You will play a key role in the successful establishment, monitoring and management of the Apprenticeship style training programme for trainees in Children and Young People work in churches in the Diocese of Southwark.

The postholder will enable the training placements to be properly administered and monitored, as well as, providing additional support for the apprentices and their parish line managers by having regular meetings and telephone calls. This post will require liaising with parish Children’s and Youth workers, coordinating training courses and general administration.  

This is a new role, giving the opportunity to be involved from the start of the project, and to support the trainees on their journey to  ministry in Children and Youth Work in the Diocese.

The Community Engagement Department enables our student community leaders to gain the knowledge, skills and connections for themselves and their student communities to thrive.  

Working with staff across the Community Engagement Department, the Training Coordinator works closely with the Training Manager to support staff to design and deliver high quality, impactful training for our 3000 student community leaders across 400+ student groups, 1000 student representatives, and our 6 full-time elected Student Officers, among other student communities. 

The Training Coordinator will support specialist staff across KCLSU to design and deliver a range of training spanning the breadth of community leadership, including but not limited to: student group management, event management, facilitation skills, volunteer management, project management, assessing impact, health & safety and safeguarding, effective representation, influencing & campaigning, community organising, protecting student rights, inclusion & accessibility, among others. 

This role forms a crucial element of the KCLSU and KCL Leadership Learning Initiative, a joint project designed to foster leadership skills among students, particularly those from under-represented backgrounds.

Job Specification

Student-facing Training 

- Lead the operational planning and delivery of our student-facing training programmes, including training our student group leaders, our elected sabbatical officers and our academic representatives, among others 
- Work with relevant staff across KCLSU to implement the KCLSU Training Strategy and share and promote best practice across the organisation 
- Work with relevant KCLSU teams to ensure consistency across student-facing training and ongoing guidance and support through the Community Development Framework and the Services Framework, and ensuring consistency with policy and compliance

Training Design & Development 
- Develop best practice guidance for training design and delivery in line with the KCLSU Training Strategy. 
- With oversight of all training content, work with the Training Manager to ensure we are utilising efficient and effective methods of delivery. 
- Apply a process for assessing learner needs to ensure training is accessible for all, implementing adaptive approaches to training that mitigate barriers to engagement
- Ensure our training content is engaging and reflective of our diverse student membership. 
- Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices 

Service Development 
- Develop the annual operating plans for the Community Engagement Department's Training, ensuring ongoing quality improvement of our training provision in line with KCLSU's strategic plan. 
- Review and improve processes, using staff resources effectively and implementing efficient, sustainable and robust working practices. 
- Monitor key performance indicators, managing processes for measuring and reporting on impact and outcomes. 
- Develop mechanisms for service feedback, consultation and user insight, understanding user needs and perspectives to inform service development. 

Stakeholder Management and Partnerships 
- Work with key partners at KCL, including the Students and Education Directorate (SED), Dr Michael Flavin and KCL Careers & Employability 
- Identify and cultivate key relationships and partnerships across KCL; students’ unions; higher education organisations, the National Union of Students and other relevant partners

Action for Conservation is a grassroots charity with a mission to bring the magic of nature into young people’s lives, inspiring a youth movement committed to conservation, restoration and to the Earth. We use pioneering approaches to inspire and empower young people from diverse backgrounds, between the ages of 12 and 24, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We're looking to appoint a Programme Coordinator based along the South East Coast to help us expand our work in the region and deliver our programmes for young people.

About the role

As South East Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering our core programmes in your region. Through your work, you will inspire and support young people to connect with nature in new and exciting ways and gain new environmental knowledge and skills, and will empower them to have a voice on environmental issues they care about and take action for nature.

You will plan and lead a wide range of sessions for and with young people indoors (including in schools), outdoors and online. You will also support young people to design and deliver environmental action projects that benefit nature and their local communities and create platforms for young people to share their voices and influence decision-making. You will look after all practical and administrative aspects of programme delivery as well as play a vital role in inspiring, empowering and supporting young people both during and outside of activities. You will also formally act as our Blue Mentor for the Blue Influencers Scheme, a match-funded programme for environmental youth social action, funded by The Ernest Cook Trust and the #iwill Fund. 

This role sits across programme coordination and administration on one hand and programme delivery on the other. The proportion of each varies throughout the year, with a busy spring and summer season of activities leading into a quieter, desk-based autumn and winter season as we plan and get ready for the year ahead. In total across the year, you can expect to lead or support the delivery of four to six Ambassador events (usually day-long with a 2-day residential graduation), two 5-day residential summer camps, and around 25 (half-day) sessions at secondary schools or youth groups in your regional (plus additional sessions as needed to support your colleagues with their session delivery).

To be successful in the role, you will be highly organised, proactive, self-reliant and a skilled facilitator who can engage and build positive relationships with young people in a range of settings. You will have prior experience of delivering events and activities for and with young people and, ideally, relevant experience of programme coordination and administration.

Main duties

Support young people to engage in our programmes and learn about, connect with and take action for nature

• Recruit a diverse range of schools, youth groups and young people to take part in our programmes and act as Blue Influencers, with a particular focus on young people experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation.
• Create exciting content and educational materials for young people.
• Plan and deliver events and activities that help young people to connect with nature, develop their environmental knowledge and skills and take action in their communities, with a particular focus on coastal, marine and riverine environmental issues.
• Support and mentor young people to imagine, plan and deliver environmental action projects to tackle issues that are important to them, with a particular focus on projects that benefit blue spaces.
• Support young people to partner with local community organisations to embed their projects within the community and maximise learning, connection and impact.
• Lay the groundwork for our first coastal Intergenerational Action Site, bringing together young people, conservationists, local stakeholders and community members through our ‘gold standard’ approach to intergenerational nature restoration and decision-making.

Lead on programme coordination and support with safety, evaluation and communications

• Be responsible for the general coordination and manage the logistics to deliver our programmes in your region.
• Manage risk, health and safety and safeguarding during programme activities.
• Ensure Blue Influencer projects meet the Ernest Cook Trust’s and #iwill Fund’s funding criteria and are administered in line with the due diligence guidance.
• Support the evaluation of our programmes and report on outcomes. 
• Help us to grow and manage our network of volunteers in your region.
• Share stories of the young people you work with and support young people to directly share their stories through social media, YouTube, blogs, articles, talks and other channels.

Marketing

6. Working with the CEO, Deputy CEO and Marketing Manager to implement the Marketing Strategy, including developing and managing campaigns, messages and stakeholder relations.

7. Supporting the development of content and publications as required including newsletters, brochures and reports, case studies, blogs, articles, website content, e-newsletter content.

8. Working with the Marketing Manager and Policy and Communications Manager to liaise with external networks – national, third sector and key regional press contacts, other communications managers – to increase the reach of SIB’s work and to disseminate it widely.

The role

With Ace of Clubs, homelessness charity approaching their 30th Anniversary Year, this is an impactful and engaging time to join the charity.  Your role as Community and Volunteering Co-ordinator will be pivotal in these developments.

You will be supporting, coordinating and administrating the charity’s amazing supporters and volunteers.  This requires sustaining and building strong relationships with those who generously contribute in various ways—whether through time, money, practically or professionally.   Our supporters and volunteers are key for the charity's sustainability. 

Our supporters and volunteers are from diverse backgrounds, range in age, and include individuals (including our service users who also volunteer), community groups and corporate teams.  Their contributions are essential for the running of our charity - that provides transformative, daily support for those who are marginalised and experiencing homelessness; including safety, food, warmth, clothing, laundry, showers, IT suite and access to casework and healthcare - all onsite at our warm and welcoming community drop-in.

About You
You need strong administrative, writing, and Microsoft office skills. Additionally, you have a positive mindset and can adapt to a wide range of individuals, from those who use our services to our supporters, volunteers and corporate partners.

While experience working for a charity is not necessarily required, empathy and understanding for individuals experiencing homelessness is essential.

You could be someone looking for an opportunity to grow and develop your career within the charity sector, or someone with extensive experience seeking a more philanthropic and fulfilling role.

The main purpose of this role is to support the development of the champions network through the development of relationships; exceptional communication; logistical management and administration. You will also support the wider Starlight Team, especially fundraising and marketing, with health professional and family stories that can engage supporters across all media and inspire the public to donate to Starlight. You’ll take the lead on creating opportunities for visits to healthcare settings where possible and appropriate.  You’ll help with the facilitation and delivery of meetings, training sessions and webinars.   You will also contribute to the development of our Health Play Awards, which have rapidly become recognised as the highest accolade for play professionals in healthcare.

PCUK's sector leading Events and Community fundraising team raises c.£12m through a programme of Community, Sporting Events and Virtual Products. Along with recruiting teams in events such as the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon, they also deliver two-charity owned cycling events, the Grand Depart Classic and the Big Blue Bike Ride. The role of Sporting Events Manager offers an exciting oportunity to lead on the strategy and delivery of the charity’s flagship walking event, March for Men, which raises c.£450k. A key focus will be with a key focus on co-creating and delivering a robust marketing plan.

As Sporting Events Manager, you will: 

• Support the Assistant Head of Events & Community Fundraising to generate income through their Sporting Events programme of walking, running and cycling activities. The income for the events team is c.£3.3m, with expenditure of c.£1.1m.
• Lead on strategy and delivery of PCUK’s flagship walking event, March for Men, which raises c.£450k. You will project manage the event, co-creating and managing the recruitment marketing plan, delivering the supporter journey to drive participant value and working with an external delivery partners
• Work closely with the Black Healthy Equity Team to increase representation across PCUK’s activity portfolio, with a focus on March for Men to ensure it’s a diverse and inclusive event
• Drive and report on operational plans and budgets to generate medium and long-term sustainable income, taking responsibility for team outcomes including financial and key result reporting
• Line manage and support a Sporting Events Coordinator and Sporting Events Executive

Ideal skills and experience:

• Ability to project manage and deliver large scale fundraising events, including leading complicated programmes with multiple partners
• Excellent organisational skills to support complex activity streams – using own initiative when required and able to manage multiple and competing priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment
• Experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders and managing relationships right up to the most senior levels
• Experienced people manager, able to motivate and manage a team to deliver excellent results

Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what you feel is a reasonable commuting distance for the team days in London.
