Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and execute the Employment Support strategy and service line:
• CV Assistance and subsidising travel: Organise and oversee quarterly CV clinics and provide discretionary support for travel costs associated with interviews and courses, enhancing job readiness among community members.
• Discretionary interview support: provide access to high quality discretionary interview practice and advice.
• Job opportunity signposting: Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses and organizations to highlight job opportunities for the community. Act as a liaison for discretionary referrals to these job opportunities, ensuring a fit between community members’ skills and available positions.
2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of the number of individuals assisted with CVs, job applications and interview preparation; the number vacancies shared with the community and any successful placement rates of those assisted. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.
3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams:
• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establishalliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire Employment Supportresources, speakers or information.
• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Employment Support service line. Identify diverse revenue streams, such as grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events for the Employment Supportservice.
• Volunteer Engagement Team: Work with this team to recruit, train and manage volunteers to support the Employment Support service delivery.
• Marketing Outreach & Advocacy: work with this team to enhance visibility of the Employment Supportservice across social media, press, and community events.
4. Governance Team Interaction: Provide regular updates and reports to the Governance, Secretariat & Performance Reporting team. As a Volunteer Donor Relationship Co-ordinator, you will play a crucial role in forming and maintaining relationships with our donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, whilst forming & implementing a strategy to keep them donating. What does the Organiser role involve?
Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.
We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. We also expect timely responses to emails. When a new Advocate applies to work with you, we would like them to be contacted within seven days.

Our network of committed local vegans across the country is growing! The Vegan Society organises various outreach activities to influence change in every level of society. There are a range of activities going on all the time, from general educational stalls at events to meeting with local policy influencers.
What does the Organiser role involve?
Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.
We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. Many Organisers find a huge sense of satisfaction, improvement in self-esteem and enjoy the social side of volunteering in this role.
You will also be responsible for welcoming new Advocates in your area. We will let you know when somebody new applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates, this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. You'll also be the health and safety contact for your group. Bats are amazing animals and an important part of our natural environment. There are 18 species of bat in the UK, all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically. BCT operates a National Bat Helpline to provide almost 15,000 enquirers a year with easily accessible and accurate information, including getting injured bats to the care they need. The Helpline’s role in advising and supporting people who come into contact with bats is an important part of BCT’s work towards our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.
About the role
As a volunteer you will answer calls from the public, providing advice on bat care calls and putting them in touch with local bat care volunteers where possible. We consistently receive feedback from volunteers to say that this role can be challenging at times, but with the support from the team, and the knowledge that they are helping bats and advising members of the public makes it such a rewarding role. Many enjoy it so much that they return to volunteer the next season! Volunteers took about 1,500 calls between September 2022 and May 2023.
You do not need to have prior experience in conservation to volunteer, anyone who is interested in helping bats is welcome to apply. Volunteering for the Helpline is a great way to get involved in conservation from the comfort of your home and during your spare time.
Commitment
Returning winter volunteers (those who done a winter season with us in either 2023 or 2022) will be ready to start Bat Watches on Monday 16th September. New winter volunteers will be ready to start Bat Watches on Monday 7th October. We hope volunteers will sign up to Bat Watches until May 2024 and there is always the option to continue volunteering after May.
We hope that volunteers will be able to sign up to 3 Bat Watches per month between September – May. A Bat Watch is up to 3.5 hours (including 30mins break), please see below for Bat Watch times:

All you need is:
- A computer/laptop with internet access (or a tablet, although a computer is preferable).
- A speaker/mic or headset to use with your computer, as phone calls will be received using an internet app on your device.
- A phone with reliable reception for contacting support staff where needed.
Skills and abilities
- Competent in using computers and entering data onto an online form.
- Accurate record-keeping.
- An interest in UK wildlife and conservation and/or animal welfare.
- Affective communication skills and ability to reassure members of the public during calls.
- Willingness to spend additional time reading training materials and keeping up to date with communications from the project coordinator.
Training and support
New winter volunteers must complete some introductory online training in their own time and attend one online training day on either:
· Thursday 12th September
· Wednesday 18th September
Training days will run between 10:30am and 2:30pm with breaks.
Returning winter volunteers (those who have done a winter season with us in 2022 or 2023), will receive a refresher training video instead. If you have done a winter season with us pre-2022, you will need to attend a full training day. Thank you!
All volunteers will receive a comprehensive manual and full support from BCT staff during their assigned bat watches and throughout the season. During the virtual training day, we will provide an induction explaining what we do and how volunteers fit within our organisation. We will also provide training to assist you to meet the standards we expect from volunteers. BCT will reimburse certain "out of pocket" expenses where required.

Why we want you
We know the best place for pets is in a loving home. Sometimes they can’t stay in their original home, or perhaps they are one of the many babies born in Blue Cross care. As a Blue Cross Foster Carer you’ll provide the loving home our pets need, giving care and affection to animals whilst they wait for their forever home. Our Foster Carers care for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, chinchillas, rats and degus. Some of our Foster Carers look after all species, some specialise and, with further training, can also help us to care for pets with specialist needs.
Every year we help thousands of pets. Our Pet Foster Carers ensure we do that in the best way, providing comfortable warm homes and lots of love to pets in need. We’ve been helping homeless, sick and injured pets since 1897 and with your help we can continue to do that.
What you will be doing
- Caring for Blue Cross pets and providing them with a safe environment in your own home until they can be rehomed
- Supporting pets who might be struggling to cope in a Rehoming Centre
- Transporting your foster pet to and from a Blue Cross site or vets as required
- Providing all the care they need including feeding, socialising, grooming and cleaning
- Giving observations and feedback on your foster pet including filling in assessments, diaries and feedback forms
- Sending progress updates to your manager using video or photographs some of which will be used on our website and for potential adopters
The skills you need
- Previous experience of handling and caring for pets. We can train you on any species new to you
- Time to dedicate towards socialising and caring for your foster pet
- Access to a car to undertake journeys to and from our Rehoming Centre and vets
- A safe, quiet area within your home so pets can settle in at their own pace
- Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures and undertake training provided
- The ability to provide timely and regular communication with our foster teams through phone or email
- Some IT skill would be helpful, or someone who could support you, as much of our training is completed online and we’d like you to be able to email us photos, videos and updates of your foster pet
