The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Mercers’ Company as a Data and Impact Officer (D&IO). This is a newly created role within the Philanthropy Team, working closely with the Operations and Impact Manager (OIM) to ensure our grants data remains accurate, up to date and reliable. This person will be instrumental in analysing the data to demonstrate the impact of our funding programmes and charities and producing evaluation reports; along with providing proactive administrative and operational support to the Philanthropy Team.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have experience in systems management, data analysis and using CRM databases (preferably, Blackbaud Grantmaking or similar grants software). This experience could be from your work in the sector or through your recently completed degree programme in Mathematics / Statistics or Systems Information Management. Strong written and verbal communications skills are essential, along with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex datasets. You should be numerate and enthusiastic about developing a career in philanthropy.

Finance Officer
Duration: 3-month initially, with a view to go permanent
Pay: £16.92 per hour plus £2.04 per hour holiday pay (Equivalent to £33,000 FTE)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), 9am -5:30pm, would consider a 4-day week.

About the role
The role of the Project Officer - International Development (POID) is to support the PBLS team’s mission to advance the UN SDGs by brokering pro bono legal assistance from legal experts in support of international NGOs. The POID will do this by engaging PBLS’s existing network of international NGOs, expanding this network by connecting with new international NGOs, and providing international development expertise to support and enhance the services and products within PBLS.
The POID will engage CSOs/NGOs globally to build partnerships and identify needs for pro bono legal assistance. This role will also support PBLS objective in brokering international pro bono legal opportunities to fulfil these needs, by connecting legal experts/expertise with CSOs/NGOs, including the weekly circulation of pro bono projects to legal partners or long-term and more complex strategic projects. The POID will conduct due diligence, allocate projects to appropriate legal partners, maintain related records and gather relevant feedback on a periodic basis. The POID will provide support on internal reporting, and will also draft external communications. The POID will also be responsible for other internal administrative tasks as necessary (e.g. updating software and implementing process changes). Other key responsibilities will include: supporting the PBLM with any bespoke projects; assisting with training events for Development or Legal Partners on relevant International Development topics, and engaging with key Legal or Development Partners any on specific areas of legal interest or need. This role will work with other teams as and when needed.

Job description
1. Organisational leadership and people management
-
Work with the ED and SMT to ensure a values-led and positive organisational culture is reflected throughout ways of working, internal communication, policies and processes, and all team activities.

Line-manage Senior Management Team (SMT) members, operational roles and other roles as necessary (currently Head of Development, Head of Communications and Engagement, Head of Policy, Advocacy and Research, and Operations Manager).

Chair weekly SMT meetings.

Oversee human resources and people management processes, ensuring alignment with best practice in areas including recruitment, induction, performance management, safety, wellbeing, learning and development, and benefits.

Ensure diversity, inclusion and equity (DEI) considerations are at the forefront of all work and decisions, working alongside our expert DEI Consultant.

Oversee the bi-annual, in-person team retreat.

2. Operational management

- Lead safeguarding work as the SMT Safeguarding Lead; working alongside the Participation Manager and Board Safeguarding Lead to ensure robust safeguarding policies, processes, training and a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring it is a key consideration throughout all organisational activity and decision-making.
- Lead on legal and regulatory compliance issues, seeking advice from lawyers in the UK, Belgium and The Netherlands, and other experts, as necessary.
- Ensure governance structures and processes are robust and compliant.
- Ensure adequate insurance cover is in place in all jurisdictions.
- Oversee data protection and cyber-security systems, policies and processes, ensuring compliance with best practice and legal obligations.
- Oversee crisis management processes, and work as a key member of any crisis management committees.
5. Stakeholder engagement
- Liaise with the Management Board and Global Policy Board on operational and governance issues, producing reports and presentations as required.
- Maintain strong and effective relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders including Alliance members, partners, consultants, service-providers, donors, lawyers, auditors, regulators, and advisors.
- Represent the Alliance at external events when required.

To provide health and safety monitoring support to the housing team. This will include maintaining and updating local and central health and safety records and carrying out local health and safety inspections and checks using CIHA’s standard recording processes. As a Fundraising Officer you will provide general team administration and process support for fundraising; support with Major Gifts thanking, stewardship and recognition.

In order to be successful, you must have experienced :
- An intuitive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- The ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple work streams and prioritise tasks a good eye for detail and previous experience with administration

- Ability to collaborate with other teams and departments to maximise results

Crucially, you’ll be the sort of person your colleagues are keen to learn from and eager to work with, able to offer expert insight and coaching with patient enthusiasm, but comfortable in offering clear advice and direction when needed.
