The Communications Specialist will play an integral role in raising the profile of the school locally, nationally and internationally.This role will work collaboratively with the CEO and Principal to develop and implement the school’s communications and marketing strategy to promote the school’s work and reputation. It is a hands-on role managing design and print, websites and all forms of media in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and would suit someone who enjoys balancing operational and strategic tasks. There will also be a focus on newsgathering and storytelling across various channels (including online, print, and social). The role will also necessitate involvement in advertising (off and online), PR, events, digital marketing and social media.
The successful candidate will have or be:
- A degree level education with relevant marketing and/or communications qualification;
- Successfully undertaken a similar role, in a complex, busy, service-driven culture;
- A proven track record of designing and delivering successful communications campaigns and activity;
- Managed and produced content to support a wide range of communications;
- Willing to work strategically and operationally and be hands on within this role
- Self-motivated and able to work independently; working in a consultative way, managing ‘clients’ and working with minimal direction and input from others unless required as part of a collaborative brief;
- Proficient in developing profile raising strategies and planning and seeing through their implementation

About the role

Part 1: Role Purpose:
The Global Press & PR Manager will play a vital role in growing awareness and exposure of Street Child, working with journalists, editors and media houses to build a consistent and pro-active media presence. Street Child’s Global MMC team is fully integrated into the whole organisation and our primary aim is to raise awareness of Street Child and act as a force-multiplier for fundraising efforts.
The role will explore new media relationships and re-ignite existing contacts, turbo-charging the value press and media generates for Street Child.
This is a role for a high-class media professional with a passion for our mission, great energy, imaginations and fantastic relationship building skills. This role requires an individual who will be based in our London office for a minimum of three days a week.
Tasks include delivering media coverage across global outlets, supporting the delivery of media training and briefings and the management/development of Street Child’s podcast.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
Delivering global media coverage (80%):
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with journalists across a range of broadcast, print and digital media outlets, looking beyond mainstream media to deliver global reach.
- Writing and publishing compelling, engaging press releases
- Manage and deliver media coverage on key campaigns and initiatives
- Support on the delivery of media briefings, including for the CEO, where required
- Lead and deliver PR campaigns, including influencer activations and activity

Role Purpose
This role is focused on maximising comms-based engagement across the GDI Hub’s portfolio, supporting GDI Hub’s growing outreach across project-based deliverables and organisational comms channels (e.g. social media, websites, content generation).

The Communications Manager will use their considerable communications (and particularly digital communications) and marketing experience to tell QEST’s story; communicate the impact of QEST, facilitate the advancement of QEST’s UK-wide activities; and strengthen communications among the QEST network of alumni, the wider craft industry and existing and potential supporters and donors.
The role will include (but not limited to):

Salary: £41,000 per annum, pro rata (£24,600 per annum for 3 days per week)

Location: This role is based in London at our offices in Tottenham Hale, with possibility of hybrid working at home and in the office (minimum attendance in the office is 1 day per week on average.)

ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to manage all aspects of how Feedback communicates our work to help achieve our strategic goals. This includes centring communities, building our public profile with key audiences including journalists, developing our range of allies, reflecting our understanding of historical injustice in the food system, and fostering an experimentation and learning culture. As Feedback has recently rebranded and changed its name, this role will involve carefully managing the journey of embarking with a new brand.
This role would suit an experienced communications professional who is excited to think deeply about the way communications can support systemic change in the food sector. Experience with managing relationships with journalists and media outlets, identifying and pursuing stories, managing change, and contributing to organisational learning will be important.
Everyone at Feedback is engaged in our journey towards fully embodying the principles of an anti-racist and anti-oppressive organisation, and as Communications Manager you will take the opportunity to think deeply and act on these principles in our approach to communications. Feedback’s activities span communities/grassroots and policy/corporate campaigns and one of our priorities is integrating these two aspects of our work, so an understanding of the reality of working with communities, either professionally or personally, or a willingness to learn, is vital.
As Feedback’s strong media profile is a key aspect of our campaigning success, you will help build this profile and take an organised and proactive approach to identifying story opportunities from across the organisation.

This role is responsible for delivery, alongside colleagues, of two strategic objectives:
PUBLIC PROFILE
By the end of 2025, we will have good public visibility with frequent media impressions and a strong recognized brand, raising awareness of our work, and raising the credibility of our asks amongst diverse audiences
SUPPORTERS
By the end of 2025, a strong and engaged online supporter base will be integral to us achieving our goals through online actions and donations
Alongside this, you will be responsible for ensuring our work at Feedback fulfils our wider strategic objectives to:
· Centre communities in our policy asks, while building support for our campaigns amongst partner communities;
· Demonstrate our impact annually and foster a learning culture amongst our team to enable us to continually improve our effectiveness;
· Build relationships with a range of allies;
· Support Feedback’s journey towards our anti-racism objective.
These responsibilities will be met by:
1. Build and develop Feedback’s media profile (approx 30% of time) by:
a. Building relationships with journalists.
b. Identifying and developing new hooks and stories to pitch to the media from across Feedback’s portfolio of work. Pitching these to key journalists alongside campaigners where relevant.
c. Drafting media materials including pitch documents, press releases and Q&A documents.
d. Preparing colleagues ahead of media interviews.
i. Managing external PR support where relevant.
ii. Supporting key media moments alongside campaigners.
2. To manage Feedback’s brand and public profile (approx. 30% of time) by:
a. Overseeing our communications channels, working with other staff and external consultants to ensure our channels reflect the diversity of Feedback’s work and contribute to meeting our strategic objectives.
b. Fully deliver the roll-out of Feedback’s new brand and its application to every aspect of our communications work.
3. To manage the communications pipeline (approx. 30% of time) by:
a. Acting as a quality control and adviser on all communications outputs from across the team to ensure that form and content are as effective and creative as possible.
b. Thinking and experimenting with the application of our anti-racism and anti-oppressive work to our communications.
c. Managing sub-contractors as necessary to deliver high quality content in a timely manner.
d. Managing the communications budget.
4. Develop a learning system to continually learn and improve on how we do communications at Feedback (approx. 10% of time) by:
a. Monitoring and tracking impact of Feedback’s communications outputs
b. Identifying appropriate indicators which provide opportunities to learn about how we meet our strategic objectives through our communications.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential knowledge and experience:
· Extensive knowledge and experience of using communications to achieve campaign goals.

As a PR Media Manager for the world’s leading independent conservation organisation, we want you to join the media team supporting our fundraising, brand and advocacy by increasing our visibility through media, compelling storytelling, and celebrity partnerships.
As Media Manager you will focus on proactively generating positive and agenda-setting media coverage of our work and campaigns in consumer media from breakfast TV sofas to lifestyle media, online news outlets and specialist press. We want you to help make our message the loudest, most respected and reliable in the UK media, and to grasp the public and decision makers’ attention so they step up to help bring our world back to life. This will involve developing close relationships with journalists and confidently pitch stories and ideas to media outlets. What the job involves
This is an excellent opportunity to join our vibrant, proactive and attentive Brand and Media team in a varied and dynamic role. Our focus is on making Prostate Cancer UK widely recognisable and building a deep understanding of the cause for our brand to be sustained. Following audience insight, we gain the attention of priority audiences at tactical calendar moments through creative content and storytelling.
You’ll be helping to tackle some of the biggest issues facing prostate cancer, from building public support and momentum behind our ambitious research programme, to increasing public understanding of risk factors and treatment options.
With your expertise and understanding of the national health agenda you’ll plan, develop and deliver large scale integrated campaigns which result in high quality, engaging and impactful media coverage, working collaboratively with colleagues across Communications.
You’ll provide expert media and PR guidance to teams and individuals across the charity, including the Executive Team, Research and Support and Influencing teams, and will build long-lasting relationships with key influential journalists and stakeholders to ensure prostate cancer remains an issue high in their agenda.
What we want from you
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual with solid experience in media relations and a strong understanding of the national health and research news agenda. You’ll be experienced in turning complex research, health or policy information into bitesize messaging and eye-catching content, along with the ability to look for new angles for stories which will help us drive forward our agenda.
Whilst your focus will be on generating proactive and reactive media coverage, you’ll also have a good understanding of the range of current communications channels and will have an eye on the bigger picture, considering opportunities to share messages and content to a wider audience.
Your excellent people skills will enable you to form effective relationships with a range of groups and individuals from journalists to colleagues, to men living with prostate cancer.
You’ll be a flexible team player, capable of managing multiple projects to tight deadlines, and happy to use your expertise to support your team, or take the lead, as the occasion demands
