About the role

This is an exciting time to join The King’s Fund, as we develop our next corporate strategy and look to maximise our impact as an organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring our income generating work aligns with our strategic priorities and enables us to deliver meaningful change in the health and care system. 

To increase its impact and reach,  the Fund raises additional income and support from a variety of sources. As such, fostering and maintaining effective relationships with a broad range of funders is a crucial part of our work and overall strategy. You will support policy colleagues to build and maintain these relationships and wider business development by qualifying and converting inbound opportunities, maintaining high-quality bidding collateral and good CRM hygiene.

Sitting in the Partnerships and Business Development team, the post holder will carry out income generation activity, primarily by acquiring new business.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Horizon scanning for new opportunities and funders to support our work.

• Assessing, disseminating and responding rapidly to inbound requests to work with us.

• Writing, managing and quality assuring proposals, maintaining high-quality bidding collateral.

• Coaching and supporting policy colleagues in all aspects of business development, from idea generation and scoping, to proactively seeking funding from a range of bodies, to negotiating with prospective clients and funders looking to support our work.

• Ensuring our CRM reporting is timely and accurate. 

You will have excellent communication skills, commercial acumen and a passion for securing new business at and achieving impact at a values-driven organisation. You’ll have a record of success in a business development role and experience of developing and delivering high-quality proposals- through your own efforts as well as by supporting and developing others; securing income to achieve targets. 

The role will include working at occasional early morning and evening events.

The Fund is committed to a hybrid working model that meets the organisation’s needs, while giving staff flexibility to choose between office and home working. Most staff are expected to work a minimum of 40% from our central London office and are free to work more days from the office if they prefer. We are in the process of developing our long-term policy on this, although the expected minimum time in the office will remain 40% (pro rata).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a fundraising strategy aligned with PSVT’s long-term vision
• Research, identify, and apply for grants, trusts, and major funding opportunities
• Build and maintain relationships with key donors, corporate sponsors, and stakeholders
• Drive one-off and recurring donation campaigns, increasing engagement and support
• Work closely with internal teams to support funding applications for major heritage and community projects

About the Role
The Alumni Networks Team manage the Regional and Special Interest Groups - the Alumni Networks programme which is run through alumni volunteers throughout the world. The role of Alumni Networks Executive will deliver some aspects of the alumni engagement strategy and takes direct responsibility for managing the existing groups and also enhancing the Alumni Networks programme with strategic groups, including Special Interest Groups. The team act as the primary contact between the University and its alumni networks around the world and is responsible for managing relationships with these groups to further mutually beneficial aims that actively contribute to the University’s strategic goals. What will I be doing?

• Lead on the development and delivery of the CRUK wide patient involvement strategy refresh, to encompass all areas of the organization that currently deploy or may benefit from patient involvement, including an evaluation plan to monitor the effectiveness and impact of the strategy.

• Oversee work on patient involvement across all areas of CRUK that would benefit from this across research, fundraising and policy, ensuring adherence to good practice.

• Oversee a strategic approach to the recruitment, and development of an engaged and inclusive network of people affected by cancer, with inspiring supporter journeys, regular communications and a learning plan, to ensure they have a consistently positive experience of working with us. Work in collaboration with volunteering / involvement teams internally and externally.

• Work closely with colleagues in Research and Innovation (R&I) to oversee the delivery of our researcher engagement strategy to inspire, upskill and support researchers to involve people affected by cancer in their work, this includes international research programmes like Cancer Grand Challenge, Research Data Strategy and Clinical trials.

• Provide functional leadership to the patient involvement team, leading a high performing team and ensuring that their time is prioritised effectively to focus on the areas of greatest impact

• Be the CRUK subject matter expert. Build and maintain a deep understanding of developments in involvement to position yourself and CRUK as a thought leader in this space.

• Working with leaders across CRUK to create opportunities for those close to cancer to get involved in our core activity. Influence via robust personal relationships combined with evidence-based insights.

What skills are we looking for?

• Expertise of working with patients in an engagement or involvement role, sensitive to the demands of working with patients and ability to represent patients' views while achieving corporate and strategic goals.

• Knowledge of best practise in the areas of patient / volunteer engagement and journeys, involvement and consultation including impact measurement.

Place of work: Flexible with requirements for regular travel to English Rural’s offices in Surrey and site visits as necessary (Hybrid Contract) – covering a patch predominantly across Essex and Cambridgeshire
Essential Car User Allowance: This role is eligible for English Rural’s essential car user scheme (£5,200 per annum)

About English Rural:

English Rural Housing Association is a leading national rural specialist working to provide affordable homes in small villages for local people. We own and manage around 1,500 affordable properties, spread amongst 150 villages, and have a development programme of around 200 more homes. 

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver regional housing management services across Essex, Cambridge and surrounding areas. Working under the leadership of the Resident Services Director and collaboratively with housing, repairs and allocations colleagues, the role will be expected to inform and deliver agreed business strategy. Building relationships with residents and external partners is essential, as we continue to achieve an effective housing management service.

About you:

To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record working in housing management. You will need good communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate and work effectively within a fast-paced environment. Experience in arrears collection, tenancy management and delivering customer satisfaction are essential. The right candidate will have sufficient housing expertise both through formal CIH qualifications and direct experience. English Rural is looking to invest in and develop the right candidate to grow with our business.

Our new Senior Storytelling Officer will grow the storytelling capacity in our team, building strong relationships with our storytellers and ensuring they’re supported before, during and after they tell their story to support our work.

In this role, you’ll build on existing work to establish a pipeline of strong storytellers, build trust and credibility in storytelling across the organisation, and develop storytelling best practice. Underpinning all of this will be your sensitive, diplomatic, and intersectional approach to storytelling.

This role requires a professional who can balance the sensitive nature of our work with the strategic needs of the organisation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in ethical storytelling and the ability to lead and innovate in this crucial area of our work

Background:

Street Child (SC) is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian, and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over 1.5 million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. 

Street Child has been operating in Mozambique since 2019, focusing on Cabo Delgado province. Its portfolio currently includes around $1 million dedicated to child protection and education in emergencies programming. Most programme implementation is done through local partners, supported by a team of 10 team members.

Role Purpose:

As Country Director for Street Child in Mozambique, you will lead our team in achieving our mission to keep all children safe, in school, and learning. Reporting to the East & Southern Africa Regional Director and working closely with Country Head of Programmes, your primary goals will be to build a high-performing and cohesive team, provide visionary leadership, drive programme growth, and cultivate strategic partnerships that drive our mission forward.

Street Child operates on the principle of equitable partnership, creating space for local actors to deliver impactful services within their communities. Therefore, your success will be measured not only by direct programming outcomes but also by the achievements of our local partners. Through effective team management, strategic planning, program oversight, and resource mobilization, you will advance Street Child’s long-term vision and presence in Mozambique. 

Person Specifications: The ideal Country Director candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, exhibit a go-getter attitude, and possess a business development mindset. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be an astute manager and strategist, whose visionary leadership will be vital in guiding a high-performing team toward achieving our mission of keeping all children safe, in school, and learning. Exceptional leadership abilities, along with strong coaching, teamwork, and communication skills, are essential. The candidate must exhibit analytical thinking and the ability to research innovative intervention methods, coupled with a creative and flexible approach to problem-solving. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Team Building and Leadership:

• Recruit, mentor, and empower a highly effective team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth. 

• Lead by example, providing inspirational leadership, setting and communicating clear objectives to guide the team. 

• Ensure the South Sudan team is equipped and has the mindset to build equitable and complementary partnerships by strengthening and establishing relationships with local partners, government, and international actors. 

• Promote open communication and collaboration between programme, finance, and operational teams. 

Strategy Development and Long-term Vision:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive country strategy aligned with Street Child's global and regional objectives. 

• Lead strategic planning initiatives, engaging team members, partners, and authorities to identify Street Child’s value alongside emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities. 

• Ensure programme, finance, and operational teams are aligned with and guided by strategic objectives. 

• Work closely with East and Southern Africa regional and global Street Child offices to inform organizational strategy at all levels. 

• Conduct thorough assessments of new geographical areas, preparing for future implementation and expansion. 

Programme Management Oversight: 

• Provide strong oversight of all programmatic activities, ensuring alignment with country strategy and Street Child’s mission and strategic objectives. 

• Work closely with the Country Programme Manager to design innovative and adaptive programming to respond to Mozambique's dynamic context. 

• Ensure projects are delivered within scope, on budget, and meet Street Child’s established quality standards. 

• Ensure program performance is monitored and evaluated effectively, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement and ensure high-quality outcomes. 

• Ensure robust reporting meets internal and external requirements, including donor reports. 

Operations Oversight:

• Oversee all operational aspects, including safety, security, and crisis management, ensuring staff well-being and operational continuity. 

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety and security protocols, ensuring team members have proper training to respond to emergencies. 

• Oversee effective logistics, procurement, and administrative functions to support programmatic activities efficiently and effectively. 

• Stay up to date with, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organisational policies and procedures. 

Resource Mobilisation:

• Cultivate strong relationships and bolster Street Child's reputation among donors, relevant authorities, partners, and stakeholders in Mozambique. 

• Input into East & Southern Africa Regional resource mobilisation strategy, working closely with the Regional Director to identify and pursue regional opportunities and relationships. 

• Work closely with the fundraising team in London and the East Africa regional office to identify new funding opportunities and lead efforts to secure funding for programs and initiatives. 

• Lead proposal development efforts, collaborating with local partners to create compelling pitches aligned with donor priorities and Street Child's strategic objectives. 

Advocacy, External Engagement, and Representation:

• Serve as Street Child's primary advocate and spokesperson in Mozambique and promoting our mission and values. 

• Act as a sectoral leader, capturing lessons to strengthen our approaches, and sharing Street Child's learning internally and externally. 

• Engage with government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to influence policy decisions and drive systemic change in support of vulnerable populations. 

• Represent Street Child at forums, conferences, and working groups, advocating for locally led response alongside the right to education for all in Mozambique. 

Risk, Compliance & Security Management:

• Ensure Street Child safety and security protocols are in place and being followed, with clear measures for risk mitigation and crisis management. 

• Take overall responsibility for the safety, security, and risk management of all Street Child Mozambique staff, programs, and operations. 

• Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to protect program participants, particularly children. 

• Conduct regular assessments of partner organizations to ensure compliance with Street Child’s standards and guidelines. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

• Extensive 8-10 years’ experience in the humanitarian or development sector, with a strong track record of team building, business development, and operational management. 

• Experience in overseeing or delivering education, child protection, and/or livelihoods programmes. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. 

• Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, program management, and resource mobilization, with a focus on sustainable impact. 

• Fluency in both English and Portuguese, written and spoken. Fluent Spanish or Italian are acceptable in the absence of Portuguese.

This role focuses on driving media engagement, enhancing public awareness of our mission, and ensuring alignment of PR efforts with organisational priorities. At its heart, this role is about great storytelling, working across Turn2us to develop a deep understanding of our work and how we can harness the news agenda to communicate our message.

We’re looking for a confident communicator to develop and implement PR strategies, manage media relations, collaborate on messaging, organise media events and engagements and line manage the Senior Storytelling Officer.
