This senior post is key to Action4Youth’s continued growth and will work closely with the CEO and other Directors to develop and influence the strategic direction of the organisation to ensure its long-term sustainability. It will have primary responsibility for the safe, effective and financially sound operation of Action4Youth core functions.
The Finance and Operations Director embeds a culture of strong financial management, effective controls and efficient processes within the organisation. You will be expected to provide critical financial information, analysis and insights, and advice and support on financial and strategic management issues, and emerging opportunities and risks, to the CEO, management team and the Board of Trustees.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Financial duties will include but are not limited to, preparing budgets, monthly management accounts, completing the cash flow projections, maintaining the fixed asset register, managing complex VAT payments and claims which include business, non-business and exempt activities, managing the team, developing policies and controls, managing the debtors, preparing statutory accounts, producing reports for the Board, attending board meetings and filing statutory accounts.
- Planning for audit and leading on ensuring effective reporting and stewardship of resources.
- Advise and work with the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Risk Committee, reporting as required.
- Supporting the CEO on A4Y’s strategic development .
- Lead on managing Action4Youth’s Risk Register, understanding and evaluating new risks.
- Lead on all HR matters, ensuring legal compliance and high standards of management.
- Oversee, and when appropriate, initiate new contracts for Action4Youth’s IT support.
- Assess and evaluate contract opportunities and risk.
- Lead on updating and managing the organisation’s policies.
- Ensure high standards and appropriate compliance across the organisation In Data Management and security and be Data Protection Officer.
- Ensure Action4Youth’s continued accreditation with ISO 9001.
- Manage staff teams with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities, providing support where appropriate on behavioural, safeguarding and staff management.

- To deliver plans and opportunities for expansion and growth to support the Strategic and Operational Action Plan in order to achieve sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e. Infrastructure Support Offer, delivery and outdoor education.

- To monitor and evaluate business delivery success.
- Undertaking responsibility, as part of the team, for all Health and Safety and Compliance related matters.
- Attend events and meetings when required.
- Support the continued development of quality standards as specified by Action4Youth.

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Westminster Theological Centre (WTC) as Finance Director (FD). WTC is at an exciting phase of its development as a fast-growing, innovative college. We are looking for a visionary, solution focused FD to work with the other members of the Senior Exec Team (SET) to build on current achievements, and help the college take full advantage of the current and future opportunities.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the FD will oversee all finance functions of the college and the associated consulting entity. The role will include being a member of the SET, contributing to the strategic management and governance of WTC within the overall framework of the Strategic Plan and in line with WTC’s core vision, mission and values. WTC launched a for-profit consulting entity in 2020, and the FD will also be a member of the Management Team of WTC Consulting Ltd (WTCC). The role holder will provide strategic financial advice to the WTC Board of Trustees and the WTCC Board of Directors.
The FD role includes the preparation and submission of Group Accounts, engagement with stakeholders and students, and oversight of the financial aspects of events and projects as detailed in the attached job description. The FD will also manage the Finance Manager to ensure the smooth running of all financial aspects of college and consultancy activities.

The successful candidate will have professional accountancy qualifications, commercial and/or professional experience, be strategic and solution oriented, and have strong management, team player and communication skills. Commitment and Pay scale
This is a 4-5 day/week, permanent position (37.5 hours/week FTE) on completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months. The position attracts a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 FTE per year, depending on experience and qualifications, as well as access to a pension scheme. Annual holiday allowance is 25 days per calendar (FTE) year plus bank holidays.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. Significant experience in individual supporter fundraising or consumer marketing through direct marketing techniques will be essential.

Our current Executive Director is moving on for family reasons, having stewarded the charity and led the development and expansion of My Life TV over the past two years. She will remain available part-time with My Life Films for a short handover period.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Interim ED will be responsible for all aspects of the charity's work and will be passionate about our work supporting people with dementia, entrepreneurial and collaborative, with commercial Business Development, Partnerships, and experience of charity mergers would be beneficial (but is not essential) as we have an experienced Board who will be on hand to support you.
As leader of the My Life Films team, you will also work across governance, finance, income generation, and impact. You will be responsible for delivering My Life Films' immediate strategy and working with the Board of Trustees.
About You
- Progress strategic partnership discussions for My Life TV with existing partners and identified potential partners to move to a wholesale or reseller model for My Life TV, or potentially acquisition of the service by another charity, company or care organisation
- Develop financial and operational models for potential partnerships, including scenario planning and P&L analysis, involving content, tech, marketing, and charitable impact. Lead negotiations, bringing in commercial, accounting, or legal support as needed.
- Work with the Board to create a strategic plan for My Life TV and new dementia-focused services, aligning with the charity's mission.
- Oversee daily operations, including finance, income generation, content production, partnerships, and reporting.
- Secure necessary funding through trusts, foundations, care groups, and events, representing My Life Films to stakeholders.
- Cultivate a positive environment, recruit and restructure as needed and provide coaching to enhance team performance.

This vital and substantive new role is to increase charitable income so BBG can deliver its charitable purpose and planned major development.
The Development Manager post has been created with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to increase fundraising skill and capacity and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day fundraising function. The priority is the capital project, but in addition the postholder will also build a portfolio of fundraising streams for capital, projects, and operational costs. The Development Manager will be responsible for day-to-day activity, including fundraising data management, income from trusts, grants, individuals, sponsorship, legacies etc, providing exceptional levels of stewardship for all donors and funding partners.
The new postholder will work with the small but dedicated team of Development Director and Systems Development Officer (part time). The new post includes management of any staff and volunteers working to support the development function. The postholder is responsible to the Development Director in raising the funds to deliver the Major project and beyond and growing the day-to-day fundraising operation and a strong body of supporters at BBG.
Key Responsibilities
• Achieve income and performance targets in accordance with BBG’s agreed Fundraising Strategy and business needs, as directed by the Development Director.
• Responsible for managing BBG’s development/fundraising function data, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy of data and information on BBG’s new Spektrix CRM system in compliance with wider BBG requirements and the Data Protection Act.
• Raise funding from trusts, grants, and sponsors and support campaigns for fundraising from individuals, especially major donors, to meet the targets of the Major project, as agreed.
• Work with Horticultural, Commercial and learning/Engagement teams, and other staff to determine projects and outcomes, maximising opportunities for raising funds to support core functions as well as projects, once the capital is secured.
• Manage and oversee funding contracts with trusts, grant givers etc, including payment schedules, reporting, and monitoring compliance with any conditions of funding.
• Responsible for high quality stewarding of all donors and supporters, ensuring BBG’s reputation as an exemplary charity is maintained. Respectful approach and manner in all fundraising. Developing a culture of giving in the charity.
Experience
3-5 years’ experience working in a fundraising capacity, including the raising of significant funds for a charity, including major donors/individuals.
