Job Summary
We are seeking an Event Assistant to support both the London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM) event side and Tommy’s side (affectionately nicknamed Team Tommy’s). This is an incredibly exciting time to join the team and gain fantastic experience in both the charity and events industry at one of the UK's leading mass participation events, which is owned and operated by Tommy's.
For the LLHM Team, the main purpose of this role is to provide first-class customer service and support to the 20,000+ runners taking part in the Half Marathon, as the event continues to grow in size year on year. This will involve managing the helpdesk email and phone line, ensuring runners are accurately registered and answering any queries they may have.
For Team Tommy’s, the main purpose of this role is to support the Tommy’s team of 3,000+ runners in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The role is responsible for being the main point of contact for the runners and ensuring they have the best experience possible running the LLHM and fundraising for Tommy’s through our support inbox and phone line. The aim is to deliver the ambitious team fundraising target of over £1,800,000 for LLHM 2026 and more in the following years. This role will also support the development of the Team Tommy’s LLHM Corporate Challenge, a product that recruits a team of corporate runners to take part in the LLHM and fundraise for Tommy’s.
We are not necessarily looking for past experience in a similar role, but for transferable skills and personal attributes to deliver excellent customer service and be a good all-rounder with fantastic administration and communication skills. What you’ll do:

- Attend promptly to colleagues’, members’, customers’ and suppliers’ queries.
- Process all invoices and expense claims from receipt to preparation for payment.
- Generate regular payment runs to agreed timetable modifying it as required to accommodate disruptions.

Deaf Unity is a deaf-led charity (CIO), based in London, that works to empower, nurture and train deaf individuals. We work with our community in London to identify the barriers deaf people face at every stage of this journey, empowering them to make informed choices and to succeed. From our home base in London, we work alongside our community and partners to develop and deliver new initiatives in response to clearly identified needs. We directly engage 300+ deaf people each year: inspiring and supporting school-leavers to take their first steps into higher education; empowering graduates and employees to navigate the world of work with confidence; and connecting deaf people with each other to build community, tackle isolation, mobilise around key issues and break down barriers to learning and employment. Sharing and dissemination of our work (including online to reach the national community) goes on to engage far greater numbers.
Deaf Unity generates much of its income from providing interpreting and consultancy services and delivering training (British Sign Language and deaf awareness courses). This activity fully aligns with our charitable mission and generates essential unrestricted funding to support our wider activities. Income in the year ending December 2023 was £115,316, of which over 80% was generated from course delivery and interpreting services. That year we generated a surplus of £11,102.
Context for the commission
To date, deaf Unity’s programmes have been delivered entirely by a freelance team: CEO, administrator, tutors and project managers/coordinators leading on different streams of activity. We have recently recruited a Training and Operations Manager (freelance) to lead on training and interpreting services.
Activity continues to grow. Turnover in 2024 was c. £175,000 (final accounts are currently being produced), demand for courses is strong and we have had a successful year of fundraising.
Our activities engage a broad range of beneficiaries, participants and stakeholders: deaf students and employees; our local deaf community in London; and many different stakeholders – universities, employers and local councils – working with us to remove the barriers that disadvantage deaf people and prevent access to opportunity. We are proud of a track record of impactful interventions that have made a real difference in the prospects of deaf learners, jobseekers and employees.
This said, we have not reaped the full benefits of the partnerships and experience that have contributed to this success. A wholly freelance workforce means skills, knowledge, relationships and learning are regularly lost. We now wish to bring a core team into a salaried, PAYE structure to assure greater stability and continuity. We wish to invest in our people and demonstrate good employability practices, as champions of Deaf parity in the workplace. Specialist support is needed to ensure a good process, an affordable structure, and that appropriate systems, policies and structures are in place to support future work.
In late 2023, the Board of Trustees agreed a forward plan, setting out the charity’s objectives and the activities we plan to deliver over the next 3-5 years. Our work is guided by 5 high-level, strategic objectives. We aim that by 2028:
- Deaf Unity will have created in partnership with London schools a high-quality, effective careers advice pack/toolkit which can be accessed digitally by schools across the UK to inspire and support deaf learners on their FE/HE/vocational journey.

Deaf Unity will be providing a comprehensive package of support around employability, that is recognised and in use by 5 leading nationwide employers and by the National Union of Students (NUS).

The consultant will be required to lead and support Deaf Unity’s CEO and Board through a systematic approach to agreeing, implementing and embedding the new structure. We currently envisage that this will include:

A review of the functions, skills and competencies required to deliver Deaf Unity’s forward plan

Producing a proposed, costed staff structure, with salaries, rates of pay and conditions that are benchmarked against the sector and meet good practice e.g. in terms of Living Wage parity

Business planning to include producing a revised budget for 2025 (currently indicative only) and an indicative budget for 2026, based on current levels of activity/growth, to ensure that the new structure is affordable. (An in-depth business development process is planned for a later stage, separate from this commission)

THE ROLE
The Fundraising Manager (Partnerships) role is a fantastic opportunity to lead on developing partnerships with The Girls’ Network's corporate and public sector supporters. The programme is well established with £170,000 worth of partners already on board. There is an opportunity to put your own stamp on the work, developing new collateral and ideas for excellent partnerships. The role is within our Fundraising & Communications team of four staff and works in collaboration with regional Senior Network Managers. There is an opportunity for the post holder to collaborate with the Fundraising Manager (Trusts and Foundations) on the development of grant applications.
Key roles and responsibilities
Income generation
- Primary focus of the role is to manage a portfolio of £170,000 worth of corporate partners and public sector organisations, to meet annual income targets and provide an excellent supporter experience.
- Develop compelling funding propositions and case for support to meet priorities, working closely with colleagues in Fundraising & Communications, Programmes and Monitoring, Research, Evaluation & Learning (MERL).
- Maintain an up-to-date pipeline of prospects through research and excellent record keeping (using SalesForce), ensuring that applications are made to meet known deadlines.
- Collaborate with Network Managers on regional corporate partnerships, ensuring a consistent and good supporter experience and identifying opportunities for development.
- Ensure that all reporting and grant monitoring is delivered in a timely manner, working closely with the MERL Manager and colleagues across Programmes.
- Oversee calendar of third-party events, liaising with external partners and ensuring appropriate TGN involvement.

Stewardship
- Develop data management processes, ensuring timely impact reporting or other agreed deliverables.

- Keep all relevant donor and financial information up-to-date on Salesforce, ensuring adherence to GDPR and other relevant good practice, as defined by the Fundraising Regulator and other sector bodies.

Director of Corporate Services
Salary: £80,000
Job Location: London / Hybrid (2 days per week in London office)
The Director of Corporate Services will play a pivotal role within their dynamic leadership team. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the HR, Finance and Governance functions with a focus on optimising the charity’s resources through efficient processes and robust policies.

About the Role
As our enthusiastic Campaigns Project Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing WaterAid's mass campaigning strategy to influence governments and policy makers, driving campaigning actions through stunning, personal, story-led communications. The purpose of which is to increase our political impact and inspire supporters to advocate to end the water crisis.
This role is a Full-Time, 12 months maternity cover, with a starting date from June 2025. Our offices are based in Canary Wharf, London.
In this role you will lead on developing and implementing WaterAid's mass campaigning strategy to influence governments and policy makers, maximising political impact and supporter engagement, identifying opportunities to test innovative ideas.
You’ll also:
- Devise and manage appropriate supporter journeys for campaigners, developing a relationship with supporters to ensure their support is maximised
- Create phenomenal personal communications, that develop supporter conversations and make lifetime connections
- Help build a team that everyone wants to work with and for, and where people do work that most interests them
To be successful, you’ll need:
- A good understanding of mass campaigning principles, and a strong interest in creating meaningful individual political actions that result in change
- Proven experience in a successful mass campaigning, direct marketing, supporter engagement and/or customer marketing role
- Solid project management experience, with the ability to manage large, complex projects from start to finish, working to agreed timescales and outcomes and with multiple stakeholders

About the Investment team
The investment team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our investments in these partners and supporting them to improve and scale their impact.
The investment team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.
The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.
The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 5). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.
The investment team has a good track record of role progression. All four Sector Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

About the Investment Manager role
The Investment Manager (IM) works as an integral part of the Investment Team to help deliver our mission – supporting portfolio partners to deepen their impact and scale their outcomes. This role works closely with Investment Directors and other Investment Managers, including both charity-facing support and internal support to the investment team.
The IM uses analytical rigour, project management and relationship skills to support a portfolio of amazing organisations that, together, will help shift the life chances and outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.
The IM role works across the portfolio, with the opportunity to work with various charities and Investment Directors, and may be involved in delivering the Impetus Leadership Academy.
Key responsibilities
Investment Management
- Working closely with Investment Directors to support portfolio partners across all areas of our work - leadership, impact and sustainability - leading specific work streams like impact and/or financial management.
- Building trust-based relationships with charity leaders including CEOs, delivery staff and Programme / Impact leads, to become a valued advisor on practice improvement.
- Working closely with staff at our partners charities, providing guidance, thought partnership and capacity building.
- Working with Impact teams at charity partners to develop and refine impact management practices; data collection, dashboard development, performance review meetings, programme design and evaluation.
- Coaching charities' heads of functions (e.g. Director of Impact) to develop as leaders and help drive an impact-led approach within their organisations
- Curating pro- bono projects leveraging our large network of corporate volunteers to provide targeted support in key areas for our charity partners (e.g. strategy, marketing advice, financial analysis).
- Supporting Investment Directors with design and delivery of theory of change workshops, analysing charity impact data, developing and analysing pre-workshop surveys, facilitating workshops.
- Supporting Impetus’ quarterly peer learning forums for our charity partners, in particular the Impact Forum.
- Supporting the governance of our investments, preparing reports for Investment and Steering Committees.
Investment team support
- Supporting/leading the annual cycle of identifying new investments - mapping the landscape of charities in thematic areas (e.g. Apprenticeships and Skills), identifying high potential charities though analysis of key impact and financial data and reviewing the current evidence base.
- Playing a key role in due diligence of new charities, reviewing charity information (quantitative and qualitative) and drawing insights about their suitability for investment; This includes considering impact and scale potential, financial stability and developing a business case for investment including identifying risks. Requires strong relationship management with potential charity partners.
- Developing knowledge and expertise in Education and Youth Employment, staying up to date on relevant sector developments.
- Working closely with the Public Affairs team and ensuring teams are integrated in their thinking and approach – both ensuring we are coordinated in our support to the sector and working on cross-team projects that support the wider Employment and Education sectors.
Support to the Impetus organisation

INEW and the purpose of the network
INEW members engage in research, policy and advocacy to promote greater understanding of the issues that arise from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas, and concrete steps that can be taken to address it. INEW member organisations develop partnerships calling for improved government policy and operational practice at a national level, and work together to develop stronger standards internationally. This includes efforts to advance universalisation and implementation of the Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences Arising from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas, the first formal international recognition that the use of explosive weapons in populated areas is the leading cause of civilian casualties in armed conflict, and that this must be addressed urgently and directly.

Requirements:

Article 36 is the current coordinating organisation for International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) and the Explosive Weapons Monitor, working to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.
Article 36 is a specialist non-profit organisation, focused on reducing harm from weapons. A small and effective team, we work together with civil society partners and governments to develop new policies and legal standards to prevent civilian harm from existing and emerging weapons.

This role is responsible for achieving fundraising targets, managing the community fundraising team and freelance grant writer(s), and leading all marketing initiatives, including social media management.
Reporting to the CEO, this role is ideal for someone with a strong background in fundraising, marketing, and team management who is passionate about making a difference.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to meet financial targets.
- Identify and develop new funding opportunities, including corporate sponsorships, business network, regular giving, legacies and fundraising campaigns.
- Support and manage the community fundraising team to maximise income from individual giving, sponsored events, and community-led initiatives.
- Oversee and work closely with the freelance grant writer(s) to ensure timely and high-quality funding applications.
- Maintain and develop relationships with funders, donors, and key stakeholders, providing impact reports and updates. Develop and deliver innovative fundraising events and campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and best practices.
Marketing and Communications
- Develop and implement an effective marketing strategy to enhance awareness, engagement, uptake of services and fundraising.
- Oversee all communications, ensuring a consistent and compelling message aligned with the charity’s vision.
- Work with Trustees and the Senior Management Team to significantly build our brand.
- Manage the social media team, ensuring engaging, timely, and impactful content across platforms.
- Oversee content creation for digital and print marketing materials, newsletters, press releases, and the website.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.
- Strengthen relationships with media outlets and influencers to increase the charity’s profile.
Team and Budget Management
- Lead and support the community fundraising team, the marketing and communications team and freelance grant writer(s), ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Monitor budgets related to fundraising and marketing activities, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and achieving ROI targets.
- Report on fundraising and marketing performance, providing regular updates to senior management and trustees.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in fundraising, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding income targets.
- Experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, ideally within the charity sector.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing teams and external contractors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of audiences.
- Strategic thinking, with the ability to identify and capitalise on fundraising and marketing opportunities.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of SEO optimisation, social media management and digital marketing strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM and fundraising platforms.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in grant writing and securing funding from trusts and foundations.
- Knowledge of Google Ads and analytics.
- Familiarity of using Sales Force.
- Knowledge of fundraising regulations and best practices.
- Experience working with volunteers and community groups.
- A personal connection to or experience within the Down syndrome or wider disability community.
Additional Information
- This is a remote role, but you will need to sometimes travel to attend events and meetings.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required to support fundraising events and campaigns
