoppers as well as assembling and disassembling the gazebo.
How much time will it take?
The collection is from 10am – 5pm, but you can join us at any point for an hour or two.

Could you be Rosa’s new Chair? Rosa is the UK’s only grant making fund dedicated to supporting women’s and girls’ organisations helping to create a society in which women and girls are safe, healthy and equal at work, at home and in public life. Over the last six years, our organisation has gone from strength to strength: growing our staff team and Board to fulfil our vision of a society in which women and girls are safe, healthy and have equal opportunities at work, at home and in public life.
We are looking for a Chair who shares our ambition to ensure adequate and consistent funding for organisations that support women and girls. Our Board is comprised of twelve dedicated and skilled Trustees with a range expertise and backgrounds and we are now seeking a new passionate and committed Chair.
Founded in 2008, our work focuses on the key issues affecting women’s and girls’ lives including violence and sexual abuse, reproductive rights and health, poverty and economic inequality and mental health and recognises the connections between them. We have channelled funding to small charities and organisations working in the most deprived areas of the UK and responded to the specific challenges faced by Black and minoritised led women’s and girls’ organisations.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation. We are currently working on our new strategy which will begin in 2025. This strategy aims to meet the evolving needs of the UK women’s and girls’ sector, leveraging our influence for its benefit and attracting diverse funders to invest in the sector.
We are proud of our strong partnerships with funders and investors and with women’s and girls’ organisations. We have a dynamic Chief Executive who leads a small, professional team to develop and deliver targeted programmes to meet the needs of the women and girls’ sector across these issues and across the UK.
We are particularly keen on hearing from those with experience as a Chair or Committee Chair, possessing strong leadership skills, and the ability to build trust, drive governance, and guide strategic planning and stakeholder engagement optimally in a charitable, non-profit organisation, public body, or equivalent organisation.

It is estimated that the role will require the equivalent of approximately forty days per annum, (averaged out over the course of the year). Our board meetings (three online and one in person) are held quarterly in the early evenings. The Chair is also invited to join Board Committees.
The role is unremunerated, but we will reimburse all reasonable expenses.

Being a Fundraising Volunteer is an exciting and varied role that helps us to raise money for the children and family we care for. There are opportunities to help at events - from marathons to our Fire and Ice walk, to Christmas markets. You could help with a tombola or raffle, set up and pack away, or simply cheer on participants. You could also stand in a location with a charity collection bucket, collecting change as people pass by or approach businesses to place a charity tin. Whether you choose to volunteer as an individual or bring your friends, family, or colleagues, all are welcome to #TeamAcorns!

We are looking for a dynamic finance professional to join our Board of Trustees in the role of Treasurer, ideally with a background in strategy and governance. You will share our passion for addressing child literacy issues in the under 12s from disadvantaged areas, and our vision of all children thriving in homes where a love of reading is embraced.
We are a small friendly team, busy engaging with children and their families on the ground and online, and you will be responsible for ensuring that our Charity’s finances are managed appropriately and effectively. The role requires attendance at 4 Board meetings per year and the occasional ad hoc representation at events/meetings.

We are established in local communities across Hampshire delivering high quality community, education and employment services which lead to transformed lives and positive outcomes.
Background
We are a charity that has provided support to young people and families to improve their life
chances, in the South East, for over 25 years. Our development and direction has been underpinned
by the huge commitment of our staff and volunteers, including Trustees.
We are looking to expand our Board of Trustees and it is an exciting time to join us. We are currently
shaping out new organisational strategy to enhance the impact to the young people and families
that we support. We are also developing key areas of safeguarding, reward and recognition.
Our operating environment is challenging, with our services facing financial pressures and ongoing
governmental changes. We therefore want to increase our influence and ability to support young
people and families.
Our Trustees lead the development of our charity, working alongside our Chief Executive, Kirsty
Robertson. You will need to have compassion, empathy and sensitivity to the experiences of the
young people that we support as well as a willingness and openness to understand the complexity
of the circumstances of our clients.
To underpin our current Trustee Board, we are looking for individuals with a background in HR,
Fundraising, Youth work, Finance, Safeguarding or Community Development but we welcome
applications from all interested parties.
We believe we will deliver long lasting impact when our Board and staff teams reflect the
community of young people and families that we service and improving Board diversity is crucial to
us in terms of our company values. We are actively encouraging applications from people who are
