To be successful, it is important that you have:
- Experience of managing the delivery of end-to-end face-to-face fundraising activity or campaigns and teams.
- An in-depth understanding of the F2F landscape and different agency models.
- Experience of designing and delivering exceptional training to drive engagement.
- Knowledge and experience of the compliance environment for charity marketing.
- Experience of managing large budgets.
- Ability to analyse, interpret & explain results with a focus and drive on results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) is an award-winning charity that offers welfare, wellbeing and mental health support and services to veterans of the UK Armed Forces and Merchant Navy in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. They provide a Drop-In model of support, a welfare advice service, a range of peer-supported wellbeing activities and social groups, and access to psychology, psychiatry, and therapy services.
VOS has secured additional funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to continue the work of the Thrive Together programme (formerly VPPP) in the South East, which is designed to bring together a network of veterans’ support agencies that will take an informed approach across the South East region to ensure that there are connected pathways, which work well for veterans; that there are safe places for veterans to go, which connect into these pathways; and that volunteers and staff who support veterans have access to training and work closely with other organisations within veterans’ mental health pathways.
The Families and Carers Project Manager will work with the Thrive Together Portfolio Manager, Partners, and members of the VOS core team to explore the challenges of reaching out to families and carers of veterans, many of whom may be unaware that they are entitled to support and to make recommendations as to how this might be improved.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in identifying, planning, executing, and evaluating pilot projects, research groups, focus groups, community workshops, including managing project timelines and budgets.
- Experience of preparing reports and recommendations based on evaluation and feedback, including developing metrics to assess the effectiveness of services and collecting feedback for continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with engaging diverse communities, assessing and understanding their needs, and building relationships.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Yorkshire Programme Manager has responsibility for the development and delivery of our community programmes in West Yorkshire, with a particular focus on Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike.
At present, this is focussed on leading our Bridging & Belonging project, which aims to co-produce a vision for the future of Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. We expect that the insight that we produce from this project will determine the direction of our community programmes in West Yorkshire over the coming years.
Working with the project’s Community Group, you’ll support them to deliver a series of community events that capture the issues, needs and skills of the community and identify the action that the community wants to see.
As the project draws to a conclusion, you’ll play a key role in planning our future work in West Yorkshire, in conjunction with the Head of Community Programmes, and will provide information and support for grant applications for this future work.
ABOUT THE BRIDGING & BELONGING PROJECT
We know from our work in West Yorkshire that community members want to connect with each other, influence change, and use their ideas and skills to benefit the community. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, this project aims to facilitate this through a series of community events and activities in Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. These events will explore the themes of community, place and belonging, and will help us create a shared vision for the future of the area.
This project has already been established, so you’ll start with an in-depth project plan in place and a small but engaged Community Group made up of people from across Batley, Dewsbury, Heckmondwike and surrounding areas. With them we have started planning for the first three community events. You’ll also get support in running this project from a Project Officer and our Head of Community Programmes.
Through your leadership of this project over the next 12 months, we will:

Grow the Community Group to around 15 people

Support the group to plan and deliver a series of community events across Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. These events will be for anyone with a connection to the area to connect, listen, and share stories on the themes of community, place and belonging.

We’re looking for someone who is motivated and positive about making change happen in the area. You need to be happy to work as part of a remote team, but also have the confidence and ability to work independently and on your own initiative.
You’ll have a deep understanding of, and experience of engaging with, communities in West Yorkshire, particularly Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of facilitating group meetings and workshops in creative and engaging ways. This project has already started, so you’ll also need an ability to digest information and build relationships quickly.
You’ll have strong project management skills, and ideally experience planning and delivering events. Experience working with Steering Groups and reporting to funders will also be helpful.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, delivery and evaluation of the Association’s events, including membership workshops and masterclasses, and arranging and minuting meetings with members and key stakeholders, all to tight deadlines. The role’s responsibilities will also include the preparation and dissemination of the Association’s newsletters and induction of new members and as such will require the accurate maintenance of records and regular correspondence both internally across the teams and externally with members. big tech. In addition, our UK-focused Bureau Local team uses an innovative community-led

At the Bureau, our funders and supporters are vital. We are almost entirely funded through grants
and donations so – put simply – without their support, we wouldn’t be here.
Although our supporters may come from different backgrounds or have varied priorities, they all
share a common goal: tackling the issues across our society that are eroding democracy and
driving inequality. They support our work to hold those in power accountable, uncover new
evidence to support positive change, and empower citizens.
The Bureau has experienced significant growth over the past three years, increasing our annual
income to £2.8m and expanding to a team of more than 40 people. While the majority of our
income comes from grants, there is strong potential for further fundraising growth, and we are
actively working to diversify our funding streams beyond trusts and foundations.
This is an exciting time to join The Bureau as we continue to build on our strong relationships with
existing supporters while exploring new funding opportunities.
Role and Responsibilities:
Support from trusts and foundations is our main source of philanthropic income so we are looking
for somebody with experience in grants fundraising who can quickly apply their skills and
expertise. You’ll work closely with our Development Director to report to and liaise with current
funders, manage a pipeline of prospects and submit successful applications to secure new grants.
In addition, you will support in building a major donor programme to diversify and strengthen our
funding base. You will collaborate with colleagues at all levels across the organisation, from impact
producers to reporters to finance and operations, in a supportive and welcoming culture that
values teamwork and shared success.
As an excellent communicator, you will be able to take complex issues and translate them into
clear, compelling narratives that resonate with funders and stakeholders. You will also be
passionate about building strong relationships with our funders and supporters.
While experience in high-net-worth fundraising would be a valuable bonus, it is not essential. You
don’t need to have raised funds for non-profit media before, but you do need to be excited by our
work and able to express The Bureau’s key areas of work and impact in an accessible, accurate and
compelling way. We’re a small team, so you’ll need the willingness to pitch in on fundraising tasks
– big or small – to ensure The Bureau is in the best possible position to pursue its mission.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent fundraiser with a demonstrable track record of 3+ years’ experience successfully raising significant funds for charities or non-profits and managing relationships with funders (foundations - essential, high net worth individuals - desirable);
- Strong background in managing grants admin, including due diligence and processing agreements;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to speak and write English fluently;
- Great analytical skills, with experience in researching and identifying new funding sources for various projects;
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities;
- Experience of working with databases and funding pipelines;
- Exceptional time management skills, a professional attitude, and meticulous attention to detail;
- Resourceful and able to think creatively with strong problem-solving skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate at all levels across the organisation.
- Experience in securing funds for journalism, social justice, civil society, human rights, or related causes is desirable but not essential;
- We envisage this as a full-time, primarily hybrid working role, working from our London office two/three times a week.

Responsibilities:

Finance and Fundraising:

Ensure financial compliance and oversee bookkeeping, invoicing, and grant payments.

The Fundraising Assistant will be a key member of the fundraising team.
