About the role:
This role offers hybrid working with a minimum 1 day per week in our Victim Support Office based at Whitecross Studios, homeworking and regular travel to meet clients and attend meetings. As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate of domestic abuse you will:
- Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm
- Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
- Initiate, develop, maintain and monitor multi-agency links through procedures and protocols to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
You will need:
- knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
- a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- to understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- experience of direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
- good communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice
- strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

What you'll do:

* Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
* Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
* Work patterns are over a 7 day shift rota (shift pattern is a mix of early shifts (8am-4pm) and late shifts (2:30pm-10:30pm) . The service operates 24 hours 7 days a week.

Achieving change for children’s rights - and addressing the root causes that allow violations to occur in the first place - requires a variety of approaches and voices. How CRIN works on each issue varies depending on the need and our ability to bring about change. However, a bedrock of our work is using the law to uphold stronger standards for children’s rights.
The international human rights framework, including the UN system, has been under strain - and while we think it’s important to simultaneously focus on other channels for change, we also want to continue to be a critical friend at the global level.
This is who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who can lead our work on national security and armed conflict. We need someone who has a strong understanding of the children’s rights and human rights legal framework and who has experience conducting advocacy at the global level. This person must be skilled at building relationships with key stakeholders - both allies and targets at different levels.
In particular, you would provide leadership on how children’s rights are impacted by counter-terrorism measures, including working on UK-based and international campaigning. You would also be responsible for exploring the expansion of CRIN’s work on children and armed conflict internationally.
You would work closely and collaboratively with numerous members of the CRIN team, including the Co-Directors and the Children’s Rights and National Security Coordinator. Your responsibilities would include:

Leading CRIN’s work on children’s rights and national security and armed conflict;

Building relationships and conducting advocacy with relevant decision-makers, including government and UN policymakers;
-
Building and developing relationships with relevant organisations and individuals at all levels, including grassroots, national, regional and global;
-
Working with other staff/consultants to conduct research and draft resources, e.g. research reports, briefings for decision-makers, submissions to relevant bodies;
-
Helping with coordination on various issue areas related to national security and armed conflict: planning; formulating strategy; carrying out activities; and monitoring, evaluating, and reporting;

Advising on and incorporating an anti-oppressive approach within our work on armed conflict and national security;

Monitoring relevant news and policy developments, identifying opportunities for advocacy;

Working with CRIN communications staff to create content for the website, social media, and newsletter;

Supporting and working closely with other CRIN policy team members, providing legal and advocacy advice for their work;

Representing CRIN in relevant coalitions/networks and at external events/meetings related to the issue area;

Contributing to seeking media coverage for the issues, e.g. pitching stories, liaising with journalists, responding to interview requests.
We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

Knowledge of and passion for children’s rights;

Knowledge of the impact of counter-terrorism laws on children’s rights;

Excellent legal research skills and experience utilising knowledge of comparative law and human rights law;

Ability to think strategically and analytically, in particular the ability to develop effective strategies for social change;

Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with diverse stakeholders, including in writing, and to cultivate relationships with a variety of people;

An understanding of how oppression can manifest in the issues we work on (and how we work as an international NGO) and a keen interest in how we can implement an anti-oppression approach;

Knowledge of the UN framework and experience conducting effective advocacy in this context;

Motivated, with strong organisational skills and an ability to manage own work (including while remote-working);

Fluency in English;

Ability to thrive in a small (and mostly remote) team.

Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.

East London Apartments provides 24-hour accommodation-based support for up to 31 individuals with complex histories, multiple traumas, complex personality disorder(s) and a varied, disrupted housing history with experience of homelessness.
East London Apartments implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, in particular those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.
Working with individuals with complex needs, who may display challenging, chaotic behaviours, regularly test boundaries and have experienced multiple traumas as a result of abuse, neglect and years of street homelessness, it is integral that the post holder is motivated to support individuals to progress. They should continually hold aspirations for individuals despite multiple setbacks, and display emotional resilience, able to process challenging incidents and remain motivated to deliver excellent support.
The successful applicant will have experience working closely with a range of services to support individuals to address and/or recover from their dependence on drugs and or alcohol. You will have excellent knowledge of harm reduction techniques and various treatment approaches for addiction and be confident in the use of these approaches. These should include but are not limited to medication treatment, behavioural counselling and relapse prevention. You will also provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community. Provision of care and support is also provided to develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.
Post holders will deliver trauma informed and asset based support to a caseload of up to 6 complex service users with substance misuse support needs. - The caseload is subject to change depending on the service needs.

What you'll bring:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area (e.g. substance misuse, addiction, psychology, Health and Social Care,).
Experience building and developing strong professional partnerships with external providers.
A minimum of 2 years experience in complex needs services, community development, addiction counselling, drug and alcohol work or other related fields.
Good written and oral communication skills
2-3 years experience providing targeted recovery focussed support to individuals with needs around trauma, mental health, substance use and dual diagnosis.

As a Caseworker you will be:

A Enhanced Support worker will be able to be creatively engage young people in order to minimise risks and increase their independence.
